During the recent Sniffapalooza Fall Ball 2010, on Sunday, we spent some time downtown strolling through the smaller boutiques. When we got to MiN Apothecary I got a real treat as I was introduced to a new fragrance line I had never tried. Just prior to Sniffapalooza they had been traveling in Europe and the line they brought back and were introducing to us on that Fall Sunday was from Madrid, Alvarez Gomez. Known for their Colonia it was the soliflores that made the lasting impression.

Dawn Spencer Hurwitz Cuir et Champignon: Magic Mushrooms

When Dawn Spencer Hurwitz attends a Sniffapalooza event the treat for the rest of us is she always brings something new for us to sniff. The recent Sniffapalooza Fall Ball was no exception as she chose to delight us with the premiere of Cuir et Champignon. Be careful of that second word, it is not Champagne, it is Champignon as in mushroom. Which makes Cuir et Champignon read as Leather and Mushroom.

Van Cleef & Arpels Midnight In Paris: A Leather Embrace

At the recent Sniffapalooza Fall Ball 2010 we were treated to all kinds of presentations of new fragrances. Perhaps the most memorable was given by Brigit, the Van Cleef & Arpels SA, at Bergdorf-Goodman. Brigit took a different tack for her presentation of the new Van Cleef & Arpels masculine fragrance Midnight In Paris. Brigit just holding the beautiful cobalt blue bottle decorated with a constellation of stars told a tale of a couple walking the witching hour in Paris. At the end of her tale the couple ended in an embrace accentuated by the man’s leather jacket.
