One of the busiest of the 350 plus booths at Esxence 2024 was Kajal’s. I was fortunate to have some time to speak with founder Moe Khalaf about ÄICAN, pronounced “I can,” which includes positive affirmation cards in the box as well as samples of Lamar and Masa in a wood stand.

ÄICAN by Kajal

Kajal ÄICAN affirmation cards with the sample box courtesy of the brand

Michelyn: Please tell our readers and viewers about why you included affirmation cards with the perfume?

Moe Khalaf: We have always believed in positivity, treating everyone with respect and modesty as our core values.  In the creation of Kajal ÄICAN this quickly became a topic that we wanted to include and share with everyone, especially when the name very much reminded of us of “I Can” … We all have the choice to embrace a new beginning and to shine once again, revealing the magnificence that has always resided within us. ÄICAN was crafted from a passionate belief in the transformative power of optimism. It embodies an ardent aspiration to capture the revitalizing vibrancy of positive energy into a fragrance.“

Michelyn: Who are the perfumers?

Moe Khalaf: Kajal ÄICAN is a collaboration between three experts in the fragrance oil industry:

Huseyin Erdogmus, a Chemical Engineer from Turkey, founded EPS Fragrances and became a renowned Perfumer. With his expertise in natural oils and patented techniques, he became a leader not only among Turkish producers but also at the global forefront of the fragrance oil industry.

Ozge Erdogmus Altinel, daughter of Huseyin, was immersed in fragrance from childhood, pursued chemistry, and trained under master perfumers. She became a Jr. Perfumer at EPS.

Gokhan Simsek, inspired by his Aegean roots, honed his chemistry skills and joined EPS as a trainee. He quickly climbed up within the organization to become an acclaimed global fragrance perfumer.

Love, Steven break down of perfume reviews and this with passion , pineapple interesting take and would love to be in a chance of trying this.

  • Vatrina Taylor says:

Hello, I want to win this fragrance sooooooo bad!!!!! I pray I hope I win!!! I know this fragrance is everything and more!!! Fingers crossed!!!

  • The process of naming it as ‘I can’ is very powerful and well thought , and after stevens review his reaction on sniff says i surely needed to try this.

  • Ramses Perez says:

I knew that this fragrance came early this year but was not aware of the meaning behind Aican. A fragrance to help you get through the day? Sign me up! I love the idea of a fragrance having affirmations written on it and to provide that radical optimism we sometimes need. You pick up the box and read and affirmation before spraying it on you to help you get the day started. I like that Steven pointed out that it doesn’t compare to any of the other fragrances containing the same notes, it is its own unique flavor. An affirmation I say to myself to get the day started is “You got this.” Cheers from the USA.

  • Steven review ok and thorough. I think that Moe’ Khalaf introduction was amazing on how created Äican to bring joy and optimism The bottle and this cards are so incredible. My affirmation is I can get through my struggles

  • Juicy passion fruit with praline that Steven says is so good is enough for me! Sounds like a beautiful summer scent that might be able to step into spring and fall. In maryland.

  • petergigov says:

It’s interesting how no matter what the perfumer is, Kajal never disappoint its fans.
In the previous Kevin Mathys and Kajal IV giveaway he said how his work is often is inspired by the richness of everyday life , and how he likes creating emotional connections with the user, just like musicians or painters. With ÄICAN Huseyin Erdogmus , Gokhan Simsek and and the young Ozge Erdogmus Altinel the approach again is based on positive energy and optimism , love it .
Like Steven said all the pieces are there in ÄICAN, the patchouli, the juicy fruits, the praline and the whole positive feel the 3 perfumers and Moe Khalaf were looking for. Big fanof Dahab and I’m glad ÄICAN is a different kind of passion fruit fragrance.
Dahab , Almaz and Masa are my favorites from Kajal , all are in my possession , since compliments are so important to me i’d like to say out of the three Dahab gets me the most positive reactions . I believe ÄICAN will be just as good as Dahab, maybe even a bit better?
    Overly exciting giveaway, USA
    Regards

  • What a Fabulous interview by Michelyn and Wonderful review by Steven! I adore all my Kajal bottles and can’t wait to try Äican! I love the positivity and creativity of the message! Such a warm and wonderful way to live!

  • PS – my favorite affirmation is probably this one: Every decision I make is supported by my whole and inarguable experience.❤️❤️❤️ Would love to hear others!

  • What I enjoyed about Steven’s video: I enjoyed the fact that Steven described it as “bursting at the seams” and I am very much in the mood to try a new fragrance that packs a punch.

What I enjoyed abut Moe & Michelyn’s introduction: I love the fact that these come with affirmation cards, and that this fragrance doesn’t just seek to promote itself, but promote a positive outlook in the person buying and wearing it.

I can make myself into the person I dream I could be!

I loved hearing how you can wear this dressed up or dressed down from Steven’s video and I have tried this and love how it smells..it’s an amazing fragrance and I love how Moe says that it is about giving new beginnings and the transforming power of optimism. The notes are incredible and a really loved fragrance. I live by the border of Blaine, Washington. Thank you

  • I loved how Steven described the beautiful combination of pineapple and passion fruit. I really enjoyed how this perfume is full of positive affirmations mentioned in the introduction. I live in Trzebnica, Poland, EU. I love the affirmation ‘I trust my journey’.

  • Aneudi Rosado says:

I like how they both described the fragrance especially the emphasis on the passionfruit.

  • From the written opening I found out how to pronounce the fragrance and from the video I got that this Aican is so easy to love. US

Oooohh, this sounds absolutely beautiful! “Marches to the beat of its own drum” I would kill to get my nose on this, I’m sure I don’t have to though. The passion fruit and praline is appealing and appreciated. I live in Oregon.

  • I enjoyed most the description of the fruits – their ripeness and the combination of pineapple and passionfruit. As well as the description of the elevated quality of Aican and the inclusion of praline, which I adore.

