Initio Parfums Musk Therapy Review (2021) + Synesthetic Journey Draw

Intitio Parfums Musk Therapy review

Initio Parfums Musk Therapy by Olya Bar©

Imagine falling into the softest and fluffiest cloud while eating the most delicious creamsicle. This is what Initio Parfums Musk Therapy feels like to me. The latest release by Initio Parfums is part of the Hedonist collection. A sensual experience; it is an addictive vibration of creaminess and comfort that makes me feel completely enveloped in its musky embrace. Everything about it says I AM HERE FOR YOU.

My love affair with musk-centered perfumes did not begin until only a few years ago. It was quite a drastic change. One day after testing a fragrance based of musk and aldehydes, I realized that not only did I not run to wash it off, on the contrary I wanted to bury my nose in my wrist and continue to inhale the addictive fragrance for the rest of the day. I needed to go through the olfactory growth curve to understand the many different aspects of musk which can smell of skin or smell of sweat and sex. I began to understand the many facets and scent profiles of musk, so as loyal fan of Initio Parfums, I knew that Musk Therapy would not disappoint but did not expect it to take me on an a synesthetic journey of the senses, a Zen-like total body and mind escape.

Musk Therapy by Intitio Parfums

Musk Therapy Olya Bar©

Initio Parfums Musk Therapy is both psychological and physical hedonism. The journey opens up with a juicy blast of blackcurrant, and mandarin promises a mouthwatering and carefree creamsicle flavor. The heart reveals a blossoming white magnolia and cassis resting peacefully on the bed of ultra-creamy white sandalwood and finally the gentle ruler of the whole composition – a blend of white and pink musk. A particular magic-like temperament is threaded throughout the perfume, creating a velvety soft texture.  I find this Extrait de Parfum leans slightly more feminine and smells absolutely breathtaking on me, as my skin pulls all the creamy woodsy accords. There is a dual personality at play as if two very different women embraced in a playful dance.  One brings fire, optimism, and the explosion of the taste buds, while the other brings calmness, balance, and peace. Musk Therapy is effortlessly chic; its essence  rooted in pleasure. It is not trying to be anything; it is not. It’s a fragrance created solely to make YOU feel good. After all, fragrance is experiential, essentially centered around hedonism and Initio Parfums Musk Therapy lives up to its name.

Notes: Bergamot, Mandarin, White Magnolia, Blackcurrant, White Sandalwood, White Musk, Pink Musk.

The combination of musk an black currents are common in modern perfumery but the hedonistic collection will definitely be different. I find the review very transparent and only leaves me excited even more about trying it

  • Olya! Gorgeous review! Thank you! ❤️
Although not familiar with Initio Parfums, I look forward to getting to know this house! I like that they value all possible ingredients & give creative attention/spotlight to synthetics (instead of hiding them from the buyer). They even have an “all natural” perfume, Rehab.
As for Musk Therapy, how perfect! I am currently trying to educate myself about musk! I aim for what Olya stated so well, “I needed to go through the olfactory growth curve to understand the many different aspects of musk which can smell of skin or smell of sweat and sex.” Musk Therapy sounds heavenly. I am especially attracted to the cassis, magnolia & musk combination. Thank you to CaFleureBon, FineFragrances, & Initio Parfums for this fantastic opportunity! Good luck to everyone! USA

  • I really enjoyed Olya’s description of her experience with musk over time. There are a lot of notes that I enjoy now that I didn’t used to (including vanilla, in fact!). I could very much relate. I have tried Oud for Greatness, Psychedelic Love, and Side Effect. I am a huge fan of the last two in particular. Would love to try this one too. It has been on my “to-sample” list for a while! Cheers from NC, USA.

I’m a Taurus so I’m naturally a hedonist who likes to feel good :-). I’ve been curious to try a few Initio fragrances that I’ve been hearing about : Oud for greatness, Side effect, Rehab and psychedelic love being the top 4. I really appreciate how Olya describes her evolution as I am a novice sniffer and have noticed that certain notes are quickly going from “intolerable” to “kind of liking.” For example; I’m just starting to get past powdery scents association with feminine hygiene products that were initially a deal breaker. It’s fascinating to me how we can change our tastes so quickly. I’d be tickled to win this bottle, Thank you from Brooklyn, USA.

