Best Transitional Fragrances for Autumn 2024 + 3 You Should Be Wearing Giveaway

Best transitional Fragrances for Autumn 2024

September 4, 2024 New York) photo by Michelyn©

Here in the Northeast, September is a fickle month and temperatures can soar or plummet. The long slow march from summer into fall is upon us along with the changing leaves and cooler weather. Video Contributor Steven Gavrielatos and I recommend our three best transitional fragrances for Autumn.

Best Transitional Fragrances from Summer to Autumn

Jovoy Paris Aqua Memorabilis, Ineke Field Notes From Paris (middle) and Parfums de Marly Oajan By Steven

One of the most natural smelling citruses that Steven has ever encountered Jovoy Paris Aqua Memorabilis is one of the best examples of transitional fragrances for Autumn because it can be worn when the weather is very hot , but also  when it begins to cool down. Jovoy Paris Aqua Memorabilis is being for summer only. “It’s a citrusy, very woody and resolutely modern, powerful perfume, composed to wrap its wearer in an unforgettable fragrance trail. At first comes a wave of clementine poised between fruit and zest, a lively bouquet tinged with bittersweet green notes, with grapefruit, pink peppercorn and bitter orange sharing the lead. Pepper and violet delicately veil a decidedly fruity top note. A powerful wave of cedarwood a delicate wisp of vetiver, rounded out by creamy sandalwood and intense musk, rests on an “indelible” amber wood base. – Steven and Francois Henin owner of Jovoy (joe -voy) Paris

Notes: Clementine, Grapefruit Bitter Orange, Pink Peppercorn, Violet, Pepper, Clementine Juice, Cedar, Vetiver, Sandalwood, Muscs, Amber Woods

Ineke Rühland, of the San Francisco-based artisan house INeKE created Fields Notes from Paris while reminiscing about her days in Paris training as a perfumer, reflected upon the words of T.S. Eliot: “Life is measured in coffee spoons.” With one spritz you are transported to a small Parisian café on a clear autumn day, when the weather has just become a little chilly and the scent of Gitanes cigarettes clings to your leather jacket. You watch as leaves dance and swirl on honeyed orange blossom breezes. One of our best transitional fragrances in part because of Ms. Ruhland’s sophisticated use of tobacco- the flower, and the leaf. – Michelyn

Ineke Ruhland is classically trained, and taught marketing at ISPICA to Perfumer Yann Vasnier.

Notes: Coriander Seed, Orange Flower, Bergamot, Tobacco Flower and Leaf, Patchouli, Cedar, Tonka Bean, LeatherBeeswaxVanilla

Parfums de Marly Oajan (Oh ah John) by Perfumer Shyamala Maisondieu is one of the best transitional fragrances for autumn with brilliant tones of cinnamon, honey, and vanilla. Resins, labdanum and benzoin add warmth. Patchouli and musk add depth and longevity that lasts all day on my skin and into the  long cold night. Oajan is the olfactive equivalent of amber-hued sunsets and wraps around you like a blanket when the temperature starts to drop. –Michelyn

Parfums de Marly Oajan Notes: Honey, Cinnamon, Osmanthus, Amber, Labdanum, Benzoin, Vanilla, Tonka Bean, Patchouli, Davana

Steven Gavriolatos’s video review

Disclosure:  Steven received Aqua Memorabilis for a previous review, all others from his collection. Michelyn received a sample of Oajan and has a nearly empty bottle of Field Notes from 2009.

  • A great selection of transitional fragrances. I have not tried any of them, but Oajan has long been on my wishlist. I am looking forward to also pulling out my heavier fragrances as the weather begins to cool down, and the notes on these really sing to me.

I follow your Instagram, @phuongmttran. I am in the USA.

  • Ramses Perez says:

A great selection of transitional fragrances indeed. I haven’t had the chance to smell Aqua Memorabilis as it is brand spanking new but from the previous review Steven did of it it’s a sort of citrus fragrance with a strong backdrop of sandalwood and ambers to help prolong the life of the fragrance. Ineke Field Notes is a house I’m not familiar but the contrast of orange/bergamot with vanilla and tonka on the background announce the transition of summer to fall. Then comes Oajan which is truly a magnificent and standout Marly fragrance. Oajan like Steven mentioned is a magical fragrance that he keeps coming back to and I’ve experienced it before, it’s just stunning! I follow CaFleureBonOfficial on IG and my username is Ramses.d.perez. I’m located in the USA.

  • I love seeing fragrance videos and reviews welcoming in the coming fall months and bringing that energy and excitement to the forefront. I can’t wait to pull out my cooler weather frags and to possibly get my hands on some of the ones I have not tried yet that are featured in the reviews.

