Azman Killer Vavoom review

Azman Killer Vavoom Karl Topham©

Imagine, for a moment, a lake of molten chocolate, and on its banks trees of colourful balloons lilting in shimmering lights.

There’s a divine chaos in the air tonight, and the crowds are caught in a euphoria of lust and uninhibited audacity.

A magic carpet transporting desires to a carnival of sensory paradise. It is the essence of freedom and love.

Poetry by Raef ©

A narcotic and mesmeric scent, which produces a sensory dance of epic proportions.

The prose of life is punctuated by moments.  Moments are transitions and milestones that we cherish and hold close to us.  They have immeasurable value, provide infinite pleasure and can elevate our consciousness to new heights.  Azman Perfumes founded by Husen Baba is a new brand (2021) that was created to elicit such emotions.  As the name suggests, Azman in Arabic translates as ‘Hours’ or ‘Moments’ to define a range of scents such create intrigue and my interest was duly peaked.

Husen Baba sought out a creative talent with the ability to fuse vintage and contemporary perfumery.  Thus, the collaboration with perfumer Miguel Matos was decided.  Azman Perfumes Killer Vavoom is a scent that has a strikingly sensual and voluptuous quality.  It is a bombastic and tempting fragrance that has a magnetic allure, In fact at a recent party numerous guests asked “What is that fragrance? It is intoxicating”.  The clash and contrast of the classic ‘chypre’ with deeply animalic undertones is achieved in an explosive meeting of florals and narcotic ingredients. Imagine the surge of intoxication against a backdrop of beauty.

“I really wanted to clash a classic structure with a contemporary twist. My perfumes often do this, they work with contrasts and clashes. And sometimes, harmony comes after a bang!”

Miguel Matos .

And wow, does Azman Killer Vavoom open with a bang! It blasts forth harmonizing the intensity of an unexpected late-night encounter with the dawning realization of deeper emotions.  The initial blast of decadent chocolate is a surprising, sizzling and explosive launch to the scent and the combination with deep, rich plum is an incredible sensation.  Killer Vavoom creates a surging crimson heat that acts like a tempting succubus, drawing one in with an intense fervor.  The chocolate akin to flowing raven locks and dark-dazzling eyes.  Whilst the plum is deep and luscious, resembling a provocative pout of full and eager lips.  As the scent draws one closer in audacious fashion – it is impossible to resist.

John Travolta and Uma Thurman in Pulp Fiction1994

Whilst the opening is pure excitement, the transition of Azman Killer Vavoom is deeply sensual.  As with the rhythm of the Tango, the perfume sways and hypnotizes as you reach the decadent heart of the fragrance. The secret here is Iris Concrete, rich, opulent and highly dosed, the effect is transfixing.  Suddenly, we are caught unawares in an embrace of buttery ambrette, chocolate and iris. The experience is pure sensuality, of delicately holding curves of hips adorned with ruby and gold. As the sultry tones mix intoxicatingly, the blurring and entrancing beat cocoon one in a lavish aura of jasmine and animalic tones of osmanthus.  Subtle hints of rose acting like delicate fingers caressing the back of one’s neck softly and lightly indicating promises yet to come.  This is a devastating combination of fine natural ingredients with a core of precious flowers, the rose augmenting the overtly sensual effect of this spell-binding scent.

The rapturous finale of Azman Killer Vavoom presents the hidden depths of a musky-leathery accord created with oakmoss.  It sweeps you across the dance floor with the smoothness of a fine pair of black and red Louboutin heels.  The amber and vanilla add a slightly gourmand nuance to the tone of the scent, which expresses danger on all fronts!  Sweet words dripping with honey whispered into one’s ear with anything but pure intentions.  Earthy patchouli rounds off the composition beautifully and perfumer Miguel Matos’ palette here is used as a weapon of seduction and entrancement.

