La Playa by CARNER BARCELONA (Adriana Medina-Baez) 2025+ Endless Summer Giveaway

La Playa by Carner Barcelona

Le Playa by Carner Barcelona by Steven

I have been always a perfume lover; but my first scent memories are those of smells. When I look back at my decision of starting my own Perfume company and all that was involved in launching CARNER Barcelona, I have no doubts I made the best decision. I feel privileged to be able to work in a profession that fulfills me and in which I can translate my culture and feelings through scent to the rest of the world”. – Sara Carner from Michelyn’s interview in 2013

Composed by Adriana Medina-Baez Vice President Perfumer at Givaudan, this fragrance reimagines the essence of beach life for a generation that embrace summer not as a season, but as a way of being. -A note from the brand

I enjoyed Steven’s review of La Playa. I liked how he mentioned how the Ylang Ylang, cardamom, and pistachio make this fragrance different from other coconut dominant scents. I enjoyed reading about Sara Carner’s decision to start her own fragrance company. I live in Maryland USA.

Stephen was one of the first influencers that I found for reviewing fragrances and i feel he’s very trustworthy. I appreciate the comparison and contractions he has with this perfume. He makes this sound intriguing listing lots of edible scents but stating it’s not too gourmand but is fresh. He truly makes it sound evocative of summer!

  • Living in Jamaica means it’s always summer — endless sunshine, warm breezes, and flavors that remind you to slow down and enjoy life. Recently, Steven’s review had me at coconut and pistachio — a pairing that instantly caught my attention. The creamy richness of coconut with the nutty elegance of pistachio feels like a match made for our island’s “forever summer.”

  • A beachy scent Steve truly feels encapsulates summertime,
this scent differs from the usual coconut scents on the market. With pistachio and vanilla, it is fresh as well as tropical from the Ylang Ylang, with some sweetness without veering into gourmand territory. La Playa has a touch of the beachy suntan lotion vibe that elevated with the addition of Indian cardamon that gives it a unique spicy perspective without overpowering it and the coconut that dominates alongside citrus…for him it is in a league of its own.

  • What I like about Stephen is the guy honestly and talking from his heart ,when someone talking from the heart is going straight to your heart, don’t get me wrong when he doesn’t like something he will say that no hesitation, these stuff make him one of the best perfume YouTuber over the years and he will be more successful the years to come

Steven described the scent in such a way that makes the scent come alive. The combination of orange blossoms, coconut milk and vanilla have me totally enthralled with the expectation of this lovely scent.

  • I’m intrigued with La Playa and always interested in trying new vanilla and coconut fragrances.

  • The description of this wonderful cologne is totally up my alley being a coconut, vanilla and pistachio mix, especially considering it’s a summer fragrance with a twist. Very intrigued by it and what line has to offer.

  • Your review on this scent made me really want to get my nose on it. I had a bottle about 5 years ago and I think it was an Amber scent and I loved it period I really love coconut especially in summer fragrances.

From Steven’s description sounds like a nice one for me. I love coconut fragrances. Coming from hot and spicy Orlando FL

Steven brought the La Playa scent by Carner Barcelona to life with his enchanting descriptions. The blend of orange blossoms, creamy coconut milk, and warm vanilla captivates my senses, filling me with excitement for this delightful fragrance. His charismatic storytelling completely mesmerizes me, allowing me to almost indulge in the scent just by listening to him. With his poetic approach to describing perfumes, I’ve found myself purchasing many fragrances after hearing his thoughtful reviews. His admiration for the art of scent truly shines through, making each experience feel special and inviting.

  • Well, I started with M. Carner’s interview, and having enjoyed a visit to Barcelona, I now want to try her scent El Born, and Cuirs.
Thank you Steven for a lovely review for a fun, coconutty, citrus-y, informal, cardamom-y, summery scent. I do love coconut and appreciate that this is a unique take on a summer-evocative scent, that is not too gourmand. I really like the wood cap that M Carner mentions is made by artisans on the Catalan.
Thank you for a generous draw and wonderful reviews, as ever, from seattle, where I may occasionally spritz a summer scent during the gray and rainy, days of winter.

  • Steven always has the best content!!! A pistachio note mix with coconut milk sounds fire, could be an all year evening scent.

  • ItsVictoriaLouise says:

As someone who lives in sunny Texas, the summer heat last a pretty long time. I do not have anything in my perfume collection that smells like coconut, so as a blind buyer I am intrigued to try. Steven is the only male perfume reviewer that I follow. I enjoyed his thorough and honest review of the perfume. He did not over or under sell the product and clearly stated who would enjoy the fragrance and the season this scent is best suited for.

  • The initial notes of lemon, orange, even coconut drew my interest and led me here. The base notes that promise a creamy, sweet finish truly raised my expectations! I live in a warmer climate, so I could absolutely enjoy this scent now, and it would give me something to look forward to as shorter winter passes and warm temperatures arrive again soon.

Reading the story of how Sara grew up with a family of hard-workers and manufacturers, leather makers and very crafty people around her, it instilled in her this desire to create. Carner Barcelona is a house that has been around forever and criminally underrated if you ask me and they have some very unique and creative scents. La Playa has all the ingredients that give you a beachy affair and I am very happy myself Steven mentioned it having lots of coconut. My breakfast every morning is smoothie I make with coconut milk so this is right up my alley. I am also noticing the box in the video and they’ve done a bit of a revamp as well to go with the fragrance in the box. Even though summer is coming to an end it’s still hot enough to rock La Playa for many more weeks. I’m located in the USA and many thanks to Design Hub 95 for the amazing giveaway.

  • The first thing that caught my attention is Steven saying this is coconut forward and it’s not a gourmand. I also love ylang ylang in summer fragrances. Coconut and ylang ylang notes make me think of a tropical beach on a hot day watching the blue water. I also love that Sara Carner speaks on her passion for perfumery. When someone puts their heart in a fragrance it comes through because it represents them. It’s also so inspiring to hear she follwed her dream of starting her own brand and she says it’s the best thing she did. This sounds like such a beautiful scent. I’m in the USA

I love the interesting mix of ingredients, is it beachy, gourmand, or summery, or all 3! Thanks!

  • Miguel Quiroz says:

I would love to be able to try this out. Had to sell most of my collection awhile back due to medical bills. Would love to have this and start over little by little.

  • Stacey nemchick says:

I’m just starting to love fragrance again! I have been struggling with my mental health due to multiple life circumstances but coming out of the dark and now taking care of MYSELF.
Many scents take me back to different life experiences. I’m trying to create new ones!! I’m a young 52 and loving life again!!!

  • Harmony Rocourt says:

he is always enjoyable to watch and is very into the product which I like. it gives me the confidence to buy it. He has been pretty great with picking lovely scents.

  • I’m very curious about the prospect of contrasting the more edible associated components Steven mentioned such as coconut (milk), pistachio, and vanilla, along with the subtle integration of a counter-balancing presence like Indian cardamom. I’m hoping that this spice note juxtaposition (along with the aura of freshness and floral impact which Steven emphasized) could serve to keep the composition from becoming overly gourmand leaning for tastes (like mine) wary of strong sweetness in warmer weather scents.

I also would love to find out whether these disparate seeming elements could combine together to achieve a goal of producing a high heat friendly fragrance which manages to avoid crossing over into the realm of becoming so sunscreen reminiscent that it almost feels like a parody of summer fragrance stereotypes.
