Perfumer Miriam Vareldzis of 40notes Perfume created her new, limited edition scent Crystalline Hyacinth with a vase of fresh hyacinths on her desk as inspiration during the late winter and spring of this year.
Perfumer Ragna Rostad-Ruffner of Divine Life Perfume created her Dharma Rose fragrance “to assist you as you walk your path, speak your truth and live your dream …all from the deepest desires of your heart.” Dharma Rose is available in both perfume oil and eau de cologne. I tested both, and they are wonderful, with different personalities.
“Afternoon of a Faun” has been translated into music, by Debussy, and ballet, by several, but most notoriously by the famous Russian dancer Nijinsky. His faun was scandalous, and I would have loved to see it. Now the whole package of poem, music and dance has been interpreted by perfumer Ralf Schweiger for Etat Libre D’orange
Recently it was announced that Los Angeles-based perfume emporium Scent Bar was launching a new collection of bath and body products in partnership with Target stores. I decided to adopt a wait-and-see attitude, because I know that snobbery can come back to bite you in the butt, and I’m glad I did. I received a nice array of the products to test, and I am happy to say they are really good.
Ben Gorham, the Founder and Creative Director of Byredo Parfums, envisioned his newest addition to the line as a true tribute to the Middle East, a part of the world he has visited frequently. The Scent Artist, as her business card title proclaims, is painter, architect, and designer Dannielle Sergent, who was encouraged to explore her unique, intuitive take on perfume creation.
