The 7th tome in Amouage's Library Collection was inspired by Creative Director Christopher Chong's desire to capture  mankind's long and tumultous journey  in the pursuit of knowledge and the.euphoria and liberation once it is obtained.

Opus VII literally stands out from the previous six editions as it is the first to use a black flacon with gold criss cross lines; an allegory of the mind when thoughts are subjected and diverted. The use of galbumum and violet in Opus VII are integral to the composition and Christopher's vision.

Top:Galbaumum, Pink Pepper, Cardamom, Nutmeg, Fenugreek

Heart: Agarwood (oud) smoke, patchouli, ambrox, leather, ambergris

Base: Costus Root, muscone (synthetic musk), sandalwood, Olibanum, Cypriol (a woody note with earthy and spicy nuances)

Opus VII was composed by Alberto Morillas and Pierre Negrin

    Christopher Chong’s story must be interesting..how come he was chosen to be the creative director of Amouage because outside Amouage, i have never heard of any of his work yet it seems he has been doing great work at Amouage and has justified his selection.. i wonder who made the bet on him and what prompted them to do so

    That’s a great description for Opus VII.
    When I first tried it last week my thought were – it smells dark, like a dense tincture, like a black ink.

    he does have an unconventional path towards being Amouage creative director…i am not learning from opera masters or anything like that, just through the pains and gains of life itself, does that also prepare me for such a career 🙂

    A faustian perfume! I have only tried one Amouage perfume, Lyric Woman, which did not register at all with me but Opus VII sounds like a dense, spicy, woody creature, what’s not to love!

    Every Amouage is worth sniffing. Even if it’s not something I’d wear, and there aren’t many like that, it’s always a fascinating experience.

    I would love to own an amouage fragrance sometime in my life, I have a few on my list already. With those notes I know amouage wont dissapoint and maybe if I get a chance to try it, VII may eventually go on that list.
