Agarthi Burning Core Review (Mathieu Nardin) 2023 + Endless Light Giveaway

Agarthi Burning Core

Agarthi’ Burning Core was one of those perfumes that took me by surprise. After reading Nicoleta’s wonderful introduction to Agarthi’s four perfumes and creative history, I’m in full agreement with her that their clever combination of concept and the stunning way its been translated into the aesthetics of the house. All has been woven into the perfumes by owner, manufacturer, founder and distributor of Agarthi Scent Core Barbara Loddo and a diverse group of creatives including editor Ermano Picco, that have been collaborating in the areas of marketing, design, and artistic perfumery for many years, with each member contributing their unique style and expertise to the project. Agarthi means “inaccessible”, but I’m wondering if this is a rather clever play on words at describing a new kind of luxury with their logo pulling us into the core and more literally in Burning Core.

Agarthi Burning Core stole my heart from the first sniff. I’m very picky when it comes to gourmand perfumes. Perfumer Mathieu Nardin must have sprinkled some stardust on this, as a rich darkness beams with starlight from a delicious smoky vanilla adorned with a dash of aromatics.

Burning Core blooms from its elegant mystical Alien-esque bottle into a soft milky light, buzzing with a spiced ginger haze as a smooth smokiness from cade turns the milk into this luxurious creamy cloud feeling silky and velvety. Ginger’s spice makes it radiate warmth, like the feel of sunlight in your skin on a cold dark day. You can feel this warmth expand and thickened up as soft cosy resins making Burning Core drip with delicious aromas. Ginger’s warm spice gives a whisper of darkness, giving Burning Core a char, letting some subtle green aromatic tease out more edges of this perfumed space while making the sweeter elements shine like a star.

Burning Core by Agarthi

There’s a rather beautiful feel of darkness and light in the perfume, like the light is pulling in the darkness towards its core, stretching the edges into the smooth tunnel of light kind of like a black hole where time, space and light stretch into infinity or to whatever is on the other side of the black hole, things we can only dream of. Where density and gravity become infinite and space-time curves infinitely, and the laws of physics as we know them cease to operate. Burning Core feels like a loop of delicious darkness cycling back on itself drawing those near into its darkly sweet core, as its beams of mouth watering light radiate a dark vanilla creamy milky musk that’s impossible to resist.

A moderately realistic, gravitationally lensed accretion disc around a black hole, created by Double Negative artists. (Courtesy: Classical and Quantum Gravity)

Agarthi Burning Core interweaves the flow of dark and light materials takes me to Christopher Nolan’s film, Interstellar, from 2014, especially (Spoiler Alert) the part where Cooper, Matthew McConaughey, enters the “tesseract” after having travelled into the black hole. In there he’s able to manipulate the strings of time communicate with Murphy Cooper, Jessica Chastain, in various time periods, presenting time itself as a physical dimension rather than linear. Cooper realizes that he was in fact Murph’s “ghost” all along, and that while the bulk beings can perceive five dimensions, they cannot locate a point of reference in time; however, he can due to his connection and love for his daughter, drawing him to her much like gravity draws things to itself give her the information she needs to solve the equation to save humanity.

Burning Core’s combination of vanillas creates this heart with a loving cosy embrace rich creamy woody facets while abstract savoury notes haunt the middle, slowly drying out into a woody soft leather, enriched by the cade’s dark velvet smoke. These darker richer aromas almost feel like the endlessness of space as the sweeter lights of stars shine forth. Rich dark leathers give Burning Core an elegance and class with the ginger making its purr in a sunned skin way. The ginger’s gentle char also cleverly conjures the rather realistic Crème Brûlée caramelised top as it cracks melting into creamy rich dessert warmth. This paired with the leather has a rather beautiful feeling of silk moving over a rich buttery suede, while keeping the sweetness balanced beautifully, radiating its amazing energy. Agarthi Burning Core is delicious to smell and wear with some rather unique materials used. Both the Ginger and Vanilla are a Pure Jungle Essence TM; materials that I’d love to smell in isolation as they really star here along with the smooth leather, making Burning Core a stunning and delicious wear. The way Burning Core’s creamy textures play off the rougher leather feels magic, a time loop of darkness and light flowing endlessly into the night, pulling us towards a new bright adventure.

Notes: Ginger Pure Jungle EssenceTM, Solar Note, Milky Accord, Benzoin, Vanilla Pure Jungle EssenceTM, Vanilla Absolute, Cade Essence, Leather, Savoury Notes, Crème Brûlée.

Disclosure: Burning Core was offered by Agarthi for review purposes. Opinions and nose are always my own.

  • The note of ginger combined with vanilla really sparked my interest. I live in Trzebnica, Poland, EU.

