Amouage Reflection 45 Man Review (Lucas Sieuzac) 2021 +An Exceptional Extrait Draw

Among the Amouage catalogue, certain fragrances are classics and have been reinvented in 2021, as “Exceptional Extraits.” They include Epic 56 Woman, Interlude 53 Man (the first exceptional extrait), Honour 43 Woman and the second extrait for men, Amouage Reflection 45 Man. All four of the Amouage Exceptional Extraits live up to their name; their depth and richness are outstanding. The number following each represents the perfume concentration, and with Amouage 45 that means 45 percent is pure perfume and this fragrance been macerated for nearly four months. Increasing concentration takes skill or the DNA and harmony of the perfume can be lost. Creative Director Renaud Salmon has returned each time to the perfumer(s) who composed its predecessor. Amouage Reflection Man, composed in 2007 by Lucas Sieuzac and is a great introduction for men who are wary of florals, thinking they are too feminine. There is lavender in the opening, but the heart of Amouage Reflection 45 Man has Neroli, Jasmine and a powdery note (orris) that for me is reminiscent of Dior Homme with an incense laced sandalwood drydown. The signature Amouage contrast of light and dark is present in the base, but even more so. Amouage Reflection 45 Man which seems richer and more ambery, muskier and of course the longevity is outstanding. It is a very elegant perfume and I don’t find it overly masculine nor will many women be watching this video (our Sr Contributor Rachel Watson adores Amouage Reflection 45 Man).-Michelyn Camen, Editor-in-Chief

  • I lo e Steven’s channel because of the fact that he is one of my main YouTube channel as it pertains to fragrance. He is an upstanding man with all of his reviews and I personally take his reviews about this fragrance sincerely.

  • Mohammed Baghashwa says:

The first and only reason who makes me start discovering the Niche perfumes world is amouage it was the first niche I tried. I really liked reflection man from amouage and I buy it 3 times once I first time try it . Thank you amouage.

  • MarkMarkMark678 says:

I am familiar with the Original Reflection man and feel it’s a true classic, able to be enjoyed by just about anyone with a nose and a sense of smell.

I love the house of Amouage in general as they produce unique, interesting and downright beautiful fragrances.

I mine of the things that got me excited about Stevens review is he mentioned an ambery accord which was in contrast to a bright, aromatic lavender and citrus.
I liked that he mentioned the non linearity of the fragrance and that it was actually more complex than the original.

Dior Homme is one of my all time favorites, and Michelyn had mentioned that this was reminiscent of Homme laced with incense and sandlewood which sounds gorgeous.

  • I liked how Steven mentioned the comparisons to the original Reflection Man. I also liked how Michelyn’s introduction discussed how the fragrance has been macerating for 4 months to increase the richness. I love the original Reflection Man and I am excited to try this new extrait version.

  • Kevin Farnan says:

I love stevens presentation and his ability to describe fragrance notes in an such an engaging way I feel as if I could sample the scent through the video. Amouage is one of my favorite brands and I cannot wait to get my nose on a sample of this stuff

  • I have tried one, only one sample from the house of Amouage I purchased it blindly and it is certainly very strong, interesting and known as a summer fragrance. We are at the moment in the winter and this summer fragrance is strong but maybe something in that strength will awaken in the warmer months – only time will tell but I trust the perfumer and their artistry so am confident something magical will occur…

This review of 45 reflection was well done and has me very much interested perhaps I shall be the lucky winner and can again embark of both my second sample and first bottle from this very luxurious house

  • Thomas Fahey says:

I really love the scent profile of Reflection. The brightness and depth of it is something I have never experienced in a fragrance before. When I heard that there was an extrait being developed I waited with bated breath for it to drop and hear reviews on it. I really look forward to when I can get my nose on it.

  • Harith Quaye says:

I own Amouage Jubilation 25 and Epic Man. My next move is to get Reflection Man which I smelled at Bloomingdale’s and it was fantastic. I trust Stevens judgement when it comes to fragrances and I would love the opportunity to have Reflection 45 in my collection.

