Top Five Best Fall Fragrances

Tomorrow marks the Autumn equinox, the transition between summer and fall here in the Northern Hemisphere. We celebrate the change of season with our Top Five Best Fall Fragrances. Video Contributor Steven Gavrielatos and ÇaFleureBon E-I-C Michelyn Camen co-curated five for 2025. With spices, vanilla, tobacco, caramel, and boozy notes, (and a surprise fruit ingredient) each are bold and colorful, just like the season. All have incredible longevity and sillage.

Tom Ford Tobacco Vanille is iconic. It is one of our top five fall fragrances because of its unexpected twist of pipe tobacco and spices which adds depth to a rich, but never overtly sweet vanilla with an amber drydown. It is the kind of lusciously warm perfume that smells great on skin with a scent trail that lingers on your sweater. -Michelyn

Xerjoff Casamorati1888 Lira which launched in 2011, is one of my most loved fragrances and made it into our Top Five Best Fall Fragrances with no second guessing (I have gone through three bottles). Blood orange is dipped in caramel, as jasmine blossom and rose petals swirl around bergamot. Deeper tones are added by cinnamon, vanilla and musk. Honestly, I wear it all year round, but it’s really my go-to in the fall and winter-Michelyn

Mancera Intense Instant Crush is “the newest iteration of the ever-so-popular Instant Crush. This intense version strengthens the sweetness by adding a salted caramel accord for a richness that is a step up from the original. Last hours on skin. Mancera Intense Instant Crush is a perfect balance of rich, exotic, alluring, fascinating, and enduring“. –Steven

By Kilian Angel’s Share: Did you know that Kilian Hennessy is the heir to Hennessy cognac empire? Angel’s Share gets its name from a cognac making process, “la part des anges,” the fumes in oak barrels that rise as the cognac ages. The deep gold color of the jus is from the cognac essence and oil is enhanced by tonka and oak -Michelyn

Hez Parfums Jackson Square is a unique take on a modern chypre with blueberry as a top note. It’s free-spirited, and full of unexpected twists like its namesake the Jackson Square Art Colony in New Orleans, with a vibrant blend of bergamot, black pepper, rose, and cannabis, grounded in patchouli. Bourbon vanilla adds sweetness and sandalwood coziness.-Michelyn

  • I like the overall descriptions of the Fragrances. I don’t like it when people just repeat the notes. I want to know how they combine to give the overall impression and both Michelyn and Steven do a good job at that. I’m most interested in Jackson Square. It sounds very unique and both descriptions were very different.

  • Angela Livingston says:

Descriptions of the agents are so helpful. I have a sample of Jackson square and I love it. Not a fan of gourmands or super sweet perfumes but I know instant crush and angels share are top tier. Thanks for the video and chance to win. Austin Texas.

  • Just like Steven I often come back to Tobacco Vanille again and again. The pipe tobacco with spices and vanilla smell deep and great.
I am not familiar with Lira and Instant Crush. The blood orange and cinnamon in Lira, the rich exotic and enduring Instant Crush sound great.
Angel’s Share smells beautiful and alluring. Thank you Michelyn for explaining the background story of the Hennessy family and their cognac empire.
Hez Parfums Jackson Square sounds unique with the blueberry note and the unexpected twists. I like the presentation too.
    From EU.

  • Yes i feel that when you think of fall and winter, first two fragrances that come to mind is Tobacco Vanille and Angels’ Share. I would like to know how Jackson Square smells like.

  • Gabriela Corbett says:

I love how the fragrances are described and the feeling you get from each one. Who it’s for and who would like each one. The channel is great. So glad I found it. Have gifted some suggestions and the giftees loved the fragrances.