  • I have never heard a fragrance described in such a way. I have heard good things about Musk Therapy but never heard it portrayed so amazingly. It makes me want to try it right this instance. In maryland.

  • The pictures and writing in Olya’s review of Initio Parfums Musk Therapy convey a very comforting, joyful perfume. For example -“sensual experience; it is an addictive vibration of creaminess and comfort that makes me feel completely enveloped in its musky embrace. Everything about it says I AM HERE FOR YOU.” And then, describing the well-balanced yin and yang of Musk Therapy, she says – “There is a dual personality at play as if two very different women embraced in a playful dance. One brings fire, optimism, and the explosion of the taste buds, while the other brings calmness, balance, and peace.” While musk, sandalwood, bergamot, etc are common ingredients, it seems Initio has blended them masterfully in Musk Therapy. Not much experience with Initio Parfums. Thanks for the review and a generous draw. From USA.

  • Olya says that musk and aldehydes play a major role in Musk Therapy. She adds that musk has several layers so she had to smell the perfume several times to understand different aspects of musk in the composition. USA.

  • joshuabrian says:

The notes seems quite lovely! I’ve heard of side effects of course, but never smelled it. From USA

  • Dubaiscents says:

I also keep a select collection of aldehydic, fruity musks around because I find them so comforting right before bed and just as a stress reliever. Initio’s version sounds heavenly and I’d love to try it. Plus the matte white bottle looks so elegant. I have sniffed some of their scents but haven’t found one that works for me – yet! Thanks for the draw. US

  • Olya’s review about Initio Parfums Musk Therapy has me wanting to experience the feelings of when using this fragrance. I love musk . I never sampled a Fragrance from this house. Thank you for this Chance. USA

  • Oh my goodness, everything in this review made me want to try Musk Therapy! Olya’s description almost made me blind buy this fragrance. I have never tried Initio Parfums but would love to try High Frequency one day, after Musk Therapy of course. ~Indiana, USA

  • I would love to have a bottle of MuskTherapy. Have heard many great reviews on it.
Have sampled Side Effect and liked it.USA

  • I think the author explained it well and would agree based off the sample that it’s purely a creamy woody comforting scent. It’s good for what it is and that’s a very well refined minima musk scent. Initio is my favorite house and I’ve tried them and own most of them. They really are top shelf beautiful fragrances.

  • I am most drawn to Olya’s description of falling into a creamy cloud of comfort while wearing Musk Therapy, unable to stop sniffing her wrist. I have not yet had the pleasure of experiencing any from the house but according to their website, I would love to try Rehab. Thanks for the giveaway. KY/USA.

  • Olya’s review made me rethink about sampling this fragrance! I always kinda liked how it sounds but after reading how zen-like this fragrance is I think I need it in my collection. She described it perfectly. Additionally I love magnolia and sandalwood. I’m from Illinois, US.

  • I feel like I’m walking a similar path to Olya, in that I’ve just now found out about minimalist fragrances and I love them!! Initio has pretty great scents and they all perform, so I would love to get my nose on Musk Therapy. Seems like a relaxing fragrance when my nose feels burnt out. The only one I own from Initio is Oud for Greatness…yeah jumped on that hype train, but I don’t regret it! Thanks for the chance to win, from Idaho USA

  • Fantastic review as always Olya! I’m also a loyal fan of initio scents. They are such unique and longer lasting scents. Absolutely stunning. You had me sold on musk therapy at “ Zen-like total body and mind escape” in today’s environment definitely need one! Thanks for the giveaway. I live in MN, USA

  • I enjoyed very much how Olya described the scent and texture. This sounds like a wonderful fragrance and id absolutely love to try it. Ive tried Side Effect, Psychedelic Love, and Atomic Rose from Initio and Side Effect is my favorite. Thanks so much for the generous draw. From the U.S.