I love the original reflection man. Ultra classy, bright, uplifting and smells like spring. I’m very curious what the higher perfume oil levels do to the composition. Thanks for the vid Steven.

  • Steven from Redolessence brought me here. Tempted to dip my toes into niche fragrances but the prices always putting me off. Always grateful for that man to be pumping out quality contents that are not repetitive, unlike some Frag channels.

  • Garth G Wright says:

I am just hoping that this version smells close to the original with the added longevity

  • scentastic27 says:

Very descriptive introduction from michelyn, an as always steven dissect the review of Amouage Reflection 45 with master knowledge and professionalism, its always great to see his reviews

  • I enjoyed Mychelyn’s introduction because I didn’t know that the numbers meant the level of concentration in the perfume. Of course Steven review was on point. He really know how to describe perfumes on perfection and I agree with him saying that this perfume is a masterpiece. I have tried both, the Edp and this Extrait de Parfum and I have to say that the last one last so much more on my skin and even more on clothes. It is the perfect twist this fragrance needed. I would love to win this travel spray because I have just tried this fragrance 3 times and felt in love with it.
    I live in the U.S.

  • Loved Stevens’s review as always. He described things so well and has me curious on the “vibrant/energetic” notes of this fragrance as i haven’t smelled this or the original. Michelyn’s introduction has me curious of the powdery notes described and the comparison to Dior Homme.

    Thanks!

  • Love your channel and very information
Never had a niche fragrance would love to be entered in the amouage giveaway

  • Victor Rivas says:

This sounds like such an amazing new release. The original scent performs really well, the opening is bright and long lasting. I only have a sample of the original, and hoping to get a bottle. Great article, and informative review, thanks!

  • Steven’s passion for fragrances, the Amouage brand, and this exceptional extrait version of a classic are so exciting. He really makes you want to try this version and experience what a quality fragrance could be. Michelyn’s description of the flower notes are intriguing, especially considering the concentration of this version. This is fragrance that needs to be experienced.

  • bennybennyta says:

I would like to enter the giveaway, I am from the US. I have tried the original one but I was not impressed because of how close it smells to Le Male. Hopefully, this one would change my mind.

  • Sounds fantastic. Would love to add this to my niche collection. I follow several fragrance-related channels and Steven is by far the most in depth and astute fragrance reviewer on YouTube. Keep creating awesome content, Steven!

  • I love Steven (redolessense). He’s the blame for a couple of my latest purchases due to his knowledgeable reviews and recommendations. I would love a chance to win a travel size of reflection 45. I’m interested in how strong this fragrance really is for fragrances don’t last on my sponge like skin . Michelyn’s Introduction is also informative and the fact that is reminiscent of Dior homme I really have to try this one.

  • Brendan Perry Canales says:

I’ve been fortunate enough to sample several Amouage fragrances. I hope to be as fortunate now than I was then. Good luck everyone!

  • I enjoyed the original release can’t wait to get this one eventually. Steve always gives great reviews and this one is no exception just made me want to get it every more

  • Marc Guimarães says:

I have a strong admiration for the house of Amouage. I am very sorry that the Prince and creator of the house has passed on. I hope the Royal family will keep his tradition and that the Perfumes will drive as ambassadors to the Country.
It will be an honor to win such a prize.

  • Braeden Gann says:

Steven has done a great review as always and i am happy to know that there are other more concentrated offerings outside of this and Interlude. I did not know they have an Epic 56 for women. It sounds dangerous. Anyways thank you Steven and Michelyn for your knowledge and generosity for this community. I love Amouage fragrances and the brands artistic portrayals. Reflection is a classic offering and something I would consider one of their safer fragrances. I would love to see how much this compares to the original. To me the original smells like a more bright and fresh relative of Ted Lapidus Altamir with much quality better juice of course.

