“White”. Photo by Gail Gross ©
If you have ever dabbled in the visual arts, or have painted your house or tried to redecorate a bedroom, you will, no doubt, have run into the fact that colors almost never appear the same “in situ” as they do in the paint store. Fair, pearly, waxen – white is never simply “white”. More than an achromatic repository of color, every formulation of white paint, every white fabric or surface reflects light in a different way. The continuum of tones, colors and hues, the myriad of poly-chromatic effects that bloom from white can often be surprising.

Atelier Des Ors Blanc Polychrome, the newest in the Collection Blanc, explores the hues of white, presenting halos of color reflected from a brilliant liquid canvas. Creative director Jean-Philippe Clermont and perfumer Marie Salamagne offer the sweet pucker of citrus, the refreshing cool qualities of lavender, the hypnotic effects of creamy jasmine, refracted against a silver white background of Ambroxan, tinted with tones of moss.

Atelier Des Ors Blanc Polychrome opens with a splash of light, recalling rays of early morning sunshine playing off bedroom walls. Crisp green rhubarb and fig leaf compliment the astringent effects of citrus, both fruit and branch, creating a transparent sparkling glaze of scent, a startling wake-up call for the senses. The cool, sunny, purity gradually surrenders its initial edge to a joyful bouquet of radiant bell tones, olfactory hues that diffuse like watercolors over the surface of bright cotton paper.

Brush strokes of sensual jasmine, fresh cut lavender, green fig leaf and crunchy rhubarb alternately appear and dissolve into a canvas of silvery, silky Ambroxan, Atelier Des Ors Blanc Polychrome, while technically an Eau de Cologne, is persistent and long lived. The continuum of translucent colors dance on the skin for twelve hours and more, subsumed at last into a warm white pigment of musk and moss. From the first breath to the last impression, Blanc Polychrome is an ethereal, effervescent spiritual fragrance, an experience of energy, life and light that lifts the mood and calms the spirit, perfect for these uncertain times.
Notes: Mandarin, lemon, rhubarb, solar accord, petitgrain, jasmine petals, fig leaf, lavender, Ambroxan, moss and musk.
