It may be November, but Steven and I are wearing Gallagher Fragrances Septamber on our wrists right now and plan to into “Decamber.” Before we discuss the perfume, I want to give a big shout out to the perfumer, the 2022 Art and Olfaction Award-Winning American artisan Daniel Gallagher. You will see in Steven’s video that Gallagher Septamber is compared with niche brands with big ad budgets; on equal par I may add. My experience with Septamber is it could easily be named “Novamber”, as the amber is warm and the honeyed maple, enhanced by the immortelle immediately bring to mind the perfect fragrance for Thanksgiving.

The evolution of Gallagher Fragrances Septamber follows the slow march of summer into fall and then into the chill of winter. The brightness of the neroli is like the last rays of summer sun, as the multi-hued autumnal foliage of amber, labdanum, maple and resinous benzoin are wrapped around a cozy winter blanket of vanilla. I imagine sipping a cup of tea or a glass of red wine as the smoke of a fireplace smolders. If Septamber was a song, it would be Sting’s 1993 Field Of Gold –Michelyn Camen, Editor-In-Chief

    Loved your review, Michelyn! And to pair the fragrance with a song – If Septamber was a song, it would be Sting’s 1993 Field Of Gold was brilliant!
    I really enjoyed Steven’s review, as well. It certainly sounds like an incredible scent for colder weather. I like that the amber note is described as being a bit more dry than sweet. And that there is just a hint of rose and tea in the formula. Overall, it sounds like a stellar fragrance. I’ve never owned a Gallagher fragrance so it would be wonderful to have this be my first one.

    I’m excited for this release. I’m a fan of GF and this one sounds amazing. Although I’m a fan of tea scents, I think I’m glad to hear this isn’t tea heavy. And MAPLE! Yay! In maryland.

    Great review as always, Michelyn. This fragrance, as you and Steven describe it, seems to be right up my alley. Furthermore, it has to be said, what an unique assortment of notes. I can count the amount of times I have heard of maple in a fragrance on one hand. Again, sounds lovely, and I sincerely hope I’ll be able to try it.

    Excellent review by Michelyn. describing amber as honeyed maple and warm spiked ny interest because I love that kind of amber.

    I liked Steven’s review too. This perfume sounds like an exciting amber for cold weather. Dry warm amber is my favorite. Tea and rose addition will be excellent as well. Based in the reviews it sounds like an excellent amber. I never tried this brand before although I have heard of others from Steven before.

    At first I thought the article made a mistake in the perfume name and then I learned that Gallagher Fragrances Septamber is a play on the fact that it is amber perfume. Steven says it is ambery with a balsamic, sweet side and he mentioned Amber Absolute as the fragrance Gallagher Fragrances Septamber may remind you of. I am in the US,

    Daniel Gallagher has created some of my favorite fragrances. I absolutely love Rose All Dae, Behold Patchouli, and Carpe Cafe. His fragrances are unique and high quality, so I was ecstatic when I learned of his newest release. As soon as I saw it was called Septamber and read the included notes, I knew I needed to try it as soon as it was released. Reading Michelyn’s description of Septamber makes me want it even more (if that’s possible)! The descriptors of warm amber and honeyed maple sound divine. It does sound like the perfect fragrance for Thanksgiving. The thought of sipping a cup of tea or a glass of red wine by the fireplace sounds incredibly comforting. Any fragrance that evokes this place and feeling is particularly tempting.

    The notes in Septamber sound delightful. I enjoy all of the included notes, especially black tea, amber, labdanum, maple, benzoin, and hay. I have been loving warm apricot fragrances lately, as well.

    Steven’s review was excellent, too. I’m happy to hear Septamber is sweet but not overdone. I do love “sticky” and “syrupy” qualities in fragrances. However, I am glad to hear that Steven thinks amber is the most prominent note in the fragrance. It sounds perfect for all of the colder months, which means almost half of the year where I live. I tend to prefer cold-weather fragrances and would love to have Septamber in my collection. Thank you, Steven, for pointing out the longevity and projection; it sounds perfect to me. I also enjoy Gallagher’s new bottles with the angular caps.

    I enjoyed both reviews.
    The fact that the name implies Amber, but is not super sweet, it makes me want to get this fragrance.
    Amber is one of those notes that can make a fragrance to ge loved or hated.

