And, as reader of ÇaFleureBon, you are familiar with the ultra-talented Jerome di  Marino of MANE who was featured one year ago in our Young Perfumer Series when he was with Takasago (he received a CaFleureBon rising star award in 2020). Jerome di  Marino was mentored by master perfumer Francis Kurkdjian, and now with MANE travels between Barcelona and Paris. I am a big fan of this talented award-winning perfumer who joined MANE six months ago; I asked him about his creative process for Kind Intentions and he kindly shared valuable insights -Michelyn Camen, Editor-In-Chief

“When I craft fragrances, the raw material is always my starting point and I like to work them in two kinds of ways: First, combining them for the similarities they are sharing like I did with Cocoa and Tonka bean in Empyreal, they provide a kind of synergy one to another and give it an overly addictive facet. I overdosed the Labdanum on the Tobacco note to enhance the smoky and ambery tones and  add even more depth. On the other hand, I like to combine raw materials to create contrasting and unexpected effects, to bring it where people are not used to smelling it like in Navitus Parfums Kind Intentions where I played around the resinous tones of olibanum and combines it with a fruity gourmand facet to make it irresistible and more attractive.”

Notes for Navitus Parfums Kind Intentions include: Italian Mandarin, Iris, Egyptian Seaweed, White Flowers Blend, African Olibanum, Sandalwood, Benzoin, Madagascan Vanilla Absolute, Moss and Indonesian Musk

    The idea of contrasting notes for unexpected results sounds more interesting, as a collector for a while it is the unexpected that usually gets my attention. It seems like a well blended easy wear for anyone and owning some Navitus scents I can say they have put out some great ones.

    Absolutely, would love to win this fragrance, not only is the bottle color beautiful. Now the notes, iris sandalwood and vanilla caught my eye.
    The way Jerome, says he creates with raw material..in this one olibanum and fruity Gourmand. This sounds Amazing and Steven definitely peeked my interest in the video.

    Kind Intentions’ “dulcet tones” sound like a real treat. Its unique incorporation of olibanum as a gourmand note seems like it’d be a joy to experience.

    This sounds so magical to experience. Stevens review showcases just how much these notes play along and compliment each other Egyptian seaweed. Jerome di Marino’s description of combining raw materials to create contrasting effects sounds so interesting. Would love to try from Ct USA

    The gourmand touches of this fragrance alone sell it for me as when it comes to fragrances, I am first a gourmand lover before all other types. Creamy-ness is also another factor I look for in fragrances as they give a cozy feeling. The incense note in here makes me wonder what it’s gonna smell like with the floral accords, it sounds very serene like Steve described it. The white bottle (presentation) also adds to the pure/exquisite nature of the fragrances. Cheers from NJ, USA.

    Super hyped for this fragrance! The bottle design and color alone have me OBSESSED. Steven’s review really went on to emphasize the smoothness of this fragrance, something I really like to see (or smell in this case) in fragrances. He described it in a really helpful way by really highlighting the creaminess of it. Aside from that I love notes of iris in fragrances because it prints such a lovely powderyness to fragrances. Also I am such a sucker for florals in perfumes it’s not even funny. Jerome Di Marino has a really good creative process as well. I love how he not only acknowledges the rawness of notes themselves but also goes on to consider how they work with other notes too. Whether he puts ingredients together that compliment one another, or he juxtaposes notes that are seemingly unrelated, his creative process is definitely one which invokes a sense of curiosity and uniqueness. I find myself thinking similarly when layering fragrances that either work together smoothly or create a fun, unexpected twist.

    As usual Steven’s review was professional and concise. He is so genuine and thoughtful saying that Paulina articulated her process better than he could possibly describe it. Jerome’s creative process is inspired and I cant help but wonder what his experience with MFK influenced this fragrance.

    Aloha from Hawaii! I’m fairly new to the world of fragrance. I really appreciate Steve’s thoroughness in his reviews. He breaks down the notes and gives insight to the over experience of the fragrance. It’s always interesting to hear the perfumer’s vision for the fragrance. Creating fragrances is art. It’s sounds like a wonderful signature scent. I’m very excited to possibly get my nose on this one!

    I always love Steven’s reviews and my thoughts on Steven’s review of Navitus Parfums Kind Intentions is that he gives a great explanation of the scent profile and gets really detailed.     I cannot wait to smell this one! So excited! The notes sound like a heavenly combination. It’s always nice to get an amazing and unique niche fragrance. The use of raw material is a nice touch too. Natural ingredients are a must in fragrances for me. I just ordered my first Navitus fragrance, Raised Spirits, and I cannot wait to wear it.

