When Managing Editor Tama Blough was in Milan at the Esxence Exhibition last week one of her most pleasant hours was spent with the charming and talented Carlos Huber, the Creative Director of Arquiste Parfumeur. She mentioned really enjoying previewing the two new fragrances, so after much begging and pleading, Carlos was kind enough to send me the details about the two new releases L’Etrog Acqua is scheduled to be released in early June 2014 and The Architects Club in September. Patience is not my strong suit and if you read CaFleureBon, chances are you read our blog to read about what's new and note worthy.
Carlos is an architect and if somehow this is your first time reading about the line, he works with perfumers Rodrigo-Flores Roux and Yann Vasnier to create fragrances that are time capsules. We all have our favorites, from Animas Dulcis to Boutonniere No 7 which was one of our favorite perfumes in 2012.
L’Etrog was released in 2011 and presented a scented tableau of Succoth in Calabria in 1175. Tama wrote “I was very excited L’Etrog Acqua was created by perfumer Rodrigo Flores-Roux for himself as a summer scent. He liked the citrus of the regular L'Etrog but for a summer scent didn't want the dates and warmer elements. Carlos smelled it on him one day and said "What is that?" With a bit of tweaking it became what he calls "not a flanker, but a brother from the same gene pool."
L’Etrog Acqua
Early Morning, October 1175, Calabria
The cool night air dissipates under the sun’s first rays. The ripe citrus in the field has absorbed all of the morning dew and the farmers are ready to work on the misty green fields. They leave their cabin built of wooden branches and leaves and take a deep breath of fresh air
Notes include: Myrtle leaf, Calabrese Cedrat, Sicilian Lemon, Italian Mandarin, Petitgrain Citronnier, Bergamot, Labdanum, Cedar wood, Vetiver.
Developed with Rodrigo Flores Roux
The Architects Club
Dusk, March, 1930, Mayfair, London
A group of architects gather for cocktails at Mayfair's smartest Art Deco smoking room. As they settle in the warm interior of dark woods, leather and velvet, London's bright young things burst in, frosted martinis in hand, surrounded by a cloud of laughter, white smoke and fine vanilla.
Notes include: Juniper berry oil, Angelica root, Lemon, Bitter Orange, Pepper wood, Guaiac wood, Oak wood, Vanilla Absolute and Amber.
Developed with Yann Vasnier
Prices 100ml/170 Euros or $190
