The Jouany Collection was originally scheduled to launch in July, but those of us who attended Sniffapalooza’s Spring Fling were privileged to sample the first two fragrant offerings: Marrakech and St. Barthélemy.
One of my favorite fragrances of 2010 was Dawn Spencer Hurwitz’s Bancha it grabbed me from first sniff. When I saw Ms. Hurwitz in at Fall Ball 2010, I asked her about making an extreme version of Bancha. She did. It is 100% natural and botanical as was the original.
Judith Leiber is releasing the second fragrance under her name, Judith Leiber Night. Judith Leiber Night has a typical Oriental fragrance architecture but it somehow succeeds where the original Judith Leiber fragrance failed for me. Night is a simple woody amber but it has a few more creative nuances than I expected to find.
However, I soon discovered that not all jasmine is equal- in fact, never again did I find any to rival that grown in Tamil Nadu…until I stumbled upon a sample of Bulgari’s Jasmine Noir.
This summer we can truly say there is a fashion trend for everyone. It’s as if the world of style has thrown their doors wide open, and, they’ve decided that this summer, anything goes.
