M. Micallef Hypnotic Musk by Olya Bar
Attention, musk lovers—there’s a new obsession in town, and it’s dangerously sensual. M. Micallef has mastered the art of musk, and if you thought Royal Muska was the pinnacle of feminine allure, think again. While Royal Muska drapes you in powdery elegance, the latest addition to the Jewel Collection—Hypnotic Musk—turns up the sensuality to full volume.

This fragrance is dripping with ripe, juicy decadence—berries, fruits, and florals bursting at their peak, swirling around a hypnotic musk core. From the first spritz, I was hooked. In fact, I could have sworn there was a lush, sun-drenched peach at its heart, only to realize it’s not even in the composition. Yet, the illusion lingers—a phantom note of the overripe fruit teasing the senses.
M. Micallef keeps delivering gem after gem, each one a new chapter, never a repeat. Hypnotic Musk is no exception—it’s a statement of seduction, a fragrance that refuses to go unnoticed. The opening hits with a jammy, mouthwatering burst of sweet raspberry—ripe, syrupy, and utterly addictive. But just as it threatens to go full sugar rush, a refined iris and violet duo steps in, smoothing out the tartness with a velvety, powdery touch. A hint of ginger flickers through, not sharp or brash, but a subtle, fragrant whisper that adds just enough spice to keep things interesting.

If you’ve followed my reviews, you know I have a soft spot for lychee—and it’s been having a well-deserved moment these past couple of years. Here, it’s luminous, juicy, and almost effervescent, adding a playful contrast to the depth of the composition. And then there’s another note we have been seeing in many of the recent gourmand editions—the whole thing is drenched in molten caramel, like liquid gold weaving through the notes, making Hypnotic Musk as indulgent as it is irresistible. The dry down is worthy of the name—a creamy swirl of sandalwood, a whisper of salty ambergris, a swirl of vanilla that clings to the skin like the memory of a touch, and a warm, downy musk that lingers long after the moment has passed.
But let’s talk about that musk for a second—it has presence. It’s the scent of freshly laundered sheets, still warm from the dryer, wrapping around you in a cocoon of comfort. Familiar, yet undeniably addictive. Soft, yet charged with something mesmeric. The kind of scent you keep coming back to, without even realizing you’ve already fallen under its sweet spell. Launched just weeks before Valentine’s Day, Hypnotic Musk is here to steal hearts—and maybe break a few.
Notes: Raspberry, Bergamot, Iris; Caramel, Violet, Ginger, Lychee; Sandalwood, Ambergris, Vanilla and Musk.