    I love apricot and feel it’s a bit underused as a note, maple is starting to become popular and this description sounds like just the ticket. Amber maple yes! I love that it brings in just a bit of those cozy familiars like rose and tea but isn’t heavily relying on them. Excited to try this! Opalbear in California

    Michelyn created a lovely image of drinking tea by the fireplace in her introduction of Septamber. And, Steven, true to his style, presented a glowing review of this perfume. I love the notes in Septamber. Looking at their website, they say neroli is the costliest ingredient in this perfume. Wow!! I love Steven’s video reviews and am a Redolessence subscriber. Thanks for Michelyn’s great introduction and Steven’s video review of Septamber. No experience with this brand, yet. I am from the USA.

    Oh WOW. This sounds beautiful. I’m a fan of Gallagher’s, the ones that I’ve tried don’t seem like are trying to simply follow trends, but each perfume is individually making their own way. I’d be thrilled to try Septamber, and Michelyn’s notation of reminding her of Fields of Gold aligns it with a certain peaceful, sepia ambiance.

    Steven’s description tells me that it’s an amber perfume through to the very end.

    Michelyn’s written review gave me cozy vibes. I imagined myself wearing this while sitting on the couch under a blanket on a chilly fall day cozied up by the fire. Steven’s review also gave me similar vibes when he described it as warm amber without too much sweetness. He always describes things so thoroughly.

    Ooh ambery golden goodness with apricot, tea, red wine, honey and oak wood. It’s all the colors of the changing leaves of autumn. Septamber sounds lovely and I understand Michelyn’s comparison to “Fields of Gold” although whenever I hear “September” I just think of Earth, Wind and Fire. I like Steven’s description of this as a dry, warm amber good for cooler weather. I also follow Cafleurebon on Instagram. MD, USA.

    I first watched Steven’s review and found it to be excellent as always. Although I do not currently own any Gallagher fragrances I have always been intrigued by some of the releases from the house and Septamber has really peaked my interest as it sounds like a great fragrance for the cooler weater and it contains some notes which are some of my favorites. I also thought that Michelyn’s review was excellent at describing the overall essence of this new fragrance and gave me a much clearer sense of exactly how it smells.     Gallagher Fragrances I discovered on Cafleurebon, I do like chocolate fragrances, I when I read The Best American Indie Perfume giveaway article from Michelyn, and watched Steven’s video, I had to order a sample , and later on a bottle of Wicked Good. Quite alluring, modern take on chocolate fragrance , smells like very expensive hand made Belgian chocolate, so realistic. Strictly cold weather through , I’m so happy to have it in my possession.
    Septamber is a less sweeter than Wicked Good, more resinous, smoky and ambery ,with wine and tea.
    “I imagine sipping a cup of tea or a glass of red wine as the smoke of a fireplace smolders.”
    Unlike in the younger years, I rarely drink lately, I’d prefer tea with fireplace smolders, and some fireworks afterwards.
    Septamber is happy moments only fragrance.

    The funny thing is I’m sampling Gallagher Mists of Time right now, there’s 2 sprays on my wrist, and I’m convinced I need a bottle …. and now you’re tempting me again 🙂
    Michelyn and Steven co-review of Septamber made me think of making, and later eating Challah French Toast stuffed with honeyed ricotta, topped with macerated peaches , powdered sugar, and maple syrup. Eating the Challah French Toast , with steamed black tea.
    Gallagher Fragrances do have some great gourmands , Rose All Dae is in my possession , I need a bottle of Mists of Time, and I’ll have to also sample Septamber because of your reviews

    I appreciate steven warning of all the scammers that are targeting giveaways lately because i have dealth with this problem myself. Steven described this as a sweet warm blanket of goodness and i am a lover of these types of warm amber scents for sure.

    I noticed Septamber in the resent Gallagher Fragrances newsletter and it sounds wonderful for an unseasonably warm—but surely cold soon—autumn. I absolutely love amber fragrances, but I don’t think I’ve tried one that makes use of maple, and hay is a sly note that makes many fragrances for me. I like Michelyn’s take on Septamber; a sweet, warm amber feels like sipping a warming dram while basking in the heat from a cozy fire. Especially one that uses so many gourmand notes. I’m glad Stephen spoke to that apricot focus, because I thought it might be overly sweet and fruity, but it sounds like the sweetness here is more warm and benzoin-driven. I’d love to try this one. Thank you both for the reviews.

