I felt like the Joan of Arc of scent as I entered the Setai, NYC. When I pushed through the revolving doors, my daydream armor instantly dissolved into a veil, as my body was confronted, changed, comforted, and inspired by……. air, scented air, scented air that seemed to cut through the space.
Women had freed themselves of the stifling layers of clothing and now wore simpler fashion but with that casual elegance I am talking about. It has an amazing amount of sophistication and a vintage vibe while still feeling relevant for the present day.
When I heard Neil Morris had a new Earthtones scent, and that I was receiving a sample, I was overjoyed as I was already in love with North Woods (Earthtones #3)! When I heard it was a “tropical lagoon” scent; however, I was less than enthused.
A few months ago, I was sent a sample of perfume by Maggie Mahboubian of Parfums Lalun called Acqua di Callitis. I unearthed the sample she had sent me and decided to give it a try. I am glad I waited, because it is the perfect scent for right now, when I have a few coveted warm days ahead.
Pierre Guillaume has been fascinating me with his Huitieme Art Parfums line from the beginning. I’ve always found the best of the Huitieme Art Parfums as studies in the possibilities of the central ingredient and the newest and tenth member of the Huitieme Art Parfums family, Podre de Riz is an excellent example of what I am talking about.
Thierry Mugler chose to age four Thierry Mugler fragrances in specially made casks for four weeks with Alien, Angel, A*Men, and Womanity to create The Scent of Leather Collection. Each of the fragrances I received have a significant leather facet to them and it shows up differently in Alien, Angel, and A*Men.
