Ava Luxe Café Noir + Amber = Comfort Coffee + ‘WAKE-UP & SMELL THE COFFEE’ Draw

Ahhhh…CAWFEE.

One would think that the Combo Clown [or the Amber Queen, if you prefer] is java-dependent, judging by my recent aromatic blatherings.

Not so.

While I adore a well-brewed LARGE cup of Mr. B’s most excellent elixir in the a.m., I’m not one to repeat the ritual unless it’s celebratory-

Meeting up with old [or new] friends, entertaining guests, or traveling.

I must be one of the few nurses in existence who has NEVER been spotted sipping the stuff on duty.

Ever.

It’s a fact.

Still, there’s no denying coffee’s irresistible olfactory allure.

And when you get yourself a hunky amber to layer it with-

Well, why not?

Let’s get snuggly and mix it up.

Café Noir notes:

Black coffee bean, allspice berries, cardamom, French lavender, attar of roses, cedar, patchouli, vanilla, mocha, sandalwood, Siam benzoin, and ambrette seeds.

Café Noir loves ambers dearly; while it’s perfectly beautiful and balanced all by itself, it welcomes company.

Pair it up with Ambre Foncé, and you substantially increase the longevity of this already long-lasting parfum.

Ambre Foncé is darkly, deeply vanillic and it cushions the spicy coffee note-

Spicy black coffee, with very little sugar to speak of.

Do you prefer a chai-like sweetness with your coffee?

Wearable Coffee á la Masala?

Then grab Ambra Tibet and layer away.

You’ve cocooned yourself in vanillic cardamom coffee, complete with subtle animalic notes.

This baby will linger longer and envelop you in java joy.

I guarantee it.

Some prefer honey with their coffee; Ambre d’Or possesses a velvety, tobacco-y honeyed timbre.

This is a very thick Tunisian amber, and when combined with Café Noir, more complex aspects of the fragrance begin to surface.

Not as sweet as you’d expect.

Yet one more satisfying way to get a blissful groove on.

Too much of a good thing?

PLEASE.

You’re talking to the wrong person, honey.

Perfume is my drug-of-choice.

If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it !

I’d like to share this experience with one dear reader.

I’ll put aside four little vials:

Ambra Tibet

Ambre D’Or

Ambre Foncé

Café Noir

And you can play as it pleases you 😉

My pleasure.

As you wish…

  • Ida you are a poetic wroter! I love your style and something about it certainly makes me happy and youthful! I would love to sniff these lovelies=)

  • Ida, i have Cafe Noir and adore it…i am a coffee lover so this fragrance is perfect, sometimes i like to layer mine with another Ava Luxe fragrance called Milk……….heavenly. Fragrances are my drug of choice also. Very nice write up, i enjoyed reading this.

  • Yes, drug of choice is accurate indeed. I thought that I accidentally left my SOTD decant at home today. I was pawing through my bag, searching every pocket, neeeeding an afternoon spritz as the morning "dose" wore off. Luckily, I found it, and all was well in the world again. Oh and those four little vials sound fabulous!

Funny that you mention perfume is your drug of choice. My name is Taffynfontana and I am a perfumeholic and quitting is not an option!

  • well you need several fixes every day……you start of light and you inevitable work your way into heavier stuff………you find it hard to think about anything else but the next buzz……of course its a drug:))
please enter me in the draw

  • As it turns out, I just received Café Noir and Ambra Tibet last week… I have not layered them yet, but shall definitely do so this evening… 🙂

  • Ooh, you don't understand . . . I LOVE the scent and taste of coffee. I've worn Vanille Mokha in the past, but most days it's a tad sweet for me.

  • Cafe Noir's my favorite coffee fragrance, and I'd love to try it with these ambers — they all sound delectable!

  • You are truly the only nurse I've ever met that doesn't chug the coffee, or beg for a caffeine IV! I don't even want to think how many cups I'd go through on a night shift, or on an evening/night double, or even a weekend 12-hour. Yikes! Nurses are basically caffeine junkies, as a general rule…. So please enter me in the draw!

