Montale Oud Pashmina Review (2021) + So Smooth Draw

Montale Oud Pashmina Review

I could change my life to better suit your mood

Cause you’re so smooth”- Carlos Santana

Oud, also known as agarwood has become an essential ingredient in the perfumer’s palette and its use can be subtle, used as an accent or the centerpiece of a composition. The House of Montale Paris, which was founded in 2003 is well known for its ouds and the new release Montale Oud Pashmina is their interpretation of the pashmina fabric that is worn in many parts of the East and popular in the West as well. This variety of spun cashmere is as smooth as it is expensive; vanilla and musks are woven throughout Montale Oud Pashmina like olfactive threads, enhanced by a medley of spices, saffron, incense, rose, and a particularly fine agarwood accord. The rose creates a sensual core while the oud in the base lays down the foundation of the composition. Although not listed as an ingredient, we detect nutmeg’s musky presence which combined with the gray musks at the base differentiates this fragrance from so many other “rose ouds.” When searching for an easy-to-wear and sophisticated oud amongst the many offerings on the market, Montale’s Oud Pashmina is an oud-lover’s dream and with its hint of sweetness will appeal to those who are new to oud as well. –Michelyn Camen, Editor-in-Chief

I’ve been looking for a great take on Oud, and this seems like it would be perfect. As I stated in the comments on YouTube, my only experience with Motale is Santal Wood, and it was incredible. I’ll keep my fingers crossed in hopes I will be lucky enough to win!

  • Gideon Honeycutt says:

So excited for this. My favorite Montale is Starry Nights. My favorite from thr Aoud like is Black Aoud. Then of course, Intense Cafe is the fall staple. This sounds great.

Can’t edit my comment so I’ll say it again, I love how professional and detailed Steven is with his reviews! His positivity always cheers me up as well. This article was a good read too. Very detailed as well. Oud is one of my favorites along with saffron. This fragrance sounds amazing! Big fan of montale. My favorites from them are black aoud and intense cafe.

I love Montale fragrances. While I have not tried this scent, I’m a huge fan of Their other fragrances such as:
    Sweet vanilla
    Pretty fruity
    Starry nights

Please enter me in the contest. I’m curious of the smell. I would love to add it to my collection.

  • redwheelbarrow says:

I love vanilla, oud, and rose and Montale does them right. Thanks for the draw. I’m in the US.

  • Behtash faizi says:

I do not own any our fragrances so this would be my first one and I’m excited to hopefully wear something as fancy as this.

  • I have been wanting to try a scent from this house and an approachable oud rose sent would be a great way to do that. In maryland.

  • Kelly O'Neal says:

I liked how Steven described the notes which I loved from the beginning. Michelyn’s introduction is great in all ways. The only Montale Fragrance I have is Black Oud and I like it.

  • toshtwinturbo says:

Sounds so luxurious and special. I hope I can win this one so I can wear it to my cousins wedding coming up in august

  • Seems interesting. The purple bottle makes it attractive to me, perhaps fitting my style. The way he describes the fragrance makes me want to buy it

  • Mary Shean says:

Absolutely love Montale. Such a hugh selection something for everyone’s taste. Oud Pashmina sounds wonderful. Love the notes Oud, Vanilla, rose, musk This definitely must smell wonderful. Thank you for this Chance.

  • pipeortega says:

This new fragrance sounds very interesting especially when steve said longevity, sillage, and performance is outstanding, i m a lover of mobtale fragrances, my favorite one is intense cafe.

  • life_through_her_lens says:

What an amazing informative, in depth review, Steven!! And a wonderful article, dear Michelyn we don’t get to read your beautiful writing often enough, but when we do it is such a treat!!

  • Terrance Calton says:

I like it when Steven said this is a smooth, silk like smelling our fragrance.

