My path to perfumery began when I met Dawn Spencer Hurwitz of DSH Perfumes in 2009 and began an open-ended apprenticeship. The Burning Man festival has also figured prominently as both an inspiration and an artistic outlet.

Phoenicia Perfumes was founded with the motto “No Boundaries ~ No Limitations”. My perfume lab is like a mad scientist’s, I blend for happiness and harmony, and on the other hand I am looking for to take us out of our comfort zones if only for a four-hour journey….what do we have to lose?
I’ve always been aware of the connection between science and art. When I smell a fragrance I rarely concentrate on the individual notes, instead searching for the structure, base, and foundation that inform its character. For me, being an American perfumer means respecting tradition while not being bound by it.