  • Brad Woolslayer says:

I enjoyed Steven saying that this is an addictive smell with an emphasis on passion fruit. I liked how affirmation cards are included with the fragrances to go with the “I Can” theme. I live in Maryland USA.

  • Thanks to Steven Gavrielatos and Michelyn Camen reviews i started thinking about all kinds of warm and tropical moments I’d like to experience in the Summer
I’m now curious about ÄICAN and the way it evolves. The contrast between the delicious fruits, pralines and jasmine , day and night, innocence and temptation is to die for.

ÄICAN was crafted from a passionate belief in the transformative power of optimism. It embodies an ardent aspiration to capture the revitalizing vibrancy of positive energy into a fragrance.-Moe Khalaf

Such a nice thing to read, about how Moe Khalaf, Huseyin Erdogmus , Ozge Erdogmus Altinel and Gokhan Simsek decided to focus on mental outlook of optimism when creating the new ÄICAN. I own 2 Kajal Perfumes already, Lamar and Almaz and I can say the happy burst of juicy tropical fruits and cheerfulness is so common for the brand.
I actually called my local Kajal official distributor to ask about Kajal IV, and the told me I’ll be able to smell ÄICAN and Kajal IV next week , can’t wait to try both.

Always replace negative thoughts with positive ones, and then you’ll start having positive results- Me and my positive affirmation 🙂

    Thank you, and fingers crossed

Watching the video made me want to get my nose on the passionfruit. I love the idea of the affirmation cards included with the fragrance. I’m from New Orleans, LA.

  • Anthony Zeytounzian says:

I’m checking in from the state of New Jersey. I love w hyped Steven was right from the start of the video. After his breakdown on the notes, I’m sure this is something I need in my collection as summer is quickly approaching. Going to speak this into existence – I can win this giveaway haha

  • I didn’t think it could get much better than Lamar and when I saw pineapple I thought it was going to be similar. Steven’s excitement made me really know how good this must be. I appreciate the inclusion of Moe’s core values, one being respect.

  • Vincent Ramsey says:

Ive been looking for a beautiful fruit scent. I wish i could go back in time and ask a certain stranger what he was wearing because it was the most amazing fresh fruity scent I’ve ever smelled and i have no idea what it was, sadly.

  • David Yates says:

Very interested in this fragrance from Kajal from watching Steven’s video on how exquisite the passion fruit and pineapple accords are with this fragrance. I also like the positive vibe from reading the introduction above. I have several Kajal fragrances from this house and love them. This will definitely make my to buy list.

  • Veronique Dupuy says:

I would love to get KAJAL AÏCAN … my first Kajal. Steven’s genuine enthusiasm about this exotic fruity fragrance and it’s uniqueness really got my attention!
He also mentioned that the juiciness of the passion fruit combined with the praline makes AÏCAN truly addictive and sets the bar very high.
I love that AÏCAN comes with an affirmation card. According to Moe Khalaf, AÏCAN is meant to radiate positivity and it’s transformative power that celebrate new beginnings.
To me, passion fruit embodies reawakened passion and hope, Patchouli, Ginger, Pineapple uplift and brighten (the way to what I CAN do) while praline and musk have a grounding effect that allows for a “smooth ride”.
Hats off to the 3 Turkish perfumers who created this inspiring fragrance.
I live in the USA, Costa Mesa, California!

  • Lara Von Bon says:

The magic of this is in the dry down. I don’t get how people compare this to Vibrato. I own Vibrato and it’s no way the same. Vibrato is citrus bomb, as Aican has a passion fruit and pineapple blast mixed with Praline and patchouli makes it sweet and not too bright. There’s something there that is also reminiscent of Almaz. My comparison is Vibrato is way similar to Tygar, and Aican leans to the Oriental side of perfumery. Very beautiful dry down!

  • This sounds really nice. I have loved almost everything I have tried from this house. Their DNA has really struck a chord with me as I adore the Middle-Eastern touches in so many of their offerings. The balsamic and resinous undercurrents they have in many of their fragrances really just gets me going. I imagine their ambery scents share a similar quality.

I love that the story behind AICAN as explained in Michelyn’s interview with Moe Khalaf. The idea of capturing the non-tangible is what perfumery is truly about and I love that they wanted to capture optimism in fragrance form. The inclusion of affirmations is brilliant! Fragrance can be so affirming in and of itself, but his just takes it to the next level.

Regarding the scent of AICAN and other Kajal fragrances, I love how they worked with fruits and florals in Kajal III so I’m eager to see how a fruity amber turns out. Steven heralded its addictive nature and spoke highly of its exoticism. I would expect nothing less from the brand.

My favorite affirmation is a poem by the late Shel Silverstein:
Listen to Mustn’ts, child, listen to the Don’ts.
Listen to the Shouldn’ts, the Impossibles, the Won’ts.
Listen to the Never Haves, then listen close to me.
Anything can happen, child, Anything can be.

Best of luck to all! This sounds like a real winner! I live in NC, USA.

Something totally unexpected happened, and I wasn’t able to visit Esxence , good to know Moe Khalaf and Kajal booth was as busy as usual.
Like me Moe Khalaf was always an extrovert, always treating everyone well both in person, and on Instagram.
I know all Kajal Perfumes fragrances, I’m literally sampling ÄICAN right now , it’s on my skin and I’m convinced the fragrance will become a major hit. I have to rate my favorite Kajal Perfume fragrances… it’s hard, but depending on my mood
    1.Lamar/ ÄICAN
    2. Almaz / Dahab
    3. Kajal IV
I’m also familiar with all 3 perfumers who co-created it , Gokhan Simsek, Huseyin and Ozge Erdogmus Altinel. Other than with Kajal Perfumes, they composed a lot of fragrances for Unique’e Luxury and I believe all for Superz .
By the way is it just me, or Moe Khalaf is only working with dedicated, and motivated positive people? Kevin Mathys is also the same type of person , best of luck to him and Moe on the Art and Olfaction Awards, Kajal IV deserves to win an award.
Back to ÄICAN now , since It’s on my skin and I can’t stop smelling it, I agree with Steven who called it amazing.
Comfortable high quality tropical and musky fragrance , natural sweetness , It’s almost like I’m smelling the sliced fruits in front of me. I wonder if there are some hidden notes too , because there are floral undertones too , rose maybe or iris…or maybe both.
As a die-hard extrovert I can’t say i have some special positive affirmation, I just like to keep negative thoughts and people away
All profiles I already follow, @waltherp99bg . I also follow @eaudemoe , Moe Khalaf side project , and designer Omar Ayoub , the absolute genius behind Kajal bottle design
    Thanks a lot

