Palo Santo takes its name from a tree that grows in Ecuador and Peru. It is known as a deeply sacred wood of the Amazon with healing and metaphysical properties. Indochine evokes the countries surrounding the South China Sea, and their Chinese and French influences.
Tonka beans are a key ingredient in many vintage perfumes such as Guerlain’s Shalimar (1925), where it was used with a deft touch to give depth and diffusion to floral absolutes such as rose and jasmine. With its caramel and spice aspect, tonka is a natural for gourmand perfumes accenting notes such as vanilla and chocolate.
Many braved “the elements” in the dead of winter to attend the three-day Elements Showcase in NYC. In my mind Elements has always been a celebration of niche perfume for both emerging and established brands, and like others passionate for perfume nothing not even sleet, snow nor slush could keep us away
Both perfumers have spent long periods of time in the South Pacific around Australia experiencing life on their terms. It is why, in the case of both of these perfumers, the few creations which actually make it into our hands; there is a palpable joie de vivre. Sadly, Magnolia Sandrine is the last perfume for Sandrine Videault as she passed away all too soon