  • Ralkuwari says:

From my experience with montale i have tried the AOUD LEATHER which is incredible, i liked the way that you described the fragrince in, i hope i win the give away, good luck to everyone

  • I am wanting to try this fragrance, i loved the great description that was told about the fragrance, good luck to everyone

  • I was not surprised by oud and vanilla but was not expecting musk. Steven says vanilla and musk play particular role in Oud Pashmina. He also says he loves challenging compositions from Montale and asks the viewers to check them out, too if they like animalic fragrances but Oud Pashmina is a relatively friendly and safe composition. My fav. from Montale is Black Aoud. I am in US

  • joshuabrian says:

I’m a big fan of Steven. Great personality, and really helps expand my horizons on fragrances. I love Intense Cafe!

  • Stephen is always knowledgeable about fragrances and is really detailed in his descriptions. I own Intense Cafe and Chocolate Greedy, this one sounds amazing. I love Oud fragrances so that alone catches my attention.

  • Steven and Michelyn did a great job in introducing Oud Pashmina by Montale. I love oud perfumes and enjoy Black Aoud and Honey Aoud by Montale. Rose and oud is definitely a great combination, but maybe quite common now, so having a softer Oud, like Pashmina shawls, is welcome news. Pashmina is generally worn in cooler weather, so the name Pashmina Oud conjures up the cozy feeling of curling up with a good book and tea by the fireside, wrapped in a pashmina shawl, and olfactorilly, in Montale Pashmina Oud. Michelyn drew a good distinction between this and other oud offerings, by Montale or otherwise. Not sure if I have tried nutmeg or musks with oud and rose before. Being as it is from the house of Montale, it’s bound to be a lovely perfume. Thanks for the reviews Michelyn and Steven. Thanks also to Europerfumes/Eden Square for a generous draw. I am in the USA.

  • Kansasfragman says:

Big fan of montale and my favorite is oud dream which also has rose but I like that there might be musk and nutmeg
Steven in great and I like Michelyn’s Carlos Santana quote
    Smoooooooooth hope I win

  • shashankmalhotra says:

    Hello,

    Thanks for this opportunity!
I have been subscribed to Steven’s YouTube channel for a long time now and enjoy watching all his reviews.
Oud, vanilla, musk, and rose are few of my most worn notes. What I enjoyed the most about Steven’s review was his presentation on those notes. This fragrance sounds very intriguing to me. I own a lot of Montales and Manceras, and my favorites from the Montale line are Intense Cafe, Oud Samarkand, Honey Aoud, and Aoud Leather to name a few. I own all of them with back up bottles.

    Thank you,
    Shashank Malhotra

  • Marion Hollingsworth says:

Steven is just great at giving detailed reviews, note breakdowns and giving you a sense of what any fragrance smells like. I’ve learned a lot about fragrances through his YouTube channel. Great Fragrance ambassador.

  • Reno Gabriel says:

The bottle looks amazing can’t wait to see how it’s smell oud, rose, and musk. Never smelled something like that before

  • Steven does a great job of being concise and very informative in his videos which I love. I love the bottle of this fragrance as it seems super sexy to me and would love the chance to smell it too since I don’t own any fragrances of this kind. I think I might gift it to the girl I am seeing if I think it would suit her better.

  • Antoine Ross says:

I like the fact that Steven is very precise with his description of not only this fragrance but all reviews he does. My favorites Montale fragrance is Amber Musk.

  • Bryant Worley says:

Stephen’s review was excellent and detailed.. He spoke on the notes quite knowledgeably (which is why he is known as the ‘The Professor’). He broke down the fragrance very well (as he always does), making the fragrance desirable, and a must-try. And the beautiful and effervescent Michelyn Camen gave a very nice, information-infused introduction.

I’ve only tried 8 of the vast Montale portfolio, and the one that I think of every time I think of Montale is Starry Nights. Then there’s Honey Aoud (which smells crunchy to me), Intense Cafe, etc.

I live in Waldorf, MD, USA.

