Cherigan Fiesta Habana

At the Esxence 2023 fragrance exhibition in Milan I fortuitously stumbled upon a true gem that encapsulates elegance, quality, and a rich historical allure. Cherigan renowned for its impeccable craftsmanship, caught my attention, and one fragrance stole my heart –Fiesta Habana. With its captivating scent and exquisite bottle design, it transports you to the exhilarating world of the roaring 1920s and 1930s. The Art Deco movement is undergoing something of a renaissance of late and with the keen eyes and management of Luc Gabriel, founder of The Different Company who discovered Cherigan in 2016, the brand has been brought back to life.

From the moment I saw the sleek, slender silhouette of the bottle, I knew I had discovered something extraordinary. The golden crafted cap, adorning the bottle like a regal crown, added a touch of opulence. The bottle’s translucency only heightened the allure, allowing a glimpse into the golden elixir within. Cherigan Fiesta Habana is not just a fragrance; it is a work of art that demands admiration.

Drawing inspiration from the era’s vibrant parties, lively music, and undeniable charm, Cherigan Habana Fiesta captures the essence of a time that was synonymous with indulgence and sophistication. The aromatic symphony of cannabis, rum, tobacco, amber, and vanilla evokes images of smoky jazz clubs and clandestine gatherings, embodying the spirit of the “Lost Generation”, the local jet set.

Fiesta Habana goes beyond scent; it is an olfactory journey through history. According to Cherigan, Fiesta Habana is “a tribute to absolute love and the pleasure of unlimited parties between France and Spain. Soon after, Hemingway moved into his favourite home on the Keys, just across the street from Cuba, the paradise of nightlife, casinos and partying. It is a testament to Cherigan’s commitment to delivering the highest quality, with each note and accord meticulously crafted for a harmonious blend. The intoxicating perfume transports you to a world where the sun always rises on endless possibilities.

As Ernest Hemingway once wrote in his iconic novel, The Sun Also Rises, “You can’t get away from yourself by moving from one place to another.” This sentiment resonates deeply with Fiesta Habana. Hemingway’s words reflect the allure of the fragrance Fiesta Habana offers a temporary escape to a world of joyous celebration.”

  • Fiesta Habana seems to be an intelligent, passionate and well-crafted story of a perfume. I love fragrances which have pulsing life inside of them, which evoke space and time, draw a picture and carry a message. And it seems that Cherigan managed to do exactly that, sealing a tale of vibrant, colorful and exuberant joie de vivre, cuban rhythms and scents of smoke, booze and excitement, inside a glorious little bottle.

I like to hear about hidden gems like this. Thank you Karl for bringing this to our attention. I like the genre that embodies the nightlife of the 90s. that was the best time. I am glad Cherigan is bringing it back to life with such quality ingredients. Tonka/vanilla/tobacco/rum done right is always a great hit and i am glad it’s done right here. I would love to try it.

  • I guess it is the mystique that comes with anything related to Hemingway and Cuba that I find so interesting. Plus a good rum is always a blessing. In mayrland.

  • I love Karl’s incorporation of the Hemingway quote, “You can’t get away from yourself by moving from one place to another”, and the visuals of a bygone era. I am enamored with tobacco fragrances as well as the boozy, warm rum note and this scent seems gorgeous. It reminds me of my grandparents and family weddings of years long past. I love in Ilinois.

  • The review mentions a cannabis aroma in this (although no listed note), and I’d like to smell that aspect with all the other listed notes. US

  • I really like the description of how the blend captures the spirit of a bygone era, immersing the senses in a world of jazz clubs, where cigarette smoke mingled with the rhythm of music. The bottle and cap also exude beauty.

  • “The intoxicating perfume transports you to a world where the sun always rises on endless possibilities.”

Anytime someone can articulate and weave a symbiotic note between one distinct materia to another, I appreciate said writer that much more. Karl’s poetic reflection expounding upon the story Cherigan weaves does such justice to painting a vivid picture of redolent past times amongst a notable era. I can almost feel it wafting around me having not smelt it yet.

    Cheers from California!

  • The notes of this fascinating fragrance and how beautifully composed it is sparks my interest. I live in Trzebnica, Poland, EU.

  • Cherigan Fiesta Habana is inspired by the roaring 20s and 30s and true to its name, it has tobacco elements. Afterall, any mention of Havana frequently reminds us of legendary cuban cigars. I am in the US.

