Ormonde Jayne Kashmir (Geza Schoen and Linda Pilkington) 2024 + Kathmandu in the morning Giveaway

Ormonde Jayne Kashmir

Before we watch Steven’s video, I asked Ormonde Jayne’s founder Linda Pilkington to introduce the concept and creative process, exclusively for this review.

“The idea for Ormonde Jayne Kashmir had been lingering in my mind for quite a while, as a perfume necessary for our collection, but I was waiting for that elusive oil, to stay in keeping with the philosophy of Ormonde Jayne – to look for ingredients not widely used in the perfume industry”.

When I received the Deodar oil, I knew the creative process could start. I visited Geza Schoen in Berlin and we sat in his kitchen, discussing the composition for Kashmir and my vision. After several months, I felt the perfume couldn’t be better. The formula was sent to IFF to make sure it was compliant – this is the less romantic part of the story, but a necessary aspect. Ormonde Jayne Kashmir sat perfectly as part of the Route de la Soie collection as the ingredients are all focused on that region and its unique ingredients. Blue poppies seeds are a very familiar to me as an ingredient I use at home kitchen for both savoury and sweet and is part of our DNA, fragrance & flavours. Within Kashmir’s formula, the blue poppy is a fantasy accord, the way I imagine blue poppies to smell if you could extract the oil. Kashmir takes me back to Kathmandu in the morningLinda Pilkington,  Founder, Perfumer and Owner of Ormonde Jayne (exclusively for CaFleureBon).

Steven received a bottle opinions are his own.

Head: Bergamot, Cardamom, Coriander Seed, Saffron, Pink Pepper; Heart: Jasmine, Iris, Rose, Blue Poppy; Soul: Deodar, Sandalwood, Cashmeran, Benzoin, Vanilla, Patchouli, Incense, Myrrh, Musk

I’ve smelled just a few Ormande Jayne perfumes, and they tend to be on the lighter side but I am fan!
Steven’s description sounded so beautiful with the pink peppery nature mixing with a more white floral and resinous vase that doesn’t actually lean smoky. The smoothness of the overall composition is what gets me excited most because it sounds heavy amber-y, but altogether it sounds well rounded. I bet it’s amazing! From Portland, USA.

  • The written portion introduced me to Deodar oil. The video told me the perfume performs very well with nice longevity. US

I trust Steven implicitly. Love his reviews. Linda’s introduction made me BEYOND interested in this particular fragrance and the brand itself. I have followed this brand but don’t own any scents, yet. All of the notes mentioned are in my favorites.

  • Brandon Rodriguez says:

Never smelled an ormande Jayne. Smooth creamy cashmeran something that just fits perfectly to me for fall/winter. Would be a fantastic scent for daily wear.

  • theSCENTguy says:

Steven described the fragrance as smooth, velvety, creamy, cashmere-like and was not able to compare it to any other fragrance on the market? That in combination just sounds so interesting to me. Would be thrilled to be able to try this!

  • This introduction from Linda Pilkington is absolutely captivating! The story behind Ormonde Jayne Kashmir and the search for that perfect oil really brings out the brand’s dedication to quality and creativity. I love how Linda highlights the connection to the region’s rare ingredients and her vision of blue poppy, imagining how it might smell if it could be extracted as an oil is so fascinating. The idea of Deodar oil as the spark that started it all makes me even more curious to experience the layers of Kashmir, especially with those rich heart notes of jasmine, iris, and the unique blue poppy accord. I think this perfume is bound to transport you to a whole other world. Following on Instagram as @lens_and_scents! My favorite Ormonde Jayne fragrance is definitely Evernia.

Ormonde Jayne is an iconic fragrance house that has been in existence forever and I can’t believe I haven’t out my nose on any of their references. Loved reading about how Linda waits for that special ingredient to be included on each of their fragrances and this one has the Deodar oil and the fantasy blue poppy note. This is now prompting me to try the house even quicker. I like Steven went into every detail with each note and despite it having some pretty heavy notes, it’s not as dark as you think. The vanilla is not as sweet and the incense not as strong, making it a more of an approachable and second skin scent. Cashmeran is typically a note that is smooth creamy and I’m glad we’re getting a bit of that here. This is a delightful one indeed. I follow cafleurebonofficial on IG and my username is Ramses.d.perez. I’m located in the USA.