  • Jennifer McMenamin says:

Great detail! Excited about the vanilla with the oud. I like that it will appeal to those new to ouds. I’ve never tried these fragrances before so no favorite yet.

  • This fragance sounds amazing, Steven described it like a very interesting oud fragance. My favorites Montale are Honey aoud, Red aoud and Oud tobacco.

  • Absolutely love Steven and his channel; he is always so poised and thorough in his breakdown of a scent. Michelyn’s intro definitely has my interest peaked regarding Oud Pashmina with the repeated focus on the “smooth” aspect of the fragrance. Too often I find that (to my nose, anyway) rose fragrances can be a bit piercing or synthetic so I would definitely love to try this offering of a softer oud/rose. Unfortunately I’ve never smelled any Montale offerings but they are a house that I’ve been DYING to sample; their presentation is iconic and I’ve heard nothing but amazing things about their scents!

  • Benny Tang says:

I am from the US and would like to enter the giveaway. I have never tried the saffron, oud, rose combo. But I do love the rose in Toy Boy from Moschino

  • Andrei Artimon says:

    One of my favourite houses.
    Own like 15 bottles.
Big oud lover , would love to be in the winning end of this one .
    New york , usa .

  • Thank you Steve for another great review. Love the house of Montale need to check out more of there creations.

  • I love how much I learn with Steven’s reviews. I always leave his videos extremely curious about the products because he describes them so well. Michelyn’s introduction also was very descriptive and I’m extremely interested in this fragrance because I love the mixture of the spiciness and rose. I’m also very curious about the nutmeg note that was mentioned even though it’s not listed as an ingredient. My favorite Montale so far is Dark Vanilla!!

  • patrick_348 says:

I enjoyed Michelyn’s identification of the nutmeg and gray musks as elements that make this oud-rose combo unique, and I liked Steven’s usual thorough discussion of the scent’s structure and effects. He is so good at presentations. The only Montale fragrance I have tried is Vanilla Cake, which I like, but I don’t know if that makes it qualify as my favorite. I am in the US in North Carolina.

  • I will look (smell) for the nutmeg note Michelyn mentioned. I learned from the vid that pashmina is a type of fabric. My favorite Montale is the one with vanilla. US

  • snowflake15 says:

I love a pashmina the same way I love a cashmere wrap. I bet this smell matches the feeling of wrapping yourself in a pashmina. Oud and rose, musk and vanilla sounds like a pashmina wrap. The nutmeg adds to the smooth feeling. Loved the smooth smell part of the video. I have not tried any Montale fragrances yet. The intro certainly sets the stage for the video. Thank you. NY State

  • GennyLeigh says:

Thus sounds like a luxurious blanket in a bottle. I appreciate Steven’s thoroughness in describing the notes of the fragrance. The rose, saffron and the nutmeg essence sound delightful combined with the oud. Favorite Montale is Leather Patchouli. Commenting from MD, USA.

  • Honestly, i read that quote from the Santana song and I was floored with emotions from my childhood it was on ALL THE TIME – loved Stevens review as always he’s very good with his descriptors and comparisons!
Would love to win this opportunity – Steven, keep it up! I really wish there were more niche points of sale in upstate NY so I could sample all of these
    NY USA

  • janainafoster says:

I would love to try this brand new Montale fragrance! It seems exquisite! And I am pretty sure it is an extraordinary fragrance.

  • avio allen says:

Stevens Review- I like how he is very specific with his descriptive analysis and tries to make youtube videos relatable and informative .
Michelyn Camen Review- It help me understand that this is a different and unique type of oud that is worth trying. I am a lover of leathers and oud. I love smooth ouds that are versatile, work, play, and date night. With that being said its one that I think is worth trying. I dont have any Montale perfumes, new to the line. I only have Mancera. Thinking of getting the Montale discovery.

