NEW FRAGRANCE REVIEW: Comme des Garcons Series: PLAY – Red, Green, and Black – A Play on Color

The latest fragrances from Comme des Garcons are a playful trio of scents composed of notes that relate to the colors each scent is named for. The series is called Play, and the scents are Red, Green, and Black. Antoine Maisondieu is the perfumer for all three, and the cheerful heart logo, which also appears on the Play clothing brand, is designed by Filip Pagowski.

Parfums MDCI Chypre Palatin opens with a symphony, an overused term that completely suits this occasion. There is forest, there is soap, there is comforting darkness and fizzy light all at once. I am taken to my grandmother’s powdery dressing table, to my mother’s fine wool sweater I nuzzled as a child, to my father’s cigar box. Chypre Palatin smells like none of these things exactly, but conjures all of these things in my mind.

X-Ray Profumo is a new company and fragrance line that has been introduced in an exclusive arrangement with Barney’s NY. The line currently has 3 scents: Resurrextion, Delirium, and Morphine. The founder of the company, Ray Burns, spent his career in the world of beauty and fragrance, working largely at NARS Cosmetics. Recently, Ray decided it was time to create a perfume line of his own, inspired by key places and times in his life.
