Atelier Des Ors Riviera Sunrise Review (Marie Salamagne) 2022 + Summer in The Sun Giveaway

Atelier Des Ors Riviera Sunrise

Atelier Des Ors Riviera Sunrise by Olya Bar©

If you’ve ever been to the South of France, you know the most addictive feeling of leisure and playfulness you experience during the summer months in the Mediterranean sun. It seems as if the entire European continent clocks out of work, hangs their working attitude in the closet, and packs nothing but good vibes with them. The whole coast becomes charged with a feeling of leisure, curiosity and anticipation of an adventure.

Riviera Sunrise, the latest addition to the Riviera collection by Atelier des Ors translates that exact mood. Expansive sea views, salty azure waters, a vivid palette of colors, varied natural landscapes, and the relics of old-school glamor are all the beautiful luxuries of life that can be experienced through the Riviera collection. I fell hard for the first three releases; but now with a new olfactory chapter, they all sum up what a perfect day on the French Riviera is about. Waking up in the morning with nowhere to go, sipping on a freshly squeezed orange juice, possibly with a splash of chilled champagne, dipping into the turquoise waters of the pool at a chic small villa, and bronzing up your skin under the warm rays of the sun while reading a book.

Cap d’Antibes 2017 by Olya Bar©

And not any book but specifically Bonjour Tristesse by Françoise Sagan. I grew up reading her books and would devour them over the summer months when I had extra time to get away from it all and daydream about vacationing in France one day. My dream came true many years later, and I will never forget the anticipation. I felt as if I already knew what to expect. I was not disappointed. On the contrary, I fell madly in love. Ateliers Des Ors Riviera Sunrise captures that morning filled with romance, joy and lust for life.

Movie Still of Jean Seberg as Cecile Bonjour Tristesse 1958©

But let’s get back to Françoise Sagan for a minute. Sagan was known for her works with solid romantic themes involving wealthy and disillusioned bourgeois characters, which became something of an icon for disillusioned teenagers, are in some ways similar to those of J.D. Salinger. The conversations between her characters are often considered to contain existential undertones, and each fragrance from the Riviera collection feels like it can translate various chapters in the book into olfactive stories. I imagine Cecile, the 17-year-old protagonist of the Bonjour Tristesse, spending her summer in the French Riviera with her father and his mistress, the young, superficial, extremely fashionable Elsa. A romance with a beautiful boy, drama, pain, frustration of the youth, and lust for life. Despite a sad ending, it makes for a great summer read.

Atelier De Ors Riviera Sunrise has a bold opening that combines the zesty pulp of lemon, mandarin, and orange with the aromatic garnish of fresh basil. The sparkling layers of juicy and slightly bitter citrus dance with the joyful synergy of orange blossom and green fig leaf. There is a touch of fizziness in the opening you would get get from a mimosa cocktail. The base is composed of skin like musk with facets of cedarwood and earthy vetiver. It’s lush, youthful, and bursting with life. Riviera Sunrise is like a sip of summer in the bottle and a refreshing dip into the happy memories long after the last warm days of sunshine.

Notes: Italian mandarin, Orange, Lemon, Orange Blossom, Fig Leaf, Basil, Cedar, Musk, Vetiver oil.

  • I don’t know this brand, but the review makes them sound very worth checking out. This bottle, in particular, sounds like summer distilled, which is exactly what I’m looking for at this time of year, when I realize that the season’s days are numbered…

  • ianbradleyandrews says:

This sounds soooooo great. I live in Indiana and we don’t have a single place that stocks this brand. I have been wanting to try their offerings for so long. I would love to try this. The fig and Vetiver from the review truly sing out to me!

  • Olya created a perfect day at the French Riviera in her review of Riviera Sunrise. Pictures in the review also helped create this impression of a laid back day in the South of France on a perfect vacation. While the notes in Riviera Sunrise seem quite common, I like the overall relaxed effect it creates per Olya’s review. No experience with this brand so I don’t have any favorites, yet. Thanks for the review and draw. From USA.