  • for sure a great selection, i tried oojan in new york and i think is one of the most undrated fragrances, i think both reviews capture the essence of the perfume really well but would higly recommend everyone that likes sweet scents to try it because its so well done that sweet honey and canela note is so well done, round and pure

  • LATONYA GIPSON-BOWMAN says:

Just the thought of cinnamon, honey and Tonka bean… definitely a great transitional fragrance. Would love to add this to my collection..I know it’s catered to Men, but I would definitely wear it on Cold Fall Day.
    Thank you for the opportunity.
I live in Orlando Florida, USA

  • Great selection of transitional fragrance. I’ve just been looking for these types of fragrances to add to my collection this fall.

  • Always enjoy Steven’s reviews and michelyn was very informative I really want to try the jovoy fragrance I have tried different ones from this company and have liked most of them field no bets is one I have tried and it was a fragrance I did not care for and you can’t go wrong with parfums de Marley

  • Steven left a great impression on these variety of fragrances for the transition to autumn and an even greater insight left by Michelyn in means of pulling the readers’ attention on what to expect from these fragrances making me look forward to being a potential winner in this giveaway.

  • Mark Mccolligan says:

I like how Steven gives his opinion and breaks down the notes and performance of a fragrance in the video, then Michelyn gets more in depth on the perfumer and inspiration behind the fragrances. Well done!!

  • MatthewKeilwitz says:

The transition between hot and cold weather hits a little different in Florida. Our “transition” is quite lengthy. Some might say that our winter is nothing BUT what some would call Autumn a little farther north.

I won a bottle of Field Notes last September, but because it was my birthday weekend when the winner was announced I was unfortunately preoccupied and failed to claim my prize. I’m not going to make that mistake again, as I’ve been yearning for a whiff of Field Notes ever since. You see, I’ve been looking for something subtly reminiscent of coffee and leather with a little sophistication to counter the very direct and wonderfully uncomplicated bottle of Lonestar Memories in my burgeoning collection. I would love something decidedly French without the raw bawdiness of B683, or Ganymede, or Tuscan, etc. And the way that Michelyn describes FNfP with orange blossom intertwined with all the notes that I’m looking for makes it seem so optimally Floridian. The fact the Steven doesn’t even mention leather in his video makes me believe that the note must certainly be subtle. I wan’t it desperately.

  • Rob Weintraub says:

Thank you for all of the great content you have put out. I have really learned a lot! Aqua-memorabilis sounds fantastic based on the notes. I would love to get my nose on that one. Field notes from Paris sounds very interesting. The description of it reminds me a bit of La Café de la Cita by Day Three. I am curious how they would compare to each other. I don’t own any PDM fragrances currently, but I do remember smelling Oajan once and thinking that it was quite nice. I like that you have chosen three fragrances that are not talked about by any of the other online fragrance folks. I like hearing about new interesting scents and perfume houses. I hope that I win! I am in Westchester County, NY and I follow you on IG @robertweintraub

  • Gladys rivera says:

The fabulous fragrances in the comments each took me to a different Summer/Autumn scene, my favorite being the one I picture with Oajan. I was in Upstate New York again; the memory was so clear that it brought happy tears. Thank you, Steven and CaFleureBon

  • Eris.can.swatch.kaos says:

What an informative review from Michelyn and Steven. I can fully grasp what these three fragrances have to offer for autumn. The vibe is there, fruity with warmth, citrus and sunsets, cozy and calming. I am a Redolessence subscriber and Cafleurebon follower. Eris.can.swatch.kaos on ig. I’ve never tried Oajan before but I know I would love it based on this info. I live in Oregon.

  • Wonderful choices that sound wonderful to wear in this transitional season. To me the descriptions of Oajan by Parfums de Marly sound like perfect fall sweetness. Both Steven and Michelyn make this fragrance feel perfect for my fall scent bubble. The quality of Marly is something I truly believe in and I would love for this to be in this “September Baby’s” rotation! Please continue to do the things you do…I will always respect your opinions.

  • I agree on Oajan, as it’s not as heavy as some winter fragrances but still brings a bit of warmth with honey.
I would also suggest carved oud of the transitional period as it’s not intoxicating but it’s warm and classy.

