Dimmed lights, sparkling tall glasses, shiny bubbles, festive feeling, smiles, and joy! Thinking about when was the last time I had a glass of bubbly, and failing to pinpoint the exact moment, I raise the imaginary glass to you, almost hearing that bright sound of two glasses touching, eyes making contact, smiles spreading across faces and reaching eyes, to celebrate! Life!
If you only think about champagne during holidays, weddings, or special events, or are trying to remember the last time when you raised your glass to celebrate, why not bring some sparkly-bubbly scented joy into your life, and enjoy simple pleasures that keep you going. On a daily basis: if you add some champagne (even though champagne only comes from the designation ‘Appellation d’origine contrôlée Champagne’, exclusively reserved for sparkling wines produced in France) to any ordinary experience, it will immediately transform into a swanky, sophisticated happening that’s bound to make you feel good about yourself: life’s simply too short (and it got too complicated) to ignore simple pleasures, those small bubbles of positivity that slip though fingers of time. So why not pop the cork of a perfume bottle, and spritz some sparkly on instead of drinking it? Der Duft Bubble does exactly that; its exuberant, fizzy personality is bound to make you smile, all year round, and on daily basis.

Simple pleasures of life and timeless scents in modern composition: this is what Anselm Skogstad had in mind when he decided to start his own brand, based in Munich, and launched this spring, in the midst of the first wave of the pandemic:
“I wanted to create a perfume house with a brand name that conveys a simple message and intention to anyone interested in scents. I wanted there to be no need for further explanations or complex stories. Calling my brand “Der Duft” (The Scent) is to the point. The intention is that each perfume, each scent will create their own story and association for the person wearing it. It all begins with a good sniff while understanding the name of the particular perfume!”-Anselm Skogstad
Simply, it’s all about perfume, what’s inside the bottle with Anselm. No extensive copywriting, no sublime suggestions, at the beginning there were even no notes listed on the website: just the perfume, for the wearer to enjoy on an individual basis, and create a story of their own.

The same goes for Der Duft Bubble (created by perfumer Alexandre Illian / Symrise), and while we all have our own individual stories, happy memories, and positive emotions connected to drinking a glass of champagne in a merry company, this finely blended, shimmering floral-musky fragrance is easy to wear on a daily basis, any time in a year. Just like that, with joy.

The initial burst of bubbles upon first spray creates a universe of its own: lit by an aldehydes-lit golden glow all over your skin, clinging on softly, and then rising to the top and bursting to reveal fuzzy-fruity undertones that contrasts the initial bitterness. The excitement of the first impression is subdued, and the uplifting feeling slowly turns into a calming effect: just like when you watch bubbles rise in a glass of champagne.
This liquid, bright fruitiness has a well-balanced sweetness to it, feeling like a second fermentation below the sparkling surface, and some bubbles join together and bring upwards occasional whiffs of rose, bright pink, and dewy. The relaxed and easy-going atmosphere is warmer as the fragrance develops further, but all the contrasts of bitter and sweet, sparkling and smooth, dry and dewy, sharp and soft, energizing and soothing are smoothly interconnected, and Der Duft Bubble seems to shine softly at all times.
As the surface and the heart of the fragrance slowly fade away, more herbal, slightly spicy, and comforting green tones settle comfortably in, supported by floral-musky base construction that’s further calmed down with creamy but very light-feeling sandalwood. All the tiny bubbles that contribute to the overall feeling of this perfume are rounded, nicely connected that breathes easy-going refinement that stems out of simplicity.
I raise my imaginary, fragrant glass of champagne to you, dear readers: chin-chin! Let’s celebrate today, here, and now! Stay safe and remember to let bubbles of joy into your everyday routine.
Notes: Champagne, Cassis Nectar, Rose, Chamomile, White Musk, Sandalwood, Ambrette.