  • Brad Woolslayer says:

I loved how Olya described the feeling of leisure on the coast of the South of France. I love fig leaf and basil, and this sounds like a very relaxing fragrance for the summertime. I live in Maryland USA.

  • Great review, sounds really great, especially if there is some fig leaf note blended in. I’ve tried and enjoyed all from their blue line but my favourite from the brand is still Lune Feline. I’m from the EU, thanks for the draw.

  • A good ol’ citrus frag is always a full proof reach for a hot summer day, especially when on holidays. I love how fresh and zesty Riviera Sunrise sounds in Olya’s words. The basil and fig leaf add even more to the Mediterranean nature of the scent and to top it, arrives the warm muskiness of sunkissed skin.
I love Lune feline by AdO.
    I live in the EU.

  • Olya’s review & Pics made me want to explore this Fragrance. It’s a love affair with Summertime and the French Riviera. Thank you for this Chance USA

  • shanonabston says:

I’ve never had much interest in traveling abroad. Her writing about it though makes want to cover myself in this fragrance and daydream about visiting the coast of France.

  • The amount of details and how beautiful the review was appealed to me, I live in Poland, EU, I don’t have a favorite from the brand because I never tried it but I would really love to try this fragrance brand one day. This house’s creations must be out of this world and unique.

  • Love atelier des ors! Hope that they be distributed soon in Milan. Greetings from Italy

  • A trip to the French Riviera is on my bucket list, and this review made we push it up a couple of spots. Choeur Des Anges is very nice. NV, USA.

  • sillage4ever says:

This is a wonderful summation from Olya, “sparkling layers of juicy and slightly bitter citrus dance with the joyful synergy of orange blossom and green fig leaf.” Summery sounding.

I’m in the USA, haven’t had a chance to explore the perfumes from Atelier Des Ors yet, thanks for the generous drawing.

  • I like this house’s classical fragrances and the overall DNA of their perfumes, but I have not tried any of the light, summery ones so I am very curious about Riviera Sunrise.
    Thank you!

  • Scott Teague says:

I really like the bottles & colors of this fragrance. Olya’s review was great! Sounds like this will be awesome for the summer. Thanks (Texas, USA)

Greetings from the Portuguese Riviera, where summer’s lush with leisure days and ocean spray.
Love the idea of layers of citruses, some sweeter, some bitter, in a perfume suitable for a vacation in the sun.

    I live in Lisbon

  • My wife will love this! Although her favourite is the beautiful Iris Fauve she really likes the entire Riviera line. And this sunrise even contains some of her favourite notes like mandarin, fig leaf and basil. This feeling of leisure and playfulness in a bottle? Yes please! I’d love to win this to Germany, thank you for the draw!

  • Nikolina_84 says:

Olya sparked my interest with “It’s lush, youthful, and bursting with life. Riviera Sunrise is like a sip of summer in the bottle and a refreshing dip into the happy memories long after the last warm days of sunshine.”
Still haven’t tried anything from the brand, hope I will soon.
    Hugs from Croatia, EU.

  • I am not in France, but I am definitely noticing the summer-no-work-happiness-only attitude you described here in my city! This month really matches your review in tone and weather. I’d love to try this as a holiday scent. Thank you for the review, writing from the EU.

  • What a beautiful review, I would love to try this. I do not yet have a favorite. But hopefully, it can be this one!! Living in the EU

  • Minus the beach, living near Nashville sure has been hot this summer. This sounds like an excellent fragrance including mandarin, Orange and lemon blended with Vetiver which is a favorite of mine. I believe the cedar musk and vetiver will allow this easy transition into a fall fragrance as well. Thank you. USA

  • I loved the review, and how it makes a parallel with the book from Francois Segan…how the perfumes captures that morning filled with romance, joy and lust for life.
Unfortunately, I don’t have much experience with the brand and this would be my first perfume….lovely notes, would like to try it!

