Cypress Cove Golden Hour (Adam Ebberts) 2025 + Essence of Autumn Giveaway

Golden Hour by Cypress Cove perfumes

Fellow amber scent lovers, this is our season! Cypress Cove Golden Hour is an ode to the genre and does a wonderful job of aligning the moment it describes with the scent it invokes: that exact time when the sun starts to go down, when it   bathes everything surrounding  in a beautiful gold light. I think of leaves turning orange, the scent of them on our sidewalks and front yards, crunching underfoot; the way they indicate that fall, my favorite season, is finally here.

Amber scents are some of my absolute favorites (go ahead, pick one, I probably own it) and Cypress Cove Golden Hour is a welcome addition to my collection. That said, it is an amber with a capital A and I write that as a compliment. Actual amber resin famously does not have a scent but some whiz imagined what that golden stone might smell like and now we have these beautiful creations to delight our noses.

You don’t have to love the fall season to love amber fragrances, or vice versa, but I imagine it helps. I grew up in the seasonless tropics and other always-warm climates, so imagine my delight upon experiencing the beautiful, just-right chill of fall in New England as a co-ed, the toasty comfort of sweater weather! I can’t stand winter but if you gave me fall all year round, I’d be a happy camper.

Sometimes amber scents remind me of the sweet pungent note of decaying leaves, sometimes of maple syrup or apple pie, sometimes of powdery resin… but all of it is fall-coded to me. A palette of orange, yellow, brown, and gold, of shimmering light through leaves. I once had the great fortune of driving through New England (specifically the Connecticut to Vermont I-91 corridor) during peak fall foliage and it was that trip that I thought of the most when smelling this perfume. It is so evocative and joyful; it truly brought me to my fall happy place.

Amber fragrances run the gamut, so I’ll introduce you to Golden Hour’s particular notes: grapefruit and bergamot deepened slightly by pine, cypress and cardamom, and that’s just the opening. Cypress Cove founder, perfumer and creative director, Theresa Murphy collaborated with perfumer Adam Ebberts to create a really fresh amber that celebrates their “mutual love of mountains, sweetgum trees, and a soft dusk.”

That citrus opening combines with cedarwood, labdanum and smoked vetiver to create a heftier middle note that any amber lover will recognize and cherish. It then winds down into the cozy comfort of vanilla, amber and woods at the base (the soft dusk in question). Because this formulation is an eau de toilette, it is not overpowering and maintains a freshness and lightness not always found in ambers.

Theresa Murphy told us, “Golden Hour feels like standing on a hillside at sunset — the air tinged with pine and citrus, the warmth of the sun still on your skin, and the faint glow of amber and musk wrapping around you as daylight fades.”

I am quite charmed by Cypress Cove’s ethos: scents inspired by memorable moments. (They also donate a portion of their proceeds to charitable organizations, which warms my do-gooder heart.) Don’t you wish you could create a perfume for every beautiful memory in your life? Cypress Coves creates these snapshots in time via olfactory art. The perfumes take you on a journey, or place you in a memory. I loved the mood of lingering daylight during fall that Golden Hour puts me in. It is a cozy blanket of a perfume and I really enjoy wrapping myself up in it.

Top Notes: Pink Grapefruit, Italian Bergamot, Pine, Cypress and Cardamom

Middle Notes: Texas cedarwood, Golden labdanum, Smoked vetiver

Base Notes: Amber musk, Vanilla, Cashmere woods

  • Autumn and cold-weather perfumes are my go-to year round – there’s something about the cozy warm notes I can’t get enough of.

Mimian’s review was lush and descriptive, but what actually hooked me is Mimian’s mention of the Cypress Cove ethos of philanthropy. It’s rare thing to hear of brands giving back to their communities these days.

I enjoyed Mimian’s review of Cypress Cove Golden Hour. I like the idea of a fragrance that captures the lingering daylight during the fall time. I live in Maryland USA.

  • Golden Hour by Cypress Cove blends crisp grapefruit, warm amber, and soft woods to evoke the essence of autumn. Mimian Morales’ article stood out for its thoughtful focus on charitable giving, a practice that should be embraced by larger fragrance houses. The fragrances are also affordably priced, and with vetiver—one of my favorite notes—included, I look forward to experiencing this cozy scent, especially since amber is not yet part of my collection. Scented regards from NY, USA.

  • I love a good amber! I’ll even wear them in the heat. This looks like a beautiful one from start to finish and I’m not familiar with the house which is always an extra treat! I love a charitable business too. I’m thankful for the chance to win a bottle. The Hank you!

    Hi there,

I am wondering if the Golden Hour isn’t sunrise on the East Coast, and sunset on the West Coast? We’ve been having the most beautiful of both, lately…Thanks for this peek into amber’s characteristics and possibilities. I’m really intrigued by this note, as well as by smokede vetiver and cashmere woods. I ADORE autumn, but amber fragrances remain a hole in my collection, so I look forward to trying this one. Thank you so much!