  • WaltherP99 says:

I’ve not yet smelled,Oud Pashmina but it’s is definitely appealing to me, because of the oud , the nutmeg , the other spices , and vanilla lurking in the background . Clean musk Michelyn mentioned would make it cozy to wear.
Montale is one of my favorite houses – atm i do own 12 bottles. my favorite one…Dark Purple maybe.
    Already follow @cafleurebon, @redolessence @offical_europerfumes and @montaleparfumsparis on IG
    Thank you

  • Been trying to get in to new oud fragrances I would love to try this one would be my first montale fragrance but I’ve been meaning to get in to the house and try some I’ve been a long time subscriber to Stevens channel love the work he does and really helps me to Find new fragrances That are gems

  • I only own one Montale (Full Incense) and absolutely love it. But I do have a sample of Intense Cafe and have had it on my wishlist forever because it’s the best coffee fragrance I’ve come across.
Steven’s review was fantastic. Oud Pashmina sounds gorgeous. I really enjoy rose oud scents but Steven says this one is a bit different with the addition of musk and vanilla, giving it a silky, smooth vibe!!
    I live in the USA.

  • Oud Pashmina sounds like a winner. Steven mentioned a sweeter oud scent and a smoother musk. I liked the idea of nutmeg in a fragrance. Mich USA

  • I appreciated learning about a fragrance which is said to be unique, has good overall performance, and has a sweetness in combination with oud. Even though oud with rose is a well known combination, I’m still not having experience with it, but would like to though. I’ve only tried Mancera’s “Red Tobacco”, but nothing yet from Montale (i.e. the company). I live in MD., U.S.A.

  • I have a few Pashmina scarfs, in theory original ones, but because of the price i paid , I suspect all are probably counterfeited somewhere in China.
Oud Pashmina smoothness is appealing to me, and I see nutmeg is gaining popularity lately.
I’ll check it out when I have a chance.
“at the base differentiates this fragrance from so many other “rose ouds.”
    That’s nice , same old , same old fragrances I don’t need.
Every time I think about Montale I think about top performance. Vanilla Cake lasts forever on me , Sensual Instinct is super strong too. Both I bought because of Cafleurebon review I read.
    Thanks for the draw

The idea of nutmeg with vanilla smoothing this scent out is really appealing, making this a cozier feminine leaning oud. My favorite part of the review is actually where Steven talks about how so many different types of fragrances are appealing to him, as I can relate. This makes him a good reviewer, because he can see aspects of a variety of perfumes and how an enthusiast might enjoy them.

    I live in Texas, USA.

****Sorry, forgot to add my favorite Montale fragrance – Patchouli Leaves – I love the earthy, dirty, grounding feeling of the patchouli, and I get a good amount of chocolate as well. It’s just something phenomenal to savor on a chilly, wet day.

    I live in Texas, USA.

  • It’s useful to hear Michelyn’s expert opinion and information (like about the extra notes that aren’t listed online). Steven’s video review gives some good user insight, as in when he remarks on the longevity. I don’t think I’ve tried anything by Montale. (USA)

  • Sherin Thomas says:

I love how methodical and structured Steven is with his reviews. I believe this is because he is a teacher in his main profession. In this fragrance review, I love how he described the smoothness of Pashmina accord with the Rose and Oud combo. I have purchased pure Pashmina and I own authentic ones and therefore I am very much intrigued to get my nose on to it. My favorite is Intense cafe from Montale. Michelyn has been a strong force in educating us all about fragrances since long time and I respect that..Thanks for the Opportunity guys ! Hailing from PA, USA

  • IvanVelikov says:

What’s “Pashmina” is still debatable. Every pashmina is made of cashmere, but not every cashmere is pashmina . Traditionally the fabric is 80/20 , or 70/30 mix with silk . To simplify it’s almost the same thing like champagne, if it’s not made in Champagne region , you’re not allowed to call it champagne, just fizzy/sparkling wine. Well over 90% of all of the fabric labeled as “Pashmina” is fake .
Montale is a house with vast amount of loyal followers , for a good reason I believe. If you’re looking for powerhouse fragrances, Montale can offer a great variety. I own Chocolate Greedy , Honey Aoud and my favorite Intense Cafe.
Oud Pashmina is grown up , sophisticated, but also easy to wear “rose oud” fragrance.
    Thank you.

