NEW FRAGRANCE REVIEW: BOND No.9 I Love NY for Fathers & I Love NY for Marriage Equality

Bond No.9 has added two more scents to their “I Love NY” line. These are the sixth, For Fathers, and seventh, For Marriage Equality, fragrances in a line that will eventually number fifteen. Many of our perfumista brothers and sisters roll their eyes, sigh and say “Really? Two more are out…already?” I am here to tell you that both of these fragrances are worth trying.

NEW FRAGRANCE REVIEW: Comme des Garcons Series: PLAY – Red, Green, and Black – A Play on Color

The latest fragrances from Comme des Garcons are a playful trio of scents composed of notes that relate to the colors each scent is named for. The series is called Play, and the scents are Red, Green, and Black. Antoine Maisondieu is the perfumer for all three, and the cheerful heart logo, which also appears on the Play clothing brand, is designed by Filip Pagowski.

NEW FRAGRANCE REVIEW Heeley Extraits Agarwoud, L’Amandiere, and Bubblegum Chic + Sample Set Draw

Heeley has only previously worked with Eau de Parfum strength compositions and those have a clear strong sense of architecture in their form. With the extraits I was curious if there would be a softening of that spine and a bit more malleability within these new releases. If anything Agarwoud, L’Amandiere, and Bubblegum Chic do show Mr. Heeley can work in a different style.

NEW FRAGRANCE REVIEW: Sonoma Scent Studio “Forest Walk” -Yosemite Redux

As I mentioned in my review of Mandy Aftel’s Aftelier Sepia it was the result of one of the more interesting internet projects hosted on NathanBranch.com and called “Letters To A Fellow Perfumer”. What was so compelling about this written intercourse was two talented independent perfumers talking openly about their path from concept to juice in a bottle. Laurie Erickson’s finished perfume is called Forest Walk.

TRUE BLOOD Returns-The Scents of Bon Temps

True Blood (an HBO series based on the Sookie Stackhouse novels by Charlaine Harris) takes this one step further. Vampires have come “out of the coffin” and for the last four seasons have had many of us rapt in front of our televisions on Sunday summer nights. As I watch the show, I often imagine what scents these intriguing characters would wear.