  • I was surprised to learn that Aican debuted earlier than expected. The concept of a fragrance that doubles as a motivational tool had me hooked. I adore the idea of uplifting affirmations infused into the fragrance, providing a much-needed boost of optimism. The packaging is cleverly designed, allowing you to read an inspiring message before applying the scent. This thoughtful touch sets Aican apart from other fragrances with similar notes. From the video, it seems like this unique blend is unparalleled in its category. For myself, I like to kick-start my day with the mantra “I can.” From the United States

  • The base notes are some of my favorites. I love ginger and pineapple. I’ve never smelled the passionfruit, that has me curious now. Beautiful presentation on the bottle. The black and gold is beautiful. Good luck at the event.

  • Yulando McMullen says:

I am very excited about Kajal’s new Aican. I currently have five fragrances from this niche house. The quality of scents are blind buy worthy. After viewing Redolessence video, I can’t wait to get my bottle!

  • Josh_Elington_77 says:

Since Lamar is my fave , and Moe Khalaf complex nature is very much similar to mine I’d like to say I’m thankful for the chance of winning ÄICAN.
Taking into consideration my impressions of the awesome intro , the questions Michelyn Camen asked Moe and his answers , i’m convinced he’s not just a guy with a good attitude but also a passionate dreamer , and to a great extent a gentleman.
It’s vital to me that ÄICAN even though a tropical ripe fruits fragrance, is different than Lamar. The praline, pepper and patchouli together with the fruits are setting the bar so high.
My physical and mental strength can overcome any struggle , the positive affirmation i wanted to share
    Many thanks , UK

Kajal is a brand that has been on my radar for a while. I love the idea of affirmation cards with the sample box. The name ÄICAN (I Can) says it all. It’s important to be optimistic & wear a fragrance that projects that energy especially in the times we are living in.

Steven really makes this fragrance sound real juicy. He mentions all the P’s that I love. Patchouli, Pepper, Passion Fruit, Praline & Pineapple. He said that this has set the bar for an exotic fruity fragrance. Sounds like a great summer vibe to add to my collection.

Affirmation: I will Shine my light today & not hide it.

-Happy by Pharrell Williams … and Moe Khalaf

Great to know Moe Khalaf colorful personality only makes him stronger, and helps him move forward. Michelyn introduction made me want to sing the famous song by Pharrell 🙂
Up until 3 weeks the only Kajal fragrance I knew was Dahab , now thanks to sampling I know Kajal III and IV too , now I’ll have to sample ÄICAN too and I will.
Smelling both good and unique is a must , no matter how much I love Dahab I was worried that, because of the passion fruit ÄICAN could remind me of it, thankfully Steven reassured us all the two fragrances are not alike.
Other than Michelyn interview with Moe Khalaf, the scent profile of passion fruit, pineapple patchouli, pralines ,and how enthusiastic Steven is, I’m also interested in ÄICAN because of Huseyin Erdogmus. He created the gem called Unique’e Luxury Kutay .
I work in Marketing and Storytelling for a long time, positive affirmations do not move me much, what actually moved me today is the whole ÄICAN experience, as usual splendid work from Michelyn and Steven
    Thank you for the opportunity

A positive affirmation I use is I am courageous. Thanks a million from the UK

  • John Gahlt says:

I thoroughly enjoyed Steven’s video on Kajal ÄICAN, as it beautifully captured the essence and energy of the fragrance, making the experience feel immersive. The visuals were stunning, especially the close-ups of the perfume bottle and the packaging details, including the positive affirmation cards, which added a unique and heartfelt touch. Additionally, Moe Khalaf’s and Michelyn Camen’s introduction provided a deep dive into the philosophy and craftsmanship behind ÄICAN. It was fascinating to learn about the collaboration between the talented perfumers Huseyin Erdogmus, Ozge Erdogmus Altinel, and Gokhan Simsek, as well as the intricate blend of notes that make up this exceptional fragrance. Their passion for positivity and optimism truly shines through in both the product and their words.

ÄICAN was crafted from a passionate belief in the transformative power of optimism. It embodies an ardent aspiration to capture the revitalizing vibrancy of positive energy into a fragrance

I can emphasize to the Kajal founder words, I have the exact same attitude towards my work , hobbies and life , I too believe in the transformative power of optimism .
The thing is no matter how much of a optimistic person you are, there’s always moments when issues makes you swing to the negative side, and only leaders can go back fast enough , and to say “I can be optimistic no matter what”. Moe Khalaf to me is both inspirational figure and runs Kajal the best way possible .
ÄICAN is a fragrance based on collaboration between Huseyin Erdogmus, his daughter Ozge Erdogmus Altinel and Gokhan Simsek from EPS Fragrances, sustainability, scientific expertise and even Steven thinks it sets the bar higher for an exotic fruity fragrance, I’m so impressed.

What I liked most about Steven’s video is his vision of the fragrance and his unique point of view for a fruity scent in which Kajal took it to the top in this type of DNA.

I had the opportunity to get to know Aican through an exhibition given by Moe himself at an event in Argentina. I can confirm Steve’s words, this new Kajal fragrance elevated the fruity DNA and in my personal taste is the one I like the most within the brand.

