Autumn fragrances to wear right now photo by Steven©
September 22,2022, the autumnal equinox is the time in the earth’s annual cycle around the sun in which day and night are equal in length. Fall feels like spring in reverse, with flowers wilting instead of blooming.-Michelyn Camen, Editor-in-Chief

Part 2 of our favorite autumn fragrances for 2022 (read Part 1 here and check back soon for the winners). All five are co-curated by Steven and Michelyn.
Tom Ford Tobacco Vanille is one of our favorite Autumn fragrances because of its unexpected twist of cigar tobacco and spices which adds depth to a rich, but never overtly sweet vanilla with an amber drydown It is the kind of lusciously warm fragrance that smells great on skin, as well as scent trail lingers on your sweater. -Michelyn and Steven
Xerjoff Casamorati1888 Lira (Chris Maurice) composed in 2011 is one of my most loved gourmand fragrances, and I have gone through three bottles. Blood orange is dipped in caramel, as jasmine blossom and rose petals swirl around of aromatic bergamot, and lavender. Deeper tones are added by cinnamon, vanilla and musk. Lira has a memorable scent trail, and great longevity. Honestly, I wear it all year round, but it really is my go-to in the fall and winter-Michelyn (available at Twisted Lily)
StrangeLove NYC deadofnight (Christophe Laudamiel): The brand launched in 2014 at Harrods’ Salon de Parfums with one pure perfume oil- deadofnight. This animalic oud is for those who like their ouds, well, oudy. The signature ingredient is used generously in its composition; in addition to the cool name deadofnight is a wonderful mix of real oud, Damask rose, natural violet leaves, vanilla balsam, and other natural ingredients as well as unusual synthetics, such as paradisone and wolf wood (used in MUGLER Aura for reference and has a dry woody like vibe). Sustainable oud is used in every perfume and each is composed by multi award-winning perfumer extraordinaire, and provocateur Christophe Laudamiel – Michelyn
INeKE Field Notes in Paris: (Ineke Ruhland): Sometimes a great perfume evokes memories with a single spritz. For me, that is the case with INeKE Field Notes From Paris. The last time I was in Paris it was the Fall of 2009. On a crisp, sunny afternoon, I went to an outdoor café near the 6th arrondissement to meet a business associate. Plans were canceled but I did meet a man. He starting flirting with me, the way only Parisian men can get away with. Ironically Field Notes from Paris by Ineke Ruland was launched in 2009 the same year of my encounter. While I never saw Jacques (if it was his real name) again, 13 years later in Fall 2022, I dab Ineke Field Notes From Paris on my wrist and remember that day, just as it was, leaves turning colors as I sipped coffee with a stranger.
If you haven’t tried the INeKE brand, you are missing some of the most beautiful fragrances on the market, composed by a classically trained, now artisan perfumer who taught marketing at ISPICA to Yann Vasnier. Notes: Coriander Seed, Orange Flower, Bergamot, Tobacco Flower & Leaf, Patchouli, Cedar, Tonka Bean, Leather, Beeswax, Vanilla – Michelyn
Gallagher Fragrances Rosé Noir (Daniel Gallagher) 2022: Cinnamon, apples, oud and leather…can autumn fragrances get any better? -Steven
Redolessence and ÇaFleureBon were among the first YouTube video content creators and perfume sites to featured Gallagher Fragrances (his now discontinued Evergreen Dream was featured in our 2017 Best Autumn Fragrances by our Editor Emeritus Robert Hermmann, who passed away October 1, 2019). I turned to Daniel Gallagher (who was 123rd in our profiles in American Perfumery series) the Art and Olfaction award-winning artisan perfumer for his inspiration for Rosé Noir. “I wanted to make a more serious Rosé All Daé. Rosé All Daé is sweet, fun, and playful. I wanted to put forth a darker version. My thought process to achieve this immediately went to leather, but I had recently received some Oud Assafi™ (sourced from Bangladesh and is born of a collaborative partnership between Jalali Agarwood and Firmenich) and had been testing out different proportions of different leather accords I worked up alongside the Oud Assafi™. I eventually landed on what is featured in Rosé Noir, combining it with the core formula of Rosé All Daé. The leather featured in Rosé Noir is meant to convey a somewhat-weathered black leather as opposed to a brown or suede leather. Even the sugary effect present in Rosé All Daé is now a more charred sugar in Rosé Noir”. -Daniel Gallagher
