NEW MILANO FRAGRANZE DEBUTS (Dominique Moelhausen, Michelle Moellhausen, Violaine Collas, Julie Masse) 2021+Alessandro Brun Takes Us to Milan Draw

 Scents of place. No one born and bred in a city can walk the streets, enter a building, see a garden, attend a concert and not want to bottle each story. Creative director Alessandro Brun, best known for Masque Milano, has done just that with the new MILANO FRAGRANZE, eight distinctive fragrances, previewed to a select group of perfume lovers around the world via Google Meet on June 24, 2021. The inaugural line was created by four women perfumers.

I have traveled to Milano for Esxence and attended the launches of Masque Milano L’Atessa, Romanza, and Tango. I was so busy at the vendors’ stalls that I didn’t have time nor did I study the rich history and sites of Milan (including the oldest church Milan Basilica originally built in Roman Times of 355 A.D. and the first shopping center Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II completed in 1865). Prior to the Google Meet, ÇaFleureBon Video Content Journalist Contributor Steven Gavrielatos of Redolessence interviewed Alessandro via ZOOM early this week and Alessandro discussed the origin story of each fragrance as Steven spoke about his first impressions.

 Spoiler: These are the four favorites of both Steven and Michelyn:

MILANO FRAGRANZE NAVIGLIO: As Alessandro told Steven, every Italian fragrance line starts with at least one great cologne! NAVIGLIO suggests the working-class men washing their clothes in the canal.  With notes of lavender, bergamot and vetiver, this wears more fresh citrus then soapy. (Michelle Moelhausen)

MILANO FRAGRANZE LA PRIMA: Opera- a subject Alessandro Brun knows well. In LA PRIMA he imagined a young lady wearing red lipstick and a fur stole attending her first opera. Her beauty sets her apart from the wealthy older women in the balcony. LA PRIMA is a profusion of sensual flowers: Jasmine, Orange Blossom and Osmanthus take center stage. MILANO FRAGRANZE BRERA: Every fragrance collection needs an outstanding rose/patchouli perfume and this one is exuberantly spiced with saffron. In 2015, I went to the Pinacoteca di Brera Museum just so I could see the famous painting Il Bacio  by Francesco Hayez. Wearing MILANO FRAGRANZE BRERA, I imagine the couple stepping out of the painting and coming to life when the museum closes to the public. (Violaine Collas).

    I love Steven’s videos, he is an amazing person and very knowledgeable. I was very exited when I saw his interview with Alessandro Brun. Masque Milano is one of my absolute favorite brands and I am so so very excited to try his new MILANO FRAGRANZE line. I also love how these are inspired with Milan, which is an amazing city I really love visiting. Out of the current fragrances, the one I would choose is BASILICA, because I just adore incense fragrances. Particularly those which are not too smoky and too churchy, just like this one. Also, I have to comment that these bottles are insanely beautiful! I’m from Illinois, US.

    Steven is by and away one of the most consistent and enjoyable reviewers on YouTube. Professional, knowledgeable, and thoroughly enjoyable. The way he approaches fragrances is so thorough and so in-depth you’d feel like you were in the room smelling alongside him.

    The Milano Fragranze offering I would choose is Naviglio. When the guys described it as “Fresh, refreshing, and relaxing” as well as a scent fit for Summer I was sold.

    This was a lovely interview, and I enjoyed hearing about the qualities of various perfumes. I am subscribed to Redolessence, and I liked Steven’s thoughtful questions and his own perspective on different perfumes. All perfumes in this line seem to be full of character. If I’d to choose one, I’d go with MILANO FRAGRANZE BASILICA.
    MILANO FRAGRANZE BRERA comes a close second. Wish I could try them all, so a discovery set is a great idea. Thanks for a generous draw of discovery set and a perfume bottle. I haven’t tried this line or brand before, but it seems so full of old world charm. I’m in the USA.

    Steven of Redolessence is my favorite YouTube reviewer because of his high knowledge of notes and how to describe a scent. Almost like explaining colors to a blind person. Very articulate.