  • As a fan of unique unisex fragrances, I’m drawn to the tobacco and rum notes. I must admit I did spend time in smoky jazz clubs, back in the day. I’m curious about the 90 percent natural ingredients and would love to sniff Fiesta Habana. Thanks for the opportunity. Mich USA

  • I agree with Karl that his appears captivating by the 1st moment. Just reading the title and seeing the pic of the article I was drawn in. Man what a note breakdown, it gets me right in the feels.

  • Reading this review conjured a night in Old Havana, Cuba. A cobblestone town square, fountain ablaze, light stringed overhead, flamenco music in the air and dancing til dawn. Seems a no-brainer to at least order a sample to try.

  • Ken White says:

The abundance of natural ingredients in Cherigan Fiesta Habana sparks my imagination, as I envision the exquisite performance of its captivating notes. • Karl did a great job here, as always.
Cherigan made a fantastic perfume with Fiesta Habana. I think what got my attention the most is how Karl did a great asociation with Hemingway and his writings of Habana. I think that the notes of cannabis, rum, tobbaco, amber must be something amazing in this perfume. Would love to try it soon.
    USA here.

  • You had me at rum – mm mmm. Interested by the description of the smoky jazz club – not something I’ve had a chance to experience so all here for getting those vibes via perfume. Not come across orcanox before so also interested in finding out what that smells like in such a gorgeous blend. I’m in the UK.

  • I was unfamiliar with Cherigan until reading Emmanuelle’s intro – what a great idea to revive this brand and keep one foot in the past and one in the present with the current lineup of fragrances! Love the classic Art Deco styling on the bottle and the scent concept of hearkening back to Hemingway’s time in Cuba with rum, tobacco, and ocean notes. And I’m all for more perfumes working with mostly natural palettes!
    Best wishes from the US.

I had the opportunity to visit Cuba, and seeing the photos and art used for Fiesta Habana, just reminded me of that trip.
The time stopped by looking at the buildings, cars, places you visit…. But what evolves is the charm, warmth, happiness of its people.

I am glad Cherigan Paris choose tobacco and rum in Fiesta Habana.

I would love to go back again, and if I get the opportunity to win Fiesta Habana, I will be taking the inspiration to travel there in my imagination.

A fragrance that embodies the parties in Europe at 1920s 1930s. The jazz music accompanied with the smell of a jazz club of the era. Strong tobacco and alcohol. I cant remember reading another review with the author being so thrilled about the described fragrance. This has to be a masterpiece boozy ambery tobacco scent. Not to mention the 90% of natural ingredients.Fingers crossed i hope i win if i don’t i would probably blind buy it. I live in EU, Greece

  • A true gem that encapsulates elegance, quality, and a rich historical allure – Of course it is, giving this list of sensual notes – rum, davana, elemi, tolu, iris, immortelle, tobacco, vanilla …All of these can be found, to a small or large extent, in my favorite perfumes.

Take me to Cuba now, time and blend me into the crowd while wearing Fiesta Habana. Meanwhile, I live in the Eu.

Thank you Karl, Cafleurebon team and Cherigan Paris for this chance!

As you said in the article the bottle is a true piece of craftsmanship, it is something that just catches your eyes right away, not only was it the bottle, but what the smell is supposed to represent the “Lost Generation.” The notes also seem like they will work together like the Pure essence rum, Iris, immortelle, Tobacco, tonka bean, and amber, just sound amazing together.

  • Chrerigan Fiesta Habana seems like a fitting scent for the 1920s Lost Generation of Hemingway and Fitzgerald with its core in the smoke filled bistros in Paris. The rum, tobacco, cannabis, vanilla and amber evoke a celebration and never-ending party Also love the art deco bottle. I’m in the US.