  • sephrenia300 says:

Great post Olya! What I enjoyed most about the review is the description of Musk Therapy as both psychological and physical hedonism. Physical hedonism because of it’s sensual sexiness, but also psychological hedonism because of the comfort and soothing quality it strives to bring. I love that this perfume emphasizes the duality of the two and how they play off of and enhance each other, rather than being polar opposites that cannot exist at the same time. That it’s not just meditation, asceticism, and solemnity that’s restful and soothing. Passion and indulgence, pure physical joy, can be good for the soul too – the ultimate self care. Musk Therapy embodying both at the same time is something that really appeals to me, especially in this time of crisis and upheaval.

I have tried Psychedelic Love and High Frequency and am a fan of both. I would still really like to try Oud for Greatness, Rehab, Atomic Rose, and of course Musk Therapy. I live in the US.

  • Olya nailed it, Musk Therapy is absolutely ethereal! This is such a unique and clean take on musk. Just her description alone makes me wish I was wearing it! I have tried Initio before. I’m a big fan of Psychedelic Love and Atomic Rose in particular! The scent bubbles of Initio fragrances is something else. Thanks to Fine Fragrances for the giveaway! WA, USA

  • Thank you Olya for the wonderful journey I’ve been able to enjoy while taking in your detailed review. I love your love affair with this fragrance. My love affair with my favorite fragrances is the same. I just cannot seem to remove my nose from my wrist throughout the day, when certain scents draw my entire self into what they have to offer. At times, I almost feel as though I am cheating on those around me…stealing away time just to get one more smell.
I am a fan of Oud for Greatness and Side Effect. My wife and I both share these fragrances. She has had her interest (and nose) on Musk Therapy. This would be a great addition to our collection. Again, thank you 🙂 US

  • Fraghead Summy says:

Amazing review Olya. I have not tried any perfume of this house yet, but given a chance i would love to try out Blessed Baraka from their absolutes collection.

Olya has wonderfully pictured the whole scent, into words. I loved how beautifully sandalwood goes along with the musks, which seems like a perfect night time fragrance for me. Would love to try this out. From USA

  • Thank you Olya for the review and FineFragrances for the kind draw. I imagined a creamy envelope of goodness after reading Olya’s words and incidentally just smelled a new magnolia based fragrance yesterday so this note is still fresh in my mind. I’ve tried and loved Side Effect from Initio Parfums and it sounds like I would cheat on it with Musk Therapy 🙂 I’m in USA

  • Fantastic review by Olya, I enjoyed all what she said about “Musk Therapy” by Initio Parfums, and what I really will remember when I try this fragragrance that it’s breathtaking, velvety soft, creamy Extra it de Parfum with dual personality…. Well described!!! Thanks for generosity FineFragrances .
    I’m in USA

  • Olya’s review makes me very intrigued… Love it!! Oud for greatness is special, so I’m sure musk therapy is as well!! Still need to get my nose on side effect but I definitely will ASAP!!

  • I love a musk based fragrance and enjoyed the image of two sides of a woman or two completely different woman locked in a dance as a description of this scent. I feel like there are to complete sides to my personality sometimes, in a good way I hope, so I would definitely love to try this. I live in the USA

  • Analicia Martin says:

I mean everything Olya does is perfect! I especially love how she captures her images, they always turn out so dreamy and beautiful! I love the image with the creamsicle in a cup, it’s perfect! Also her reviews are like poems, she really has a way with words! She essentially makes me want everything she reviews or posts!

I have already fallen in love with Inito as a brand. I’ve tried multiple scents and can’t get over the quality, blend, and performance of the range. I have Oud For Greatness and it never disappoints, one of my top 5 in my collection.

  • Don’t recall ever hearing of pink musk so that should be interesting to smell.
Not yet tried any Initio. US

  • IvanVelikov says:

    Nice review Olya
Musk Therapy is right up my alley kind of fragrance, not overly aggressive, cozy , slightly sweet, with creamy sandalwood. True hedonistic fragrance i’d love to win.
I know 4 Initio Parfums fragrances , and in my possession is 7.5ml travel sprayer of Side Effect , my favorite.
    Thank you all
    USA

  • I love the idea of the duality described in the review: a fiery explosion along with calmness and peace. Citrus and musk does sound effortlessly chic. I have not experienced anything from Initio but Psychedelic Love interests me because of the myrrh note. I’m in Texas, US.