  • I don’t have a favorite from the brand. What appealed to me was the description of this release being “like a sip of summer in the bottle. US

  • Riviera Lazuli is my favorite from the Riviera collection. I’m really excited to try Riviera Sunrise – it sounds just as good. The orange and basil notes are perfect for the warm weather. I live in Indiana.

  • Cristina Percoco says:

All of the fragrances in blue bottles from Atelier des Ors seem to be variations on a theme of citrus-forward scents. Riviera Sunrise sounds like a lovely unisex addition. Olya captures the mood of this fragrance perfectly with her description. Would love to win a bottle. Thanks for offering this giveaway. Pennsylvania, USA.

  • “Dipping into the turquoise waters of the pool at a chic small villa”, is calling me. Anything citrusy and effervescent has my name on it. Thank you for introducing me to Francoise Sagan, an author I am not familiar with. Located in USA.

  • I love Françoise Sagan and i love books and perfumes. This one seems Like a favorite one. I live in the EU.

  • Would love to try what Olya has called “summer in a bottle”, especially with notes of basil and fig leaf, which are some of my favorites! My current favorite from the brand is Lune Feline but would love to try one of their fresher offerings. MN, USA

  • I love this review!
Who wouldn’t want to experience a Riviera Sunrise?
The fragrance sounds delightful, especially the ‘orange blossom and green fig leaf’, two of my favorite notes.
I have not had a chance to sample any scents from Atelier Des Ors.
Thank you so much for the drawing.
    I am in the US.

  • What appealed to me most was the description of Atelier De Ors Riviera Sunrise having a bold opening that combines the zesty pulp of lemon, mandarin, and orange with the aromatic garnish of fresh basil. This combination is something that I need to add to my collection especially with the fig and vetiver. Been trying to add more freshness for me to wear and that seems to be what this fragrance is bringing.

My current favorite from this house is Lune Feline. Great amber, vanilla fragrance.

    I live in Dallas, TX.

  • Those blue shades of the bottle with the white cap are something sweet for the eye for sure! I bet the liquid inside is equally worthy it!
    Thank you!

  • AdventurousFox says:

Greetings from a Croatian perfume enthusiast. Although I have visited the French Riviera multiple times, the description you provided and notes from this perfume take me back straight to my childhood on a Dalmatian island. My grandparents used to live in an old stone house and had a garden full of fruit, citruses and aromatic plants. They are now long gone, but I believe my nostalgic childhood memories are the reason for my fondness of perfumes with aromatic mediterranean plants.

  • Olya says Atelier Des Ors Riviera Sunrise puts her in a holiday mood, more specifically the vibes one gets when holidaying in the South of France where it seems the whole Europe has clocked out of work. I am in US.

  • The Riviera is a lovely setting for a fragrance. The Mediterranean brings to mind sun, sea and citrus. The citrus in combination with the fig and musk sounds like an uplifting skin scent with an earthiness from the cedar, The bottle is gorgeous! Favorite Atelier des Ors is Luna Feline. I’m in MD, USA.

  • I’ve never been to the South of France but Olya just picke me up and dropped me off right there. This fragrance sounds wonderful, fizzy Mimosas and Vetiver
IRIS FAUVE Is a favorite from this house.

    I live in Indiana USA

  • Being Atelier des Ors fanboy I have smelled all of their fragrances, including Riviera Sunrise , and the premium Extrait editions .Very few select places do carry the Extrait versions through, Jovoy, Saks and just a few others.
If I have to rate my favorite Atelier des Ors fragrances:
    1. Rose Omeyyade Extrait
    2. Lune Feline Extrait
    3. Bois Sikar
When I’m on vacation, and resting on the beach, or next to the pool I prefer my History books, or epic fantasy novels.
Unlike Olya, romantic teenage dramas , and/or love affair novels are not my cup of tea, but I too am into fragrances like Riviera Sunrise , especially in the high heat.
I see the zesty and lush parts of the fragrance, but in my opinion the scent doesn’t lean into youthful territory, I believe Riviera Sunrise is classy sunny , and tart citrus blend , on top of fresh and green basil, fig , and woody, mosty cedar-musky base .
By classy i mean I can easily see Cary Grant or Grace Kelly wearing Riviera Sunrise, in the legendary Hitchcock movie To Catch a Thief , just cruising around Monaco, in the 1955 Sunbeam Alpine .
All profiles I already follow, @waltherp99bg
    Thanks a lot

  • Olya paints a beautiful picture of the French Riviera, one that I can see if I close my eyes! I have sampled a few of the Atelier des Ors scents. Rose Omeyyade is my favorite. I am in Oregon, USA.