  • Lightbearer60 says:

J couldn’t have described this fragrance any better, I was already sold from reading the notes but his unique description of it, with the outer space connection is extremely fascinating and alluring. J’s comparisons between the light and dark notes to the movie interstellar is just super creative. J’s review of this fragrance is unorthodox and poetic. I thoroughly enjoyed it and know I would be obsessed with this fragrance if I get my nose on it. What an amazingly gorgeous review and fragrance. It would be such a great honor to win it. So thank you to J for the awesome review, thank you Agarthi for supplying this magnificent bottle of liquid gold for this giveaway, thank you Michelyn, Cafleurebon and everyone else involved in this giveaway. Greetings from Ohio, USA!

  • If Agarthi Burning Core stole J’s heart from the first sniff, it’s got my interest!
Dripping with delicious aromas and warm spices, feels like a loop of darkness cycling back on itself drawing those near into its darkly sweet core, as its beams of mouth watering light radiate a dark vanilla creamy milky musk that’s impossible to resist. Gorgeous!

  • J’s review of Agarthi Burning Core has truly captivated me!
The way they describe the rich, smoky notes combined with the subtle hints of spice undertones sounds absolutely enchanting. I’m particularly intrigued by the longevity and the unique blend that makes it stand out from other fragrances. Can’t wait to experience this scent for myself

This combination of vanilla and ginger along with resins and Crème Brûlée reminds me of a sunrise by the sea on a hot summer morning. I am from EU

  • SonneSweet says:

Based on J’s review, I’m particularly intrigued by the interplay between dark and light in Agarthi Burning Core. The concept of blending rich, smoky vanilla with spicy ginger and creamy leather sounds mesmerizing. I’m also fascinated by how the fragrance evokes a sense of infinity and time, reminiscent of the black hole in *Interstellar*. The description of vanilla’s creamy warmth paired with the charred caramelized notes of Crème Brûlée makes this scent sound both indulgent and sophisticated. I’m excited to experience how these elements create a loop of darkness and light, offering a truly unique olfactory adventure.

I read both J’s and Nicoleta’s reviews, this brand really intrigues me! As I’m pretty mixed on gourmand scents myself, I’m curious about this, J made it sound so tempting, especially as we’re neither that much into gourmands. The connection made to Interstellar it’s so sweet. Can’t wait to try this! Love from Romania!

I’ve never smelled anything similar: it’s meant to talk about the center of the Earth but it’s very luminous. A beautiful place to be, a gorgeous fragrance to wear.

Like fire on the skin Burning is released and gives my nose hot hints of vanilla and Crème Brulée.
Mr Nardin thanks for this parfum….is very HOT.

J’s review of Agarthi Burning Core beautifully captures the perfume’s intricate balance of darkness and light, making it a captivating scent that draws you in. I’m intrigued by the way the smoky vanilla and spiced ginger create a luxurious, warm aura that’s perfect for any season.

  • David Furman says:

This sounds like light in a bottle. A unique concept that illustrates the play between light & dark. The vanilla mid is perfect because it’s a safer medium whether the composition goes from dark to light. Also the use of high quality ingredients and the pure jungle accord make this something to be sought after. Ingredients seem simple but I’m sure it gets complex and the way they dance off each other. Would love to own this treasure, from Jacksonville, NC.

  • Shibuichi2000 says:

Ah, you got me at “picky when it comes to gourmand perfumes” – not being very drawn to gourmand scents, I am still looking for one or two in my wardrobe, it’s a box that needs to be checked :.
Burning Core seems to be a very interesting take on gourmand scents – a dark, smoky, creamy, leathery vanilla, and if J wouldn’t have mentioned ‘creme broulée’, my imagination was taking a different path alltogether.

Once again I was reeled in by a review only to find out it’s not even available in my country. Within minutes of getting to the end I had to hit up my connect to get the fragrance forwarder on the line. Thankfully my connect already has it and I have things she wants so we both win. Now I can sleep peacefully.

Spectacular review and good luck to the EU gang!

  • I love the bottle! Also the notes are quite intriguing- I am very curious about the milky accord together with the solar note

I’d like to share my favorite part of Nicoleta Tomsa thoughtful introduction of Agarthy, thank you J for the reference

“From the dawn of time, people have believed there was another world, just lurking underneath the Earth’s surface and each civilization has woven a rich tapestry of lore and beliefs around this idea. In the theories of the underworld, the theme of a hollow Earth recurs throughout different forms and has gradually fused with mythology, literature, and science, seeping into conspiracies, popular culture, movies, and science fiction novels”

Love, love and love again. It’s remarkable that Barbara Loddo found an unique way to start a brand related to different inner Earth mythologies .
Like everything in real life some components of Burning Core are gentle and warm like the ginger , some delicious like the creme brulee, others are dark like the leather and the smoke . The balanced between the sweetness and leather I’m looking for the most.
I’m not yet familiar with Agarthy , but I know fragrances Mathieu Nardin signed for Kilian
    From EU. Many thanks