  • Sorohan Adriana says:

Wonderful selecțion of transitional fragrances ! I like Jovoy Paris Aqua Memorabilis, the contrast of orange/bergamot with vanilla and tonka on the background announce the transition of summer to fall. I have not tried any of them, but Oajan but sounds intersting too. I am from EU

  • artvasquez805 says:

I appreciate the written review because the descriptions of each help paint a full picture of what the scent profile is going for so I can compare them to what I have in my collection already helping me decide whether it would be redundant for me or not. For Stevens video, I like that he constantly does a mix of both well known and lesser fragrances. Oajan and PDM in general are on a lot of YouTube lists (for good reason) so there is no real ground breaking reveal here. It’s a beautiful fragrance that I don’t own but one that will always make me wonder if I should have bought it or not. However Jovoy Paris Aqua Memorabilis, and Ineke Field Notes From Paris are both fragrances I never heard of and that in my opinion is what makes a good list: having a combination of tried and true scents along with scents you haven’t heard of that you can be exposed to.

  • Steve Fernandez says:

These 3 sound great but I would pick PDM Oajan for my transitional fragrance. I love cinnamon, honey, vanilla & resins in a fragrance especially for the fall. Steven confirmed how much he liked Oajan and this would be a great addition to my collection. Also this would be my 1st PDM bottle.

  • AromaDulce73 says:

These 3 sound great but I would pick PDM Oajan for my transitional fragrance. I love cinnamon, honey, vanilla & resins in a fragrance especially for the fall. Steven confirmed how much he liked Oajan and this would be a great addition to my collection. Also this would be my 1st PDM bottle.

  • Michelyn’s review of Field Notes from Paris really resonated with me—her storytelling transported me to a crisp autumn day in Paris. I also enjoyed Steven’s detailed breakdown of the fragrance notes in his video, especially for Aqua Memorabilis. It’s great to see both the artistic and practical sides of these fragrances covered. Oajan is one I’ve always wanted to try; Steven’s love for it just made me want to experience it even more.

  • I’ve not heard of Field notes before. It sounds incredible. I’ll definitely have to look into sampling it! The way Michelyn describes Oajan wrapping around you like a blanket is incredible. That sounds so amazing for the upcoming cool weather. Steven always has a way with words that makes me want to try pretty much everything he reviews. All three of these sound incredible. Thank you for the opportunity.

  • What an amazing combination of written and video content! Michelyn’s ability to weave personal anecdotes into her reviews brings the fragrances to life, while Steven’s focus on the technical aspects, like longevity and scent projection, is super helpful. I haven’t tried any of these scents yet, but after these reviews, Oajan has moved to the top of my list!

  • fragrant_attention says:

I love how Michelyn’s writing takes you on a journey, and Steven’s reviews always give you the nitty-gritty details about performance. Their collaboration on these transitional fragrances is perfect! Steven’s video was super insightful, breaking down each note, which made me want to immerse myself in each fragrance.Thank you for the opportunity.

  • scenchanting says:

What a fantastic duo! Michelyn’s storytelling really made me fall in love with the idea of wearing Field Notes from Paris on a cool autumn day. Steven’s video was incredibly useful for
breaking down the technical aspects, like Aqua Memorabilis’s balance of citrus and wood. Loved it all.

  • Michelyn’s description of Field Notes from Paris took me straight to a Parisian café in autumn—her writing is always so evocative. Steven’s explanation of Aqua Memorabilis, especially how it works in both warmer and cooler weather, adds great context. I’m excited to try both fragrances, they seem perfect for this transitional season.

  • LavenderJuliette says:

Loved the diversity in this list! Michelyn’s writing is beautiful and paints a perfect picture of fall transitions. Steven’s video adds an extra layer by breaking down the notes and performance. Both reviews were excellent.

  • This is such a great curation of transitional fragrances! Michelyn’s description of Parfums de Marly Oajan is so enticing—it sounds like the perfect warm and comforting scent as the weather cools. Steven’s passion for Aqua Memorabilis shines through in his video as well. I appreciate how well both reviews complement each other. USA

  • I’ve been looking for a fragrance that can transition seamlessly between summer and fall, and Aqua Memorabilis sounds like it fits the bill. I also love how Steven described Oajan’s lasting power—cinnamon, honey, and tonka are perfect for autumn!” MIchelyn has also beautifully described the fragrances.
    I’m located in the USA.

  • Swetrosysillage says:

The way Steven described Aqua Memorabilis’s citrus opening with a woody dry down really piqued my interest. I love fragrances that can transition well from hot to cool weather, and this sounds perfect. Oajan also seems like a classic autumn fragrance with its cinnamon and honey warmth.

  • Fragrance collector says:

I’m really drawn to Michelyn’s description of Field Notes from Paris. The contrast between the citrus and tobacco notes seems perfect for autumn. And Oajan’s cinnamon and tonka combination? Sounds like the perfect scent to wrap myself in when the temperatures drop! Steven did an excellent job too describing the notes breakdown.

