One of the edgier perfume houses is Comme des Garcons. Particularly over the last couple of years as they have undertaken co-creative ventures with a number of different artists and translated it into fragrances. For the collaboration with Hussein Chalayan they chose to take inspiration from his Autumn/Winter 2007 collection titled ‘Airborne’. The most buzzed about look at that show was the dress which was covered with LED lights and that gave the effect of flying through the clouds as it shifted and flowed.

Sometimes with the image makeover the perfume house can also have a creative makeover as well. Jo Malone has become a very reliable line for my tastes especially since Christine Nagel has taken over as in-house perfumer
When we received the press release for the new fragrance from L’Artisan Parfumeur, Batacuda; the perfumers Karine Vinchon Spehner and Elisabeth Maier wanted to capture the mix of music and caiparinha that is prevalent in some parts of Brazil. Batucada is a style of dance and music marked by its particular fast percussion.
it is not the ingredient that is boring but the lack of imagination which makes it pedestrian. Mona di Orio has created an amazing oud fragrance & she has also created a blueprint on how to make something special out of something overdone. Les Nombres D’Or Oud is my favorite fragrance of 2011, so far 3.3 oz EDP $520 draw!!