    I have not been so excited by a newly released fragrance for a long time. For Steven to state that it smells like nothing he has quite gotten his nose on before is saying something, since that man is an encyclopaedia of perfume knowledge! By the sounds of it, Jerome Di Marino had the innovation and vision to create something truly unique and different (so difficult in this industry) and like he says “unexpected” and “addicting”. Everyone so far who reviews it has used variations of the abovementioned terms to describe it. I cannot wait to get my nose on it! Congratulations to Jerome, Paulina, Steven and the Navitus team! I predict that Kind Intentions is the dark horse scent that will take everyone by surprise and become a top seller for the house.

    The creamy floral opening sounds really beautiful, and as you mentioned smooth. The incense in the heart, and the woody base with clean musks and iris are all aspects I find very appealing.
    And wow what a gorgeous bottle, the color, the gold cap, stunning…
    I really enjoyed reading of Jerome Di Marino’s creative process of the combining of raw materials to create interesting, unique fragrance in contrasting of notes that may not always be paired together.

    I just got my bottle today in the mail. I was so excited to smell it! I must say I am in love with this Fragrance. It is a delicious light fruity cotton candy heaven! Perfect for summer time, and I am wearing it to a wedding tomorrow! This one is my favorite so far from this house I think I’m going to buy a back up bottle! Great job.

    Amazing review by Steven, also loved Jerome’s introduction. I loved the perfumer’s creativity and how he blends raw materials when he is creating fragrances.
    Kind intentions is something I did not know I needed in my collection but now I do. I love that it is unisex and smooth. I love creamy fragrances and I adore that it has santalwood, musk and iris. Woud love to win this one.

    I’m incredibly excited about this fragrance! The bottle design and color alone have captivated me completely. Steven’s review truly emphasized the fragrance’s smoothness, which is something I truly appreciate when it comes to scents. He described it in a highly informative way, highlighting its creaminess. Additionally, I adore the presence of iris notes in fragrances because they add a delightful powdery touch. Furthermore, I have a weakness for floral perfumes, and it’s not even a joke. Jerome Di Marino has an excellent creative process as well. I admire how he not only acknowledges the essence of individual notes but also considers their interactions with other ingredients.     I love how Steven talks about how this is a tranquil and it was created to be a positive fragrance and that it is not overwhelmed by the citrus and its a unique fragrance to him and a very versatile. I love how Jerome works with raw materials to create a sent that people would not expect the ingredients to create and I would love to try this unique scent. I live in the US.     Remarkable career for his age , Jerome di Marino himself telling us how the raw materials are always his starting point , and what he went through to get create Kind Intentions was a delight.
    Michelyn intro also reminded me of…Me , my younger version, living in Paris, and trying to fulfill my dreams of becoming a Classically trained Pastry Chef , like Jerome I’m more than grateful to be a student of a all time great Pastry Chef like Master Pierre Hermé. In their own fields Pierre Hermé, and Francis Kurkdjian are true royalties.
    Kind Intentions I’ll be happy to win , Steven take on the fragrance made me think of giving my girlfriend Iris bouquet, and bought eating Vanilla Cupcakes, drinking freshly squeezed Mandarin juice while sitting on a table right next to the beach.
    A lot of famous perfumers worked with Navitus, not just Jerome di Marino. I wonder what he cooked, something awesome i believe because Jorge Lee did great with Vivamor and Serenade.
    Vivamor smells a bit like Pineapple Upside Down Cake with saffron. Serenade reminds me of Chocolate Ganache Cognac Cake, with candied orange peel on top.
    Almost forgot, Jerome di Marino made Une Nuit Nomade Ambre Khandjar I own.

    Kind Intentions sounds like a nice take on labdanum and tobacco, bringing in fruity aspects and some white florals. Michelyn’s introduction to Navitus Perfumes and Jerome di Marino’s work was helpful—I missed his earlier profile on CaFluereBon and appreciated the context. Marino’s approach to materials combinations is interesting; he simultaneously focuses on similarities and unexpected contrasts. Stephen’s comments about Kind Intentions being “uplifting, but not effervescent” caught my attention. Effervescent fragrances are often very citrus-heavy and that’s not the focus here. I’m most curious about the subtle seaweed note and how it combines with the resinous vanilla and amber elements.