Cherigan could be one very old fragrance brand, with roots in 1920s and 1930s, but their fragrances were ahead of their time, and no doubt there’s nothing dated in Fiesta Habana.
The Art Deco feeling is appealing to me, smoky boozy ,ambery and some nice music to make the whole experience even more enjoyable.
Karl Topham take on Fiesta Habana in my Pastry Chef mind made me think on being in Cuba , making the traditional for the region Caribbean Rum Cake ,and later on sharing it with friends while on the beach, with music planning by , having fun, relishing the moment.
I don’t know Cherigan, but I know The Different Company sister brand , Majaïna Sin is my favorite
Appreciate learning about Cherigan, the review, and the giveaway campaign

  • Such a surprise, I was so not expecting to see there’s a fragrance inspired by the nightlife of Cuba around 100 years ago.
Judging from the the notes , the pictures in the article, and Karl festive impressions , I’m expecting posh rum and tobacco fragrance, with iris , resins and certain level of sophistication.
Learning about how the fragrance is also connected to Hemingway was fun , now I want it even more.
    Thanks for the draw

  • Wow, this does sound like the roaring 20s in a bottle – part Hemingway sipping tiki drinks on the beach, and part Gatsby dancing the night away with the ladies. I am a fan of the art deco revival we are starting to experience and am happy to see that some fragrances are also following the trend. I agree with Karl, the bottle design is stunning – slender and refined, with a cap that makes a real statement. Of course, the juice is what matters most and the composition sounds great. It doesn’t get much better than rum, tobacco, and vanilla. Best of luck to everyone. I live in NC, USA.

  • Nicolas89 says:

Thanks for the review, I find it a very evocative perfume. I was recently in Jovoy and I had the opportunity to test some Cherigan perfumes and they seemed well constructed. I love that “Fiesta Habana” transports us to ancient Cuba through its notes of tobacco, rum and amber. Sounds delicious! Greetings from Toulouse, France.

  • Vintage Art Deco vibes and a wonderful note list make this a must try. I’m in the USA.

  • Bring on the boozy fragrances with tobacco. I really like that Hemingway inspired this and that karl included a wink to Hemingway “the sun also rises on endless possibilities.”
I am a fan of the TDC (Rose Poivree and Une Nuit Magnifique) and admire them for buying this vintage house Cherigan and that Fiesta Habana has 90 percent naturals. Glad it will soon be available at Merz since I live about half a mile out of Chicago. Want to check the whole line out. Irish Coffee appeals to me as well

Within the past two years, I’ve developed an interest in trying fragrances from Cherigan. Cherigan “Fiesta Habana” sounds like one I’d like to try. I like its list of notes, and Karl’s review of it caused me to think that Cherigan makes high-quality fragrances, e.g. when he says: “It is a testament to Cherigan’s commitment to delivering the highest quality, with each note and accord meticulously crafted for a harmonious blend.” I live in the U.S.A.

  • Outstanding review by Karl. What interests me of this captivating fragrance of 90% natural ingredients is Karl’s quote, “The intoxicating perfume transports you to a world where the sun always rises on endless possibilities” Brilliant. Thanks for the giveaway. Greetings from the USA.

  • RonaldProkes17 says:

Such a fantastic review for such a beautiful scent. Hemingway and the ‘Lost Generation’ have been a fascination of mine and I admire that literary movement and that lifestyle greatly. I love how Karl was able to really paint a picture of how the fragrance evokes those long, hot, hedonistic nights as well as the sophistication of writing that came out of that as a result. I loved the quote Karl used from “The Sun Also Rises” because it is my favourite Hemingway novel. I love transportive fragrances and I would love to try this one and hopefully own a bottle.

I was not aware the Different Company is about to launch its US website, otherwise I would’ve waited a little bit, and not order samples from a decant and sample shop on Ebay , because I do prefer to order from the brands directly if possible.
From the very first initial impressions , since I received the sample yesterday, my top 3 would be:
    1. Fiesta Habana
    2. The Purple Bar
    3. Fleurs de Tabac/ Iris Coffee
Of course i can also easily chatter about current parent company “The Different Company” , and my favorite fragrances from their portfolio :
    1.Pure eVe / Majaïna Sin
    2.Aurore Nomade
    3.Une Nuit Magnetique
Back to the original Cherigan topic . With the classy tobacco , rum , woody nuances, and resins i believe Fiesta Habana is modern interpretation of a bygone, lavish era . Marijuana i a hidden note i can smell too , thankfully it’s just lurking in the background not overpowering other notes.
All profiles I already follow, @waltherp99bg
    Thanks a lot

I really like the notes in this one and I am always looking forward to trying and wearing a fragrance that brings joy, is happy and full of life. I am tired of perfumes that are dark. Give me the fragrances of the never ending parties! This Cherigan sounds really, really goood! Thanks!

  • I like the back story, it draws me in and makes me curious how this actually smells. What are the prominent top notes? Is it boozy? Is the base heavy and sweet? I’d love to win this to Germany, thank you for the draw!