  • Michelyn’s love of Xerjoff Casamorati1888 Lira makes it a year-round wear. Hez Parfums Jackson Square is a modern chypre that is unique, free-spirited and unique–a boozy Bourbon vanilla that is sweet and cozy. Killian Angel Share with its cognac essence, tonka and oak, make it a standout for Fall.
Mancera Intense Instant Crush is elevated from the original with the addition of a salted caramel accord that bring richness to the original DNA of Instant Crush. Tom Ford’s Tobacco Vanille
is iconic with its cigar tobacco and spices which brings depth and a richness to the slightly sweet vanilla and amber. When the weather dips, any of these scents are perfect to reach for fall weather scents,
    .
Steve is in agreement with Michelyn on the iconic Tobacco Vanille being perfect for Fall; he continually comes back to it, even though he has similar scents that have that same DNA, they can’t top Tobacco Vanille. The Spiciness of Intense Instant Crush sets it apart from its predecessor. Xerjoff Casamorati1888 Lira is another iconic showstopper that is a beautiful done gourmand, Killian Angel Share for Steve is an essential scent for any perfume connoisseurs’ Fall List: dark, mysterious, charismatic, long lasting, it is gorgeous, boozy scent great in fall and winter. Hez Parfums Jackson Square is an indie scent that doesn’t follow trends–something unique and truly original for Steve; a beastmode scent that shines in the Fall and Winter as well. Strong, rich, very spicy, boozy, warm, cozy; it is “loud” yet nuanced and balanced overall–a sensual and provocative scent that isn’t for the faint of heart.

  • Steven really picked 5 fragrances that are perfect for the autumn. Fall is a season where it’s not too cold and not too hot that you can really play around with different scents and select which one shines on your skin. Tobacco Vanille has been around for forever and it’s a sure hit anytime of year but especially the fall. Lira borders on gourmand territory without being overly sweet and done to perfection in the Xerjoff way. Intense Instant Crush is a beefier version of the original (which I own) and can’t even imagine the longevity knowing the first one lasts an eternity. Angel’s Share is known in the entire world and loved by many for its cognac and sweet facets. Then we have Jackson Square. I’m familiar with other Hez releases and this one uses a note of blueberry which you don’t see often. What I can gather is a mix of different scents (à la New Orleans, a blend of many things) in the most cohesive and creative way. I’d probably pick at least 3 of these fragrances myself for fall too. I’m located in the USA.

  • I love Tom Ford fragrances now that my fragrance maturity has grown. I have always loved angel share. I cannot wait to get into the deep fall fragrance season!!!!

  • I appreciate your thoughtfulness in your reviews. It’s refreshing with all the hype in the community. I’m relatively new.

    Warm regards,
    Jom

I enjoyed reading Michelyn’s brief overviews and watching Steven’s video on the top 5 best fall fragrances. It was good to see some obvious classic fragrances mixed with some lesser known fragrances like Jackson Square. Jackson Square sounds like a really interesting scent for the upcoming spring with it’s blend of blueberry mixed with florals and spices. I live in Maryland USA.

  • First Steven and Michelyn do amazing and thoughtful reviews. I watch Steven daily for fragrance news and read read reviews consistently. Tabacco Vanille is a classic fall scent. It is such an icon for good reason. I like it on a man. I need to pick up Lira. I’ve had samples smelled it out it’s beautiful. I don’t know why it isn’t in my collection yet. I have not tried the instant crush but the original is nice so i have high hopes. I love a little sweet in my scents. I am a big fan of angel share the boozy sweetness just pulls you in. It’s so sexy and captivating. A few years ago you couldn’t pry it out of my hands. I haven’t had the pleasure of experiencing Jackson Square. It sounds beautiful. I love the city of New Orleans. We went to see family there a lot when i was young, Such an amazing vibrant city. i would love to try this especially with Steven an Michelyn singing its praise. A little sexy spicy sweet sounds amazing. I am in US Pennsylvania

  • I’ve never tried anything from the Hez parfums brand and i’m curious about Jackson Square since it has some interesting notes like violet leaf and cannabis. The four perfumes from the list of Michelyn and Steven are all great bangers for this type of weather and most probably Jackson Square fits there perfectly. Thanks for the chance, i’m in the EU.

  • Both Steven and Michelyn portray a unique gift- the ability to transport their listeners through portals of descriptive prisms and into aromas that stimulate the imagination and stir the senses.

  • Josie Sullivan says:

I enjoyed both Steven’s video and Michelyn’s comments on the fragrances as they clearly and succinctly described these scents that are perfect for Fall. I mostly appreciate the honest reviews and how clearly the fragrances were explained

  • Choosing the right fragrance for fall isn’t just about smelling good—it’s about creating a mood, making a statement, and embracing the season’s cozy sophistication. The video and article teach that warm, spicy, and gourmand notes like tonka bean, vanilla, and amber can elevate your presence in colder weather, helping you stand out with elegance and intention. A well-selected perfume becomes part of your personal brand, especially when the air turns crisp.

