Maître Parfumeur Lucien Ferrero with his latest release Rose Abricot from his Anthologie by Lucien Ferrero collection wanted “to represent the velvety touch of the petals of this wonderful apricot rose that blooms in my garden, on a gourmand base sustained by modern ambery notes.” Rose Abricot sensual petals and delicious fruits never gets too sweet. There’s an elegant balance of the two wrapped in cozy musk and woods. Summer days to enjoy all year round.

Bergamot’s citrus freshness drips like sunlight down neroli’s soft green leaf green stems. There’s a tender bite of bitter thorns that softens as you reach the top as Rose Abricot blooms transforming into a soft haze of florals. Gentle berry like aromas swirl with hints of orange giving a light sweetness to the unfurling peony petals that form a bed for a velvety powdery rose to blossom on. You can feel the petals of the rose, a gentle firmness with a sensual velvet texture, it’s almost a fine powder it’s that soft. Rose Abricot envelops you in its rosy aura with a cosy feel of powdery musky woods giving the rose a gentle weight, airy and light with a refined elegance. A honeyed glow whispers of light spices feeling like its flower is dense with petals fresh from morning dew.

Sweet jammy notes are released as the rose opens. Bright sticky apricot aromas give a lovely contrast to the soft velvet petals of the rose. The fruitiness gives a lovely playful edible feel to more refined rose giving Rose Abricot a summery joyousness. The creamy fruitiness of the apricot slides seductively over the rose petals melting into the velvet texture where it’s meets. Powdery ionones keep the rose feeling powdery and soft, absorbing the fruits and making it become one with the rose. There’s a lovely use of Ambroxan and musks keeping Rose Abricot feeling light and airy with a lovely clean feel. It has that casual luxury of a high end spa, with sleek blonde wood furniture present adding to the ambience but it’s not the star, it’s rose and apricots delightful dance of fruit fresh and elegant depth with powdery woods as support. It’s the kind of fruity aroma you want to sink your teeth into the feel the gentle embraces of the rose petals.
As Rose Abricot dries down you can feel the apricot darken. Lucien Ferrero cleverly uses raspberry to extend its fruity facets while beautifully merging with the rose giving it more depth letting its darker tones make the brighter ones shine. It’s a lovely contrast of plump fruity aromas and soft velvet petals, you can feel them move over each other with a playful grace. There’s also a lovely tang of blackcurrant near the end of Rose Abricot’s dry down, it’s gives a darker juiciness to the rose. Teasing out more body, letting the roses sensuality shine for those who get close to you.