  • Don’t have a favorite, but I like how Olya described it as sparkling and juicy, having a bold opening with a touch of fizziness that combines lemon, mandarin and orange with basil.
    EU

  • I enjoyed Olya’s description of leisure and the feeling of adventure in The South of France. It catapulted me on the seaside under the sun rays. Since I am a huge citrus and fig lover, Atelier Des Ors’s new release seems just up my alley.
My favorite perfume of the house is Lune Feline, which I bought after having read a magnificent review of “Nose knows”.

    Greetings from Slovenia,
    Nina

  • The bottle alone is beautiful. The fragrance may be similar to Bvlgari Tygar or Navitus Parfums The Key with the fizziness accord. I know this would be a summer/fall banger in my collection. Would love to try it.

  • I would love to win Riviera Sunrise, I especially like when Olya says: “Riviera Sunrise is like a sip of summer in the bottle and a refreshing dip into the happy memories long after the last warm days of sunshine.” I know that citrus fragrances are more popular in summer, but it’s when it’s very cold in winter that I like to spray on myself to remind myself of the warmth and sweetness of summer. My favorite perfume from Atelier des Ors is Iris fauve but I also like Rouge Saray. I live in France, EU.

  • katyakotovskaya says:

I loved a poetry of Olya’s review, she created such a deep and familiar feeling of lazy summer vacation accompanied by a perfectly fitting fragrance. Would love to try it. I’m from Switzerland.

  • Amanda32828 says:

I love Atelier Des Ors, their beautiful glass bottles, their juice quality, the gold particles as a bonus and off course their exquisitely curated scent profile it is all marvelous to me. I haven’t had the pleasure of smelling this one but it sound right up my alley. I love citrusy notes, they are very comforting to me, they lift my mood and spirit. Can’t wait to get my hand on this one. As usual, I enjoyed reading this amazing review, great job. Thank you Olya Bar.

  • This sounds like a perfect scent for the waning days of summer. I am crazy about the citrus and musk notes, so this is right up my alley. I’m in the US and my favorite from Atelier des Ors is Musc Immortel.

  • Regis Monkton says:

I haven’t tried anything yet from this company, but I’ve been hoping to because of highly Sebastian Jara, and other fragrance reviewers speak highly of this company. This fragrance has a lot of notes which I enjoy, e.g. orange blossom, vetiver oil, cedar, fig leaf, and musk. According to Olya’s review, I can see how the top notes go into the mid notes, and how the mid notes go into the base notes. I am interested in trying this fragrance. I live in the U.S.A.

  • all the fragrances in these blue bottles, with their gold sparkle, must be gorgeous. I have only sampled Pomelo Riviera, but sweet baby Jesus, I really really loved it.
I guess the essence of Riviera Sunrise is very well captured by Olya [btw, those photos are a[h]mazing] in these words : ‘morning with nowhere to go’ and ‘beautiful luxuries of life’.
I am living in Europe, but sadly, not on the French Riviera 🙂

  • “Waking up in the morning with nowhere to go, sipping on a freshly squeezed orange juice, possibly with a splash of chilled champagne, dipping into the turquoise waters of the pool at a chic small villa, and bronzing up your skin under the warm rays of the sun while reading a book.”

