By Kilan,  founded by Creative Director Kilian Hennessy, who began his career at Dior, worked with the Puig Group on Paco Rabanne, then the Gucci Group on Alexander McQueen and  L’Oreal on Giorgio Armani before starting his company in 2007 with six perfumes and one counter at Bergdorf Goodman,  has sold the brand to Estee Lauder Companies. Lauder has built up a portfolio of luxury, emerging and formerlyindependent brands such as M·A·C Cosmetics, Tom Ford Beauty, Prescriptives, Bobbi Brown, Jo Malone London, Smashbox, RODIN olio lusso, Le Labo, Editions de Parfums Frédéric Malle, and GLAMGLOW.

According to Businesswire.com: “Kilian’s heritage of sophistication and luxury is a terrific match for The Estée Lauder Companies,” said William P. Lauder, Executive Chairman, The Estée Lauder Companies Inc. “One of our leading strengths is the ability to identify brands with unique positioning and nurture them to realize their full growth potential. We are so pleased to partner with Kilian to continue this legacy, and we welcome him and his team to our family.”

  • No surprise there
By kilians new stuff is really mainstream
Didn’t know he was with puig or Dior makes sense

  • Should I be worried about this??? Hopefully, By Kilian won’t stop making some interesting fragrances and won’t be sold at Sephora…

  • Is the goal for Estee Lauder to own every fragrance house? lol Sorry couldn’t help myself. I don’t frequently wear By Killian, but I will say that it’s not surprising news. Best of luck to the brand.

  • Isn’t Hennesy the H in LMVH?
I think Lauder is a better company but not sure if it’s a good fit
Haven’t worn a Kilian since the ouds
Not a fan these days but I see why there are popular

I hope they don’t reformulate some of my favorite scents like Back to Black, Straight to Heaven, Apple Brandy and many others!

  • What a huge array of lines they have. Not sure how I feel about it. Something to be said for the more hands on personal approach to this industry that may get lost during an acquisition.
