Ormonde Jayne Vetiveria (Ormonde Jayne Studio) 2025 + Pulse of the Rainforest Giveaway

Ormonde Jayne Vetiveria

In the quiet refinement of the Melia Milano Hotel Suites during Esxence, I experienced Ormonde Jayne Vetiveria—a composition that reframes the familiar narrative of vetiver through a lens of luminous clarity and natural complexity. This is the vetiver of Indonesia’s emerald interiors, not as a brooding base note, but as a living, breathing presence—one that moves effortlessly between air and earth.

Part of the Four Corners of the Earth collection, Ormonde Jayne Vetiveria opens with a vivid expression of citrus that recalls the bright, expansive signatures of Montabaco Verano and Cuba. Yet, where those fragrances cast their light across Mediterranean terraces and sun-drenched boulevards, Ormonde Jayne Vetiveria directs its radiance inward—through the shaded understory of the rainforest, where shafts of light cut through dense foliage and the air vibrates with quiet life. The opening sequence is immediate and bracing: Sicilian lime provides a sharp, almost crystalline brightness, while Timur pepper and juniper berry introduce an aromatic tension, lifted further by the cooling sharpness of sage. This citrus presence is not fleeting; it persists and refracts through the entire composition, a thread of light winding through a landscape of shadowed greens.

At the heart of Ormonde Jayne Vetiveria, snowbell and lavender soften the structure, offering an impression of diffused light rather than overt floralcy These notes seem less about scent and more about space—creating a moment of calm before the deeper facets of vetiver emerge. The vetiver here is drawn from Java, its character shaped by the heavy rains and fertile soils of the region. This is a softer, more contemplative expression of vetiver—absent the pronounced smoke or leather often found in other varieties. It rises slowly through the composition, bringing with it the scent of damp earth, moss-covered stone, and the faint mineral edge of rain-soaked rockrose.

The base introduces a measured warmth: tonka bean lends a subtle, creamy texture, while the vetiver remains ever-present, its green facets gently rounded but never obscured. The structure remains transparent even in its final stages, allowing each material space to resonate without collapse into density.

Ormonde Jayne Vetiveria draws the wearer into a landscape where the rainforest is not merely a backdrop but an active, breathing environment—where earth and air are held in delicate suspension, and the sensory experience moves between clarity and grounding. It is this interplay—between the immediacy of citrus and the quiet gravity of earth—that defines Ormonde Jayne Vetiveria. A journey not across grand vistas, but through the intimate spaces of nature, where the smallest details—the glint of dew on a leaf, the scent of moss after rain—become the most profound.

Notes: Timur Pepper, Sage, Juniper Berry, Lime, Snowbell, Lavender, Jasmine, Orange blossom, Vetiver, Moss, Rockrose, Tonka bean.

Disclosure: Bottle of Ormonde Jayne Vetiveria offered by the brand; opinions are my own.

  • The note that intrigues me the most based on the review is the note of snowbell.

    Why?

Because I’ve never heard of it! After several years in this hobby, just when you think you know it all, or have smelled it all, you get hit with a note that you’ve never smelled, seen or even heard of. And there’s always the chance, that new note might becomes a new favourite.

    So colour me intrigued!

    London, UK

  • Back in the 90’s the Lady Bird Johnson Gardens in Austin had several variations of rockrose that would bloom this time of year when the humidity and temperatures begin to quickly rise in anticipation of a hot dry Texas summer. My olfactory memories of that garden feel comforting and nurturing – a sweet smokiness similar to Amouage’s Search which I am wearing today.

I wonder how prominent that note along with the lime not are in this fragrance?

Ormonde Jayne Vetiveria! sounds so good!! Timur Pepper, Sage, Juniper Berry, Lime, Snowbell, Lavender, Jasmine, Orange blossom, Vetiver, Moss, Rockrose, Tonka bean. This sounds like an amazing perfume.
I love Ormonde Jayne fragrances they are so sophisticated!!

I knew this was coming soon but didn’t know the story behind the inspiration. Vetiveria takes you inside a forest where you experience everything nature has to offer. You can see from the bottle and the juice what this fragrance will be about. Ormonde Jayne has been around forever so for them to still come up with new concepts and ideas for their catalogue is what keeps the creativity and the house going in 2025. I cannot wait to try these or any of their new offerings. I’m located in the USA.

I like the combination of citrusy accords and vetiver that is typical for the fresh and bright vetiver based scents. Here the vetiver is mixed with lime in the opening, so this perfume sounds wonderful. I am intrigued by this lime accord. From EU.

The “power of narrative ” is certainly present in this review.I am absolutely intrigued by the notes and inspiration of this fragrance.
A note that never heard or even smell before is snowball and I am very intrigued to try it to this rainy forest composition, which sound quite idolic and breathtaking environment to experience.
I really liked the description of this note, together with the lavender they seem to bringe the whole composition and give a supportive role to the main character which is the vetiver. A truly sensory experience that sound to be a well done vetiver fragrance.
Would definitely be interested in this.Thank you for a marvelous review and draw.

  • It’s an obvious answer, but the note that intrigues me most is vetiver. I love vetiver fragrances! And this one sounds especially nice. I’m in Oklahoma, USA.