  • I always love Steven’s reviews for their specificity and enthusiasm. I’ve never smelled the original Reflection Man, but Steven’s description of its journey of lavender opening, to neroli heart, to incensey base sounded terrific. Michelyn’s intro also makes it sound wonderful (I’m also an orris fan, as aspect of the fragrance she emphasizes). I’d love to win a travel spray of this. I’m in Oklahoma, USA. Thanks, as always, for your generous draws!

  • It is nice to read about how all of these fragrances are made who made them. Plus the description is outstanding talking about the new offering. I have tried one fragrance from this house in the past. Would love to try this one out.

  • I can only afford to get samples of Amouage at certain places but never really had the chance to try this one yet. I would love to get my hands in a sample ASAP!

  • Hendrix Wilson says:

Steven knocks out of the park, again. Great review. Steven always gives his subscribers great insight into the process of perfumery. I have watched at least 500 of Steven’s and he rarely uses the word “Masterpiece” when describing a fragrance. I read the article twice, because it seemed like the Cliff notes for the video. The article gave me the impression that if you like Dior Homme, you are going to love this. Richer and more ambery…….

  • Andrew DiPaola says:

Would love this to be my first bottle of Amouage! I’ve sampled Interlude Black Iris and really enjoyed it.

  • Hampus Larsson says:

I love the original Reflection Man, as that was the first niche fragrance I ever put my nose on. And now years later my preferences have gone more to the amber-y, smokey direction so I feel like the Reflection 45 would be perfect for me.

  • Reflection 45 has my interest. I like how it’s reminiscent to Dior Homme. Nice looking botttle too. Down to try this out. Thanks

  • I enjoyed Steven’s review and Michelyn’s introduction of this new Amouage Reflection 45. The description of the notes and interplay of warmth , fresh, spicy nuances of the fragrance makes it sound sophisticated and refined. As Steven put it, a non-linear (complex) masterpiece.
I have sampled reflection man a few years ago.
    Greetings from Maryland, US.

  • Bryant Worley says:

I love Steven’s presentation and his ability to describe fragrance notes in such an engaging and passionate way. He makes you want to run out and get it. Michelyn always gives a thorough background of the fragrance, the perfumer, and/or the house, which is why it’s always nice to read her.

I currently have a travel atomizer of Reflection Man 2007.

I live in Waldorf, Maryland, USA.

  • Courtney Palmer says:

Great review. I own the original and I absolutely love the scent but get poor performance. So now Steven has me really interested in this 45. A huge fan of iris and from what it sounds like it may be more prominent! Really want to get my nose on this one

  • The original Reflection Man is one of my most sentimental fragrances. I got it at an Amouage boutique years ago on a trip I took to Rome with my mom. Always reminds me of her. Long time watcher of redolessence first time reader, very interesting article! I never knew fragrances were macerated! I’m not very knowledgeable about the fragrance world and it’s always nice to learn something new about it.

  • Frank Casimiro says:

As a long time subscriber to Steven’s Redolessence YouTube channel, I always find him very thorough and informative in his fragrance reviews. His review of Amouage Reflection 45 is an excellent example of his skills as a fragrance reviewer. His to-the-point style of reviewing and longtime knowledge of fragrance is an asset to the fragrance community – a “must subscribe” for any fraghead.

As for Amouage Reflection Man (2017), I own a bottle and wear it often when I want a smooth, personal, comforting scent. It’s excellent for a relaxing night out. I would be very interested in trying the new Amouage Reflection 45 fragrance.

  • I feel no other house is taking or has taken the time to preserve the notes or exact composition in a higher concentrated perfumes. Most of the time I believe they just up the fixatives or use a stronger fixative to make it last longer mean while the perfume’s composition has been adulterated.

So this article has me so happy to see that Amouage has finally gotten some recognition for their hard work that they’ve put into these extrait releases. I’ve personally have only tried Honour 43 Woman and Interlude 53 Man, and I can say the juice is pristine, pure, and an authentic rendering of an extrait from a EDP without a doubt.