  • I find impressive how Barbara Loddo with the help of talented and creative people were able to merge mysticism , her dreams , renowned perfumers such Mathieu Nardin in one artistic brand like Agarthy.
I can say I’m captivated by Burning Core and I’ll try to express my opinion on the topic.I can see why Barbara Loddo believes in the power of the inner world indirectly pointing out to her own character. J Wearescentient definitely likes noble fragrance, unique olfactory experiences and Burning Core surprised him in a good way.
The fragrance is like J Wearescentient said a loop of delicious darkness, dark vanilla, leather and possesses a sense of exclusivity.
Splendid experience , I like such inside information I can’t find anywhere else, thank you J Wearescentient, Nicoleta Tomsa and Michelyn Camen. Of course also thank you for the giveaway

  • Thanks to J Wearescentient and Nicoleta Tomsa reviews i started thinking about all kinds of warm , sweet and dark velvety moments I’d like to experience in the Fall. I never ever thought about it before but thanks to both i started thinking about exploring the ancient legends of hollow Earth.
Every fragrance should have a story to tell , good to know Barbara Loddo and Mathieu Nardin are exploring the innovative ways to integrate scent into visual and conceptual artistry and mythology making Burning Core story really unique.
I believe Mathieu Nardin has carefully chosen every single raw material , so the fragrance can fit the mythical legends of ancient times.
I’m now curious about the fragrance and the way it evolves. The contrast between the delicious Crème Brulee, ginger and leather , day and night, innocence and temptation is to die for.
    Thank you, and fingers crossed

    Hey there 🙂
There’s one great Mathieu Nardin fragrances I love – Smoking Hot Kilian . I was not aware of Agarthy fragrances and thanks to J Wearescentient, Nicoleta Tomsa and Michelyn Camen I’m intrigued.
Predicated on the fine tune reviews of the two Cafleurebon contributors i know Burning Core is spicy with caramelized with rich desert warmth, and the leather is giving the fragrance a bit darker characteristics . I’m expecting a scented pearl that came as a result of the Mathieu Nardin work
    Thanks

  • Through J Wearescentient and Nicoleta Tomsa work I was able to travel to the depths of the Earth. I’m new to Agarthy but the two convinced me that I need to explore all the brand offers.
Just when you think you know gourmand and leather fragrances then Mathieu Nardin comes along to show how wrong you are Wow. Burning Core is not just a high quality ingredients sweet leather fragrance in the vain of a fragrance that already exists, absolutely not! Mathieu Nardin have built unorthodox fragrance from ground zero , admirable approach. Even both contributors were caught off guard by the novelty smell.
The spicy darkness , gentle creme brulee gourmand appeal together with the green aromatic tease combination comes as a gentle reminder of how there are still brands like Agarthy, owners like Barbara Loddo and perfumers like Mathieu Nardin and creative individuals like Cafleurebon own Ermano Picco who still posses imagination, and are not afraid to be adventurous.

The right way to start is with Nicoleta Tomsa story , and then go to J Wearescentient review .
All 4 Agarthy fragrances sounds good, but honestly Burning Core is the most appealing one
Apparently Barbara Loddo was a bright mind at young age with interest in mythology , art and creativity , no wonder Nicoleta Tomsa compared Burning Core to a scene from JRR Tolkien universe and J Wearescentient with Interstellar, iconic movie in my opinion.
I’m new to Agarthy fragrances, with some help of J Wearescentient review, and Nicoleta Tomsa brand story i think Burning Core is elegant sweet leather fragrance , on the flip side because of the bolder leather also possesses some hidden bolder personality
    Million thanks EU

  • Love the idea of fragrances inspired by different mythologies of inner Earth and made by accomplished perfumers like Mathieu Nardin.
Burning Core is a fragrance based on collaboration between Barbara Loddo, Mathieu Nardin and other creative people including Ermano Picco
I can emphasize to J Wearescentient words , from Interstellar parallel, to the beautiful feel of darkness and light in the fragrance, to spicy ginger, delicious creme brulee and smooth leather. I guess all those creative people clicked so well on personal, professional and creative level, chich is rare, and i believe there’ll continue to work together in the future.
I’m so curious about the whole Burning Core experience…
Thank you Agarthy, J Wearescentient, Nicoleta Tomsa and also thank you for the generosity

I’m a fan of beautiful things, opulent aura, sophisticated gourmand and leather fragrances , creativity , and with the help of J Wearescentient I think I found an excellent new fragrance . I’ll be happy to win Burning Core plus I really wonder how Crème Brûlée and ginger on top of smooth leather fragrance smells.