  • Fernando Acosta says:

How I love everything about fall and it’s weather. I particularly enjoy laying of clothes and aromas. Lyra is just such a yummy fragrance and I can’t wait to try Hez Perfumes Jackson Square (rose and black pepper together are to die for). I’m loving this blog. Cheers!

  • I think you made very solid choices for fall fragrances. Tobacco Vanille put TF on the map for good reason, and it’s more approachable than the equally good Tobacco Honey from Guerlain (where honey can sometimes overwhelm). Lira is good because the inclusion of the florals keep it from being too literal as food, and the caramel gives those florals a fall twist. I also appreciate that Kilian’s background weaves together smell and taste and overall heightens senses (and says fall like sipping cognac by a fireplace). I really want to get my nose on Jackson Square because the base as you describe ot sounds right for cool weather but the opening seems more like early fall and the warmth of day that grows cool at night.

I would also recommend a smoky tea scent like L’Artisan Parfumeur Tea for Two (if boozy notes are too much for your teetotaler nose), or something cashmere to wrap yourself in like Rirana Mawar Cashmere (or one of the Donna Karan cashmeres; I like Cashmere & Wild Fig). I’m also hopeful for Kilian protégé Chris Collins’s Forbidden Apple that just came out (waiting on my sample of it).

  • I hate the smell of the actual cannabis plant. A decade ago I would cringed driving around certain zones areas of Denver that allowed growing at the time. It was because of my love of perfume that I began to enjoy that cannabis note and accord through the likes of Akro Haze and Beso Feliz. I found I like the stylized abstraction of cannabis with the the hazy, slightly bitter-green, resinous vibe, but without the sharp skunky note of the real plant. I would be very curious to sample Jackson Square because of this note. I am in the US.

  • this article made me feel so inspired for the season ahead- the way each fragrance was described really captured the cozy & colorful spirit of fall. i love that the notes weren’t just listed, but, painted a whole mood, making me excited to experience autumn through these fragrances! it wrapped you in the magic of autumn- comforting, colorful, & full of depth just like the fragrances themselves. i could almost feel the shift of the season while reading it!

& for hez parfum’s ‘ jackson square…’ this sounds so intriguing. the idea of weaving blueberry into a modern chypre instantly sets it apart. it gives it a playful & unexpected spark from the top! i love how the description actually mirrors jackson square, itself— vibrant, eclectic, & full of character. it made the fragrance feel alive & connected to this very real place. the article made it feel less like an article being written & more like a story being told.

i loved reading the article & watching the youtube- they were both so insightful on each fragrance & how they can all elevate this coming season for the person wearing them. & of course, makes you want to have each of these fragrances in your collection, whether the fall season, or not. . but, especially the coming autumn. thank you for these reviews- whether one doesn’t know what to wear or wants to add to their collection… the article & youtube are perfect guiding light for readers & viewers, alike!

  • I appreciate the way that both Steven and Michelyn emphasize how these fragrances actually wear. I also appreciate how many classic fragrances are on this co-curated list (especially if one includes the new Instant Crush flanker). That said, the one that most interests me (in part because I haven’t smelled it) is a newer fragrance…and the one that you’re having a giveaway for. Jackson Square sounds like something I’d love. I’m in Oklahoma, USA.

  • Laura Hamrick says:

Lira is a personal fav – glad she made the list! Three bottles- wow! I’ve got some catching up to do!! I have not tried any of your other fall top 5 but would love to!!

  • The written brief had me interested in Jackson Square. A very unusual set of notes in it. The video confirmed the aspects of Jackson Square I think I’d enjoy. US

  • Fall is definitely the time for fragrances with warm spices, gourmand notes and boozy elements. I’ve tried several of Steven and Michelyn’s picks including the TF Tobacco Vanille, Mamcera’s Intense Instant Crush and By Killian Angel’s Share. Hez Parfums Jackson Square sounds like a great addition to this group with the warm black pepper and gourmand bourbon vanilla notes. Steven notes the uniqueness of the scent in his review. MD, USA

  • Great list, highlighting warmer, sweeter, heavier scents than we’ve been wearing in heat and humidity. Tom Ford Tobacco Vanille is the only one of these I’ve tried, but I’ve wanted to try Kilian Angel’s Share for a while, and that blueberry note over loud spice in Jackson Square is intriguing. Michelyn provided some nice context for these fragrances and Steven’s review included an interesting distinction between very sweet spiced fragrances and “full-blown gourmands”. (Also, didn’t realize that Kilian bottle is so striking.) Now I’m really looking forward to wearing some fragrances with that DNA.