I love the note of lime in fragrances. I would love to experience lime within the structure of a rainforest fragrance. I live in Maryland USA.

This sounds like such a refreshing take on vetiver! I usually think of vetiver as earthy and smoky, but the way Karl describes it here, lighter, rain-soaked, and balanced with citrus and tonka, really has me curious. I love the idea of a fragrance capturing that calm, misty rainforest vibe. The Timur pepper and juniper berry combo also sounds super intriguing. I’m in the U.S. and would be thrilled to experience this scent for myself!

  • FragranceIsMe says:

Thank you Karl for a wonderful article. There mere fact that you mentioned Montabaco Verano and Cuba, along with vetiver in the same paragraph has me exceedingly overwhelmed with the utmost of olfactive joy! My wife and I are huge fans of the aforementioned and look forward to the wonderful experience that Vetiveria has to offer 🙂

The inspiration of the rainforest is what interested me first. I imagine an earthy ever changing fragrance like the rainforest. Im also curious about the floral notes taking on what is described as a calming role before the vetiver comes back. I also enjoy citrus in my spring/summer fragrances that bring freshness to the scent. I am intrigued Pennsylvania USA

  • Froaderick says:

I’m really growing to appreciate how this house creates fragrances that are light, airy and long-lasting. I’m most curious about how the Juniper berry will be presented. Two of my current favorites are Ormonde Man and the above-noted Montabaco Verano, both incorporating Juniper or Juniper berries with such dramatically different results. Cheers from Ohio, USA! 🙂

  • This is very complex and uniquely layered. I like how the presentation and the advertisement really paints the image of the deep woods and the the serene vegetal livelyness it has. This takes you on a journey and I feel like it immerses the wearer in a jungle spirit. Want to win, from Jacksonville, NC.

  • HueloBien says:

The line that captured my full attention is was the vetiver (base note) is not a brooding base note.

As I understand Karl’s review, Jayne Vetiveria, is not dark or dense.
The idea of a airy, lighter vetiver sounds more appealing to me.

I don’t own any Ormonde Jayne fragrance, and Vetiveria is definitely worth to check out.

    From the USA.

I am so happy about the proliferation of Timur pepper notes in perfumery lately! That’s the note that intrigues me most. It starred in one other new perfume I tried this year. I’d like to get some of the pepper to cook with, and see how the taste compares to sichuan peppercorn. I’m really intrigued by Vetivera in general, because I really love Ormonde Jayne fragrances, and this verdant green perfume sounds so refreshing and absolutely perfect for summer. It’s going on the wishlist, so I’d be over the moon to win. I’m in the USA, thank you for the great review and generous draw.

Ormond Jayne has been one of my favorite house and Vetiver is undoubtedly my top favorite. My Zodiac is earth sign so I resonate deeply with Vetiver note. The Symphony of Vetiver portrayed as walking through a wet rain forest with beaming sun light, the smell of wet soil and mixed with the foliage is very Transportive and puts me into a meditative stage. I really hope to win this please please Thank you for the Opportunity . I am from PA,USA

  • Kensolfactoryodyssey says:

The note that intrigues me most is the Java vetiver—especially Karl’s description of it as a softer, more contemplative expression, shaped by rain and rich soil. I love the idea of vetiver not as a smoky anchor, but as a living, evolving presence that breathes through the composition.
    I live in the USA.

  • It’s a tough choice between the unique vetiver and the snowbell! I think the vetiver wins! I’m really curious to see how this vetiver differs!

  • Most intrigued by rhe juniper note. I just got gentle fluidity silver and would love to compare how the juniper plays with the more citrus and green notes as opposed to being the star of the show in gfs. Usa

  • I remember the excitement when I ordered my first niche discovery set back in early 2015, which was Ormonde Jayne. The market has drastically changed since then, but OJ is still there and running. And I turned out to be a sucker for vetiver. So here we are, I am so curious where the typical style meets my favourite note. Can’t wait to smell it. I’d love to win this to Germany, thank you for the draw!

  • Honestly, the Java vetiver has me completely hooked. The way Karl describes it not smoky or leathery, but soft, earthy, rain-soaked… it sounds like vetiver reimagined as poetry. I love when a note you think you know suddenly feels like a new discovery. I can almost smell the moss and damp stone he’s talking about.

I think it’s the Timur pepper for me! I’ve never even heard of it before reading this, but it sounds so cool peppery with a citrus twist? Yes please! I’m just starting to explore perfumes and I love these unexpected notes that make a fragrance feel like a little adventure.

  • Lastochka says:

Lavender, definitely. I’m a sucker for anything with that calming, slightly herbal floral touch, and the way Karl describes it here as something that shapes the space rather than shouting “flowers!” just really speaks to me. It sounds beautifully balanced and meditative.

  • AromaAdventurer says:

The moss and rockrose part totally got me. I could see the rainforest floor when I read that wet stone, green shadows, quiet air. I love fragrances that feel like little landscapes you can carry with you. This one sounds like it tells a whole story.

  • LindenNoir says:

What intrigued me most was actually the lime strange, I know, since it’s so common. But the way it’s described as lasting and refracting throughout the scent instead of just popping in and vanishing? That’s not typical. Citrus with longevity that plays a structural role is something I’d love to experience firsthand.