  • From the opening I learned of the maceration time and the meaning of the 45. From the vid enjoyed verbal description of the notes. I am familiar with Reflecton Man 2007. US

  • Hassan Sidani says:

It’s my favorite because it reminds me of my dubai summer vacation while i was wearing it.

  • brandonhilde1914@gmail.com says:

What I enjoyed and agreed with Steven the most is how he described Reflection man as having a “non-linearity”. That is the description I need to use when telling people about it! I agree with his breakdown 100% Just a masculine but delicate fragrance. I love it.

  • Steven always give thorough and insightful review on fragrances and this one is no different!!! Michael do so as well!!! I’m huge fan of the OG Reflection Man so I would definitely love to get my nose on this one!!!

  • Loved this review, and I very much agree with the assessment of the contrast of the light/aromatic opening with the expansive warmth and depth of the resinous drydown. The non-linearity is quite exciting to me- it feels like a journey to wear this fragrance from start to finish. I have not smelled the original Reflection Man. I am also a subscriber to Redolessence on Youtube.

  • From both Michelyn’s introduction and Steven’s video review, I learned about the numbers at the end of these perfumes. 43 or 53 % concentration is indeed a very high percentage. I haven’t tried either the original or the new Amouage Reflection 45 Man. Thankfully I don’t like tonka bean/bubble gummy scents (from Steven’s comment on Amouage Reflection 45 Man appealing to more sophisticated, mature personalities 🙂 ) and I like incense, amber, deep perfumes, so I am sure I will love Amouage Reflection 45 Man. I am a Redolessence subscriber and live in the USA.

  • Alex Hernandez says:

I love Stevens reviews his channel is the best awesome always makes me wanna try all the fragrance he reviews And on Michelyn Camen Introduction not a fan of a lot of floral sense but with her description I feel like should try it And maybe fall in love with the scent here hoping

  • Ashkan Azra says:

I have never owned an Amouage scent but I’ve always appreciated the complexity and evolution of dry-downs that I’ve experienced with other samples from the house. The combination of the elements that I’ve read online is nothing short of an artistic impression. Only if fragrances could be visualized! Thanks to Redolessence for the introduction to this amazing product.

  • Would love to try this. The review stating versatile / projection / longetivity. good for cold / warm weather. Sounds like something I would like to add to my collection.

  • I own the original, my opinion it is the best uplifting perfume on the market with a touch of class. To me it just smell of money and now with the sweetness and more complex composition mentioned by Redolessense I’m am extremely excited to try this. Again Many Thanks Amouage.

  • I’ve never tried “Reflection Man”, but I’ve heard that it’s similar to “J.P.G. Le Male” which I am fond of. From Amouage, I’ve only tried “Jubilation XXV Man”, “Interlude Man”, and “Epic Man”- I own and enjoy all three of them. I think that it’s interesting that Michelyn said “Reflection Man 45” is reminiscent to “Dior Homme”. Steven’s review helped me to have an understanding of this fragrance. I live in the U.S.A. I’m a subscriber to Steven’s channel. Thanks for the giveaway opportunity.

  • Dubaiscents says:

Excellent review Steven! And thanks Michelyn, I do really love this version despite it being a part of the “men’s” line. It’s certainly one that could easily be worn by women or men alike.

  • The OG Reflection Man is uplifting and complex. The florals work very well with the incensey sandalwood and the overall effect is uplifting. I’ve not tried the exceptional extrait yet but an increase in the ambery musk sounds good. Nice review Steve and Michelyn! I’m in MD, USA.

  • Greg Graham Sr says:

Hello Steven, and Cafleurebon, how are you guys? Great job on the video and review. Amouage 45 sounds awesome and amazing. I don’t have any Amouage Fragrances. I would love to have this one. Thank you Michelyn and Cafleurebon.. stay safe and God bless.