Come on Olya, I’m sold on 100% ! I need to try Riviera Sunrise as soon as possible , comfy seasonable fragrance, for the times I’m in need to reduce the levels of stress in my body.
Since I’ve sampled more than half of Atelier des Ors fragrances , i have to say Iris Fauve, Rose Omeyyade , Lune Feline and Rouge Saray stood up to me the most.
Iris Fauve is what I decided to buy, and I’ll be more than happy to win Riviera Sunrise
    Thanks for the draw

  • Even though summer is winding down, I’m always open to finding new fragrances no matter the time of year. This sounds like a great option during warmer days or lounging around the house and you want to smell great and uplifting. The fig added with the vibrant citrus sounds very appealing. I personally think they have some of the most beautiful bottles around. I’ve always had my heart set on Lune Feline. Thank you, Atelier Des Ors, for allowing one of us to win a bottle of your fragrance.

  • Oh boy, I have not gone to south France yet, but surely I will after reading this fantastic review by Olya.
The fragrance seems perfect for the warmer weather and every year round honestly. I love Atelier Des Ors because they only work with truly amazing ingredients. My favorite from the brand is Lune Feline.
    USA here.

  • IvanVelikov says:

To me Atelier Des Ors equals class , beauty and creativity , but most importantly equals Lune Feline . If i have to describe it with one word it will be phenomenal, gourmand notes are present, but still restrained, spices , tea , nice vanilla .
Not only it smells gorgeous , but gets me huge amount of compliments. I do not wear fragrances for compliments , but it’s nice to get noticed from time to time.
Unlike Lune Feline, Riviera Sunrise is more versatile, I can wear it from holidays on the French Riviera, to working with clients at the shop, to weddings.
Knowing Lune Feline, and reading Olya Bar review, I now expect Riviera Sunrise to smell awesome
Thanks Olya, and Atelier Der Ors .

  • This review really made me want to go on vacation. “Waking up in the morning with nowhere to go, sipping on a freshly squeezed orange juice, possibly with a splash of chilled champagne, dipping into the turquoise waters of the pool at a chic small villa, and bronzing up your skin under the warm rays of the sun while reading a book” sounds just about perfect. Anyway, the juicy citrus opening of Riviera Sunrise sounds wonderful, especially with a fizzy texture, and bit of basil and fig leaf to add some complexity. Thanks for the review, Olya. Great photos too!

I’m in the midwest, USA. I haven’t tried any Atelier Des Ors fragrances.

  • Michael Prince says:

I loved Olya’s review of Atelier Des Ors Riviera Sunrise and how it transports you to the South of France on the Riviera where there beautiful scenery of the coast, fresh salty sea air, citrus fruits, and sandy beaches. The entire Riviera line from Atelier Des Ors. Riviera Sunrise sounds like a fresh burst of citrus and aromatic notes with a fresh and clean musk. My favorite from Atelier Des Ors is Rouge Saray. I’m from the USA.

  • Olya!! ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ What a wonderful review!! You’ve painted the perfect vacation! I miss France so much! To be lounging at coast, reading a book, and smelling heavenly – what a dream! As the weather begins to cool here, this bottle can keep those hopes in mind for next summer! I’ve been wanting to try Atelier des Ors for some time now; thank you so much for this wonderful opportunity! ❤️ USA

  • Review describing the fragrance bringing the feel of old-school glamor and enjoying life at French Riviera sounds very appealing to me. Notes too suggest a fragrance I could enjoy. Greetings from Austria, EU

  • NituNicolae says:

I have recently tried a few Atelier Des Ors creations and I must say they are very different and almost unique. Riviera Sunrise seems like a warm slightly wet morning with a glass of orange juice under your nose. Lovely! Hope to win. Romania, EU.

  • Nice review Olya, I have just been back from my parents house in Mallorca (Our Riviera) where summer’s citrus and flowers and ripen figs relate 100% to this new perfume of this amazing Riviera collection by Atelier des Ors. As you say sea views, salty blue (and very hot this year) waters, the colors of the mediterranean sea and natural interior landscapes with the red soil and the green trees. I would change Françoise Sagan by Robert Graves and his famous opinion about Mallorca “It’s paradise – if you can stand it.”. Love the fizziness of the opening of this juicy and bitter scent! I love the smoky Bois Sikar . I live in Spain, EU.

