With Lightscape, Ulrich Lang wanted to create a fresh sophisticated fragrance. What sets Mr. Lang apart is he chooses to look for fresh in the notes of violet and iris.Somehow with Lightscape Mr. Lang has harnessed the glow within both of those notes and coaxed them to shine brilliantly.
When I attended the Elements Showcase in August the Bond No. 9 booth was my first stop and I smelled the new release Manhattan. I would sniff that strip a lot over the next two days. Once I had the chance to wear it I actually found it much more expansive on my skin than on the strip and another fall winner from Bond No. 9.
In these early Fall days of 2012 Bertrand Duchaufour reminded me of what an intelligent artist can do with a collection and the three perfumes he created for the Parfums Ann Gerard Collection exemplify what a collection really means.
One word, more than any other, makes my stomach fall when we are talking about perfume. That word is “reformulated”. There were already a couple flankers of both Silences and Jacomo de Jacomo, and this is to be expected when something sells so well. Now we have Silences Eau de Parfum Sublime and Jacomo de Jacomo Original to consider.
Diptyque Volutes was inspired by a memory of a cruise, with destinations that brimmed with exotic smells and tastes, and the companionship of languid women with Egyptian cigarettes lounging against the rails, watching the retreating skylines and churning wake.