  • I love reading about Linda Pilkington’s vision of the perfume, and that she waited for the deodar oil to arrive to progress with the fragrance. And I love using poppy seeds in my cooking so I can understand her passion to use them in the fragrance. Thank you Linda! I can’t wait to try this glorious perfume. And thank you Steven for your great review. I appreciate your explanation about how these elements – which could be very intense and strong – are softened and come together serenely. Most of all, thank you for the opportunity to participate in this giveaway! Reno, Nevada

  • This definitely sounds like a perfume that should be in any collection. Ormonde Jayne is always a guarantee of quality and great performance, my favorite fragrances are Champaca and Ta’if.
    From California, USA.

  • I love how she knew exactly what she wanted and she waited patiently for that perfect ingredient. I also like the fact that all the ingredients pay homage to beautiful Kashmir. When a perfumer is both creative and respectful, it makes my heart sing.

Never been to Kathmandu, not sure I ever will but if I get to smell Kashmir at least I might have some Idea of what I would smell in the morning. My current favorite Ormonde Jayne is not unique, as it is one of the more popular fragrances, Montabaco Intensivo.

My favorite perfume I’ve had the fortune of sampling is the Ormonde Jayne Vanille des Afriques Intensivo! I had the great fortune of buying a mystery box with this in it and I cannot wait to own a full bottle when it comes back in stock! I looked through the other perfumes and Kashmir would be the next one I would love to try! I love perfumes with incense and vanilla and I’m curious about the “fantasy accord” of blue poppy. Watching Steven’s review of Kashmir only solidifies my interest in the Ormonde Jayne perfumes.

  • Thank you Linda Pilkington for the synopsis on the creative process for Kashmir and glad you finally got the oil that set the ball rolling. I also enjoyed Steve’s video review as always and it sounds like Kashmir is a complex subtle fragrance – just the kind I’m leaning towards nowadays. I’m subscribed to Redolessence and follow @cafleurebonofficial on instagram with username @sngashig. My favorite Ormonde Jayne Perfume is currently Ormond Man from the Signature Collection. • Eris.can.swatch.kaos says:

I love how Linda describes having to wait for the right ingredients before tackling this fragrance. I’m sure it was well worth the wait. I can’t wait to sniff for myself what Deodor oil is all about. Steven’s review really has my interest piqued, as always, another fantastic review. I do not yet have a favorite fragrance from Ormonde Jayne, I am still a noob when it comes to niche and indie houses. I follow on ig with Eris.can.swatch.kaos and am a Redolessence subscriber. I live in Oregon.

  • Wow I have never seen blue poppy seeds as a note. I love that Linda mentioned the fact that she actually uses that ingredient in her kitchen, which is an interesting take on a scent. Cant wait to try it!

  • I didn’t know that blue poppy seeds could be used in cooking. I liked that Linda waited for the perfect oil and collaborated with Geza Schoen on Kashmir. Steven mentioned it’s smooth and spicy, which sounds perfect for fall. My fave from Ormonde Jayne is Ta’if. Mich USA Thanks for a fabulous draw. Insta @mary_luvs_flowers

  • The first Ormonde Jayne fragrance I’d ever tried was Ormonde Man, and I’ve been hooked since. The hemlock note in that let me know that this was a brand that would push boundaries and use the most unique accords to paint the olfactive pictures they dream up, and Kashmir sounds like another beautiful creation from Linda and Geza. The note breakdown is so luxurious and warm, I cannot wait to smell this! As always, I loved Steven’s review and it only added to my excitement. My favorite Ormonde Jayne fragrance overall is Montabaco Verano. Hello from Brooklyn, NY! 🙂

  • I also haven’t heard of Deodar oil before and I didn’t know blue poppies existed, much less could be eaten, though I have had black poppy seeds of course. Blue poppy as a fantasy floral note definitely sounds Arabian Nights to me. This just sounds awesome. Levant is my favorite Ormonde Jayne so far!

  • I really enjoyed Linda sharing the back story of the development of Kashmir. And Steven’s review made me confident that I would love the spicy creamy opening.

  • I’ve just smell just the tobacco Fragrance from this house and I presuming this is great too

  • I have loved every OJ fragrance I have gotten. I trust them completely. And Steven’s description of creamy yet peppery sounds amazing. I’m curious about the deodar. Thank you for the giveaway.