    I am a huge fan of Mychelin and Steven, aka Redolessence and reading and watching another review by these 2 masters is just amazing.
    Gallagher fragrances are top notch in my opinion and Daniel is one of my favorite master perfumers, and it is also great knowing that he is american.
    I love neroli based fragrances and I love that this fragrance wants to express the transition from summer to fall, just amazing.

    Truly wowed by this one from Daniel and Mindy! The honeyed Amber/maple are delightfully heavy in the base! Black tea and apricot are more subtle, but definitely come out and say hello for the first few hours. The rose is layered right in between, bridging the two layers! It is truly a nice and cozy fall time fragrance that is up there with my top choices, and have gotten multiple compliments within the first week wearing it! 9/10 is my rating and would certainly recommend!

    I love that Steven explained the notes in detail. Describing the balance between the tea and the rose as little snippets that break through and adds smoothness sounds very interesting.

    I love Gallaghers take with this tea fragrance. The spices up top, along with the fruity notes and rose , could easily take this fragrance into super sweet territory. I love the use of Maple, amber, imortelle to complete the visual of fall.

    This sounds intoxicating in the best way possible. Hearing Michelyn compare it to “Fields of Gold” gave me an instant vision of relaxing in my window seat, sipping on something mulled and watching the colored leaves hit the ground as Sting plays in the background. Steven’s comments about its warm amber and balsamic syrupy notes making it the perfect winter fragrance makes me think this may be the perfect fragrance for me to try this holiday season.     What is better than wearing amber in autumn? Autumn definitely is my favorite season and, because of it’s transitional nature, a greater quantity and range of fragrances can be worn.     One of my favorite fragrances is a honeyed-vanillic amber so I’m interested in trying this fragrance from Gallagher Fragrances. I appreciate that both Michelyn and Steven mention that they both perceive vanilla in this fragrance. I’m interested to see what the notes in this fragrance are like, e.g. the maple, the apricot, and the red wine. Also, I like the combination of tobacco with hay in fragrances. I live in the U.S.A.     From Gallagher Fragrances I know Amongst Waves, Rose All Dae and Behold Patchouli. Currently I have Rose All Dae, and I had Amongst Waves 3 years ago , it was my go-to in the Summer of 19′.
    Septamber i like for its complexity, maple, resins and amber of highest quality, and the picture Michelyn drew in my mind , about the wine , tea and a fireplace.
    My favorite Gallagher Fragrances perfume is Rose All Dae

    Wonderful article! I thought Michelyn’s written review was beautiful in how she described it as following the timeline of the seasons – opening with the brightness of summer embodied in the vibrant neroli and then progressing into fall-like notes of warm golden amber, labdanum, and maple, before ending in the embodiment of winter with cozy and sweet vanilla. What a beautiful analogy and description for a fragrance.

    I thought Steven’s video review was very informative in how he describes the fleshy fruity “slightly saccharine” opening of peach and apricot , and how it perfectly flows into the syrupy, viscous, balsamic amber, which gives me a great idea how the fragrance will embody fall. I always enjoy how thorough and descriptive Steven’s video reviews are.

    Tom Ford Amber Absolute is iconic fragrance, and in the fragrance community is considered easily one of the best ambers ever made , I’m quite intrigued of Steven comparison, and Michelyn claim Septamber is on equal par .
    I like the slight contrast in our two contributors opinions:
    a) Opening, on the sweet side according to Steven, Michelyn mentioned bright neroli
    b) Apricot/peache ,rose, oakwood according to Steven only
    c) Red wine, according to Michelyn only . I hope I’ll be lucky to smell the wine myself.
    Septamber is quite interesting composition, Steven and Michelyn collaboration made me think of laid back family vacation in a secluded area in the woods. Family, nice cabin, hot tub and me drinking The English Christmas Punch , warm and inviting drink that’s perfect serving during colder weather. If you’re a liquor lover like me here’s the recipe:

    2 cups Seasonal fruits , preferably pomegranate and red berries
    3 cups Tea, strong
    1/2 cup Lemon juice
    2 cups Sugar
    1/2 cup Orange juice
    1 x 750 ml bottle Red wine, preferably dry
    1 x 750 ml bottle Rum

    I own Amongst Waves , my favorite Gallagher perfume.