As a result, Azman Killer Vavoom blends the addictiveness of gourmand facets, the animalic and carnality of white flowers and the depth of leathery touches.  Bold, beautiful, erotic and deeply sensual, Azman Killer Vavoom is the scent that will enrapture you, it will entice you and will leave anyone around you truly breathless. Try it if you dare.  Don’t say you weren’t warned!

  • As with the other review of Azman perfumes, they sound opulent and innovative. Like most of my favorite perfumes, Killer Vavoom has an animalic note, some raunchiness to break up the sweetness. This it why I think it sounds fantastic. And let’s not forget the chocolate and iris! Fun and sensual.
    I live in Denmark, EU.

  • Azman Killer Vavoom looks like a rich gourmand fragrance with rich notes of chocolate, amber and vanilla. Given the fact that Miguel created it, I was expecting it to be big on doses of major gourmand notes since that is Miguel’s style. I am in US.

I love the meaning of the name Azman! I love iris and Karl describes this note as “rich, opulent and highly dosed, the effect is transfixing.” That sounds intoxicating! I also love how he describes this perfume as “bold, beautiful, erotic and deeply sensual” I really need this perfume in my life!

  • Oh this sounds rich and wonderful! I enjoy Dior Homme Parfum for its sensual blend of iris, cacao, rose and Leather and this sounds like it maybe does a similar thing with a twist. I find Miguel Matos a fascinating and passionate creator and want to try all his work. In US

  • Karl! ❤️ What a fabulous review! I’ve just received my AZMAN discovery kit (most excellent customer service & fast shipping). These scents have a connecting fiber of richness & depth, prismatic like fine crystal. I’m enthralled at how the animalic facets work in Killer Vavoom, as they interplay and evolve through this dynamic scent. The iris, plum, chocolate, leather journey with all its accompanying notes & shades is fascinating! I would love to win a full bottle! Thank you for this opportunity! ❤️ USA

  • I’ve been reading all the recent reviews here of Amanda Perfumes ans they all sound amazing. Killer Vavoom sounds like an amazing and intense journey. I love the idea of the chocolate and plum mixing with iris and ambrette as well as the other florals, then transitioning to a ambery leathery base. This line from Karl’s review really makes this one I must try, “Azman Killer Vavoom blends the addictiveness of gourmand facets, the animalic and carnality of white flowers and the depth of leathery touches.” Thanks for the generous draw, from CT USA.

  • this: >>> Bold, beautiful, erotic and deeply sensual, Azman Killer Vavoom is the scent that will enrapture you, it will entice you and will leave anyone around you truly breathless. <<<

  • As a fan of Miguel Matos’ creativity, I’m drawn to Killer Vavoom. Plum, chocolate and all those beautiful flower notes? On my wishlist it goes! Thanks for another wonderful review and generous draw. Mich USA

  • Jennifer J says:

I like the name. I love the presentation also. The base notes are some of my favorites, Patchouli in particular. I love that it’s bombastic because I’m not, so I don’t mind my fragrance speaking for me. “Try it if you dare”. Okay. I’m game. U.S.A.

  • Ooh I love plum! I just love gourmand leaning scents in general that manage to ride the line between not being too foody but still delectable. Intoxicating and irresistible? Sounds good to me. USA

  • Karl, you did an amazing job with this review! I have smelled just a few fragrance that are “intoxicating” and they are among my favorites, so this one, I might say, is surely a true gem, one that I would love to smell.
The plum, chocolate and animalic notes really makes me crazy.
I wishh to try Azman Perfume Killer Vavoom because of its power, its notes and because I love intoxicating fragrances.

  • Iris and chocolate is a combination I wish more perfumers would use in their creations. The dry, bold statement is a great architecture to build a perfume around. This one sounds wonderful. Thank you! I am in the US

  • I love chypres, I love chocolate, and I love challenging fragrances. This sounds like it ticks all those boxes. I’d love to try it! I’m in Oklahoma, USA.