  • chamberoflilith says:

The story behind the name of the scent just speaks to me. The transformative process Moe Khalaf mentions is continual, similar in essence, but immensely, almost aggressively different each time we go through it. I like that and I like the “respect and modesty” he mentions. For a scent that is so opulent in its presentation and composition, I like the return to modesty and respect. Sort of a reminder of our divine nature and why we do all that we do. In Steven’s video, I like how he mentions that ÄICAN is a scent that is easy to love. I find that disarming. It’s something we all dream of being, although we often wrap ourselves in a cloak of separation. “A fruity amber” (as Steven says), sounds absolutely delightful for a season of newfound bliss. Thank you, from Romania.

  • Kelly Hinrichs says:

I’m so glad Steven mentioned this is not reminiscent of Erba Pura. That’s where my mind started to go when listening to the review, at first. Sounds like a lovely fragrance! I especially enjoy the I Can (Aican) inclusion of positivity.

  • I love the positive energy surrounding ÄICAN. Steven really influenced me to want this fragrance with the notes breakdown as well as confirming that it doesn’t smell like the usual suspects. I am from North Carolina. One of my favorite affirmations is “Today is good day for a good day.”

  • Davelorne says:

Big fan of Kajal especially Lamar. I am new to both Redolessence and CaFleureBon, but wow! So impressed with this site and Steven’s video. From Michelin’s introduction with Moe Khalaf, I liked how she asked him questions about the perfumers and the reason why there are positive affirmations included with ÄICAN. The presentation is first rate. From Steven, how excited he was about the passionfruit. My positive affirmation is I can accept other’s opinion and learn from them. USA

    Hello from UK
All nuances of Moe Khalaf journey do have a familiar tune , from his optimism, modesty and always keeping his sight forward , and never looked back. I’m impressed how he works hard , not only that but having fun and smiling, that’s exactly when a person is more successful.
The thing is you not only have to think about it, that’s the easiest part, it’s so much harder to choose to live such a life just like Moe Khalaf did.
The insightful introduction of the 3 perfumers by the names of Huseyin Erdogmus , Ozge Erdogmus Altinel and Gokhan Simsek from EPS Fragrances had another angle added ,I enjoyed learning about them all.
I’d love to win ÄICAN , based on Moe journey , Michelyn Camen and Redolessence sterling work and my previous experience with Kajal, delighted owner of Lamar + Almaz , I’m envisioning excellence once again
    Thank you so much

  • As a Master Barber myself I’d like to say Moe Khalaf beard is always on point, i noticed again the nice cut on the picture with Michelyn.
Kajal is a great brand, big fan of Homme I , I know a few other fragrances, but not the the brand’s latest edition . I need to order some samples soon.
If I have to guess based on what I learned from Steven and the intro ÄICAN is high end , refined and alluring tropical fragrance with some spicy exoticism , as usual with heavy metal caps, and the whole presentation is top notch.
Not yet familiar with Huseyin Erdogmus, Ozge Erdogmus Altinel and Gokhan Simsek work but I can tell dreaming big is a must for all of them.
Kajal Homme i wear on all occasions, I’m at the end of my 4th bottle, and I’ll definitely buy 5th one.
I’m allowed to have big goals, with my own business
My positive affirmation i follow closely

    Moe Khalaf

Splendid approach, I like such inside information I can’t find anywhere else, thank you Michelyn.
Danu Seith-Fyr spoke of Kajal IV in her best of last year , recently enjoyed learning about Kevin Mathys path, and now captivated by ÄICAN and I’ll try to express my opinion on the topic.
I can see why Kajal founder believes that through fragrances he can spread some positive energy, indirectly pointing out to his own character. He definitely likes noble fragrance, unique olfactory experiences while making people happy.
I find impressive how Michelyn and Steven were able to merge elegance, Moe Khalaf dreams , perfumers i was not aware of and artistry too.
Even though ÄICAN and Dahab are different they still share the passion fruit, juiciness and the sense of exclusivity.
    Dahab I own
I do have a positive affirmation – I will get back up every single time I fall

I love that this fragrance is based on the power of optimism. I think I need that in my life right now! Also, I’m so appreciative that Michelyn explained the pronunciation! Steven’s reviews are always great and I love his description of it as bursting at the seams! I’m so intrigued! I love the way Kajal does fruity fragrances and this sounds amazing. Thanks for the draw, from the US.

What a tropical paradise! The passionfruit and pineapple sound great, as does the citrus opening, rounded up by praline and patchouli. Truly a great “cast” of P’s, as Steven put it!
As far as Michelyn’s introduction goes, I’m happy she asked the question regarding the positive affirmation cards, so we had the chance to find out why.
I personally can find something to laugh about in (almost) every matter.

I love how the things worked out for Moe Khalaf , knowledgeable and humble guy who founded Kajal. Through a lot of hard work and dedication , believe in positivity he was able to expand and develop so much that in 2024 Kajal booth was one of the busiest at Esxence , truly remarkable.
Big time YES to upscale niche perfumery, Kajal, daring approaches and aesthetics , and people with the positive mindset like Moe Khalaf.
In ÄICAN I like the fleshy fruits , woody accords , praline, patchouli and the dance between the uplifting appeal and Middle Eastern essence . Everything in ÄICAN i find rich and inviting.
Kajal is one of my favorite brands, intricate fragrances with unique genetic core, always long lasting and with one of a kind bottles. Lamar I own, my favorite

  • I’ll start with the positive affirmation we had to share:
“I chose to attract positive energy today, while focused on my goals”

Unquestionably dedication is a must for the 21st century dire competition, and expectations are high for everyone , in particular for niche fragrance brands.
Moe Khalaf work ethics are noteworthy. Unlike a lot of other brand owners he’s not just looking for a way to push fragrances fast , he actually feels the need to create and design the best fragrances possible.
The whole EPS Fragrances team i think accepts nothing nearly right or good enough , the reason Moe Khalaf decided to work with them.
Judging by the detailed introduction Redolessence honest opinion, and how ecstatic he is describing ÄICAN all makes me feel free will sophisticated fragrance with fruity appeal is on horizon.
The marvelous looking bottle of course is something to be expected from the brand, the shape is different the bottle of Homme II , my personal favorite, but just as pretty. Thank you

  • Affirmations do make a difference! My current favorite is “I am love, I attract love.”
I really like that there are positive affirmations included in the box. Would love to smell this one. Pineapple and passionfruit sounds juicy and decadent! Thank you for the review. I’m in the USA.