Getting compliments is important to me, and one of the reasons to get, or not certain fragrance. One thing is for certain, Montale fragrances do get me lots of positive attention, at least in my surroundings . Montale’s are also quite powerful, projecting for hours.
Oud Pashmina is grown up , silky smooth and bright oud , vanilla, and rose fragrance , done right.
My favorite Montale is Sensual Instinct, but the one that gets me most compliments is Wild Pears.
    Exciting giveaway, USA
    Regards

  • Montale fragrances , and Steven reviews = New Cafleurebon combination i enjoy a lot.
In my collection there’s 4 Montales , Ristretto Intense Cafe, Mukhalat , Day Dreams and Amandes Orientales.
From Oud Pashmina i personally expect smoothness , less sweetness , and the usual for Montale great longevity.
    Thank you Steven, Europerfumes

Thank you for the great review Steven.

I love the depth of this review, the presentation of the bottle in the video and quite frankly, this seems to be a great oud fragrance, suited for evening/cooler weather wear.

Thank you for the great introduction Michelyn and the observation that nutmeg might be one of the notes in there.

I do enjoy Montale Wild Aoud a lot.

    Cheers from WI, USA

  • Just saw this was ending phew
I like the combo of Redolessence and Cafleurebon; I saw the Purple Heart vid too
Here I gotta say Steven really goes all into Hu I want it and Mychelyn brings up nutmeg
    USA

  • There very well be nutmeg in Oud Pashmina, but there’s definitely a lot of safran. It’s known that safran (i believe most people in US use saffron) often gives the fragrance leathery twist, and that’s exactly how Oud Pashmina works on me , I’ve sampled it. We’re all different, but both Steven and Michelyn never mentioned leather, and to me leather is the second, most prominent note after the oud, there’s also smoky incense , and then the vanilla , and the rose.
I like Oud Pashmina a lot, and I would absolutely love to win.
At the moment i do own 3 Montale fragrances Chocolate Greedy , Oudmazing and Vanilla Extasy.
    Nice opportunity
    Cheers from VA

  • What I’d found positive in Steven’s review is that, although it’s a longlasting “smooth” oud, I’m glad it has the balance of spice & rose and also sits somewhere within the niche category.

  • I like how Steven is up front with his opinions on this fragrance. Really like how he describes this fragrance with sweet vanilla , spicy with musk, and how the fragrances scent matches the color of the bottle. Steven introduced me to my current favorite Montale Red Tobacco. I definitely would like to get my hands on this fragrance Oud Pashmina.

Steven opened a whole new world for me with fragrance, and in particular a passion for oud. Such an exotic, earthy resinous insense scent!

  • Michael Prince says:

I enjoyed Steven’s review of Montale Oud Pashmina. It sounds like a very pleasant oud wearing experience mixing a sweet vanilla, rose, musk, and some spices. Steven is so well spoken and talented at reviewing a fragrance and conveying how the smell comes across. I liked Michelyn’s introduction detailing the history behind the house of Montale established in 2003 and the in house perfumer Pierre Montale. I liked learning about silky smooth Pashmina fabric which went into the naming of this fragrance. My favorite Montale fragrance is Arabian’s Tonka. I am from Ohio, USA.

  • Kayelani Palacios says:

I love, love, love Montale fragrances and im sure this one is just as beautiful as the others in my collection

  • I am addicted to Red tobacco & instant Crush.
Impossible not to smell my arm every chance I get.
I can only imagine how amazing this fragrance is !