  • I can always learn something new watching Steven’s reviews. He takes time to describe the fragrance in detail without rushing through. Not using the same old verbiage to depict what he smells can not be easy, and shows that he truly cares about the content he puts out. I am familiar with Reflection man though only have had samples. I’m most intrigued by the 45 percent perfume oil used in this new release! I can’t wait to try this! Michelyn had me at muskier and ambery!

  • This fragrance sounds lovely. I haven’t gotten my nose on anything from the house but Michelyn said it’s reminiscent of Dior Homme has me curious to give this a try. Steven says it’s a spicy and fresh fougere that’s complex in how it starts and drys down, which sounds great.

  • Steven has always been my favorite for the additional depth and originality he brings in his reviews.
Loved Michelyn’s introduction and yes i am familiar with Amouage Reflection Man, one of my fav classy luxurious fragrance out there.

  • Bennie Johnson says:

The original reflection man is a masterpiece! Would love to try this version as it has more amber and is a stronger concentration. Great review Steven, your a gem to the fragrance community. And Michelyn’s provided great background and context. I’m in Maryland, US by the way.

  • I like the fact that Steven concentrates on telling about the fragrance, without using clickbait phrases, like “see my latest haul”, ugh! He is very polished and well spoken! This sounds like such a rich an complex fragrance, and I always love lavender. I was also interested to learn that the number represents the strength of the extrait.

  • I enjoyed Michelyn’s introductory history and summary of the Amouage “Exceptional Extraits” as well as Steven’s description of the non-linear development of Reflection 45 Man which is an updated more nuanced take on the excellent original Reflection Man. It is not really a blind buy because of its complexity, but I really love it on my husband. (Now I need to try it myself!) Thanks for the review and draw.

  • wallygator88 says:

Thanks for the great review Steven. It was great to hear you talk about the evolution of the scent. It’s interesting to see that there’s both sweet myrrh and frankinsence in this. Also these travel bottles are so beautiful

I liked Michelyn’s intro because I learnt about how the extrait is named and that it macerated for a longer period. It was also good to learn that it leans unisex.

I’ve had a chance to smell Reflection Man!

    Cheers from WI, USA

  • Michael Prince says:

What I enjoyed about Steven’s review is how much love and passion he puts into everything he reviews. I love how well spoken he is and how detailed he reviews all these amazing fragrances. The original Reflection Man is a Modern Classic a fresh, floral, and versatile fragrance that I love so I am very interested to try Amouage Reflection 45 Man. I am from the USA.

  • Michael Butler says:

Steven’s channel has taught me a lot about the fragrance world. I have learned the difference between niche and designer perfumes. I have also learned to choose the right scent for the appropriate season. My favorite Amouage fragrance is Lyric man. Thank you Steven, and keep up the great work.

  • Amouage Extraits are new to me, but I have no doubts Reflection 45 is a shapeshifting fragrance , all Amouage fragrances are.
Floral , woody, musky , with iris and rose , 45 is a elegant , formal occasions fragrance I’ll be happy to wear in the rare occasion, when I have to wear a suit.
Jubilation XXV is a staple in my collection . Smells a bit like a mix between BlackBerry crumble traybake and BlackBerry Swirl Muffins with honey butter both with cinnamon. Can’t help it- Pastry Chef in me goes forward ‍each and every time. My favorite Amouage, and the fragrance I’m wearing right now.
Reflection Man I’ve smelled a few times, the scent is good, but it was too weak for me, Reflection 45 is something else.
Appreciate the review , and the giveaway campaign.
    USA

  • Reflection 45 sounds refined, and romantic. Inviting , first date fragrance. I do admit I’m interested.
Judging by Reflection 45 and Intelude 53 , I think the higher price tag for Amouage Extraits is justified, such fragrances you don’t smell , or wear every day , unless you’re part of the Upper Class.
Journey Man and Interlude Black Iris i own , I’ll try all extrait , Reflection Man i had long time ago
    Nice giveaway , USA
    Regards

  • As I have a bottle of Reflection and love it, I was eager to see what bringing it to the extrait level would mean so I acquired a small decant. I agree with Michelyn that it has more musk and with Steven that it’s spicier. I’m not sure I’d ever use an entire bottle but the notion of a 10 ml travel item would be the perfect size. Thanks much for the opportunity!