  • ianbradleyandrews says:

Michelyns review of oajan has me excited for autumn! Sounds rich and delightful. I love how thorough Steven is in his review. I’d love to win and live in Indiana.

  • I love how Michelyn and Steven provide different perspectives on the same fragrances. Oajan’s cinnamon, honey, and amber wood sounds perfect for a cozy autumn day, while Aqua Memorabilis seems like it has just the right amount of citrus to still feel fresh in warmer weather.

  • Both Michelyn and Steven have such great synergy in their reviews. What I particularly love about Michelyn review is detailed background on the perfumers which really adds to the allure of the fragrances, while Steven’s video offers a nice breakdown of how each one performs in real life. I love how they chose fragrances that aren’t too dark or heavy—just the right balance for autumn’s tricky weather.

  • What a delightful read and watch! Michelyn’s description of Ineke’s Field Notes from Paris immediately took me to a cafe in Paris. Steven’s video helped me understand the nuances of each fragrance. Both reviews are very thoughtful.
Thanks for the opportunity to win Oajan. Good luck to all.

  • fragtrail909 says:

Aqua Memorabilis’s mix of citrus and amber sounds like the perfect fragrance for those warm autumn days that turn into cooler nights. I love how Oajan has that rich, spicy sweetness—perfect for when the weather really starts to cool down. Well done Steven and Michelyn.

  • For Michelyn’s written review I liked how she goes deeper into the perfumer’s inspirations and origins, while Steven covers the practical aspects like sillage and wearability.
It’s rare to see such comprehensive and engaging content—well done to both!

  • Daniel Acosta says:

Im new to fragrance and appreciate the break down of notes and the images described. Great article!

  • Oajan’s cinnamon, honey, and tonka combination sounds absolutely divine for autumn. I love how Steven and Michelyn complement each other’s reviews—both give such clear pictures of how these fragrances wear.

  • The combination of Michelyn’s lyrical descriptions and Steven’s methodical breakdowns works so well. I now feel like I know exactly what to expect from these fragrances as we transition into autumn!

  • shining stones says:

What a captivating selection of fragrances for autumn! I haven’t tried Aqua Memorabilis yet, but the citrus-to-wood progression Steven described really intrigues me. Oajan, though, is the one I know and love. It wraps me in warmth with its cinnamon and honey notes. Can’t wait to explore Field Notes from Paris as well. Thanks

  • Citrus Paradise says:

I really like how michelyn’s storytelling makes these fragrances feel so personal, while Steven’s breakdown offers the practicality I need when choosing a scent. I’m definitely checking out these fragrances.

  • Odor Aeternitatis says:

I thoroughly enjoyed both Michelyn’s elegant writing and Steven’s enthusiastic video. Aqua Memorabilis sounds like a perfect choice for this tricky time of year, makes me want to experience that autumn breeze myself! and I liked how Steven breaks down its ability to perform in both hot and cool weather.

  • Cinnamon, honey, tonka bean, and that beautiful amber dry downm, Oajan seems like the perfect comfort scent for crisp autumn days.
Just reading the description of these notes from Oajan makes me feel cozy already! I’ve never tried Aqua Memorabilis before, but would love to. Good reviews by both michelyn and steven.

  • Michelyn’s poetic way of describing the perfumes makes me want to grab them immediately! Her description of Oajan as ‘amber-hued sunsets’ is so vivid. Steven’s video adds a personal touch, especially his excitement for Aqua Memorabilis. Awesome guys!

  • Such an amazing breakdown of transitional scents! Michelyn’s perfectly captured the atmosphere of Field Notes from Paris, while Steven’s reviews was also a treat to read.
Oajan’s warm spiciness is definitely going on my fall wishlist.
Thank you, Steven and CaFleureBon team.

  • Wow…these all sound fantastic. I haven’t tried any of these and think I would love them all. Parfumes de Marly I think would likely be my favorite….only confirmed from Michelyn’s and Steven’s descriptions. I’m in the USA.

  • ForTheLoveofFrag says:

I’m in Florida, and our ‘autumn’ is so drawn out. These fragrances sound perfect for that slow transition. Aqua Memorabilis’s citrus base with woody undertones seems like it would handle our mild autumn beautifully!
I’ve heard such great things from Steven about Aqua Memorabilis as well, especially with that fresh clementine note.

  • Steven’s video is so informative, and Michelyn’s poetic
descriptions make these fragrances come to life. Thankyou for the opportunity to win Oajan. I am really intrigued by its warm notes which would be amazing for the autumn.