  • Kajal is a new fragrance house for me. The blend of notes sound very interesting and both video descriptions made it sound like a fragrance I would enjoy.

  • Thanks for the lovely description of the fragrance. This sounds like a very interesting blend of notes, that I would definitely enjoy.

  • The power of optimism is a really inspiring idea for a fragrance. It’s interesting that it’s so tropical fruit forward. The jasmine and ginger also makes me think of warm, sultry days and nights. It’s good to know Steven likes the passion fruit-praline combination. MD, USA.

I enjoyed reading about EPS fragrances, learning about the company and Huseyin Erdogmus. Really crazy what they have achieved.

Watching Steven’s video, the opening of this fragrance sounds like a fruit bomb (I’m just imagining a rubber ballon filled with the scent of these fruits bursting over my head). The movement into the florals and spices in the mids and the nice sweet dry down along with the woods make this such a lovely fragrance.

  • Quite often successful people striving so hard to achieve their goals do forget the joy of life itself. Moe Khalaf is not one of them .
I believe he enjoys every step of the way , the journey , the struggle, the good times ,the reward of reaching different goals and beautiful new fragrances being released, and appreciated by new and returning Kajal supporters.
I wish I had the opportunity , maybe one day I will , to have some time to speak with Moe Khalaf like Michelyn did , maybe I should visit Esxence next year
I’m so interested in ÄICAN, it’s so juicy with the passion fruit and pineapple , slightly spicy with ambery undercurrent, definitely a joyous fragrance i’d really like to win.
“I’m grateful for each moment of my life I’m blessed with” – positive affirmation I repeat myself often
My favorite Kajal fragrance is Joorie, high quality spicy sweet rose, with honey, I like it a lot
    Thanks for the draw

I believe it’s easy to say Moe Khalaf is working his dream job , which is so rare. I firmly believe if you want to be successful in this world and at the same time be happy , you have to follow your passion first, not a paycheck. The idea of adding affirmation cards in the box, as well as two extra samples only comes to show the creative part of Moe Khalaf character.
I know Kajal Perfumes, still I’m not familiar with the perfumers out of EPS Fragrances who co-created ÄICAN. I’m pleased to know they all come from scientific background.
Powerful and novelty tropical fruity fragrance, with pineapple and passion fruit, spices and patchouli , no wonder Redolessence thinks it sets the bar so high

  • THank you Michelyn and What an insightful and captivating review! It’s wonderful to hear about Kajal’s innovative approach at Esxence 2024, particularly their inclusion of affirmation cards with the ÄICAN fragrance. Moe Khalaf’s vision of embedding positivity and optimism into the very essence of this perfume is truly inspiring. The collaboration between such talented perfumers—Huseyin Erdogmus, Ozge Erdogmus Altinel, and Gokhan Simsek—promises a rich and intricate olfactory experience. The blend of mandarin, passion fruit, and pineapple in the top notes, combined with the depth of vanilla, patchouli, and amber in the base notes, sounds like a symphony for the senses. Best of luck to the Kajal team at the upcoming Art and Olfaction Awards, and thank you for sharing this beautiful story and fragrance with us!

I HAD to return here just to say that last night I dreamed I smelled ÄICAN. This quite dapper gentleman was testing it and he presented me his wrist so that I may smell it as well. I remember it was fruity, velvety, with a woody, darker finish. The gentleman said he felt the patchouli only after a while. And he had a golden retriever :)))) Writing again from Romania

  • About Steven’s video, I liked the analysis on unique entity of exotic fruit fruit and the relevance with Dahab pefrume.
From Moe Khalaf’s introduction of course the important thing is their core values, positivity, treating everyone with respect and modesty.

I’d like to point out I’m don’t speak Arabic, but as Certified Master Bench Jeweler (US terminology, it’s called Master Goldsmith in UK) i worked for a major jewelry company owned by a guy from UAE , and the term ÄICAN in Arabic means purified gold, aka 24k gold.
Of course 100% pure gold do not exist 99.99% is the best you could ever make, there’s not a lot of pure 24k gold jewelry market in the West, there’s only 2-3 big companies I can think of. But the Middle East owning 24k gold jewelry means a lot more than prestige , it means purity and perfection and naming the fragrance ÄICAN shows the levels of excellence Moe Khalaf is always striving for. I’m genuinely stunned by Moe , not only by his motivation, positive thinking , true citizen of the world.
Kajal Perfumes is a brand every fragrance lover needs to know , it’s a must because of exquisite and alluring creations made from the best of the best ingredients , long lasting on top of that with help of talanted perfumers like Mark Buxton , bright prospect Kevin Mathys (best of luck in the upcoming Art and Olfaction Awards for Kajal IV) and with ÄICAN with the talanted Huseyin Erdogmus, Ozge Erdogmus Altinel and Gokhan Simsek. I happen to know them because they work another brand i love called Unique’e Luxury.
I really like sweet fruity and citrucy fragrance with an edge , and ÄICAN checks all the boxes for me. The black pepper and praline excites me even more.
Seeing the beautiful beautiful gold varak applied to the black bottle kind of look , and the rose gold looking cap makes me feel good, Kajal bottles always look great.

