Andrea Maack Flux Review (Celine Barel) 2025 + Moonless Icelandic Air Giveaway

Andrea Maack Flux by Celine Barel

Andrea Maack Flux by Olya Bar

Beneath a moonless Icelandic sky, where the aurora borealis pulses like the heartbeat of forgotten gods, Andrea Maack Flux weaves a spell that draws you into an ancient, untamed forest. This is a portal to a world where Viking blood once stained the earth in reverent sacrifice, where witches, cloaked in shadow, danced around roaring fires, their potions simmering with secrets older than time. The air is thick with the scent of crushed berries and frost-kissed evergreens, a haunting alchemy that feels like a lover’s whisper in the dark, both tender and perilous. Flux is a midnight hymn, a fragrance that binds you to the primal pulse of Iceland’s wild heart, where magic is not a myth but a living, breathing force.

As you anoint your skin with Andrea Maack Flux, an icy gust of eucalyptus and cypress surges forth, sharp and bracing, like a wind howling through a forest of towering firs and ancient sequoias. It’s as if the spirits of the woods have exhaled, their breath carrying the chill of a winter’s night in Big Sur, where moonlight fractures through the canopy, casting silver shards across the earth. Then comes a tart, almost forbidden sip of blueberry cordial—lush, ripe, and faintly sweet, like berries plucked from a sacred grove under a witch’s watchful eye. This is not the saccharine fruit of childhood; it’s a dark, intoxicating nectar, teetering on the edge of decadence, as if infused with the essence of a potion brewed in a lonely hut deep within the wilderness. The hut, wreathed in mist and guarded by gnarled cedars, is a place of whispered prophecies, where destinies are divined in the flicker of firelight and the air hums with the weight of unspoken vows.

The heart of Andrea Maack Flux pulses with an earthy, resinous depth, where cedarwood and centuries-old sequoia trees anchor the fragrance in a primal embrace. It’s the scent of soil churned by ritual, of moss clinging to rune-carved stones, of a forest floor that has witnessed both love and betrayal. The berries linger, their sweetness now tempered by a smoky, almost feral undertone, as if the witches’ fire has left its mark, charring the edges of their spell. This is a fragrance that marries the luminous and the shadowy, the delicate and the dangerous. It evokes a midnight tryst in a clearing, where two souls, bound by fate, surrender to a passion as fierce as the flames that surround them, their breath mingling with the scent of pine and sacrifice. The contrast is intoxicating: the bubblegum-bright pop of berries against the stoic, eternal presence of the forest, a dance of light and dark that feels both modern and ancient, like Iceland itself.

Andrea Maack

Andrea Maack, the visionary Icelandic brand, has created a scent that defies convention, blending the ethereal with the visceral. Andrea Maack Flux is a perfume for those who crave romance laced with danger, who find beauty in the untamed and the unknown. With a spritz of it you will find yourself wandering through this mystical forest, the ground soft with fallen needles, the air alive with the hum of unseen forces. You stumble upon a circle of stones, still warm from a ritual fire, and feel the weight of eyes watching from the shadows—perhaps a lover, perhaps a spirit, perhaps both. The fragrance clings to you like a second skin, its luminous frost melting into a warm, earthy embrace – a journey into the heart of a myth, a dark and romantic saga bottled for those curious enough to wear it.

Notes: Cardamom, Menthol, Blueberry, Eucalyptus, Cypress, Fir needles, Cedar-wood, Sequoia, Cashmere.

I love the idea of blueberries contrasted with the scent of the forest. Iceland seems like an amazing place for inspiration as well. I live in Maryland USA.

  • Olya, you transported me to Iceland and I always wanted to go there. Primal, Aurora Borealis and magical. Andrea Maack perfumes are gorgeous and unusual, I bought Jest and went through two bottles. This Flux sounds beautiful with fir needles and cardamom

What compelling moodiness! I love this poetic review, so thanks to Olya for skillfully conveying the Icelandic resonances of Andrea Maack’s Flux.

I’m completely seduced by it already, so please enter me into this draw!

I remain in Chicago, IL, USA, but this review teleported me to Iceland in my imagination.

  • Sylvia Jackson says:

Oh these notes sound wonderful, I can’t wait to smell this perfume. I love the scent profile.

  • Thomas Gonzalez says:

I’m so surprised by the differing notes in this fragrance. Berries paired with Menthol? I have yet to dive into the deep end of niche perfumery and to hear of such notes is so intriguing, it almost makes me excited. What surprises me most is when a natural atmosphere is created and actually realistic. All too often fragrances create something that isn’t photorealistic and for this fragrance to transport its wearers into a world of berries and woods and makes them feel like they’re in a forest is impressive

  • Ramses Perez says:

Reading the feeling and seeing the notes of this fragrance, I can honestly say it’s like nothing I’ve ever experienced before. When have you seen sequoia and menthol used in a fragrance? I certainly haven’t which is why this one makes it all the more intriguing to me. I wasn’t aware Andrea Maack was an Icelandic brand but the idea/concept behind this one is spot on. I can’t wait to somehow experience this one! I’m located in the USA.