J Wearescentient and Nicoleta Tomsa both grabbed me with Interstellar and Middle Earth analogies.
J actually made me think of watching the stars on the porch at midnight in October covered with a leather blanket, whereas some just taken out of oven cups of creme brulee are warming my belly
Moreover i like how Barbara Loddo involved not only Mathieu Nardin, but also other craftspeople and other creative individuals like Ermano Picco into her hollow Earth dream, so they can create together pieces of art.
Thank you for the draw EU

Burning Core feels more like a prequel to Christopher Nolan Interstellar ,to show where all begins. Good job Mathieu Nardin, together with different very talented personalities you engineered a magnificent fragrance with leather , ginger and delicious desert like characteristics.
The movie , the scent and J Wearescentient zealous examination altogether do stand as a reminder of how Burning Core not only represents Barbara Loddo social interactions, hospitality and communications , it also symbolizes the coming together of people to share different ideas, emotions and stories in a relaxed and friendly manner.

Even though I just recently started delving into niche perfumery, bo be fair mostly because of Redolessence invitation to join Cafleurebon , with just 14 bottles in my possession, i own one Mathieu Nardin fragrance by the name of Smoking Hot from the brand of Kilian.
There’s sweetness in both Smoking Hot and in Burning Core, but Agarthi fragrance has its own unique olfactory experience.
The aromatic and suede leather parts of Burning Core are easy to detect according to J Wearescentient , and I’m glad the leather i not overly aggressive but there’s a comfortable parity with the vanilla and the creme brulee
In my view Burning Core is a different but pleasing leather fragrance, still just a bit jammy sweet but no where near sugary, and with creamy woody facets. I’m so thrilled
    EU Thank you

  • Captivating introduction of Agarthy and enthusiastic review of Burning Core, i read both and i have to say job well done to Nicoleta Tomsa and J Wearescentient.
I find the fragrance delightful for the delicious smoky vanilla, dash of aromatics, dark sweet core on one part , and Mathieu Nardin and Ermano Picco involvement on the other.

  • Smoky vanilla is an attractive way of approaching a gourmand fragrance. And enhancing that concept with ginger is clever; Agarthi Burning Core brings complexity and a feeling of heat to the smoke, and a shimmer to the milky accord and vanilla. I enjoyed J’s take on the fragrance as a juxtaposition of light and dark. Agarthi Burning Core sounds wonderful.

    I’m in the USA.

  • Wow again, two different articles, one by Nicoleta Tomsa and one by J Wearescentient both vivid and full of positive energy.
I like how Barbara Loddo likes to surround herself with people who have similar interests and values like her, Ermano Picco for example.
I’m not familiar with Agarthy but I can say working with Mathieu Nardin is a statement on its own and shows Barbara Loddo determination to deliver to the buyers unique olfactory experiences.
In Burning Core u particularly like the bottle design, dark vanilla milkiness, abstract savory notes all drying out into soft woody leather, soulful fragrance I’m hooked

Can’t wait to see what the future holds for Barbara Loddo and Agarthy , J is quite demanding in terms of quality and artistry so i do believe if he’s impressed by Burning Core the future should be shining bright
Leather, smoky vanilla and creamy rich desserts are favorites of mine ,let alone how J spoke of a buttery suede and beautifully balanced sweetness , exquisite pleasure i can’t wait to try.

Since I enjoyed everything I read I’m not sure where should even start with. Should I start with Michelyn Camen calling Agarthy the best concept at Esxence, Nicoleta Tomsa speaking of ancient legends or J Wearescentient buttery suede with dark sweet core and milky musk that’s impossible to resist , all helped me evaluate Burning Core the best way possible. There’s nothing basic on Cafleurebon , both the the fragrances and the fragrance information here are multidimensional every single time. Thanks to Michelyn Camen, Editor-in-Chief and not one but two editors – J Wearescentient and Nicoleta Tomsa sharing their insights on Burning Core ,i have a feeling Mathieu Nardin and Agarthy set the bar high for a leather fragrance with gourmand elements.
I know niche fragrances and i need something to really grab my attention, and Burning Core high quality raw materials, center of the Earth connection, soft leather aroma melding with the woody spicy desert did the trick for me.
Through Burning Core I can book a mental trip to a secret place on Earth, you can’t beat that

  • What differentiates Cafleurebon contributors from a lot of other influencers is that all are focusing on the whole package, and not just on one or two aspects.
Just by reading J Wearescentient thoughts I visualized the exact same moment when he sprayed Agarthy Burning Core for the first time on skin , I can almost see the delightfulness in his eyes.
The whole package caught my eye immediately , almost started drooling because of J delicious caramel desert , with woods , loop of darkness and velvety smoke review. I also really like the look of the bottle and of course the emblematic Interstellar movie association