  • Thebluelotus says:

Just thinking about Oajan’s sweet yet spicy warmth makes me excited for autumn, seems like the perfect fall companion. Michelyn’s review of Field Notes from Paris makes it sound like the quintessential fall fragrance, tobacco flower and leather for the win. Steven also did a great job as always.

  • Michelyn’s review of Oajan makes me want to cozy up with a bottle immediately. The way she describes its warmth is just perfect for fall. Steven’s video review is a great the way he always describes various fragrances.

  • Firstly, as always Michelyn’s in-depth review provides rich detail about the perfumes’ inspirations, while Steven’s video gives a more everyday perspective on how fragrance will evolve. A perfect balanced out review. Thanks for the giveaway opportunity.

  • Michelyn’s review of Field Notes from Paris really speaks to me. I love the idea of a fragrance that blends orange blossom and tobacco, making it both fresh and warm at the same time. Aqua Memorabilis’s citrusy start and woody finish sound like a perfect balance for this time of year.

  • Great selection! I always find choosing fragrances for this transitional period to be tough. These would excellent additions to the collection.

  • Michelyn’s and steven’s descriptions are always so vivid. Field Notes from Paris sounds like a refined scent that would be perfect for a chilly autumn day. Oajan’s sweet yet spicy tones have been on my wishlist for a while too. Definitely adding to my collection and hoping to win.

  • Great work by both Michelyn and Steven! I love the idea of wearing something like Field Notes from Paris on a cool autumn day—it sounds so chic. The contrast between tobacco flower and orange blossom sounds beautiful for fall.

  • Oajan has been a favorite of mine for years, and I can’t wait to add Aqua Memorabilis to my collection. The idea of citrus transitioning into sandalwood and amber is so intriguing. Such a great lineup of fragrances, both of you Steven and michelyn.
    I’m located in the USA.

  • Oajan has been a staple in my fall rotation for years, but now I’m intrigued by Aqua Memorabilis. Steven’s review makes it sound like a fresh yet warm scent. I will try this out and steven has rightly said Oajan is definitely magical, I myself keep coming back to it every fall season.

  • Michelyn’s poetic description of Field Notes from Paris paints such a vivid picture of autumn. I love how Steven complements her review with practical details like sillage and longevity in his video. Very much intriguing.

  • ThatMulattoDude says:

Autumn is my favorite season of the year. Football, more family togetherness, cool but not cold temps, and the ability to wear more sophisticated fragrances in addition to Spring and Summer freshies. Really enjoyed the review of these 3 offerings. Will definitely have to get my nose on the Jovoy and Ineke fragrances but Oajan has been on my wish lost forever. Many have said it has an apple pie vibe and I really dig that. Here’s to hoping I win this giveaway; the opportunity is much appreciated. Many blessings from Virginia, USA!

  • Field Notes as described by both Michelyn and Steven sounds like a perfect transitional scent for Fall here in the Midwest. Tobacco noted holding things down for cooler mornings and evenings with bergamot, orange flower and coriander seed providing some “lift” for the warmer daytime temps. Oajan has been on my “must try” list for a bit, especially for late Fall with the honey and cinnamon! Following on Instagram as Fresh_and_Delicious. Cheers from Ohio! 🙂

  • David Furman says:

All three have different facets that make them all fall standouts. The Oajan is allegedly a mans man fragrance and I know the blend is top notch. This is an amazing opportunity to own it for myself. I love PDM Pegasus and I know they have plenty of offerings that would shock me. It sounds so dark, sweet, and just lovely overall. From Jacksonville, NC.

  • The three are definitely very good for the fall season as is not too hot nor too cold, thanks for a fantastic review

  • Great selection for fall transition. When September arrives but the days are still warm, I’m drawn towards honey based fragrances. Honey reminds me of the harvest and late summer is when fruits are at their peak. PdM Oajan has the honey note with warm spices and the peach-plum davana note. Steven seems to reach for Oajan a lot too. MD, USA.

    I follow on IG @blinkydog1999

  • Loved the bid on Aqua memorabilis – I have yet to put my nose on this new Jovoy offering but every time I read or hear about it, my curiosity gets piqued! Great video by Stephen as usual and thank you CaFleureBon for this opportunity

  • kusudamakitten98 says:

I enjoyed how this list keeps in mind the fluctuating weather in early fall — especially with Steven mentioning that Aqua Memorabilis is a hot-weather fragrance because of the citrus but has the base of a cold-weather fragrance. I also liked Michelyn’s imagery of a Parisian cafe on a cold autumn day. I am excited to try Parfum de Marly’s Oajan; it sounds like it smells like a delicious apple pie!

