I was reminded of my youthful travels with the new release from The Different Company called Aurore Nomade. I don’t know if M. Duchaufour has ever visited Grenada but Aurore Nomade is that mix of spice, rum, fruit, and flowers I remember.
A hedonist is defined as “one who believes pleasure is of the highest good”. Award-winning Hungarian perfumer Viktoria Minya has released her first fragrance and called it Hedonist and it is truly a delight for the senses.
San Francisco recently hosted our second Salon, and I found some new talent, including Mik, the San Francisco-based perfumer for a new line called MIKMOI. Mik launched his line the day of the Salon, and it was the kind of launch I really appreciate; his Asian-influenced design aesthetics were cohesive and I have to say the perfumes, Ao, Itoh, Aldwych, and Vesper, are delightful.
The new Le Parfum Couture Denis Durand for M. Micallef is one of the very best fragrances M. Micallef has ever released. Mme Micallef and M. Durand are friends and admirers of each other’s creativity; that shared passion led to a particularly harmonious collaboration.
With the release in 2005 of Dior Homme the idea that “woods are for boys and florals are for girls” was broken with a floral fragrance marketed to men which featured a new masculine floral as its focal point.
I hold the strip under my nose and am greeted by lemon. As focused and concentrated a lemon as I have ever encountered. For their tenth fragrance, Acqua Decima, Eau D’italie presents their first citrus fragrance and it is as bright as the August sunshine in Positano.