    Happy to know Kind Intentions is made already accomplished perfumer like Jerome di Marino , with interesting credentials, thanks for the introduction.
    Just like Jerome di Marino I had mentors i was able to rely on, and never lost the faith that I’d succeed. He went through a lot, but I’m happy he found his happy place in Mane.After all like in the old saying “It does not matter how slowly you go , as long as you don’t stop” ..
    I’d love to win Kind Intentions ,not sugary sweet tropical floral fragrance, all free-spirited fragrance fans could wear , and enjoy the scent especially during the warmer weather. Steven review was like a vacation to non inhabitant tropical island, the jasmine , creamy iris , woods and amber i like the most.
    Aubade (Lyrik) is collaboration between Julien Rasquinet and Dominique Ropion is the best Navitus fragrance I’ve smelled . In my husband and mine, mostly shared fragrance collection, there’s already 3 Navitus fragrances Aubade (Lyrik) , The Embrace and Navus.

    The notes and the smell is different, but Navitus Kind Intentions shares some characteristics with Vivamor, both all-purpose , pleasing all year round fragrances anyone could wear on regular basis.
    Kind Intentions is less sweeter , and better suited for business meetings . I like the way it develops , especially the iris , incense and vanilla when it settles down.
    I like Jerome di Marino mindset, always staying in his lane, never looking back , leaning on contrasts and raw materials.
    Vivamor is my favorite Navitus Parfums

    I’m always ready for sensual, deep and rich Summer fragrances done right ✅
    Good music, long white sand beaches , freshly squeezed juices , positive energy all are part of the special Summer sensation coming from Kind Intentions.
    I think it’s also versatile fragrance , I can wear it going on dates too , Summer music festivals, and so on.
    What also excited me about Kind Intentions, is how Jerome added more resinous notes , and even incense making it even more irresistible.
    If such super talented, and famous perfumer like Francis Kurkdjian took him under his shoulder , he definitely saw the bright future in Jerome Di Marino early on.
    From Navitus I’m happy to have Absolutio , and Vivamor, compliments galore from both , each and every time.

    The perfumers do make the difference, not IFF , Givaudan, Takasago or MANE …… well at least until the times when AI’s will take full control of the creative process.
    Navitus Parfums fragrances are all made with quality ingredients, and composed by renowned perfumers . They are getting more and more traction lately in the fragrance community, and both the new premium line , and Vivamor sub-brand are steps in the right direction. In my opinion they make the whole range of fragrances exceptionally well , from gourmands to florals , and I guess Kind Intentions takes the best of both genres.
    I really like Jerome di Marino, I remember how he never wanted to settle for a clerk job at Givenchy. Empyreal is a great fragrance I own , and I like the inside information of how he made it, and the way he likes combining raw materials for similarities and contrasting effects. The same approach was used for creating Kind Intentions, incense, vanilla and iris are not often used together in a warm weather fragrances.
    If I have to rate my favorite Navitus Parfums fragrances :
    1. Soir Exclusif
    2. Serenade/Empyreal
    3. Exralt Nuit/The Embrace
    And my favorite ones by Jerome di Marino
    1. Ambre Khandjar by Une Nuit Nomade
    2. Exalt Nuit/Empyreal by Navitus
    3. Lunar Vetiver by Amouroud

    Steven review was like a trip to the coasline in Calabria peninsula, I felt there surrounded by the the Mediterranean Sea.
    I like Jerome di Marino approach when creating a new fragrance , based on similarities , contrasts and unexpected effects of the raw materials.
    I find particularly interesting how Steven and Jerome di Marino described Kind Intentions in a different way .
    The nose -> smoky and ambery tones …. resinous tones of olibanum …. fruity gourmand facet …
    Steven on the other hand believes Kind Intentions is more floral, leaning on the iris , less smoky and not as sweet , as Jerome di Marino thinks.
    My favorite Navitus Parfums fragrance is Navus , my husband is into XO Brandy, Absolutio , and Vivamor .

    I loved Steven’s review of Kind Intentions. Everything from the presentation, name, to the serenity, tranqulity, and peaceful feeling it exudes with dominant from notes featuring Iris. A beautiful, versatile, and unisex presentation that sounds benevolent. JEROME DI MARINO of MANE insights into his creative process in his interview with Michelyn really expresses how this fragrance came to light along with his other beautiful creation Empyreal. The interplay of raw materials along with resinous Labdanum and that fruity gourmand leaning facet in Kind Intentions sounds amazing.     I quite literally couldn’t imagine a fragrance with a more compatible note structure to myself… As described by Steven seaweed is intimidating but when done properly can exude an unmatched freshness and would to experience to positive vibe he explains. Jerome seems to have a mindful relationship with the raw materials to bring out a unique combination of freshness and cleanliness here. I’m a fan of Paulina’s recommendations, and have been following her for quite sometime, which would make owning one this creation even more of a treat, I am a shameless aquatic lover and wish more people would be more open to see the beauty in these compositions!