  • Claumarchini says:

You really sparked my interest in Azman Perfumes with your great and intense reviews, and this last one from Karl makes me really want to try Killer Vavoom so bad!! Starting with the name, continuing with the list of notes and finishing by the emotions that it seems to evoke, it really looks like a fantastic scent. Despite the fact that spring is approaching, I have been recently reaching out for heavy, sensual and intoxicating scent in this period, I don’t know why…I am sure I would really enjoy Killer Vavoom, it is just such a confidence booster to feel surrounded by sensuality!! Greetings from Italy

  • The photographs of dancers and that dare at the end! I would dare to try this! Writing from the EU.

  • This reads like a dream! This is the third Azman fragrance that piqued my interest. After reading the review on Cafleurebon for their first two fragrances – Majoon and I Am Darkness, I fell in love with this house, and this one seems like another great, great addition.

Miguel Matos is, in my opinion, one of the most interesting perfumers of today. His brand is top notch, but his collabs with Sarah Baker and Nishane have left me speechless. He has a knack for animalics that are not screechy or over the top – they are just right.

And seeing this note listing – Top notes: Bergamot – Plum – Chocolate; Heart notes: Osmanthus – Iris – Rose – Jasmine – Ambrette; Base notes: Amber – Oakmoss – Patchouli – Musk – Leather – Vanilla, this sounds just divine – we absolutely need more plums in perfumery! So underrated!

I loved Karl’s review, his analogy to tango is just spot on, the sensuality, carnality of tango seems to be a perfect way to describe this perfume, at least from what I can imagine!

I would love to win this bottle, sadly I didn’t win the other two! 😀 I live in Croatia, EU and I follow Cafleurebon on instagram – my handle is @il.dolce.papi

I cannot agree more, Karl, my own writing is in progress, what a captivating, surprising and delicious perfume creation this is. Miguel is ascending new heights and gives us curious and twisted turns that lead us up alleyways unknown and encounters that take your breath away.

  • How exciting can this perfume sound!? The plum and chocolate got me super interested. It’s quite an unusual combo and actually extremely unusual since Karl says Killer vavoom is actually a chypre.
The seductive leather undertones and narcotic ingredients seem to complement a rather sensual, come hither kind of scent that I would be delighted to try.

Don’t say you weren’t warned A beautiful description by Karl I love Gourmand fragrance but I am really fascinated by the notes especially Chocolate and Patchouli notes in particular as well as the jasmine. I would love to try this on skin. Thanks a million from the United Kingdom

  • I wish to try this because I want to have the experience of this narcotic and mesmeric scent and the which then might produce a sensory dance of epic proportions. US

  • This sounds unbelievably perfect for me, with everything I want in a scent. Vintage plus modern, chocolate plus Chypre plus… Also, your review gives a strong impression of a kind of exciting danger. Better to get in a fragrance than elsewhere!

  • Nice review Karl! I would like to try Azman Killer Vavoom because is a bold, erotic and sensual scent. These 3 adjectives you used to summarize the perfume were enough for daring to try it. I would love to leave anyone around me breathless! There are times that you want skin scents, but It is great to have in my shelves a perfume that arouse hope or desire on someone. Love to see how Miguel Matos uses a palette here to make a scent of desire without limits. Also, because I am a fan of osmanthus that are listed in the heart notes, even the chocolate & Iris dance seems to steal the show here with the help in the final act with the musky-leathery accord created with oakmoss. I live in Spain, EU.

This sounds like a must try. I live in Romania, EU.

  • Jake Dauod says:

I am drawn into this fragrance by its gorgeous notes. It sounds so decadent, luscious, and deep. The chocolate, plum, and leather are mainly peaking my interest, but the accompanying patchouli, amber, and rose should compliment these notes gorgeously. I adore gourmands, and this sounds like it won’t disappoint. Also, I loved that Karl wrote about the inspiration behind this fragrance and a little bit about the brand. I really have enjoyed the past couple reviews on Azman Perfumes and I would like to try some of their offerings. Kind regards from IN, USA.