  • We all have the choice to embrace a new beginning and to shine once again, revealing the magnificence that has always resided within us. ÄICAN was crafted from a passionate belief in the transformative power of optimism
    –Moe Khalaf

He’s so speaking like a true adept, and definitely not like a salesman. It has been a pleasure learning about the idea of making ÄICAN based on optimism and positive energy.
I’m impressed how Moe Khalaf is non-stop trying new things, and ways to get better in every sense of the way , the affirmation cards in the box I’d read one by one. The truth is not a lot of people feel the need to create, and evolve
and it seems like with Moe Khalaf it comes from within.
I’m a fan of beautiful things, opulent aura, passion fruit and pineapple fragrances , creativity , and I’ll be happy to win ÄICAN

  • I loved that Michelyn was able to sit down with Moe while in Milan. I loved how he described this: “ÄICAN was crafted from a passionate belief in the transformative power of optimism. It embodies an ardent aspiration to capture the revitalizing vibrancy of positive energy into a fragrance.”
Steven said that this unique fragrance is so easy to LOVE! I feel this is because of the ingredients and how Moe said it was crafted. I believe that this one will be a standout fragrance from Kajal. I am in the USA.

  • I enjoyed Steven’s breakdown of the fragrance and his enthusiasm about the release. I also enjoyed how Moe explained the positive inspiration around the scent. I’m very excited about trying this fragrance. From Bowling Green, Kentucky.

  • Moe seems like a great guy. I like his motto of treating everyone with respect as I believe the same. I agree with Steven, you don’t see passionfruit too often and I can’t think of the last time I had any. I like that it doesn’t smell like your typical fruity Erba Pura sweet fruity fragrance at least according to Steven. NYC USA

  • I decided to share my favorite positive affirmation first ☺
“I have a kind of old-fashioned, artisan approach”
    – Lee Child
We share a lot of common objectives and principles, Lee Child, Moe Khalaf and I , as Artisan myself, I’m a leather arts craft woman I’m overjoyed of Moe Khalaf position and how everything sums up nicely with ÄICAN . It’s not just the great smelling aroma with the succulent fruits, the pralines and the jasmine, it’s about affirmation cards and the samples added in a wooden look box .
Crafting always brings joy to the artist, not just Huseyin Erdogmus, Ozge Erdogmus Altinel and Gokhan Simsek are the artists for being renowned perfumers , Moe Khalaf is definitely an artist himself.

Moe Khalaf box of surprises is always full, almost bottomless. Who else would come up with the idea of putting different positive affirmation cards and 2 extra samples , what a gorgeous presentation ÄICAN has.
Moe is literally living the story he wants to tell , always pushing the boundaries while being humble and optimistic at the same time. It’s safe to say how he acts is making him stronger mentally.
The other good news is that ÄICAN is not like any other Kajal fragrance , not like Dahab or Lamar , my two favorites , both in my possession.
Steven take on ÄICAN made me think of being on a tropical island, making and later on eating Passion Fruit and Pineapple Gâteau with buttery shortcrust , crunchy praline and vibrant ripe fruits , delicious dessert and delicious fragrance lookalikes.

  • Utmost respect for people like Moe Khalaf , who have high standards and goals , yet do not forget to spread optimism.

《We have always believed in positivity, treating everyone with respect and modesty as our core values. In the creation of Kajal ÄICAN this quickly became a topic that we wanted to include and share with everyone, especially when the name very much reminded of us of “I Can” 》

Reading the answer that he gave to Michelyn Camen why exactly he decided to include positive affirmation cards in ÄICAN box made me think of how very few people actually know the true meaning of words like optimism and modesty , not a lot i believe !
Good job Moe Khalaf, together with different very talented perfumers you engendered magnificent fragrances.
Keeping in mind the zealous examination of ÄICAN by Redolessence i know EPS Fragrances trio did some
splendid work once again. ÄICAN is elaborate juicy passion fruit, praline and pineapple fragrance I really like to win

    Salutations
It could be my impressions only but I believe most people associate Kajal Perfumes with Lamar, the best pineapple I’ve ever smelled . It was a pleasure reading the introduction with Moe Khalaf and Michelyn Camen, and of course the video with Redolessence.
I’ve learned a lot of Moe Khalaf today. What grabbed me the most, in no particular order a) his ambition to grow b) with his guidance how popular the house of Kajal has become c) his inventiveness d) his desire to create positive atmosphere of trust and kindness through joyful and sophisticated fragrances e) how jubilant and happy ÄICAN is , with passion fruit, pineapple and pralines
I thought about it and “I forgive myself for my past mistakes” , important and positive affirmation
    It’s been a pleasure

Aican seems like the perfect new perfume for this summer because I am a fan of Lamar.

  • Captivating introduction and enthusiastic video about ÄICAN , job well done to Michelyn and Redolessence duo .
I can’t help but to be impressed how Moe Khalaf was able to achieve so much , there is a reason why even at Esxence people were gathering non-stop at Kajal Perfumes booth. It’s appears that Moe is drama-free happy person, and the whole “I can” positive energy thing is 100% real, and not some good advertising tactics.
I find ÄICAN delightful for the fresh start, pineapple and passion fruit on one part , and the patchouli and praline on the other.
Other than wanting to win ÄICAN, I’d also love to visit EPS Fragrances headquarters , it will be so much fun

Wow the level is completely different here , I’m greatly impressed. All other sources of information can give you the basics like how the fragrance smells, what the notes are and how it performs, but talking to brand owners and perfumers is totally unexpected yet high valued.
In comparison to Moe Khalaf i too believe in positivity and try to treat people with respect, at least those who deserve it .
I’m new to Cafleurebon but I know niche fragrances and with the competition getting fierce i need something more than a good smell, i need something to grab my attention, and the positive affirmation cards and Lamar and Masa samples did the trick for me.
Through ÄICAN I can book a flight and hotel in Martinique whiteout actually being there, sweet and juicy tropical review and unlike Redolessence I’ve eaten passion fruit multiple times.
I saw we are asked to share our positive affirmation, another thing I’ve never seen before, another wow . “I’m always ready to tackle any task or problem that come my way”

  • The closest I get to a positive affirmation is “if someone else can do it, so can I” which my parents taught me from a young age. I’m not normally a fruity floral/ foody fan but this sounds like an exotic but wearable beauty that could very much change my mind. Steven’s enthusiasm makes it sound WONderful and the Foody Amber tag rang very temptingly. The intro was a nice introduction to the processes and thoughts of the perfumers. I live in the USA.