  • kalexander1710 says:

I love the part of Olya’s review where they say, “ Imagine falling into the softest and fluffiest cloud while eating the most delicious creamsicle.” Omg do I most definitely want to experience that.
I haven’t tried any fragrances from Initio Parfums before but Blessed Baraka, Absolute Aphrodisiac, High Frequency, and Psychedelic Love all sound like fragrances I would enjoy.

  • I own oud for greatness and it lives up to its name.
I could use a little musk therapy in my life lol
    Great visuals

  • April King (aprilsmellsgood) says:

Her review takes you on a scent journey… I love that. I love Initio’s Rehab.. its dreamy as well. I really want to try this one as well

  • This fragrance sounds like one both my wife and I can wear. I’ll have to get some samples! What I enjoyed most is Olya’s take and how she says this is a fragrance to make you feel good. We all need this fragrance right now with everything going on in the world. I’ve tried Initio Parfums Rehab and Side Effect. I love Rehab – such a nice tobacco. USA

  • Olya’s review took me right along on the synesthetic journey. The creaminess and the wood with the musk sounds divine. I need this kind of therapy! I haven’t been able to even sniff any Initio Parfums, but I would really love to try Mystic Experience. The combination of notes, the promise of unsettling those around me and the statement of purpose (“for the initiated on a quest for transcendent experiences”) Wow. I am in the US.

  • Thank you, Olya! This fragrance is “created solely to make YOU feel good.” Hedonism and selfish enjoyment are underrated. 🙂 I gravitate to citrus, cassis, and sandalwood so think this sounds amazing with the musks. I had not heard of Initio Parfums until this review and would love to indulge in Musk Therapy. NC USA

  • DulciusExAsperis says:

This sounds absolutely gorgeous! I’m a bit obsessed with musk myself at the moment and am on the hunt for the perfect musk. I think during the current climate we are all looking for a little comfort – and based on the review this fragrance sounds like it offers just that. Comfort and serenity and pleasure. I haven’t tried Initio before. I’m in the USA.

  • Jmmcmenamin says:

I’d love to try a fragrance with white musk. It’s not my typical scent, but the description of it being creamy makes me think the sometimes pungent musk scent has been softened with the floral. Plus, it’s described as “therapy” – and we could all use some of that in 2021. I have not tried Initio before, but would like to try Musk Therapy. In Louisiana USA.

  • Merrysovery says:

Hello! Love this review and have had the pleasure of sampling it. Agree with the description that it is very zen – I’m not typically a musk fan but loved this perfume! There is something very sensual about it.

  • Susan Dragon says:

What I enjoyed most about Olya’s review were her well-chosen, vivid word choices evoking a sense that I really could experiencing this fragrance through words. Also, mentioning the fruity top notes contrasting with the sandalwood is intriguing, not to mention adding that it will bring “calmness, balance and peace.” And, who wouldn’t want that at this moment in time.

  • My nose is still developing but I absolutely love Musk. The combination of black current and Musk is also a great combination. Olya’s review really has me excited about this one. USA

  • I’ve had some great experiences with mush perfumes and some not so great ones. Perhaps, like Olya, I need to seek out musk-centric fragrances with aldehydes to tricky appreciate the enveloping, comforting scent. I’ve not tried any Inito fragrances before, but I’m intrigued by all in the Hedonist Collection. I’m in MD, USA.

  • Amanda32828 says:

Lovely review, truly enjoyable, something about it make me feel somewhat relax and comfy.
I’ve smelled many of the Initio fragrances. I’m crazy about Oud for Greatness but then again who isn’t. I think everyone love Oud for Greatness. Another one from Initio that I truly love is Atomic Rose, someday soon I hope to own those two. I can’t wait to try this one too. Thank you for a beautiful review. Commenting from Orlando, Fl.

  • Velvety soft texture is what grabbed me about the description for Musk Therapy. That perfectly describes what I look for in a fragrance. I have tried a few Initio Fragrances and enjoy Absolute Aphrodisiac. Thanking you from NY for the review and draw!

