MAIR Acqua Di Lusso Review (Clarisse Aparici) + Tribute to Milan Giveaway

MAIR Acqua di Lusso

MAIR Acqua Di Lusso

This fragrance is a tribute to the beauty and refinement I experienced in Milan—a city where luxury meets everyday life. Acqua Di Lusso is a reminder that sometimes the most profound beauty is found in shared, simple moments. I wanted to create a fragrance that captures this elegant balance, a scent that evokes both luxury and a deep sense of comfort.”- Mair Emenogu

Upon reviewing a brand’s current fragrance is always wonder what their next one will be composed of (the notes). In the case of MAIR, her last one, Peony Silk. was all about the florals. Mair wanted that her third fragrance would be an aquatic scent and would have cardamom, a note she obsessed over while researching aquatic scents. Ecco qui! MAIR’S third fragrance, Acqua Di Lusso, Italian for luxury water, is that aquatic. With gorgeous florals floating right below the surface, this is her tribute to Italian elegance and timeless luxury. To be precise, her inspiration was her next fragrance came from the enchanting atmosphere of Milan and its water fountains. Nothing is better when traveling on vacation when everything coalesces to transport you to another place and time.

I am generally a fan of aquatic scents, and I’m a Pisces!  But as a fragrance aficionado, I can recognize a well-turned aquatic and appreciate it. And there is much to admire here. MAIR Acqua Di Lusso is an elegantly done aquatic that’s unexpected . On the initial spray, I recognized that this was more than an aquatic fragrance. The opening entrance of the lemon and bergamot is so uplifting as to rise above the water. Bergamot with its fruity citrus scent, has a mildly spicy and floral undertone that blends nicely with cardamom’s aromatic profile of complexity and richness. It offers a variety of warm, sweet, and just-so-spiciness. Cardamom, mostly used by perfumers as a top note, adds zest and spiciness to what I believe MAIR was looking for here. MAIR is using these notes to transport wearers to a Mediterranean paradise

“Working with Clarisse on this project was like working on a harmony-filled duet. She brought a Mediterranean flair to the body of the scent which made it so unique”-Mair Emenogu.

It’s the middle notes of gardenia, orange blossom, and jasmine that make this fragrance most attractive. The highly fragrant gardenia, commonly used as a middle note, is kept in check here by orange blossom and jasmine. It has a creaminess bordering on a mild sweetness that does tap down the citrus burst of the top notes. The versatility of orange blossom and jasmine are common notes in the floral fragrance family and pair well together to create a soft, romantic floral scent that evokes the fragrant florals of Italy.

The base notes close it out with a delicate touch—creamy coconut, sandalwood, and vanilla  usher in a warmth and softness. I enjoyed Acqua Di Lusso’s freshness in our cooler climate, but the fragrance will really sing in the warmer months, as the sparkling citrus, bergamot, orange blossom, gardenia, jasmine, and coconut are perfect for the spring and summer seasons.  Acqua Di Lusso will transport you to MAIR’S happy place, Italy.

This is the first time I’m reading about this house but everything from the bottle to the inspiration, I’m loving already. I’ve had the privilege to travel to Italy and I can see how an aquatic fragrance came about, Italy is full of coastal towns. During the summer months, you experience the smells and that tropical air as well, in a very Italian way. Lush, delicious aromas fill the air and the coconut note just adds that notion of being by a body of water. Taking into account it’s only the 3rd fragrance this house has produced, they’re on track to become a unique and mesmerizing house. I’m located in the USA.

  • A cardamom not in an aquatic perfume is very interesting. I love cardamom in fragrances and would love to smell this.

  • I live outside Seattle, WA. What intrigued me about this review is how this is more than “just” an aquatic fragrance. The coconut and sandalwood sound like lovely notes to round it out and ground it. Would love to have it for next summer to wear while I’m out on the water! 🙂

  • My takeaway from the review is this fragrance is a tribute to the beauty of Milan for Mair Emenogu. This scent represents balances between luxury and comfort. For Hernando, this is a well-crafted aquatic scent that goes beyond, with its citrusy, floral notes that has a slight creamy sweetness, with the coconut and sandalwood; this encapsulates Italian florals for him—it can be worn year-round but truly shines in the warmer months… it is a showstopper.

  • I’m also obsessed with that note, I always have a bit of fresh cardamom in my kitchen, ready to be smelled.
its unique profile is really stunning, a mix of citrusy, balsamic and spicy notes.
I can actually imagine that this spice can improve and differentiate a marine fragrance from all the others.
I hope to have the opportunity to smell this creation, greetings from Italy.

  • The fragrance captures the essence of Milan’s majestic fountains and combines refreshing aquatic elements with the warm, spicy depth of cardamom and that sparked my interest. I live in Trzebnica, Poland, EU.

I can see the allure of this fragrance, the florals uplifting the citrus, with the woody and vanillic base, so beautiful. There’s something timeless about it, the simplicity is effortless and effective. I live in Oregon.

MAIR is one of my daughter’s favorite fragrance houses. The moment she smelled the line at our local boutique, Perfumology, in Olde City, Philadelphia, it was “love at first sniff”. This latest creations with notes of citrus, spice, florals, sandalwood and vanilla will be sure to please her. A must for her fragrance shelf 🙂

  • Wow!!! Okay I’m a fan of Italian fragrance houses, and a fan of aquatic scents + coconut scents. This sounds like it has it all with the lemon, bergamot and Cardamon to open this scent. Truly written up that it smells like a summer masterpiece

  • This review has me completely intrigued—Hernando’s description of *Acqua Di Lusso* sounds like it perfectly balances freshness and elegance! I love how he highlighted the way cardamom brings warmth and complexity to the sparkling citrus notes—it’s such a unique touch for an aquatic fragrance. And the idea of creamy coconut and sandalwood in the base? That’s a dream combination for a scent that feels luxurious yet comforting. Now I can’t stop imagining being transported to a sunny day in Milan, surrounded by fountains and florals. Definitely adding this to my must-try list!

I’m an acquarius, maybe that’s why I also like aquatics 🙂
If Acqua di lusso draws inspiration in italian elegance – especially Milan, a fashion ground zero – it sounds like you’re in for a luxurious fragrant veil, delicate and soft.
The notes form a mix that’s very suitable for conveying the mediterranean paradise.

  • I used to live in Milan and I have very different memories about the city but I am glad to discover the image Mair Emenogu has about it. This perfume captures the soul of Italy made by water, citrus, flowers, lightheartedness, quite luxury; wearing it makes the frenetic life in Milan more beautiful.

This is pretty interesting!! I live in Milan and I’m so curious about this olfactive interpretation of the place I breath in everyday! If I could imagine a fragrance about my city I wouldn’t for sure come up with an acquatic scent..but that’s the magic of this “scentastic” world: I wish I could discover other aspects of my city through the perceptions of Mair Emenogu and Clarisse Aparici!

Notes: Lemon, Bergamot, Cardamom, Gardenia, Orange Blossom, Jasmine, Coconut, Sandalwood, Vanilla. I am particularly interested in this fragrance because of the Gardenia, Orange Blossom and Jasmine. I am a fan of aquatics but they have to be done properly and this definitely fits the bill. • I’ve not heard of MAIR fragrances before but I appreciate the aesthetic and the inspirations. A Mediterranean based aquatic perfume sounds like heaven. The citrus, florals and delicate coconut-sandalwood-vanilla base sound like a holiday on Capri. The cardamom note is unexpected and I would love to see how it works with the other notes. MD, USA.