  • Froaderick says:

Capturing positive energy in fragrance form! Paraphrasing a bit but that sentiment is so much of what fragrance is (to me at least). Treating others with respect as a core value is refreshing, and fragrance is one way we can do that for ourselves. That positive affirmation cards are included is such a unique, inspiring idea. Steven’s review highlights “all the P’s:” Pineapple, Passionfruit, Praline and Patchouli. I also don’t think I’ve ever eaten passion fruit, but I’m quite curious about this scent!

My own affirmation is simple: I CAN make an impact. Be that on my family, co-workers, friends or even a stranger. I CAN make their day better based on my input into their world. Cheers from Ohio, USA! 🙂

  • Happy_Coco says:

I follow Redolessence for years and I’m surprised by his facial expression while speaking of ÄICAN , I think he’s as thrilled as he ever been.
I presume 350 + booths on Esxence means there was 350 different brands showing their catalogs the best way possible , correct? And still Kajal had one of the busiest booths so let’s say the positive affirmation cards worked for Moe Khalaf too because that’s something major.
I’d like to share my favorite part of the thoughtful introduction

“We have always believed in positivity, treating everyone with respect and modesty as our core values”

Love, love and love again. It’s remarkable that Moe Khalaf found the work-life balance relying on optimism and positivity in addition to always thinking outside of the box.
Like everything in real life some components ÄICAN are gentle like the jasmine, some delicious like the passion fruit and praline , others don’t know what to expect from like the patchouli. The balanced between the sweetness and spices I’m looking for the most.
I’m not familiar with the fragrances Huseyin Erdogmus, Ozge Erdogmus Altinel and Gokhan Simsek signed , I am familiar with Kajal Perfumes – Fiddah, Homme II
I’m happy, self-reliant, creative and persistent in whatever I do . Positivity all the way through , that’s why my Cafleurebon nickname starts with “happy” 🙂

I have not smelled any fragrances from Kajal before, but the notes do sound enticing. I appreciated Steven’s technical explanation of the notes and how he perceived the unisex aspect of the fragrance, with the unique blend of fruit notes. After reading Moe Khalaf and Michelyn’s introduction, I can see the passion and story behind the creation and its Turkish roots. This is an avenue of perfumery I have yet to explore but wish to do so as it seems unique and less common here in California than more mainstream offerings from department stores. I love when fragrances can invoke positive affirmations and sensually affect your mindset, shaping a more productive and focused day.

All fragrances can tell a story, some are passionate, some are sad and other do have a happy ending. There is one particular Kajal fragrance that will always have a special place in my heart, because to me it tell the best story possible . Reading about Moe Khalaf idea of modesty, respect and positive energy was like déja vu all over again for me because i met my loving husband on Boyz II Men concert , the famous r’n’b and soul group while wearing Jihan . He … back then a total stranger complimented me with “You smell intoxicating” and the rest is history ❤
I have a keen interest in Kajal ÄICAN because of Moe Khalaf cosmopolitan personality , and the delicious scent too . I find the blend of passion fruit, bergamot, pineapple and praline mouthwatering.
It’s more than a positive affirmation, since it means a world to me “I’m happily married with the help of Kajal, with the help of Jihan ❤ ” .

  • Reading Michelyn’s intro, it’s clear Kajal put together a really nice booth display with those affirmation cards and wood stand. And it’s a welcome concept; we all could use some “positive energy” right now. (No positive affirmations here, but I like to remind myself to focus and calm my mind often.)

Steven enthusiastically describes ÄICAN as “juicy and bursting at the seams,” fruity and overripe—the kind of perfume that’s a blast to wear in the summer. He also compared it to some other fragrances that read as similar on paper, but confirmed ÄICAN stands apart with its combination of “exotic” passion fruit and praline. Glad the pineapple is secondary. Sounds terrific.

The duality of his personality is so well-bred , thanks to Michelyn Camen questions i believe that if I speak with him face to face I’d feel enclosed with never ending ambition and passion, but also with modesty and respect simultaneously.
Everything in ÄICAN is on its own place, the passion fruit and pineapple, vanilla, amber and maybe a bit of vetiver. Surely opening the box with affirmation cards, the wooden box with 2 samples is experience like no other.

I loved Steven’s video review Kajal Aican and Moe Khalafs/Michelyn’s Introduction. Steven is brilliant and talented reviewer. This sounds like a very unique fruity fragrance with a prominent passionfruit note as well as a gourmand touch of praline and a ambery drydown. Love founder Moe Khalafs vision for the brand Kajal Perfumes and the positive affirmation cards that come with all of his fragrances. His stand was one of the busiest at Esxence 2024 and for good reason. Kajal Perfumes continues to come out with amazing releases. My positive affirmation comes through meditation, which I do on the daily basis. I would love to win this amazing new release. I am from the USA.

  • Loved the description of the fragrance. Truly excited to get my nose on this one. I always have some trepidation of feeling like the notes won’t match the scent, but based on your descriptions I am confident that it will!