  • Amouage fragrances are different. In my opinion you should never blind buy , without sampling first. Some do smell so very different on different people, when sprayed on skin .
For example Sunshine Man is a gourmand on me , but on hubby is dry , herbal , almost sour. You can never we’re wearing the same fragrance ! Similar expectations I have for Reflection 45 , silky , well blended luxury floral scent for the day , I can almost experience its glamour .
By the way favorite Amouage is Sunshine Man , I do know Reflection Man
    Thanks for the draw

  • Redolessence is perfect for any fragrance head he explains perfectly everything that you need to know and has a very informative opinion on subject.

  • All Extraits are in my wish list, and I like the idea behind all . Keep the original DNA , and change the clothes, same body , different suits .
From Michelyn and Steven analysis, I know Reflection 45 is slightly modernized version, with additional iris , and incense, still keeping the refined elements from the standard Reflection Man.
Every time I’m thinking about Amouage, I’m thinking about Interlude Man . Stunning fragrance.Happy to own it , one of the best , if not the best ever created in the incense category. I’m on my 4th bottle , and already made a dent on it .
Reflection Man i think, is second best Amouage.
Thank you Steven, Michelyn and Amouage

  • I really enjoyed reading Michelyn’s introduction explaining the concentration and that the house went back to the original perfumers for these extraits instead of trusting the project to someone different. The video review made it very clear that he enjoyed this fragrance, so much so that the travel set went on my wishlist. The degree of complexity he described and the journey from top notes to resinous base is very appealing. Thanks for the reviews and the draw! I’m in the US.

  • “Are you familiar with Amouage Reflection Man from 2007?”

Being a fragrance geek, and pretty punctual i have to say, it’s a hard question to answer. Yes I do , know them all. Original bottle, non-magnetic cap , magnetic cap … and so on , I know all.
One of the most prized possessions in my collection, is the very first, original Reflection Man presentation. Sapphire glass, kanja dagger kind of cap , almost impossible to find, true relic from the past . One of a kind gem I’d never wear, I just admire the scent once in a while .
I also have non-magnetic cap version of Reflection Man, and just recently , finally received all Extrait samples.
I’m on the same page with Michelyn, Reflection 45 is not just more opulent version , the iris is present, it’s resinous and sweeter compared to its predecessor. The two are similar, no doubt about it, but to me they are not twins, or even brothers, but more like cousins.
45 is fuller, but not as powerful as my Sapphire glass, kanja dagger kind of cap , it’s almost unreal how strong the vintage is . It’s even stronger than Interlude 53 !
    All profiles I already follow
    Thanks a lot

Lovely intro and review! What I enjoyed about Michelyn’s introduction is learning that Reflection 34 has that signature Amouage contrast of light and dark, which is one of my favorite things about the Amouage fragrances I know and love.

What I enjoyed about Steven’s YouTube review is learning that the fragrance has a 4 month maceration time, giving it an even more intense and rounded aged quality, particularly with the ambery incense resinous accords in the base balancing the citrus and the florals. I am familiar with Amouage Reflection Man and I enjoy it, but I think that I will enjoy this extrait even more. I live in the US.

  • It’s been a long-long time, since I started wearing Amouage perfumes , and I believe Reflection Man is the most versatile, and easy to wear fragrances in the whole Amouage catalog.
It’s not a screamer, but state of art inviting .
What i like in the new Reflection 45 , is the better performance, whiteout sacrificing the quality.
Jubilation XXV ,Journey Woman , and Lilac Love are in my possession
    Thank you for the opportunity