  • I never tried any of Initio fragrance but love to test Side Effect and other. The musk have mandarin and white magnolia that will you make feel great in the summer. I am in CA USA

  • Ahh…Initio Parfums <3 I adore how Olya describes the perfume…specifically the magic-like temperament she describes as being threaded throughout the perfume. The velvety soft texture described sounds amazing. I have tried Initio Side Effect and Oud for Greatness. Both are amazing! This one however sounds so nice. I love mangnolia, sandalwood and musk notes. <3 Thank you for this incredible opportunity! I live in the USA.

  • I liked it when she said that this perfume is for you and for you only! I wear fragrances according to how I feel anyway, but the fact that this is made to be like a spa, to feel just blissful, I dig that.
I did try it along with others from the brand, this one stood out the most from what I have tried, so I am really excited! I wish I won it 🙂
The other one that I love and own is Oud for greatness. This one is Musk for heaven!

  • redwheelbarrow says:

From the name I wouldn’t have expected black currant, mandarin, and creamsicle. I love your comparison of this fragrance to two different women. I love musk but find that I am anosmic to some forms of musk and I have not yet pinpointed what exactly it is that I cannot smell. But this sounds lovely with so much more going on than musk – perhaps that’s the therapy aspect – and I would love to try it. I have only sampled Oud for Greatness and found it to be pretty amazing. Thank you for the draw. I am in the US.

  • Multifaceted fragrance with a high compliment factor. Being a vain man I need to smell good, but also compliments are important to me.
With Musk Therapy I’ll get a lot of positive attention, smelling amazing. Blackcurrant
creamsicle , with woody accords i can’t go wrong with.
Side Effect with its boozy tobacco touches i had the pleasure of smelling last Winter, and now have the small atomizer.
    Overly exciting giveaway, USA
    Regards

  • I’ve certainly heard of this fragrance house many times but their fragrances are not affordable for me for a while now, so I haven’t gotten to try anything from them yet; I might try samples of many of their releases. Some of the releases of theirs which I’d like to try are: “Rehab”, “Side Effect”, “Oud For Greatness”, and more. I believe that I could learn more about musks by means of this fragrance. I live in MD., U.S.A.

  • wallygator88 says:

Thank you for the beautiful review Olya!

I love floral musks and I enjoyed how raw and unabashed this review is. Like you, I too want to dig my nose into my hand whenever I smell a musk that I enjoy.

My favourites are Kiehl’s Musk and Narcisco Rodrigues For Him EdT and EdP.

    Cheers from WI, USA

  • Michael Prince says:

What I enjoyed about Olya’s review of Initio Parfums Musk Therapy is learning how her palate has expanded over time and how she now enjoys musk based fragrances. I am huge fan of the brand Initio based on the fragrances I have tried. My favorite has to be Initio Side Effect. I really want to try Oud For Greatness, Rehab, and Musk Therapy. I am from the USA.

  • I’ve had a recent thing looking for a fluffy clean musk or a white musk that I’ll love. I’ve been partial to those animalic musks, but with the creaminess of this one, I’m definitely intrigued! I haven’t tried anything from this house before but it sounds like they have some very good ones in their lineup. I can’t decide between Atomic Rose and Oud for Greatness! I live in the USA. Thanks for the giveaway!

  • Olya review was great.. it sounds very intriguing, creamy wooday accords on skin No i haven’t but i know bf wants oud for greatness ASAP LoL Ohio USA Good luck & thanks for introducing us!!!

  • Like Olya, Musky fragrances were not ever something I gravitated toward until last winter when I just wanted to be comforted and warm. That’s what musk fragrances are to me now. They absolutely have a place in my collection. I only have a couple so I’m happy to learn about this one. My favorite part of Olya’s review is when she talks about Musk Therapy having a dual personality. I would like to smell that. The only Intio fragrance that I’m familiar with is Side Effect. Musk Therapy is the one I would like to try. Thanks for the giveaway! In the USA.

