Amouage Love Delight Review (Pascal Gaurin) 2024  “Secret Garden”

Love Delight from Amouage Secret Garden collection

“In the case of Love Delight, I absolutely knew I wanted to stay faithful to the idea at the core of all the Secret Garden perfumes,” explains Chief Creative Officer, Renaud Salmon, “but I wanted to push the olfactory vocabulary into areas we had not really explored before, to look for different sources of inspiration.”

In the lush, imaginative terrain of Amouage’s The Secret Garden Collection, a new chapter unfurls with panache under the creative helm of Renaud Salmon. Amouage Love Delight, created by Pascal Gaurin joins its enchanting predecessors—Love Blossom, Love Lilac, Love Tuberose, and Love Mimosa—in this reinvigorated lineup, where the essence remains untouched but the aesthetics evolve into sleek, matte bottles dressed in refined, subdued hues.

With Love Delight, Amouage invites us to a playful dance of delicate florals and delectable treats, a blend that radiates insouciance and irresistible allure. For me, this fragrance captures the essence of one of the Middle East’s most iconic desserts, the Turkish Delight, reimagined through a contemporary lens. Here, the traditional rose water and vanilla are intertwined with a powdery sugar veil of heliotrope and cocoa, enriched by a savory boozy rum filling that echoes the complexity of modern femininity.

From the first spritz, Amouage Love Delight captivates with a vibrant burst of aromatic ginger and bright, luminous mandarin. These lively top notes gracefully recede to reveal a heart where rose water’s softness meets the spicy kick of cinnamon and the cozy fluffiness of heliotrope, adding a whisper of powdery finesse. At its core, soft rose petals and a tea-like jasmine temper the sweetness, crafting a balanced floral bouquet that is both subtle and commanding. As the narrative deepens, the base notes of lightly toasted vanilla infused cake crumb soaked in rum lay a foundation that supports without overwhelming, allowing the perfume to hover ethereally between sweet indulgence and floral sophistication.

  • oh, yes, I’ll be sampling this one! Toasted vanilla cake and rum under jasmine and citruses sounds wonderful!

I’ve heard such mixed reviews for this one. Olya does make this sound good, especially the powdery finesse. A vanilla cake crumb with rum makes me wonder why anyone wouldn’t review this well. Now I am more curious!!

  • The first time I had Lokum (Turkish Delight) wasn’t long after I’d tried Naan Nokhodchi (Persian Chickpea Cookies) which wasn’t the best experience. I’d held it in my cheek like a hamster while fake grinning at my grandmother-in-law who made them before scurrying off to the restroom to let the crumbs fall out of my mouth.

I detest both but what got me to keep trying these snacks was the smell of them.

I eventually scored with Sholezard (Persian Rice Pudding) and it’s been my go-to comfort food for about 25 years now. Every now and then I’d check to see if anyone decided to make it into a fragrance and eventually scored, although it ended up being a skin scent that lasts about an hour on a good day.

After being dropped headfirst into the middle of an Iranian and Turkish family; I’ve found myself putting things uncommon for Americans into my desserts; cardamom, rose water and pistachios go in everything now!

I’m definitely eager to get my nose on this and will also hold onto hope that Amouage will release a Love Sholezard one day.

PS: These particular snacks aren’t bad, it’s pretty much just sugar and starch; with a heavy heaping on the sugar side of things. They’re likely more effective than glucose tablets and paste combined. Haha. (Don’t do that, it’s a joke)

Lovely review. I sampled this one recently and fell in love. This is definitely on my list of bottles to buy.

  • I have truly come to admire Amouage and their thoughtful work in the “Love” line especially. Love Tuberose was beautiful, and I absolutely fell in love with Love Mimosa. Such a different interpretation of the main notes than I had experiences before! Love Delight would be a new try for me, and this review gives me confidence that it may be yet another “reimagined” presentation of notes that tickles my fancy! Thank you for this generous draw. I live in NH, USA.

  • My husband is a big amouage fan, and he bought me a Motherks Day gift, which included a small sample of Love Delight. Can’t wait to try it out. In maryland.