    I enjoy Stevens you tube reviews as I get the chance to discover new Fragrances from Perfumers from all over the world that I would not be familiar with here in the UK.     Loved that quip about Alessandro watching the Italian football match from his neighbour’s window. I’ve totally done that before. Great descriptions of all the fragrances. Found the text on the screen especially helpful to discern some of the notes. With us going into the summer, the freshness of Naviglio makes it a perfect choice, but I just love the sound of adding Amarreto to a fougere in Diurno. That one would be my pick. Grrrrrrazie!     Wow, Steven! What a wonderful & evocative interview! This is my first encounter with Alessandro Brun & his stunning projects, but the more I learn, the more I understand his ideas of “Innamoramento.” ❤️ The operatic timbre that ties all these scents together is brilliant! It is impossible to select just one fragrance.
    1) Cortille – this is my experience of Milan. Briefly visiting the grandmother of my Parisian roommate, we carried the century-old kitchen table out into the courtyard to eat an 8 hour dinner, deep into the summer night, with friends & neighbors joining the feast, sharing wine & bower. I would give anything to experience that scent again.
    2) Naviglio – History. This is the kind of lived history that is a treasure! Not only do I want to wear this scent, but I want the meditation on physical bearings & bonds to the generations of men & women before me who have lived the small labors & pleasures of life. The very same things that will live on in my children. Who knows – maybe I fold my shirts just like my great-great-grandmother (or some other living trace passed down from my ancestors). This is a beautiful meditation of a scent.
    3) Diurno – What an amazing scentscape. This is a place I will, unfortunately, only ever be able to imagine. I would love to experience these accords!

    What a great video! It made me want to try all of the fragrances. I would like to win Basilica because I don’t have an incense-oriented fragrance and this sounds like a great place to start with that note in that you describe it as not being too overpowering or smoky.     Hey there! Im watching from Virginia, USA! I absolutely LOVED hearing the review between Steven and Mr. Brun! I loved hearing about the inspirations for all of the fragrances! It just gives me a deeper understanding for the story that each fragrance has! If I was able to win, I would really like Naviglio. It just sounds so beautiful. Unfortunately I was furloughed from my job because of COVID and money has been really tight, so I have not been able to purchase any fragrances. Fragrances became such a huge part of my life and I absolutely cherish each one so much. It would be a huge blessing if I could win Naviglio.

    The concept behind Milano Fragranze i like a lot. The price point is great too.
    I’ve been to Milano dozens of times, Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II is such a famous tourist attraction, it was surprising to hear there’s a fragrance inspired by it. Galleria I’d like to win the most, Italian posh leather and iris in a bottle.

    I absolutely love the stories and inspiration behind each of these perfumes. You can tell from the explanation from Alessandro, that this is something very personal and dear to his heart. I also, adore the idea that there is something for every occasion…great forward thinking! I would go Naviglio for two reasons. First, because I just love a great cologne that is very bright.     I loved Steven’s review of the fragrances. His description of Brera really captured my interest. I adore rose/patchouli fragrances. And I liked how he described the interplay of rose and saffron.     I always liked Steven’s videos because he transmit his passion for perfumes and know the words to bring a scent to you as if you were smelling with him. What can be said about Alessandro Brun? wow, Owner and creative director of Masque Milano! As he is born and bred in Milano, he brings us now a fragrance collection inspired in places of his city. As Steven says, a versatile collection with scents for everyone and for every occasion. From the video, you can see he enjoyed it: the way he smells the blotters and his transparent faces. If i win, I would choose BASILICA because I love incense fragrances, never miss the chance to add one to my collection.     Redolessence has a very articulate way of expressing his opinions and a permanent positivism with each review. Efficient and very polite. I love Italian perfumes and I love blue color! The concept, the story of each perfume I particularly liked, it was a pleasure to listen to the dialogue between Redolessence and Alessandro.     I have been subscribed to Steven’s Youtube channel for more than 8 years. Despite the success, he’s stayed humble and down-to-earth. I admire his passionate and highly informative way of presenting fragrances.
    A new Italian house! So exciting. Most of the eight fragrances are compelling to my taste but based on the review I would choose LA PRIMA since I love all the notes of the fragrance.

    It was also great to see the man behind Milano Fragranze. I loved hearing what the creative process behind each fragrance is. It is fascinating to hear how perfumers create perfume from memories.

    As a fervent fan of equestrian sports I can imagine what Derby must smell like and that is why I am instantly drawn towards it. I would love to win this perfume.