    From NJ, USA

  • I really enjoyed both Michelyn’s written review and Steven’s video on the best transitional fragrances for autumn! Michelyn’s descriptions were so vivid—especially how she captured the essence of Ineke’s Field Notes from Paris. I could almost feel that crisp Parisian air and smell the blend of tobacco flower and leather. It feels like the perfect scent for those cozy fall days when the weather is just starting to cool.

Steven’s review of *Paris Aqua Memorabilis was also super helpful. The way he described the balance between citrus and wood makes it sound like an amazing scent for those warmer autumn days that still have a touch of summer heat. I love how both of these reviews focused on scents that can carry you through the fluctuating temperatures of early fall. Now I’m super curious to try Parfums de Marly Oajan, especially with those warm notes of cinnamon, honey, and vanilla—sounds perfect for when the temperatures drop!

    I am from the US

  • Jonathan Imbert says:

Thank for you sharing this curated fragrance list. The notes seem amazing. I am definitely intrigued and if I don’t win, I will purchase 5ml decant of each. That’s how intrigued I am. Thanks again for the recommendations I greatly appreciate your efforts for creating this list.

  • From the written portion I finally learned how to pronounce Oajan (Oh ah John”, so that was nice. From the video I was drawn to the Oajan by the reviewers’s passion for it. US

  • Oh what a thoughtful selection! Autumn is my favorite time of year. Sadly it’s still 104/40 degrees here!! But I love an ambery Fall scent anytime of year. I know… faux pas. I can’t help it! I have some favorites from each of these houses but I have not tried these particular ones.

  • Oops I accidentally hit send. Part 2 is I do follow you on IG, my name there is Samba.Simone located in US
    Thank you for the giveaway!

  • I love that quote about the coffee spoons as I am sipping my coffee this morning reading Cafleurebon. Weather is fickle here in the NW as well. Never know if summer will end in Sept. or Oct. (I’m hoping for October). I’m clinging to summer like Steven. That new Jovoy fragrance has my attention with that bitter orange note. That would be my pick after watching the video. All 3 look like great choices for fall. Thanks for the chance. USA. Following on Instagram as roadrunner_girl100.

  • Jovoy is one of my favorite houses but I haven’t tried Aqua Memorabilis, sounds like one I need to check out. I received a sample of Oajan during the summer and knew I had to have it. Steven always describes fragrances that you can understand without smelling them.

  • Here in the Northeast, September is a fickle month and temperatures can soar or plummet. The long slow march from summer into fall is upon us along with the changing leaves and cooler weather. Video Contributor Steven Gavrielatos and I recommend our three best transitional fragrances for Autumn . – Michelyn

After the horrible , almost ice cube last two Winter seasons we had , the sunny weather is definitely not something I want to let go so easily. Warmer Fall would be great.
I’d like to thank Michelyn and Steven for the lovely Fall choices, and lively reviews.Speaking of the 3 co-curated Indie Fragrances for the Fall
If you’re a fragrance enthusiast you know Jovoy , it’s that simple. Visiting the boutique if you’re in Paris is an absolute must. Steven and Michelyn drew a cozy picture in my mind, Aqua Memorabilis is high end tranquil potion I’d love to win , woody fresh vacation.
Ineke Field Notes from Paris . I just want to know how Michelyn short Parisian love affair smells .It was some years ago, but I still remember the story about Field Notes from Paris, coffee shop, and a persistent French guy 🙂
Parfums de Marly Oajan is indeed brilliant cinnamon and honey fragrance with lots of depth, and resins in the drydown. In terms of pronunciation most people are pronouncing it “OH’-AH’-JAN”, me too and I’m not sure what’s the “proper” way
I’d like to win Oajan, the olfactive equivalent of amber-hued sunsets

  • FragranceIsMe says:

Both Steven and Michelyn always grab my attention with their in-depth olfactive descriptions. This article and video are no different. I like the concept of a transitional scent and each of the discussed/described fragrances clearly provide a nice transition from Summer to Autumn. I find each fragrance to offer characteristics and notes that are appealing to me. Looking forward to getting my nose on each of these 🙂 . However, if I could only choose one, Oajan narrowly wins out over Field Notes From Paris and Aqua Memorabilis.

