In a multibillion-dollar industry that’s often driven by the numbers– both in dollars and products sold- fragrance can lose many of the qualities we value most, its ability to stir memories and emotions– with just a dab of scent. When the emphasis is put on ad campaigns, flankers and celebrity spokespeople as it is for a large percentage of fragrances on the market, something vital is lost… perfume as artistic expression. The 8th Art and Olfaction Finalists 2022 signal a welcome return after a two-year hiatus due to Covid. Art and Olfaction Awards Finalists 2022 (the eighth edition) were announced via a dedicated hour-long video conference. As always, the fragrances were judged without knowing the name nor the perfumer, blind judging (to remove personal bias and the judges received no compensation). Submissions for Art and Olfaction for 2022 were accepted from 2020 and 2021:

The eighth Art and Olfaction Awards will take place at the World Perfumery Congress in Miami on July 1, 2022. This marks a new collaboration between the Art and Olfaction Awards and the World Perfumery Congress (presented by the American Society for Perfumers). In a statement from the Organization “We believe that this collaboration marks an important step in creating better connections between different segments of the perfume industry. By placing independent, artisan and experimental practices with scent in the context of the larger industry, we hope to highlight the creative impulse that drives us all.”-Via press release
