Belle Fleur Scarlet Flower (Jerome Epinette) “Ode To Carmen”

Opera has been the inspiration for many perfumes. As far I know it has never inspired home fragrances until now. Tony Perez of Belle Fleur introduces Belle Fleur Scarlet Flower the newest addition to the Sa Majesté La Rose collection which revolves around the idea of the purple rose’s grandeur. This is a rose of different color.  Belle Fleur Scarlet Flower is both homage to the fiery gypsy-girl Carmen of Bizet’s classic opera and unexpectedly the cassia flower (which has a slightly spicy odor and is a cousin to cinnamon).Tony saw Carmen at the Metropolitan Opera last summer and the idea was born. The Bizet opera’s Carmen bring to mid bold red and of course since it part of the rose collection roses.

Scarlet Flower‘s opening notes scatter dazzling sensual colors that reveal the aroma’s complex silhouette, one free-spirited to the point of insolence. It is a smoothly transgressive bricolage of heady, colorful flowers and sultry, smoky woods that seemingly appear out of nowhere, much in the way Carmen arrives to bewitch Don José by tossing him a cassia flower ripped from her bodice – a ‘scarlet flower’ that symbolizes the impetuosity of her desires as her life unfurls in an all-enveloping, seductive reddish glow of devastating passion. Like Bizet’s lyrical compositions, Belle Fleur Scarlet Flower was constructed as a series of olfactive choral interventions, serving not only as counterpoint to the dramatic confrontations between the protagonists, but also to the uniquely entwined relationships between juxtaposing raw materials. Tony Perez recommends that you play the aria Habaneira while burning Belle Fleur Scarlet Flower so both scent and music overtake your senses.
