Scents of Man Godred

Scents of Man is an artisanal, independent small business in Ramsey, on the Isle of Man in the Northern Irish Sea. It is acknowledged as one of the Celtic Nations full of myth, folklore, and legends and said to be the home of “the little folk.” It is a Skincare and Perfume Company that loves what it does and takes it seriously. Scents of Man grows and distills its crops with love and without pesticides in small batches as much as possible while sourcing other materials from trusted suppliers. I was pleasantly surprised and exhilarated by the fragrances of this brand and need to try their Rose Absolute Cream. It appears packed with quality ingredients everyone wants in a face cream, all-natural and of the highest quality and formulated with cutting-edge research.

Scents of Man Godred (named after the first King of Man Godred Crovan) opens with a zesty citrus note interwoven with the rich decadence of blackcurrant and raspberry’s sweet, playful touch. Godred awakened my senses, allowing me to partake in the island’s mythology with a newfound feeling of freshness, enticement, vitality, and impishness.

The enchantment of this fragrance is inescapable. As the heart notes unfold, the delicate enticement of floral elegance shows itself with the intoxicating bouquet of jasmine and tuberose, adding a heady richness. The lush rose and radiant bursts of neroli create a luminous aura with a refreshing spark and grace. At the same time, I get a softness as heliotrope introduces a powdery sweetness and a jammy juiciness of plum as the whisper of almond offers a sophisticated, nutty depth. It is an experience that celebrates the beauty of nature and invites me to revel in its timeless charm and charisma.

I became more enamored as the base encased the other elements. Scents of Man Godred unveils its rich tapestry with complexity and warmth, anchored by cedarwood’s grounding presence,  patchouli’s nuances, and the earthy, sensuality of oudh. Myrrh adds a resinous,  balsamic quality. Spices and tobacco introduce a depth of comforting aspects that enhance the overall richness and complexness of the fragrance. The dry-down preserves and magically enriches all notes’ intricate essence, charm, and character. Godred left me feeling as if I had been mesmerized by mysticism, and I liked it.

Notes: Bergamot, Blueberry, Raspberry, Blackcurrant, Plum, Vanilla, Jasmine, Rose, Neroli, Honey, Tuberose, Clove, Tobacco, Nutmeg, Pimento, Cinnamon, Cedarwood, Oudh, Patchouli, Musk.

  • Oh I would love to try Scents of Man gourmand offerings, I heard amazing things about the brand! I like to support small, independent businesses and Sandi’s beautiful review on Godred is a testimony to the wonderful creations of this brand. Inspired by folklore and surrounded by mysticism, sounds just like my cup of tea.
    I’m from UK

  • What a beautiful description of what sounds like a truly enchanting artisanal brand. The fruits, spices and tuberose sound just delightful. I would love to explore this house.

  • I have just started to explore perfumes a little bit, and these sounds sooo beautiful. Anyone would be lucky to receive them Good luck to everyone from Norway

  • Sandi’s review of the Godred fragrance by Andrea Byrne is truly captivating. What stands out to me is the intricate blend of notes that she describes. The combination of bergamot, yuzu, and neroli creates a sophisticated and mature opening, which is then enriched by the fruity heart of raspberry, blackberry, and blackcurrant. This mix of citrus and berries sounds both refreshing and luxurious. I live in Trzebnica, Poland, EU.

  • Oh great reminder to try this house! I’ve been wanting to for a while and I really appreciate these small houses and the use of natural ingredients. This sounds amazing, I’d love to try their fig. I am in the USA. Thank you for the generous give away.

Thanks a million from the UK

  • Wow, what a unique and special company! I’m interested in trying these because they grow their own crops, my ancestors are from the Northern part of Ireland and that these are described as gourmand but complex (my favourite scent profile). This review not only transported me there but elicited feelings of coziness, joy and delight. I live just outside Seattle, WA – the perfect climate and geography to wear Scents of Man ❤️! Thank you for the chance to win this discovery kit.

  • Based on Sandi’s review, I am intrigued by the mysticism and depth of Godred, as well as the comforting gourmand elements of Ballure Allure. The descriptions make me imagine unique and evocative scents that truly transport you to a different world. I live in Romania, Europe. Thank you for this generous giveaway!

  • AromaDulce73 says:

Don’t think I’ve smelled a fragrance with a raspberry note, this sounds very interesting. If I win this would be my 1st experience with this house.

I love the description by Sandi for the Drydown of this fragrance. Love the notes of Spices, Myrrh & Tobacco.

  • Would love to try this, from what I heard and based on this article! Would love to try the different scents inspired by folklore and coming from the Northern Irish Sea.

  • Godred sounds like a gourmand dream, actually! I love that it is blended using nonsweet for balance too, and anything with spices and tobacco gets my attention. I would adore trying this house! I live in the US.

  • Scents of Man Godred has a lot going on, between the fruit, florals, spice, tabacco, woods and musk. The sweet-tart combination of blueberry, raspberry, and blackcurrant really jumps out; berry notes strike me as relative uncommon in fragrances of this compositional depth. I particularly love blueberry notes used outside of gourmands. Lovely.

    I’m in the USA.

It is wonderful to read about a perfume house from the Isle of Man. I enjoyed reading about their quality ingredients and their love of their craft. Godred certainly sounds enchanting, with the raspberry and blackcurrant notes mingling with jasmine and tuberose. The myrrh and other spices add to the richness of the fragrance.

  • I love the sound of these, love scents that are really anchored to the place and space in which they’re made.
