I don’t know about everyone but when I’m reading a book besides imagining what everything looks like in my mind’s eye I also seem to have a mind’s nose as well. Part of my imagining the mise en scene is thinking what it must smell like. Lorenzo Villoresi has been making a series called “Fantasy Fragrances” and his latest release is Theseus.
Every four years a strange thing happens. We have an extra day in the month of February. This year, I thought it would be fun to look back at some very interesting perfumes that have “gone the way of the dodo”, as it were. Oh, they are still available (here and there) but now that they are “lost” (no longer in production).
The Electron Rose has a brilliant pink aspect to it and it is said the sap also carries a subtle fragrance. The Electron Rose is a hybrid tea rose. The idea of A Dozen Roses Electron the fragrance is to capture the vibrancy of this almost neon colored rose.
Thankfully there are fragrances which come along to remind me that simplicity has its charms. One perfume house which seems to have a great track record at finding beauty in simple constructions is Diptyque, the latest bit of simple beauty from them is Eau Rose.
A Lab On Fire is a small label under the S-Perfume umbrella. They are making an impact by attracting some of the finest perfumers working to compose their fragrances. For What We Do In Paris Is Secret they asked Dominique Ropion to be the perfumer.
I love Mr. Brosius’ ability to create fragrant landscapes and scent memories. Mr. Brosius allows me to learn something entirely different about a note I thought I knew everything about- in this case Vanilla. This is not your typical vanilla