  • redwheelbarrow says:

OMG this sounds amazing!!! I am so curious about this house and this review was great! I mean, the description of it as a tempting succubus is enough for me and then you add notes like chocolate, plum, and jasmine?! Yes, please! Thanks for the review and draw. In the US.

  • Would love to try Vavoom for its lovely notes – leather, musk, patchouli, amber, oakmoss, and rose. The comment by Karl that Vavoom is a “narcotic and mesmeric scent, which produces a sensory dance of epic proportions” intrigues me. Karl’s writing accompanied by sensual pictures paint a beautiful picture of Vavoom. I haven’t tried anything by Azman Perfumes, yet, but would love to. Thanks for the review and a generous draw. I am writing from the USA.

  • Jeremy Upshaw says:

This sounds amazing… I think most of us can remember back to a moment of lust and intrigue – a memorable kiss, a touch, an evening of passion… more than just a memory, but an imprint on the soul. What an awesome formulation, to paint that on a palette of aroma… gah, I can’t wait to get a chance to smell (and wear) this!! – Oklahoma, USA

  • Enjoyed the review. The opening blast of chocolate with plum and later Iris coming has me really interested in Killer Vavoom. Nice looking bottles as well. Thanks for the draw, ca

  • GennyLeigh says:

This sounds like a sensuous gourmand. The plum and chocolate notes seal it for me. Along within the rose and jasmine, there are some interesting floral notes; iris and osmanthus. The base notes with the musk and leather and gourmand ambery vanilla ties it together. Yum! MD, USA.

  • Thanks for the article Karl!

Another great fragrance from Azman Perfumes! After Nicoleta’s review of Majnoon I had a look at their website and was hoping to see a review soon of Killer Vavoom here on CaFleureBon!

I’m not disappointed! Your review is exactly what I was hoping for. A bold, beautiful, erotic and deeply sensual fragrances.
The combination of buttery Ambrette, Chocolate and Iris is what piques my interest. And the addition of a deep and luscious Plum in the opening sounds delicious. I cannot wait to try this!

    Greetings from the UK!

  • For some reason there is something drawing me towards Azman perfumes. This is my number one brand I want to try as soon as possible. With Killer Vavoom there are two main reasons why I’d really like to try this….Miguel Matos being the perfumer and the fact that I truly believe he could create something amazing with this combination of notes. Chocolate fragrances can often be simple or uninteresting, but combination of chocolate, plum and different florals by Miguel just hands has to be good. I’m from Illinois, US.

  • I wish to try it because I have so far no good plum perfume ein my collection.

    Living in Germany, EU

  • The description was so sensual, borderline carnivorous! I loved it, especially the succubus reference lol. Could the perfume possibly be sultrier than the accompanying prose? I have my hopes high since both plum and chocolate notes are big favourites of mine. There is something “deep” and “flowy” about them. The surrounding notes also give an impression of sophistication so that we don’t veer into confectionary territory. Sounds like a winner! Greetings from Greece!

  • You can just feel Karl’s excitement and enthusiasm about Killer Vavoom. This fragrance sounds like a beautiful and special scent. Intoxicating, sensual and voluptuous! Chypre with animalic undertones, explosive meeting of floral… I really love what this fragrance sounds like.

  • NituNicolae says:

Plum, iris and leather is a sexy combination! The comparison to Quentin Tarantino’s Pulp Fiction makes me wonder if this goes a bit into a “cocaine” addictive vibe (hopefully the answer is yes!). Thank you for the opportunity! Romania, EU.

  • Lacy Lascelle says:

Plum and Chocolate!? I can just tell this fragrance will TURN peoples heads, so its immediately perfect.

  • I love the complexity of notes in the perfume. Chocolate is a note that I love dearly. I would love to add this perfume to my collection, and Karl’s description of the perfume makes me want to devour this scent!