  • I was struck with admiration to Linda Pilkington’s choice to wait for the deodar oil (thanks Michelyn for telling us what it is!) to arrive, in order to kickstart the creative process. In a world of chain production, where things are launched based on necessity, and sometimes even with no necessity, this house proves that their work ethics are way beyond that, and a fragrance will not see the light until the premises are all there, which I find to be a unique and valuable work ethic.
Steven again gave us such a detailed and exhaustive description of the fragrance. What I liked most is that he said it’s “frankincensey without being smokey, vanillic without being saccharine and resinous without being sticky”, recreating the textile effect of cashmere in olfactive terms, while still managing to deliver a good performance in terms of longevity and projection.

A beautiful description by Linda Pilmington to find Deodar and the fantasy accord of Blue poppy just adds to mysterious and intriguing nature of this fragrance. I was completely completely in love with all the notes and Steven described the longevity that it wasn’t very sweet or very incensy nor very resinous just showcases the smoothness of the fragrance. My favorite front this house is Ormonde Man. My Instagram ID is amnaaziz895@gmail.com. Thanks a million from the UK

Kashmir takes me back to Kathmandu in the morning – Linda Pilkington, Founder, Perfumer and Owner of Ormonde Jayne (exclusively for CaFleureBon). A beautiful description by Linda Pilkington highlighting intracies involved in perfume making. I was really intrigued by Deodar oil and fantasy accord of Blue poppy. I was completely in love with the notes especially spices, Incense, vanilla and resins. The fact that Steven described this as long lasting just takes this a cut above. This is a house that is very close to my heart especially Ormonde man being my first niche fragrance. Thanks a lot from the UK

  • Own three Ormonde Jayne perfumes full bottles. Levant, Ambre Royal and Ta’if. High quality and compliment getters all. I really appreciate Linda Pilkington’s dedication to sourcing the best ingredients and unusual ones like deodor oil.
    I live in the US

  • I love that in this review her vision takes place in a kitchen and is inspired by cooking. Some of the best work are done when a fragrance invokes a memory.

  • David Furman says:

I dont have any prior experiences from any of this house’s offerings. Heard mostly great things about a number of scents in their range. First thing they do differently is offer 88ml instead of the standard 50 or 75ml. This is always welcomed. Some say their frags have spotty longevity but I am confident in the exact opposite. I imagine the scents having many layers and facets that play out through the life of the scent. Hope this has the legs to not only make a great wear but really stick with you against the elements. The quality and uniqueness is definately what sets them apart from the competition. The spicyness here speaks to me and this would be perfect for the upcoming seasons. From Jacksonville, NC.

  • Interesting to read/hear about blue poppies. I did not even know they exist. I think you learn something new everyday. Kashmir sounds really interesting from your review and I hope I will have the chance to test it. Thanks. EU

  • I’ve not heard of deodar oil before but found out it’s related to cedar wood and native to India, Kashmir and Nepal. Linda’s introduction of the blue poppy fantasy accord is an interesting addition to the warm spices and indolic florals. Steven makes a great point about the softness of the composition despite the heavy ingredients. Favorite OJ is Woman. MD, USA.

  • Sorohan Adriana says:

Unique natural ingredients with the native flowers, herbs and spice trees that grow wild along a changing terrain take center stage in this showcase of vibrant fragrances. I love floral perfumes! I am from EU

  • Pilkington’s description of the blue poppy seed fantasy accord sounds terrific—”savoury and sweet” and the way they might smell if you extracted the oil. Great idea for a distinguishing element in a fragrance with a sense of place. Thank you for describing Deodor wood in more detail; I wasn’t familiar.

Steven highlighted the smoothness of Ormonde Jayne Kashmir, “from top to bottom,” describing it as velvety. It also sounds like the white floral ingredients are present here, without Kashmir reading as a floral fragrance. Interesting combination of elements.

I’m in the USA. I follow @cafleurebonoffical as @mmerline on Instagram. I haven’t tried any Ormonde Jayne perfumes yet.

  • @miamiso

Loved how we’re shown the conception of a perfume. How the spark of an ingredient creates magical scent art. My fave from Ormonde Jayne is Muscat. Thank you for the giveaway.