  • I can , Moe Khalaf can , Kajal can , Michelyn Camen and and Redolessence can , the enjoyment of life and delightful fragrances is something we all share between us .
I’ve seen luxurious painted oak boxes and other good looking bottles but not black hard paper positive affirmation cards , as well as not one but two additional samples, that’s something I’ve never seen before , kudos for the idea.
I’m moderate in terms of optimism, I do love to treat people with respect , but only those who deserve such treatment, let’s face it a lot of people just don’t.
I like how you included extra information about EPS Fragrances and the 3 perfumers.
Erba Pura is a good fragrance but ÄICAN sound so much better, so succulent with passion fruit, pineapple and praline. I almost started drooling

Seems like it would be an attractive scent for summer evenings and going out. Thanks for the giveaway! — San Jose, California

  • I’m well dressed, healthy, happy and full of confidence

Still new to Cafleurebon but I’m sure lots of other new subscribers are often saying things like Wow and I was so not expecting this or that. The blog is moving in its own tranquil pace which I love.
Now to today’s read and video , both vivid and full of positive energy. Moe Khalaf is not only built differently, happy with modest personality but he also likes to surround himself with people who have the same or similar values.
Usually business owners only goal is the make as much money as possible , and see buyers as walking piggybanks not Moe though.
I am familiar with one Kajal fragrance Dahab , and Redolessence reassurance calmed me down because I don’t like owning basically similar fragrances. I’m bet ÄICAN is as good as Dahab , maybe more spicy and tasty because of the praline? Soulful fragrance , I’m hooked

The fact that Steven said, “Do not miss this one…it will be a hard one for Kajal to top..”. That says alot to me. I am already a fan of Kajal and am very excited about Aican. I’ve had the privilege of meeting Moe at ScentXplore and found him to be a true gentleman and very passionate about his creations. Also, a very positive person. So, I believe the affirmations are an extension of who he is and why I find Kajal to be a quality niche fragrance house.

The brand of Kajal Perfumes i do know, the three fragrance experts from Turkey, not only perfumes but with chemistry degrees I just found out about thanks to Michelyn Camen and Moe Khalaf . Other than a gifted perfumer Huseyin Erdogmus holds some patents interesting detail.
Moe Khalaf not only could , but actually should write a motivational book called “How to work hard , never give up, dream big while being modest and respectful” , and if he does I’ll buy a copy. I wish I was able to find such middle ground, hopefully I will…one day.
Amber , pineapple and passion fruit are favorites of mine, let alone how Redolessence said ÄICAN is full and it stands out with praline in the drydown – wonderful fragrance.
Kajal Perfumes i strongly associate with a fragrance by the name of Lamar
I do have positive affirmation – I’m self-reliant, creative and persistent
Thank you very much Kajal and Moe Khalaf, Redolessence and special thanks to Michelyn Camen for each section on the intro

    Hello Cafleurebon
Other than fragrances, my other two main hobbies are ping-pong and chess. In chess there is a strict rating system called Elo , with titles to rate the strength of a player based on their performance against other players. If I have to use the Elo system to rate what my first impressions of Cafleurebon are I’d easily say Grandmasters (GM) , all other blogs and most YouTube and Instagram are International Masters or FIDE Masters, meaning 1-2 levels bellow.
Moe Khalaf has always been respectful and modest , looking to ignite the interest of fragrance enthusiasts.
I don’t remember the last time I’ve seen Redolessence so exited, that’s a statement on its own. If he believes the juiciness of the passion fruit and praline are making ÄICAN so addictive i can’t even imagine how good it is. Setting the bar higher and higher is what Moe Khalaf always do, he did with Almaz, and now with ÄICAN raised it even more.
Absolutely I won’t miss a read on Cafleurebon from now on.
I am calm in stressful situations
I’m based in EU , thanks

  • Pineapple, passionfruit, and praline ….I need it lol. Then throw in that patchouli and pepper and I just know this is heavenly. I just recently bought Lamar from the house and it is slowly becoming my most worn fragrance and these notes look to replace that fragrance. Steven entions how juicy and ripe this smells and just feels like its gonna be good for me. Moe mentions this fragrance was made with the power of optimism and I feel this will embody that feeling.

I live in Dallas, TX and I do have affirmations that I say to myself every morning

  • One of the biggest advantages of Cafleurebon is that all the information makes you wonder, makes you think.
Like Moe Khalaf I’m always respectful, maybe even modest but also not as optimistic as I was 6-7 years ago. Maybe “I can be optimistic once again” should actually be my positive affirmation?
ÄICAN is so special, bubbly and delicious i can feel it. Exotic fruits like pineapple and passion fruit, treats like praline.. I came to realization I need a tropical voyage , and I need ÄICAN.

I followed Redolessence advice to subscribe and participate in the giveaway, and I’m here now 😉
Just recently started delving into niche perfumery , and I already have 6 bottles in total, one of which is Kajal DAHAB . When Redolessence said there are some similarities, but ÄICAN is its own unique entity and the fragrance Huseyin Erdogmus, Ozge Erdogmus Altinel and Gokhan Simsek created sets the bar really high i though…how is this even possible? I mean DAHAB is the best fragrance I’ve ever smelled and Redolessence thinks there is something ever better now?!? Wow
In my view treating everyone with certain level of respect is something anyone could learn, but with optimism and modesty it has to come from within, there is no other way around. That’s als how it worked with Moe Khalaf i believe.
“I honor my intuition and use it as a guide”
    EU Thank you

Since Michelyn is born and bread Yankee i presume she’ll recognize one of the greatest New York rappers, pretty sure all of you know that song It’s so Moe Khalaf , uplifting, motivational and energetic.
Steven made me think of a future classic coming from Kajal , and I like the natural passion fruit, black pepper, pineapple and praline goodness called ÄICAN
The quality again is definitely there , and for a long time now I can’t stop admiring the designer’s work , i wish I knew who Kajal hired , someone very talented , astonishing work again.
    I know I Can
Homme II and Dahab are in my possession
Thank you Steven , Kajal, Michelyn

My girlfriend is half Indian (from India) , half Arabic and she said when I asked her that Kajal in Indian Sanskrit means a woman with beautiful eyes, in Arabic in spoken word means a ancient beaty product kohl used as powdery eyeliner , but if it’s derivative of khajal in that case means humble. So Moe Khalaf is not just respectful optimist , he also named the brand he found humble.
My girlfriend also said ÄICAN in Arabic means “perfect gold” whatever that means . If I have to guess that is 24k gold but it could very well have some different, more spiritual meaning.
ÄICAN sound fantastic, more than delicious, like a basket case with exotic fruits , lots of fun and positive emotions
On my own positive affirmation card it says “Everything is possible if you believe in it”
Thank you for the draw EU