    Live in the USA.

  • I’m a big fan of Miguel Matos’ creations and this sounds really wonderful. I love classic Chypres, but this one is very modern and sensual with the chocolate and Iris Concrete note as mentioned by Karl. This one will be going high on the bucket list. Marit UK

  • I liked Azman’s ideas and presentations even before I try any of their perfumes. Karl is right when describes Killer Vavoom as it has a magnetic allure 🙂 I like the musky-leathery notes and here I think it will be magic with the Oakmoss. Animalic, white flowers, and leathery touches are contradicted notes and I think this is the secret and the dynamo of this unique perfume. I’m in the US

  • I would love to try Azman’s Killer Vavoom because firstly I love the perfumer Miguel Matos and his artistry of fragrances. Secondly, the notes of this Gourmand sound like a perfect blend. Karl’s descriptions “a scent that has a strikingly sensual and voluptuous quality. ” Thank you for the chance. USA

  • Michael Prince says:

I loved Karl’s review on Azman Perfume Killer Vavoom because of how Karl elaborates in extensive detail about how this beautiful chypre styled fragrances with sweet and succulent gourmand nuances is so intoxicating that really captured my attention. I would love to try this because I love sweet, resinous, and gourmand fragrances with this intriguing amount of depth and I also like traditionally styled chypre fragrances. I am from the USA.

  • wallygator88 says:

Thanks for the great review Karl. Azman Killer Vavoom sounds like it should belong in the Zoologist world. I appreciate how the decadent top notes of this fragrance lead into a floral bouqeuet of Osmanthus, Rose, Iris and ambrette – equal parts seductive and lovely, which opens the way for the animalic facets of the base notes.

    Cheers from WI, USA

  • Killer Vavoom sounds incredibly sensual and spell-binding, as pointed out by Karl. The combination of chocolate, iris, plum, and jasmine must smell amazing. I enjoy gourmand fragrances and Killer Vavoom seems like it’s the perfect gourmand without being too cloying. I have never tried Azman but I would love to win Killer Vavoom. I am located in the USA. Thank you, Karl, for the review, and thank you to Azman for the giveaway.

  • I want to try this fragrance for multiple reasons, e.g. when Karl describes it as having a “strikingly sensual and voluptuous quality”, and I want to try it because of its list of notes. I’d like to see how the perfumer uses the ingredients, e.g. the combination of iris, plum, chocolate, and ambrette. I live in the U.S.A. Thanks for the giveaway opportunity.

  • My eyes widened reading this gorgeous review! I don’t often try chocolate fragrances, but the composition is too sensually described to resist and a sample must be sought out. I have a passion for vintage fragrances, and Carlos Maria’ idea of vintage style with a contemporary twist for me hook, line, and sinker. I haven’t heard of this brand before and now I’ll be on the hunt. I’m in the USA.

I wish to try Azman’s perfume because I love animalic chypres with strong floral notes and narcotic headiness – they are my absolute favorite category of fragrances and I cannot ever get enough. What interests me about Karl’s review is learning that the perfumer wanted to create something with a classic structure clashing with a contrasting contemporary twist, which resulted in a fragrance that opens with a blast, but then smooths out into something deeply sensuous and smooth, with the strong opening of chocolate and plum moving into lavish jasmine and animalic osmanthus, and musky leatheriness. I live in the US.

  • Danny Constantinescu says:

The combination of the gourmand, white florals and leather sounds mind-blowing, and Karl’s likening the perfume to a sensual tango (including the imagery from Pulp Fiction, one of my all time favourite movies), is beyond enticing. I live in London.

  • Everything Miguel does catches the attention in a way or another. This frase says all: “Azman Killer Vavoom blends the addictiveness of gourmand facets, the animalic and carnality of white flowers and the depth of leathery touches.”

  • Hope to try this one and the other from the brand, the sound vey good, bit difficult now here in Spain