  • We had the first dramatic swing from sweltering heat to chilly morning today, so this list of suggestions for autumn is timely. Of the three, I’ve only tried Field Notes From Paris; I love it for the interaction between the orange blossom and tobacco leaf that Michelyn highlighted. Steven pointed my nose towards the honey note, which hasn’t jumped out for me, and I’ll be paying attention to next wear. Jovoy Paris Aqua Memorabilis sounds fantastic, and is the selection here I’d most like to wear right now, wanting a zesty natural citrus with some progression and complexity. Steven called it “jubilant”, plus called out the grounding fixatives that make it last. Finally, Parfums de Marly Oajan leans towards the cold-end of the autumn weather spectrum with its resinous spice and amber. Like Michelyn said, a “blanket” fragrance is great for this time of year. Great list.

I’m in the USA. I follow @cafleurebonoffical. Thanks!

  • What a wonderful trio! As Michelyn stated, Field Notes from Paris is an amazing scent that uses various forms of tobacco. It has a certain sparkle to it that leaves you feeling gilded. As Steven said, it has this wonderful raw honey touch in it that really gives it a nice depth. My decant is dwindling so I would be elated to have a bottle. Best of luck to all. I follow on Instagram (@thearronq). I live in NC, USA.

  • Michelyn, your description of Oajan is perfect.

Steven, I loved your description of Field Notes from Paris, I find a realistic honey/beeswax note intriguing.

Thank you for holding this drawing! I live in Texas, USA.

  • Great picks for the season and beautifully introduced by Michelyn. Mostly familiar fragrance houses and they all sound incredibly comforting to wear for when the weather (hopefully) cools down for Autumn. Steven’s explanation’s was really helpful and really appreciate the longevity of each of these picks, especially with the transitional theme. Cant wait for the weather to change to explore different daily wear options.

  • Great video Steve, love the season transition type of reviews, keep up the great work!
Oajon is one that I’ve seen many people review it and love it.
I would love to personally try it myself

  • What do we have here? According to Michelyn and Steven the Best Transitional Weather for Autumn fragrances Half of me wants the upcoming weeks to bring some cooler temperatures, but the other part wants Summer weather to continue for a lot longer.

☆ Jovoy Paris Aqua Memorabilis I think is kind of different compared to most Jovoy Paris fragrances, at least those I’ve smelled, easier to wear and fresh.Steven’s take on the fragrance , with Michelyn and Francois Henin help made me think of being in Greece with my girlfriend , making and later on eating Iced Clementines Cake and drinking freshly squeezed orange juice while sitting on the beach.

☆ Ineke Rühland Field Notes from Paris.
Parisian coffee, cigarettes and leather adventure is what I’m thinking right now.
☆ Parfums de Marly Oajan . It’s a toss up for me between Herod and Oajan, for my favorite Parfums de Marly fragrances. Oajan smell like I’m having Cinnamon Rolls , and osmanthus tea infront of me.
I’ll be happy to win Oajan

  • The Autumn is almost here , and like Michelyn said temperatures can either soar or plummet , and the leaves are changing..
The zesty delicious clementines , black pepper and vetiver properties of Aqua Memorabilis I find suitable for all occasions and all seasons. What I find appealing the modern versatility captured by Vanina Mirraciole perfumer I really like , the soft clean type of vetiver with mouthwatering citruses , and the comforting feeling in Aqua Memorabilis.
Ineke Ruhland Field Notes in Paris is Parisian candles, leather jackets and cigarettes is a bottle
Oajan from Parfums de Marly is such a great fragrance, so full , balsamic and sweet , and heavy on the cinnamon .

  • The combination of Michelyn and Steven is always great. The reviews are enjoyable to watch or read. I’ll say it again, my favorite time of year is autumn. All 3 of the transitional fragrances reviewed sound amazing. PDM has been my favorite house since I began my fragrance journey. Would love to own a bottle of Oajan!

  • Michael Prince says:

I loved Michelyn’s written review and Steven’s video review for the best transitional fragrances for Autumn. I can relate to this post because living in Ohio I get similar summer to fall transitions like the northeast. I haven’t tried any of these 3 fragrances. Jovoy Paris Aqua Memorabilis, sounds like true summer to fall transitional fragrance due to it’s versatility with that realistic clementine/bitter orange and vetiver drydown. INeKE Field Notes From Paris sounds really interesting with its tobacco, orange flower, coriander, and beeswax blend that sounds truly divine. Parfums De Marly Oajan has been on my wishlist for a long time with its warm, spicy, and cozy nature showcasing cinnamon, honey, Vanilla, Benzoin, and Tonka Bean. I am following @cafleurebonoffical on Instagram. My IG handle is @michaelprincefragrances I am from the USA.