  • I like coffee but unfortunately I can't have it. Coffee gets on my nerves. It makes my body hurt from toes to head. My shoulders tense, my head aches, and sometimes I shiver…
Fortunately, it does not always happen. Sometimes I have coffee and nothing bad happens…
Anyway, I would like to try these samples of different ambers so please, enter me in the draw 🙂  Thank you!

  • One of my best friends, also a nurse, swears SHE is the only nurse who doesn't drink coffee. And doesn't EVER.  On a chilly, gloomy morning there's nothing better than a cup of coffee (tea just doesn't do it).
Love the idea of layering these different scents–I'm usually too chicken to get this adventurous.

  • I can't start the day without a hot, steaming cup of strong, black coffee.  I think I need one now!

  • Mmm, coffee…..first thing I do when I get up in the morning is to stagger into the kitchen and make coffee.  Does coffee-scented fragrance have the same pick-me-up effect?  Please do enter me!

  • Oh I have been dying to try this scent.  Coffee as perfume? Sign me up.  I would love to be entered in the drawing.  Ava Luxe's scents are all so magical.

  • Oooh, yes, please sign me up for this. Ida, you're the one who first introduced me to Ava Luxe, and because of you I got myself some Palisander for Christmas. LOVE it! The only thing about this line I regret is that it's not that easy to sample her stuff.

  • Scentabulous says:

Oh … addicted, indeed.  Kenyan, very strong.  Brewed properly.  It's a shame … Not as healthy as the 'fume addiction, or the book addiction … or there's lipstick … pfffttt … I shant go on!  I love the thought of amber with the scent in my kitchen each morning … maybe that has something to do with the fact that so many of my fragrances are built on amber notes … hmmm …

  • I'd love the chance to try a good coffee fragrance. When I was young I adored the smell of coffee and was frustrated by the taste, which always let me down. Eventually I did learn to love the taste, but the smell is still the best part.

  • Ooh yes please Ida, do pretty please put my name in the hat too. ~ I've long wondered exactly which of those Ava ambers would suit me best. But yet to find any samples. :o( … +++  I'm a lover of coffee fragrances. So ….
AND  thanx for the thoughtful draw !  Most intriguing ! :o)

  • The only help to winter-blues in this long, cold and snowy january; coffee and perfumes 🙂 . Both have an extremely conforting effect on me, like 'kittens and warm wollen mittens'.  Have wanted to try Cafe Noir for some time, and the the layerings sound fab, pls enter me in the draw.

  • you smell!!! says:

I'd love to try the Cafe Noir, I heard good things about it. Please enter my name in the draw.

  • Coffee, well…always a delight with so different tastes, all just in a cup…. in the morning- wake Up at home, a Latte Macciato giggeling with friends- expresso in Rome, turkish coffee in Istambul, a rush in coffee in New York, fresh brewed from the coffee fields in Mexico City ahhh not to forget traditional, very classic coffeehouse in Wien, Austria, and on the skin …unique Gourmet desire, ohhh Yeah…. Amber…. oriental seduction in mind, on the skin, in combination, adictible in deed! Totally impact included, smell, smell…joy

  • lovely article! and enticing too! I am an Ava-Luxe fan (her dupes and originals) but haven't yet tried any of these scents. please enter me in the drawing. thanks!

  • Ava Luxe is yet another house that intrigues me immensely.  Cafe Noir sounds very interesting.  Ambre d'Or makes me swoon!

Yes, who said "too much of a good thing?" I can't make sense of these sounds 🙂

  • I gave up coffee a while back, now I just drink green tea. Cafe Noir is just perfect when I'm jonesing for a cuppa. Ida, I love your artful blends of amber and cafe. Marvelous! Will you come work with me, there is a permanent job opening for you honey, if you ever want one 🙂
    hugs and smooches,
    Serena

So happy you enjoy the reading part…and hopefully, the sniffing, too.
I'm eager to send off the goodies !

    Serenochka– don't tempt me 😉
