Ever since Celine Verleure of Olfactive Studio released her three Olfactive collaborations there has been great anticipation by perfumistas all over the world. The "darling" of many perfume bloggers' reviews has been Chambre Noire
Chambre Noire- fragrance by Dorothee Piot photos by Clemence Rene-Bazin
Managing Editor Mark Behnke wrote in his review of all three that Chambre Noire is the darkest of the collection: Pink pepper opens Chambre Noire up with a zippy tone. The heart is jasmine combined with grassy watery papyrus and sharp violet. This creates a very interesting dynamic as strongly floral jasmine is contrasted with the sharpness of violet and all are surrounded with the pulpy green characteristic of papyrus. The base is a cornucopia of strong notes that work together to create a fragrant baseline to Chambre Noire. Sandalwood and vanilla come to the foreground first and they are followed quite rapidly by patchouli and leather. The patchouli is expertly controlled and the leather adds a softly animalic foundation to the vanilla and sandalwood. Chamber Noire travels quickly to the basenotes like sunset travels quickly to full dark. Standing in the dark room looking at the city at night the basenotes of Chambre Noire swirl around me, scent as memorable as the view.
"Mark's favorite is AutoPortrait and my favorite is Still Life. When I wrote to Celine Verleure (who was her traveling) about donating Chambre Noire for my blogothan on cancer awareness, she suggested also including her discovery kit.
Our Blog CafFeureBon is a collaboration of different voices and perspectives and is read in 186 countries. Thank you Celine for this incrediblly generous and appropriate donation. Breast Cancer doesn't play favorites.

I chose Breast Cancer Survivor Carly Simon for this post . Carly Simon was born in the Bronx, a borough of New York City. Her father, of Jewish descent, was Richard L. Simon (co-founder of Simon & Schuster), a pianist who often played Chopin and Beethoven at home. Her mother was Andrea Louise Simon née Heinemanna civil rights activist and singer,,of Black and German descent. In a 2004 interview with fashion designer Michael Kors for the July issue of Interview Magazine, Simon revealed her full ancestry as being Jewish, African, Cuban and French; she is truly a multi-cultural woman.
Carly Simon wrote Anticpation for her lover singer Cat Stevens, now known as as Yusuf Islam and is a devout Muslim.(Since the dedication is to Carly and not Yusuf. you can read about his views towards Jews somewhere else, but he isnt' riding on the peace train)