  • I wasn’t able to go on vacation this Summer, and it’s time for traditional Fall already…
Psychedelique and Ambre Premier are the best Jovoy fragrances I’ve smelled , both are in my possession. The new Aqua Memorabilis i think is classy, and versatile slightly sweet and smoky woody aromatic fragrance. The good thing is that the citruses are easy to detect from the opening until the drydown
Ineke Rühland Field Notes from Paris is small Parisian coffee shop, with candles, leather jackets and café au lait.
When I think Parfums de Marly , I always think Pegasus first, and the cinnamon and honey Oajan second. The two smell fantastic , last over 10 hours on skin , and projects beyond strong. I agree with Michelyn about the olfactive equivalent of amber-hued sunsets

  • Here in the Northeast, September is a fickle month and temperatures can soar or plummet. The long slow march from summer into fall is upon us along with the changing leaves and cooler weather.
    – Michelyn Camen
Tell me about it , temperatures are totally unpredictable.
I’m keen on versatile Summer and early Fall tenacious sharp citruses , rich vetiver and spices , Jovoy Aqua Memorabilis sounds great
The tone of Ineke Rühland Field Notes from Paris is so cozy and tranquil , i have a feeling I’m in a Parisian coffee shop right now. I don’t smoke, and I don’t know how Gitanes cigarettes smell but sophisticated tobacco, both the flower and the leaf I’m willing to try.
I know Parfums de Marly Herod, Layton and Layton Exclusif but not Oajan . I’m keen on brilliant tones of cinnamon, honey and vanilla, with resins adding warmth to the composition. Thank to both reviews I know Oajan is a fragrance with a lot of depth, and cozy transitional weather characteristics.

Thanks for the draw, from the USA

  • I love Oajan! I have only ever owned a decant but I just love how that cinnamon note invokes the nostalgia of the holidays (for me personally). It is such a gorgeous scent on both men and women. While I liked the review of the other fragrances, Oajan is my favorite.
    I live in the US.

  • Hopefully we’ll have a more soaring than plummeting temperatures in September, at least I hope that.
I’m familiar with all Jovoy fragrances ,excluding Aqua Memorabilis and because of all the Cafleurebon praises my expectations for are so high. A wave of zest and fruit of clementines, pepper and vetiver are complimenting the composition very well, classy fragrance by Vanina Muracciole.
In Ineke Rühland Field Notes from Paris , composed by Ineke Ruhland I can see the small Parisian café comparison Michelyn made ,the leather jackets, and the candles. I’m a strict teetotaller, and I don’t smoke still I know Gitanes cigarettes. In terms of cigarettes I’m not sure, because the tobacco in Field Notes from Paris is more of of leafy, and not burning ashy tobacco , it’s quite powdery too.
It’s not fragrance related, but the correct T.S. Eliot quote is :
“I have measured out my life with coffee spoons” , it’s from the poem The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock
Shyamala Masiondieu composed a masterpiece imo with Parfums de Marly Oajan . Deep, full and resinous sweetness with honey, cinnamon and at least to me lots of more fruity osmanthus.
    All profiles I already follow , @waltherp99bg
    Thanks a lot

  • Hello Fall …kind of, or at least transitional weather fragrances
When delightful clementines and woods meets sophistication and Francois Henin creativity , then Aqua Memorabilis comes to play . There’s the traditional , i love the expression Oli Marlow used in the Jovoy Mayfair article “a very Jovoy experience” .
I could be wrong, but Gitanes cigarettes are non-filtered , correct? In Ineke Rühland Field Notes from Paris i like the presence of two types of tobacco, both the flower and the leaf , the leather and the adventurous spirit.
First time I’ve smelled Oajan I was so WoW at the the smell, how complex it was, and how it develops. There’s nothing overbearing, but the blend is really smooth. I’d love to spay myself and my scarfs with the olfactive equivalent of amber-hued sunsets 😉
Cafleurebon i follow on both Instagram and Facebook
    Thank you for the opportunity

  • It is that lovely time of year again. Fall is not only my favorite season but also my favorite time to wear fragrances. You get the best of the best with good deep scents that make you feel all ozy and things but can still be refreshing in some aspects. Like when it comes to the citrus that both Steven and Michelyn speak about with Jovoy Paris Aqua Memorabilis. I know that sandalwood mixed in with gives a good strong staying power to fight with the cooler weather that sometimes fresher scents fade in. Now I do have some experience with Oajan. I bought a 10ml and quickly wore it out lol. Definitely one of those warm cozy scents that just scream fall with that patchouli and honey in there. I have waited awhile to get my hands on a full bottle for sure. Steven was right. Year after he mentions it on several fall lists he makes and there is a reason why.