  • Olya, you pulled a quick pun on us with your description of Musk Therapy as “an addictive vibration”, didn’t you? I smiled while reading because Initio Addictive Vibration is one of my absolute favorites from this house. And, I’ll take your word for it that Musk Therapy is as addictive. Great review as always from Olya. VA, USA

  • Olya Bar take on Musk Therapy reminded me of my days living in Paris, trying to fulfill my dreams of becoming Pastry Chef. I imagined eating Cassis Mousse Cake, drinking freshly squeezed mandarin juice in one particular Patisserie in Montmartre , in some hot summer evening. Musc Therapy sounds great.
“The journey opens up with a juicy blast of blackcurrant …. The heart reveals ……and cassis”
Olya and Cafleurebon, be aware this could, and probably will confuse a lot of people. In most cases, the two words, blackcurrant and cassis are interchangeable, but also depends where you’re from, country or even regions. Some call cassis the plant, some different liqueurs, predominantly Crème De Cassis, some the whole flavor. In US in the wine industry most know cassis as whine flavor.
By the way while highly popular in Europe, especially France, Spain , Belgium, Switzerland and Portugal, not a lot of people in US know the taste, or even seen cassis before because of a ban, lasted long decades, that was lifted just a few years ago.
As a Pastry Chef I make Cassis cakes, and other dessert on private orders only. My customers are predominantly Americans, and I tend to believe most are not found of the cassis taste.
The only Initio Parfums I know is Side Effect, smells similar to Vanilla Bean Bundt Cake , drizzled with Rum. It’s a gorgeous fragrance, and is in my winter wish list to buy.
Appreciate the review, and the giveaway campaign

I like that it is a perfume made to make you feel good. Also, the fact that it is described a having a dual personality. I have tried Rehab and Side Effect. Side Effect is incredible! Hawaii USA

  • I’ve smelled some of my little brothers frangences from this particular and I have to say so far I have been impressed, by the tantalizing review above I think I will be impressed with this offering also. Kudos to the reviewer.. colorado springs, co USA

  • Musk Therapy sounds so fun and carefree, clean and fruity musk , with cassis and mandarin, and creamy woody accords. Like Olya, I would gladly embrace the playful dance 🙂
I know Rehab , the other part of the Hedonist collection. My husband used to own it, but he finished the whole bottle. The fragrance smells very different on his, and on my skin. On him is really spicy, woody aromatic, but on me smells a lot sweeter, soft and kind of similar to Lavender French Hard Candy from L’Ami Provencal i buy from Amazon for $20.
Since it’s Saturday, and we’re on fun musky Cassis theme, I’d like to say Cheers to all Cafleurebon readers ,and contributors with Lejay Crème de Cassis de Dijon Liqueur , 20% version of course.
    Top opportunity, thanks

  • I’m well familiar with Initio Parfums fragrances. If I have to share my favorite ones:
    1. Side Effect
    2. Oud for Greatness
    3. Absolute Aphrodisiac/Musk Therapy
I don’t find Musk Therapy leaning feminine, but that’s just me. I like fruity, musky and woody fragrances. To me the fragrance is a lot sweeter, than I expected, performance is awesome. I also think it’s all year round fragrance.
I’m die hard extrovert, I’m happy, smiling and feeling good almost all the time. Of course having such high end fragrance like Musk Therapy will make me smile even more.
    All profiles I already follow
    Thanks a lot

  • I’d like to thank Michelyn for picking non-American contributor for Musk Therapy review , because of the cassis. Every time when there’s cassis in a fragrance, and American is doing the review, I’m reading the same thing over and over , comparisons with cat … , and how there’s something animalic in the fragrance because of the cassis.
I drink cassis juice every single day, I love the taste, and I use shrub’s fruit and leaves for therapeutic and medicinal purposes – they are proven to provide relief for coughs and colds, sore throats and act as a diuretic. It’s one of the ‘super-fruits’ for a reason.
Europeans are very familiar with the cassis flavour as an ‘everyday taste’ that’s most associated with Spirits (Ribena, if you’re a Brit , or you grew upin UK like me), juices, yogurts, cough sweets and desserts. By contrast in US, it’s a surprising fact that the very same currant was the subject of an agricultural ban lasting for much of the 20th century.
Jams, drinks, crème de cassis, vinegars, fruit jellies, , mustards, vodka , and so on you can make from cassis, most are nowhere to be found stateside
The review was so well done , makes me wanna smell Musc Therapy ASAP. Cassis and musk fragrance, created sorely to make ME feel good , I’m in.
I’m happy to have Oud for Greatness in small 7.5ml sprayer. Savory and sweet oud combo, with patchouli. Classy fragrance