    Steven is so knowledgeable, detailed and meticulous in his reviews. I love watching his videos, he describes everything very well and in detail, yet has this serene and calm vibe which makes you feel like you’re listening to someone passionate and educated talking about something they love, rather than a “pro” proving you how much they know.
    If I won, I would be happy to get La Prima. I love florals in general, but it’s the fur accord that especially triggers me in this one; it is unusual, yet I am sure it was made in a classy, yet cozy and even intimate way.

    Nice review Steven. Very interesting interview of the perfumer. I’ve never heard of Milano Fragranze before but I appreciate their scents of place philosophy. I would love to try the discovery set and Galleria because iris and leather are two of my favorite perfume components.

    I love Steven’s reviews because do you listen to Steven‘s reviews you can almost smell the fragrance by the way he explains them and he takes you on a journey which each description. I bought many of fragrances because of that and have loved them when I receive them. It’s a tough choice they all sound amazing but I’m most interested in MILANO FRAGRANZE BASILICA because love incense and I’m intrigued by the mysteriousness of it. I live the USA

I love Milan and Alessandro comments just brought so many good memories made in that city. Galleria for me speaks the most, wow I can already smell that luxury leather iris and I think it’s the best representation of Milan, I’ll never forget my first walk in galleria. My choice would be Galleria but I’m very interested to try all of them. Very big thank you for this review, I enjoy video a lot!

Who is also a really lovely person, I have participated to the launch on the 24th and a couple of other webinar and he and everybody at Masque (and now Milano fragranze) are always so nice with their customers and fans! I love Masque and I love the idea behind the new brand, to tell the story of a city through fragrances, and since it is my home town too, I couldn’t be happier! All 8 fragrances are amazing, my favourites are Basilica and La Prima but if I had to choose one for the giveaway I’d choose Basilica since my husband loves it too so we could share a fragrance! Very interesting to me. Anyway I think Basilica sounds the most interesting to me so I would choose that one, the others sound great (particularly the amaretto fougere) but I just can’t resist incense. I am in the USA.

    I enjoyed watching Steven’s reviews, especially where he talks with Alessandro. It took me back to Italy and Milan. While listening to stories about these perfumes, I remembered all the places I have been there and it makes me want to come back to this wonderful country ASAP.
    It is very difficult to choose which perfume I would like to try the most because I haven’t smelled anything from the house yet. Still, my guts are saying that I would love CORTILE because coffee and jasmine are my kryptonite.

I love the format he has been carrying on for a while, of interviewing perfumers via a video chat and giving them a chance to introduce fragrance lovers to the concepts behind their creations. Milano Fragrance perfumes sound truly exquisite.     I loved this review. It’s not often that we get to hear the perfumer actually talk to us in a reviewer – the flesh behind the smell, if you say. I loved hearing abut the ideas and inspirations behind these fragrances, particularly when he mentioned about the area where people washed clothes at the canal.

    I love that this collection is based on memories of places, rather than events. Thank you taking us through a journey in Milan.

    I would love to travel to Milan through these fragrances and would love to win the discovery set.

    I love Steven’s review and interview learning about all 8 fragrances in the MILANO FRAGRANZE collection. I think I would enjoy all of these fragrances, but if I won I would probably pick NAVIGLIO a fresh, citrusy, and soapy fragrance with a nice clean vetiver that is safe and classy. I am from the USA.

    Milan is one of the most beautiful and full of life sites in the world. It comes to no surprise to me , that Alessandro Brun new line is dedicated to important places, and events in his home town.
    After re-watching the video, I feel like BRERA will suit my personality very well. I like rose and patchouli , I love nightlife, and fragrances with a classy twist.

    Milano Fragranze BRERA I can’t go wrong with, rose/patchouli with resins, quality ingredients, it’s well made confirmed by both Steven and Michelyn, and it’s also made by a nose i like Violaine Collas.

    Sych variety of fragrances , nice bottles, more than fair prices, through MILANO FRAGRANZE people can learn about Milan , and its rich city culture.
    After some hesitation between Naviglio , Basilica and Brera , I’ll go with the latter. Joyful and opulent rose-patchouli perfume. I also have II Bacio reproduction at home .