I’m in the USA. Thanks for the giveaway!

  • Tabaco vanille is such a daring fragrance as defined by Steven with a cherry moistened touch. Michelyn describes the longevity of this without being overtly sweet.

Instant crush sweet and spicy gourmand with hours of longevity as described by Steve.

Lira is sweet caramel cinnamon and floral bomb. Michelin describes this as an all year wear but shines in the winter and fall. Blood orange and vanilla. Such and intriguing combination as described by Steven.

Angels share is the ode to the whiskey aging process the evaporation or the cut of the whiskey the angels take. The whiskey booziness and the sweetness of the fragrance with the spice.

Last but not least Hez Parfums Jackson square is a beast mode. Pressurized atomizer. The blueberry, patchouli bomb, that is unique refined and loud. This is my kind of fragrance as highlighted by both Steven and Michelyn.

  • Hez Parfums has so many intriguing blends! It sounds like such a fun house that really embodies the joie de vivre of Nola. I love a great chypre. And using coriander is such a cool idea to add in to one. Steven said it’s warm and bold and great for cooler weather.
I am located in the U.S.

  • ThatMulattoDude says:

Is there any better time of year than Fall? I think not and the fragrance lineup that can be rolled out is a lot more diverse, including a lot of the darker and spicier notes and accords that I really dig. Steven and Ms. Michelyn are spot on with their takes on these gems. In particular, the blueberry note is a unique inclusion into the chypre profile of Jackson Square. I’ve never been to New Orleans so I’m not sure how faithful to the vibe of the city is but the notes are intriguing. Would love to add this to the collection. Appreciate the generosity of Hez Parfums for the giveaway opportunity. Many blessings from Virginia, USA!

  • I enjoyed Steven’s video for its engaging breakdown of each fragrance’s vibe, especially highlighting Jackson Square’s bold, unique blueberry-chypre blend. Michelyn’s overviews added rich context, like the Hennessy heritage behind Angel’s Share and Lira’s year-round appeal, painting vivid seasonal imagery. I live in Poland, EU.

  • The reviews of the fragrance almost make me feel like I am ready for fall (I’m a summer gal). I recently ran out of my bottle of Lira. Steven makes me want to try Tobacco Vanille again, I found it a little too strong. Jackson Square has my interest with the balanced spices. I found Angel Share had too much cinnamon for me. Thanks for the chance. USa.

  • Kensolfactoryodyssey says:

I enjoyed Steven’s take on the richness of Mancera Intense Instant Crush, and Michelyn’s caramel-dipped blood orange in Lira really caught my attention. Her description of Hez Parfums Jackson Square with blueberry and bourbon vanilla sounds both unique and cozy. USA entry.

  • foreverscents says:

I really enjoyed watching Steven’s informative video and reading Michelyn’s overviews. I have Tobacco Vanilla, and agree that it is a head turner with such a wonderful scent trail. I also love Angle’s Share. I am usually on the fence with fragrances that remind me of alcoholic beverages. but this one is indeed lovely. I am excited that Jackson Square is the giveaway fragrance. The blueberry note and the New Orleans reference intrigues me.
    I live in the USA.

  • I always enjoy Steven’s video and have been a long-time subscriber. His reviews are never overcomplicated and instead distilled.
I was most interested in Michelyn’s review of Hez. My favourite notes are rose and black pepper, and I’m intrigued about the twist of blueberry. I enjoy the blueberry in Poets of Berlin, which on some days can be too fruity. I would expect the rose and black pepper to tone down the blueberry’s fruitiness in Hez.
    I live in the US.

  • As we enter the early fall I feel like the warm and spicy type of aromas that bring that crisp nuance as the air changes. I’ve been a Mancera collector for a short period of time. Went through most of my bottles before realizing how strong they truly are. Angel share gets a lot of attention but my Khamrah has macerated and is great. The hez sounds like something special but I’m starting to appreciate the lighter perfumes and also dont want to fall into a seasonal typecasting with my scents. Want to win, from NC.