I really enjoyed this review because Mimiam’s love for amber fragrances felt genuine and contagious. The way they described fall imagery, cozy memories, and that golden hour glow made the scent feel emotionally rich rather than just a list of notes. I appreciated how they connected the fragrance to personal experiences, especially the New England fall moment, because it helped me visualize exactly what kind of vibe this perfume creates. Overall, the review made Golden Hour sound warm, nostalgic, and beautifully specific, the kind of scent I would want to experience for myself. I 1000000% love autumn and it is my favorite season, living in the Northeast region of the United States. I also certainly love ambery fragrances.

  • Mimian’s review captured that golden nostalgia perfectly. I love how she connected the amber theme with the feeling of early evening light—there’s something timeless about that intersection of scent and memory. The way she described amber as “an amber with a capital A” feels spot on; Golden Hour really does sound like it embodies the essence of the season rather than just imitating it.

Reading her reflection made me think about how amber fragrances often feel like little time capsules—part resin, part sunlight, part memory. I took that I-91 drive myself during peak foliage and it was gorgeous; it paints exactly the mood this perfume evokes. Golden Hour seems to be both nostalgic and uplifting, a scent to revisit every fall when you want to wrap yourself in the cozy embrace of amber—the perfect fragrance note.

  • An Amber eau de toilette is such an interesting idea. I love it! Amber can be so lovely, but can also be quite heavy. Mimian certainly seems to be a connoisseur! If autumn didn’t lead to winter, I would love it. As it is, it does give me a feeling of dread. Autumn leaves me with complex emotions. I am in the US

  • The fact that this house donates consistently to the greater good. That alone is a standout point, the notes of this fragrance truly call to me. Being a huge cardamom amber and labdanum fan, this scent seems like a gift to the senses. I’m in NY

  • Ambers are one of my favorite types of perfumes. I love how this one is inspired by sunsets and the ones in the fall are so beautiful with the color of fall leaves enhancing the golden and orange theme! I’m really resonating with Mimian’s review as I wouldn’t have guessed it was an amber just from the name of it.

I live in the USA…thanks for the giveaway!

  • It is amber season! There’s golden light, warm shades in nature and just a little chill in the air. The addition of the citrus and pine and cypress in the top notes introduce a freshness and mountain chill to the warmer amber, cashmeran and labdanum. The smoky vetiver is a nice touch to approximate a roaring fire. Sounds lovely. MD, USA

  • What stuck with me about Minoan’s review is her mention that Golden Hour would be a welcome addition to what sounds like a collection with an ample number of amber scents; and I took this to mean that Golden Hour offers something different from the overcrowded amber landscape. This is exactly what I’m looking for – an amber that is unique and has something different to offer the wearer. Golden Hour ticks that box. It matches the fall vibes of the Midwest with heavy earthy browns and the festive soft glow of gold and oranges.

  • I used to think I couldn’t wear amber because so many of them came up sour on me,but I found out as I went along that there are many ambers that I can wear and they all tend to be more autumnal. This sounds like an amazing feat, here, to have a fresh and light amber fragrance, and the autumn sunset visuals really make me want to try it! Autumn is my favorite time of year. Great review!

  • Ambers are an ideal wear as the weather cools, and I love “the toasty comfort of sweater weather”, so I reach for scents like Cypress Cove Golden Hour right now. And I’m particularly intrigued by one that invokes the smell of “peak fall foliage” and dry falling leaves. I like how Golden Hour includes a sappy grapefruit and evergreen opening to give this amber a point of distinction, and wisely is dosed as an EdT, so it “maintains a freshness and lightness not always found in ambers.” I’d love to try this—thanks for the giveaway.

    I’m in the USA.

I think amber perfumes are absolutely beautiful. I am intrigued that Golden Hour by Cypress Cove has citrus notes in the opening. That certainly does sound fresh. Labdanum and vetiver are two of my favorite fragrance notes, so I was happy to read that they are featured in the middle notes. The golden hour of fall sometimes puts me in a melancholy mood, but the Golden Hour of Cypress Cove will certainly chase that away.
    I live in the USA.

  • I love sunset, such a beautiful time of day. I am interested in an amber that is a bit more light. I don’t like winter either. Love a crisp day outside raking leaves. This article is making me cherish fall and these gorgeous days. Thanks for the chance. USA.

  • This was a descriptive narrative that definitely captures the season and paints the beautiful scene it portrays. I love this time of year and seeing the leaves change with the crisp fresh air alongside smoking chimneys faintly in the background. A great sweet scent for the season that is truly reminiscent of the resinous and welcoming. Want to win, from USA.

Thanks for the glowing review! Cypress Cove Golden Hour by Adam Ebberts captures that fleeting autumn light beautifully—first the crisp amber glow of sunlit leaves and dry woods, then a soft undercurrent of smoked cedar and cozy vanilla that feels like the day exhaling into dusk. I especially love how the amber isn’t heavy or syrupy; it’s more like warm skin after leaves crunch beneath boots on a golden-lit path. I’d love to try Golden Hour!
    Cheers from WI, USA