I want to be in that forest communing with the elves and eating berries. The whole wine is bracing, wild and free to worship nature as the old ones did. NY State USA

  • I’ve always wanted to sample Andrea Mack fragrances. Flux with menthol and eucalyptus notes sounds so intriguing. All of her fragrance really seem to embrace the landscapes of Iceland.

  • AleksCipri says:

Sounds so interesting! I would never think to pair blueberries with fir and green woody notes. I really like this brand overall and I love green woody fragrances, so I’m super interested in sampling Flux as well. I’m from Illinois, US.

  • As a fan of Coven, by Andrea Maack, I am interested in Flux. I like the description of “berries against the stoic, eternal presence of the forest”. The Menthol and Eucalyptus notes sound wonderful to me. Thanks for another fantastic review and draw. MI USA

  • teatreesoil says:

oh my! definitely telling my best friend about this fragrance– she’s always on the lookout for eucalyptus notes without citrus & lately has been looking into forest/woody fragrances by way of pineward. i would love to compare andrea maack flux, which is inspired by icelandic vistas, to some of pineward’s catalog (primarily pacific NW inspired, to my understanding)

the blueberry note in particular sounds lovely, i’m very curious how the sweetness pairs with the brisk coolness of the menthol note!

thanks for the giveaway, from USA

  • uloveebonye says:

What sparks my interest here is really the bottle itself. It looks so interesting and I’m drawn to it. I’m not exactly sure what it is, but looking at the bottle makes me want to pick it up. I also enjoy the notes of blueberry, cedarwood, and cashmere, which make it more appealing to me. I am located in the USA.

  • Wow. What an intricate description. Like an embodiment of Iceland in a fragrance. Dark, crisp, and naturalistic with a almost intoxicating subtle sweetness that melds the soul of the fragrance together. Andrea Maack Flux would be a great addition. Live in USA.

    Good luck all

Lovely composition. Berries paired with Menthol? I have yet to dive into the deep end of niche perfumery and to hear of such notes is so intriguing, it almost makes me excited. What surprises me most is when a natural atmosphere is created and actually realistic. From PA,USA

  • This is so crazy, Olya! I was just asking Michelyn about this perfume house!!! I’m going to Iceland this week for 6 days and googled to see if there were any perfume houses from Iceland and found Andrea Maack (along with Fischersund). Flux sounds so interesting with that added blueberry note. I’m having a hard time imagining what it smells like since there are mostly notes of fir and cedarwood, and menthol and eucalyptus. Your review was beautiful! I can’t wait to smell them all (I hope) should I find a shop that carries all the scents.

    I live in the US.

  • This is a powerful review for piquing the interest in Flux. I was first taken by the distinction between types of berry notes – I am not typically interested in fruity or berry fragrances – ie, that the scent of a berry can be dark, intoxicating, mysterious, and decadent, as opposed to the typical childhood fruit flavors.

Then came the description of the different fragrances that might emerge from a bewitched forest rite that merges passion and sacrifice – soil and stone and moss and smoke.

After reading this article I feel that I must try this fragrance! I am in MA.

  • Angelika1 says:

Iceland is one of my favorite places in the world. I didn’t know that this was Andrea inspiration. When I start reading the review I was just transported to Iceland and to the breathtaking views and people. I am very intrigued about this combination of Blueberries, Eucalyptus and Cypress. I can imagine this smell kind of fruity but earthy at the same time. Amazing! PR, USA

  • absurdnose says:

Wonderful article! I love the detailed descriptions of where this scent takes you. Cold air, ancient trees, forest floors- a beautiful combination. I live in the Pacific Northwest and when I smell the new growth on our coniferous trees, I do find them to be fruity and jammy. Since discovering this in the wild I love the combination of tree scents and fruits. They are surprisingly in tune! I love Andrea Maack perfumes so much. I find that no matter how daring the note list might be – they are incredibly wearable and always interesting. Thanks for the draw. I am in the USA

  • There’s something romantic on an Iceland perfume when the country itself has a population of 500,000.

    I’m in the US.