  • foreverscents says:

What a lovely review! It made me dream of being on the Riviera and spending an August vacation on the beach, exuding nothing but good vibes. Riviera Sunrise sounds like it has the power to transport the user to a joyous beach escape. Now I am off to research books by Françoise Sagan.
    I live in the USA.

  • The blue bottle with gold flakes inside – really chic! It fits perfectly the name or viceversa. If I were to win it, I’d start looking for a trip to Nice for the next summer to wear it there and make justice to this fragrance.
    Thanks!

  • How masterful of you to include Bonjour Tristesse in this review! A cool, cheeky, sexy, melancholic dream-within-a-dream of a book, so French it hurts. If any of you haven’t read it, run, don’t walk towards a bookstore. Now, Riviera Sunrise sounds like the classic citrus explosion of freshness, but the element that sparks my interest most is the fizziness of the Mimosa cocktail. I have found that most fragrances purporting to convey fizziness use pepper notes to this end and I have a surprisingly visceral aversion to it. I am happy that no pepper is listed here and I would be thrilled to try this fragrance out. The bottle is also gorgeous. Many greetings from Greece!

  • The Mediterranean summer in a bottle! I truly dive into the bottle like diving into the sea in the summer. That’s not a dream, this is my reality and i smell it everyday! I live in Greece (EU). My favourite from the brand is Lune Feline.

  • Olya Bar take on Atelier des Ors Riviera Sunrise made me think of making Orange Blossom Fig Cake, and later on sharing it with friends on a poolparty, while also drinking freshly squeezed mandarin and orange juice. Uplifting fragrance
Smelled 3 Atelier des Ors creations and Lune Feline is my favorite , even though Rose Omeyyade and Bois Sikar are pretty good too.
For every gourmand and vanilla lover – try Lune Feline, it’s part of my collection. One of the best vanilla fragrance ever . I know vanilla well , being traditionally trained in Paris Pastry Chef. Reminds me of Cinnamon and Cardamom Rolls, every Pastry Chef learns as a beginner. I sell a lot at the bakery. The fragrance is also quite smoky.
Rose Omeyyade reminds me Pistachio & Rose water Semolina Cake with real rose water , and raspberries on top of it.
Appreciate the review, and the giveaway campaign

Thank you for the great review. Atelier des Ors is a fascinating brand.

Reading through the notes, this reminds of the the fact that summer is almost to an end. I think the most interesting thing about this fragrance is the presence of skin like musks to keep the fragrance from flying away.

A truly olfactive dip into the memories of summer.

I love Iris Fauves from this house

  • I’ve never been to the French Riviera, but Olya’s review of the fragrance and her memories of it remind me of summer’s of fun in my youth. I haven’t tried this brand before, but it sounds intriguing. I live in the USA.

  • This sounds so good! I’ve never vacationed in the Mediterranean in the summer time, but I love a good perfume that will evoke it. I do enjoy beach trips to Southern California, so I’m a big fan of the Mediterranean weather, but of course with that European flair. There’s nothing better than a good book on the beach!
I live in the USA. My favorite is Lune Feline, but so many of their fragrances sounds so good. Thanks for the giveaway!

  • You don’t have to convince me about French Riviera, freshly squeezed juice, chilled champagne, turquoise waters vacation ! I almost visualized how I’m booking a hotel, flights, and packing up the bags
The Summer is slowly approaching its end, and I’d love to experience such a trip, and relaxing fragrance, why not with
Buck’s Fizz Champagne Punch in my hand? The way I make it:
-Bottle of Champagne, lately I’m into Moët & Chandon Grand Voyage from 2012
    -Cup of Cointreau
-1 1/2 cops of freshly squeezed orange juice
    – 2 tablespoons of Grenadine
The best Atelier des Ors i think is Bois Sikar
    Thanks you for the opportunity