  • Nice review Karl! It must be really something amazing to find in the middle of some many perfumes in Esxence 2023, an intoxicating scent that stole your heart from the design of the flask to the juice inside it. Habana, the city, has this power and Habana Fiesta, the perfume, seems to be , also, a form of art to be back to the 30´s where everything was happening in the streets of Centro Habana or Vedado, the famous neighborhoods of the city. Thanks to Luc Gabriel for bringing back a brand, Cherignan, and bringing back a memory of a time and a place with the highest quality of almost all natural ingredients where rum and tobacco has an important part to show the vibrations of “la noche habanera”. I live in Spain, EU.

  • Fiesta Habana seems to be a time machine that’ll take you right into the crazy rhythms of a decadent party. I can almost see the sparkling lights, hear the upbeat music, smell the air that’s all sweat and scent and lit cigars.
Nice to have a passport to a long gone golden era.
    I’m in EU.

  • I love a warm tobacco fragrance in cold weather, but with its celebratory Cuban inspiration, Fiesta Habana sounds like the perfect summer-night-out version of this style. The high percentage of natural ingredients is also impressive—Cherigan Fiesta Habana sounds potent. The packaging is lovely too. Thanks for the review, Karl.

    I’m in the USA.

Karl Topham took us to a journey to 1920s, and the way people were having the times of their life. I wish I was able to hop in a club like the one on the 3th picture.
I love rum , tobacco smell, vanilla and jazz , it seems like Fiesta Habana is a fragrance i’d enjoy a lot.
The one Cherigan fragrance i know is The Purple Bar, I sampled it because of Emmanuelle Varron review , sensual resinous fragrance with a lot of cinnamon.
    Thank you for the opportunity

What interested me about Karl’s review of Cherigan Fiesta Habana is first off the note breakdown rum, tobacco, vanilla, amber, resins, and immortelle! All notes I love. I love how Luc Gabriel, founder of The Different Company who discovered Cherigan in 2016, and revived the brand. Love the Art Deco style fragrance that transports you to the 1920s and 30s. Cherigan describes Fiesta Habana is “a tribute to absolute love and the pleasure of unlimited parties between France and Spain. It also talks about how Ernest Hemingway and poetry that ties into his amazing review of this 90% natural fragrance. I am from the USA.

  • The review really transported you into the scene Karl painted with his words. The notes of the fragrance sound amazing and in combination should be a winner. Thank you for the opportunity. US-California.

  • Great review. This is another house that is new to me, though I do like mutiple fragrances from the Different Company. Being in the spirit of Hemingway and the Lost Generation, sounds like something right up my alley! Thank you for the review, and the draw! In the US.

I have lots of fondness and admiration for perfumes that embody an era, a setting… Fiesta Habana seems to be an epitome of a golden era of partying: uninhibited, joyous and hedonistic. The promise, the flow, the excitement… Karl’s review paints a picture of happy people living in the moment and making the most of it. The opulence of the note combination is beyond alluring. Hats off to Cherigan for the proportion of natural ingredients used too. Thank you from the EU

    I love 1920s , and 1930s too
Cherigan pays homage to a time period remembered for a lot of development, innovations, high fashion, and even wild parties. Many people in the fashion industry do consider this decade as the start of the “Golden Age of Menswear.” Along with the partying and dancing, fashion was rapidly evolving, not just for women, who had just recently gained the right to vote, but also for men.
Fiesta Habana is connected to jazz clubs, and parties in Cuba with Cuban cigars , rum and joyous celebrations
I was not aware Cherigan and The Different Company are connected.

    Greetings everyone
In Paris Cherigan fragrances are available in Jovoy, and of course at the company own boutique at 10 Rue Ferdinand Duval, 75004 . The place is called LA STATION par The Different Company , and other than Cherigan and The Different Company i was able to smell some other brands I’ve never heard before like Le Galion and HEADSPACE. Special experience, if you go there Yoann will take full care of you .
I find interesting how all Cherigan fragrances are inspired from last century 20s and 30s , yet there’s nothing dated , even Fleurs de Tabac smells modern to me.
Like Mr Topham said in his essay Fiesta Habana is work of art , party like there’s no tomorrow fragrance. Sweet , boozy , with tobacco and small amount of marijuana .
Cubans know how to live life, and Fiesta Habana is the example
Thank you, American living in Paris France