  • I love the mysterious and magical imagery put forth by the review. I’ve been borderline obsessed with Iceland and Icelandic culture for many years. I am not entirely sure why but I’ve always felt like I would be happy there. A dark and smoky forest fragrance sounds incredible and I feel like it would go together quite nicely with wearing my Iceland national team soccer kit. I’m in the USA

  • I have recently been to Iceland and it is truly a unique place. I can see the flux suggested here. The country seems like dichotomy as the perfume suggests. In maryland.

  • Beautifully written and so descriptive of the fragrance notes. I can imagine being in the forset smelling the combination of notes. Usa

  • sillage4ever says:

Fruit is my favorite food and berries my favorite fruit. I’ve been aching for an explosion of blueberry interpretations in perfume and hoping this one leads the charge on that fashion.

I’m in the USA waiting for the blueberries in my garden to ripen, thanks for the drawing.

  • I like to keep a cooling fragrance in rotation for summer wear. Along with the beachy coconut, fruit and aquatic perfumes, it’s nice to reach for a scent that is forest centric. I completely understand Olya’s reference to Big Sur with the woods focus, the pop of bright blueberries and the minty eucalyptus and menthol notes. Sounds like a lovely inspiration. MD, USA

  • Eris.can.swatch.kaos says:

Blueberry, eucalyptus, cypress, fir… this one is calling to meet me at the edge of the woods for a picnic or a hike, or both. I’m a big fan of Andrea Maack’s creations, and I’m positive that I’ll like this one as well. Dual and Soft Tension are two of hers that bring me joy, I’m more than happy to add this one to my little collection. I really love the imagery in this review, it brings me right to the kitchen table of a mysterious and mystical being. I live in Oregon.

  • Everything about this review strikes me- it’s so cinematic. If this scent can evoke half the images contained, it would be amazing. But really, I love the sound of a icy forest berry scent- both ancient and new. Andreea Maack is so creative.

  • DAISY PEREZ says:

Blueberry note!! I would love to try this. Iceland is one the places i would love to visit one day.

  • Regis Monkton says:

I would really like to try Andrea Maack Flux. I think its concept is intriguing because it seems like it would be a pure woodsy fragrance, but it has the contrast with the berries. It’s definitely on my list to sample if I don’t win it. I live in the USA.

  • goknitintheocean says:

    Hi there,

Long ago I bought a bottle of Andrea Maack’s SHARP, and long ago I used it up, and it will be for the rest of my life that I wish she’d bring back this marvel of sweetness! Anywho, thanks for featuring her new scent; I am taken with images of berries, menthol, forest(even though there really aren’t forests in Iceland), stone, frost, and moss. I will once again soon find another one of Andrea Maack’s that resonates with me. It might even be FLUX!!! I am in NYC/USA. Thank you.

    Deborah

  • Thanks, Olya, for this nice review… I liked this stunning composition! The idea of pairing juicy berries with crisp, cooling menthol is so unexpected yet utterly captivating, it’s moments like these that remind me how much depth and creativity niche perfumery holds. As someone still exploring the vast world of artisanal fragrances, discovering unconventional note combinations like this is thrilling. There’s something truly magical when a scent doesn’t just smell good but transports you, crafting a hyper realistic natural atmosphere that feels alive. The artistry behind such realism never fails to amaze me. NY

  • wallygator88 says:

    Thanks for the great writeup!
This fragrance has all the elements of a geographical experience captured olfatively – cardamom, menthol coldness, green firs and cypress, woody cedarwood and sequoia and the interesting use of blueberries.

    Would love to try this.

    Cheers from WI, USA

  • I love the way Andrea Maack Flux uses eucalyptus and menthol, capturing the fresh air of a winter forest without smelling overly medicinal. The tart, mildly sweet blueberry is a more surprising twist for the grey-green tonality of this fragrance, an assertive focal point, but also an unexpected combination with evergreen and icy turf. I’d love to try it.

    I’m in the USA.

  • I have only tried one fragrance from this house and that is criminal! I am always down for cardamon and eucalyptus but I can’t think of another fragrance with those together? This blend sounds fascinating and otherworldly, thank you for the generous giveaway. I am located in the U.S.

  • I love scents that really smell like the forest. Olya’s review makes it sound like Flux hits the mark. That it also has sweet berry notes makes it even more intriguing. I’m in Oklahoma, USA,

  • carrie_earle says:

Very interested in Flux because of Olya’s review. Crisp, icy air, blueberry, and an earthy woodiness have me curious about what the execution smells like. Would love to try this. From the US.

  • redwheelbarrow says:

This one sounds so interesting. I love this review and feel like I was taken on a little trip to a mythical realm in Iceland. I would love to experience the combo of the blueberries, woods, and cardamom. From the US.

  • goldenswan says:

The play between sweet and woody notes sounds intriguing, but it’s the addition of menthol and eucalyptus that could really transport this into that otherworldly space the article describes. USA.
