Recipe for a Masterwork. You take one brilliant, fiercely independent perfumer that being  Pierre Guillaume of Parfumerie Générale and one novel of  brutality and eroticism  Querelle de Brest-Jean Genet (1947) adapted for the screen by Jean Fassbinder.  Add great raw materials possessing potent gender-bending sensuality and voila; have an often overlooked fragrance Querelle, from Pierre’s By Invitation Only Collection.

    What I have liked the most is the inspiration on the 70’s / 80’s fragrances somehow. Besides, the notes list is amazing.

    Been watching Sebastian’s reviews for more than a couple of years now. He never fails to throw interest on niche frag houses, and he does it with ease. The way he has described this fragrance as being reminiscent of old school frags with a modern twist has gotten my interest. Would love to win and get hold of a bottle of this beauty.

    I am always crazy in love with vetiver, and here in Brazil the earthy smell of that note remembers me of a clean ocean dive!

    I really loved how he mentioned that the fragrance is an inspiration of a generation of older times. Then also describing it as a gothic church vibe which is what I like in some fragrances. I’m in bean station,tn.

    Sebastian is a great reviewer with a good grasp on niche perfumery. This review was able to give an idea of what to expect if you know what 70s fragrances smelled like.
    My favourite Parfumerie Generale fragrance that I’ve tried was L’Oiseau de Nuit, which is you need in a fall fragrance. Definitely want to look more into this house though.

    I loved Sebastian’s review and I’ve actually just started reading the book Querelle, so I am very curious to try this fragrance. When he said in the review that it is a vetiver based fragrance I got even more interrested in it, since I am a vetiver addict!

    Sadly I don’t own any fragrances from Parfumerie Générale, but I have tried Felanilla at a friends house and I loved it!

    I live in Sweden and I would absolutely love to get to try this Querelle! So now I will start following your Facebook page so I don’t miss it when you announce the winner.

    I’ve been watching Sebastian’s reviews for a while. I always love the way he describes all of the scents. The thing that got me excited the most was when he described the gothic church type of vibe it had, as a I love things like that.
    Thank you so much for the giveaway, here in Mexico, fragrances that are considered cheap in other countries end up being very costly.

    Been watching Sebastian for some time now…as a lover of fragrances I’m trying to explore the niche perfumery more and Sebastian is one of my ‘go-to’ youtubers to watch.
    I’m not very familiar with the Parfumerie Générale but I have smelled L’Ombre Fauve and loved it so I’m definitely very excited to smell the others and specially Querelle.

    Sebastian’s Youtube page is one of the few who does quality reviews and does reviews on quality fragrances and some I’ve never heard off before just like Parfumerie Generale which is the first time I got a wind off through his review.     Sebastian’s descriptions are certainly evocative and what an accomplished presenter-It takes you into the heart of the ingredients in an easy way until suddenly you really want to try it, badly want to try it ! And Vetiver is one of my loved elements in Perfumery, often difficult but very true in spirit. Thank you, I’m in New Zealand and registered.

    Love vetiver, LOVE Sebastian and his review has me wanting this perfume! Retro but modern fragrance sounds so intriguing.

    What I liked about Sebastian’s review is that he said it’s a vetiver based fragrance and, like him, I love vetiver; so I am dying to try this one. I have never smelled anything from PG. I’m in the US.

    I really thought it was interesting that it is a modern take on a 70’s style, where when you wear it, it will take you back to when your father wore fragrances back in the day. I can see how he states it sounds gothic with the particular mix of fragrance.

    Sebastian makes it clear in the review that Querelle tries to find a delicate balance between a modern and classical perfumery. it has churchy vibe but it also feels modern. I think this is one of Pierre’s rare offerings that remind one so much of the perfumes of the yesteryears. My favorite PG creation is L’Ombre Fauve. thanks a lot for the generous draw. I am in the US

    I like the Review of Sebastioan, Although it is a modern perfume it reminds of the classic men perfumes decade’s ago, it is a clean and cosy scent. I live in the EU, Austria.

    Honestly I’ve never heard of fragrances by Parfumerie Générale. Here in Singapore, it’s hard to get your hand on a lot niche quality perfumes. From the way Sebastian talks about the fragrance, I can see myself walking along the spice markets of Morocco and walking pass all incense. Would really love to try this one out.

    I own a few PG and liked the intro to Pierre Guillaume before the video because I am a fan of Lombre Fauve and Bois Naufrage
    Indochine and musc Maori are also brilliant interesting fragrances
    Somehow I have never tried Querelle but after Sebastian’s video review I am really interested especially as it sounds very dark with vetiver and incense

    Sebastian reviews are always full of suggestions and tips. Querelle description is very accurate, and I’m curious about the reference to ’70s classical perfumery . Finally I’m a vetiver addict so this PG can not leave me unaffected.
    At the moment my favorite PG is n.20 l’Eau Guerriere, it’s fabulous in this season!

    It was good to know someone wearing it at the moment they were speaking said it reminded them of older fragrances he recalls his father wearing. L’Eau Guerriere is my favorite from the house. US

    Sebastian evoked a number of image/ideas; a dark forest, the 70’s, and “clean”. Interesting! I love vetiver, love Guillaume, and loved the book Querelle, so I’ve been ver intrigued by this frag. In the US.

    I’ve never tried any of the PG perfumes, but Sebastian’s review makes this one sound soooo tempting. I love the throwback to the 70s he describes; I know nothing about that era, since it was before my birth, and I would love to explore it. His description is just so evocative! I’m in the EU.     If Sebastian compares this scent with a forest and he says there is myrrh, incense, ambergris and oakmoss……I know I need to try it!
    I don’t know all the line just Cozé and Felanilla and I must say I liked both, specially Felanilla, a goog vanilla based perfume!

    I never saw the movie Querelle but remember seeing the box on the rental shelf. 🙂 The heart of myrrh and incense sounds like what I’d enjoy most. My favorite from the PG house is L’Eau Guerriere. 🙂 USA

    What I enjoyed about Sebastian’s you tube review is the way he described this as a 70’s 80’s fragrance. I have never tried a Parfumerie Générale fragrance. I live in America

    Sebastian is a great reviewer, to the point, articulate and passionate. Despite our differing tastes, I find his reviews spot on, often illuminating a hidden facet, with just a few words. I would love to win Querelle by Parfumerie Generale. I have yet to try a Guillaume creation. I live in the EU

    Sebastian has a knack of reviewing houses which fascinate me but seem not to get too much press. Was so glad to hear that Cozé 02 was his favourite too! Cannabis, Coffee, and Vanilla – three of my favourite notes to smell anywhere ever.
    If that fragrance is anything to go by, I’m sure this will be fantastic as well.

    Wow, this sounds amazing!! I’ll have to find that tiny shop next time I’m in Paris. I love, love, love incense perfumes and am happy to hear that it’s close to the skin. As much as I love the way the powerhouse perfumes smell, I do feel a bit self-conscious wearing them where I live because many people are antiperfume. It sounds just perfect!

    I loved Sebastian’s description of this fragrance. All the notes just sound perfect for my taste, something darker with a historic undertone but yet somehow very refined and modern. I would love to win this, because I love perfum, but I can’t justify gatting more than one or two niche perfumes on a university buget. I’m registerd and I live in Slovenia, EU.

    Good review. Easy to understand. PG is one of my fav houses, it’s a shame the only shop that had it in stock was closed here in Kazakhstan. Querelle seems to be a winner. I love the notes, especially vetiver, caraway and incense.
