NISHANE NANSHE (Cecile Zarokian) and EGE/ΑΙΓΑΙΟ (Ilias Ermenidis) Reviews + choose your character Draw

I must confess that my love of mythology is bookish only by association, the deeply-rooted seed being planted in my childhood, in the countless hours spent in front of the computer screen, playing videogames. The immersive, visceral and vivid way of experiencing stories – first hand – appealed to me with the flawless successions of cause and effects, the special feeling of cozy safety mixed in with the adrenaline of adventure, all molded perfectly on my over-analytical personality and the ever-present need of escaping reality (or better said –  my need of placing a more exciting filter on top of it). Special shout-outs to the 1989 Prince of Persia that sent me straight to the school library to seek out illustrated tales of One Thousand and One Nights, much love to 1991 GODS where I was Hercules, on my quest to achieve immortality, to all the games references that made me seek out and joyfully learn all the gods and heroes of the Greek Mythos, exposed me to the Bardo Thodol, became intimately familiar with Norse gods, copied by hand excerpts from Mircea Eliade’s books dealing with the history of religions, all interconnected threads, passing through Clive Barker’s lore to Dark Age of Camelot to recent god(s) of War. There must be, somewhere deeply embedded in my synapses, a happy-trigger button responsible for a child-like sense of giddy exhilaration when I perceive any dual, antagonistic, story-driven backbone to a marketing pitch. So my gaming Pavlovian reflexes were tickled from the first glance I took at NISHANE’s artwork for NANSHE and EGE/ΑΙΓΑΙΟ,  I heard a voice compelling me to ”choose my character”. When the two fragrances arrived, I was even more convinced of their “role-playing” qualities, with their familiar new-retro feel, so in this review, I will try to give them “flesh”, as imaginary characters of a role-playing scented game.

NISHANE Nanshe

NISHANE NANSHE

Motto: “Be the patron of dreams and prophecy.”

Alignment: Lawful Good; Oriental-Powdery-Floral

Name: Nanshe the Sumerian goddess of fertility, social justice, dreams, prophecy, fishing, and wildlife. She guards widows, orphans, and refugees; is a prophetess and a holly oracle.

Lore: daughter of Enki, the god of wisdom and fresh water, and Ninhursag, the Mother Goddess, sister to Nisaba, goddess of writing, consort of Haia, the god of storerooms.

Symbols: the fish and the pelican; the fish connects her with the element of water and also symbolizes life, while the pelican, who, in legend, is said to sacrifice itself to feed its young, symbolized Nanshe’s  devotion to humanity.

Realm: Said to have dominion over dreams and creative fertility.

Special abilities: Summons a powdery cloud around you.

NANSHE by Nishane review

Alyssa Sutherland Vikings promo photo, pixel art by Nicoleta

Character development: We are greeted into the journey by the slightly bitter carrot seeds, giving the opening an earthy, woody, dry, deep aura, with an assertive spicy bite. Building on its spicy-ness, we have the added depth of cardamom, accompanied by bergamot and yuzu, with a beautiful counterbalance of juicy sweetness. We soon enter the realm of flowers, where a dusty dry rose reigns supreme above a field of a yellowy nectared wall of bloom. Patchouli (a herbaceous, non-hippie kind) never lets the flowers become too feminine, keeping the fragrance in the same earthy, musky, almost solemn and godly powdery realm. In the drydown, stuff gets even dreamier with facets of orris, musk, and soft woods. On cloud number 9 –level of zen achieved!

Nishane Nanshe review

A note from the brand: “Together with the perfumer Cecile Zarokian, the main challenge was to create a scent that reflects the kind, compassionate, welcoming and wise attributes of this divine figure. It is aimed to bring fertility for more positive vibes and souls to make the world a better and fairer place to live. A world where the forgotten, the poor, the lonely, and disenfranchised are looked after.”

NISHANE NANSHE was created by Cecile Zarokian in 2020, (who also composed ANI) in 2020. The notes are: bergamot, carrot seeds, cardamom, yuzu, water fruits & flowers, rose absolute, jasmine sambac absolute, ylang-ylang, orris, powdery notes, musk, patchouli, sandalwood

NISHANE EGE

NISHANE Ege promotional image

NISHANE EGE/ΑΙΓΑΙΟ:

Motto: “Blue is the color of longing”

Alignment: Chaotic Good; Green-aquatic-aromatic

Name: Aegaeon (also known as Aegean, Goatish, Stormy – NOT to be mistaken for Poseidon) was the god of the storms of the Aegean Sea and an ally of the Titanes in their war against the gods. He was named after the Aegean Sea but his name also means “Stormy One”.

Lore: the son of Gaia (the Earth) and Pontos (the Sea)

Symbols: the goat – as the constellation Capra (the Storm-Goat) whose rising in late autumn marks the onset of stormy weather on the Aegean sea.

Realm: EGE is the Turkish name for the Aegean Sea (an elongated embayment of the Mediterranean Sea located between the Greek and Anatolian peninsulas)  which was derived from the Greek name ΑΙΓΑΙΟ.

Special abilities: Direct teleport to a deeply relaxing Mediterranean summer vacation

NISHANE EGE Rrview

Character development: Have you ever had ouzo? It’s a traditional Greek liqueur, made out of anise, that has the most wonderful clouding effect when ice or water is added in, transforming a perfectly translucent drink into a cloudy pale drink, resembling the texture of milk (the same as with absinthe). The first spray takes me straight to an almost forgotten Greek vacation, adding in slow-motion a cube of ice in the glass of Ouzo in front of me. Rolling up my sleeves, I am outside, preparing breakfast, the scent of freshly picked mint mixing on my hands with the aroma of chopped basil and tomato leaves. The almost metallic salty after storm smell of the sea invades the garden, messes up my hair, and raises the condiments set up on the table in a cloud of dust. In a time where travel happens in memories, bottled up scents, and sighs in front of the folders of old vacation pictures, I full-heartedly agree that blue is indeed the color of longing.

A note from the brand: “Having both names together as the name of the perfume (EGE / ΑΙΓΑΙΟ) is a deliberate choice by NISHANE to pay tribute to the shared skies and culture of Turkish and Greek people who are the neighboring residents of the Aegean costs who inhabit – as Herodotus said – a world of summer sea-breeze, deep blue waters with every pebble on the bottom clearly visible, towns and villages full of houses painted white and blue, a common bond of cuisine, shared instruments and lyrics having a feeling of nostalgia mixed with hopefulness, a cohabitation an interdependence of centuries.”

EGE/ΑΙΓΑΙΟ was created in 2020 by Ilias Ermenidis. Notes include: yuzu, violet leaves, anise, basil, green cardamom, mint, olibanum, licorice

  • I would love to win Ege. I love the ocean, and with COVID keeping me at home in my landlocked state of Missouri in the US, I’d love to be transported on vacation by a fragrance. And, I’m loving the note of violet leaves in fragrances these days. Thanks for the giveaway!

  • I would love to try EGE purely because anything that can evoke a greek vacation during this time is welcomed 😀 My favorite Nishane is by far Fan your Flames

    Based in the EU

  • Big fan of Cècile Zarokian and Ani as well Havicet. Clever reviews and I would want to summon a powdery cloud and be a prophetess. But Jason Momoa! Decisions Please enter me for NISHANE EGE

  • USA, California. I would love to win EGE, the yuzu note has me interested. Favorite Nishane would be ANI very sweet but enjoyable.

Thank you for this great review! As an Italian with a background in classical studies, I have always loved mythology, and especially Greek myths but also literature and history. They say about Italians and Greeks “Mia faza mia Raza”, one face one race and I find it so true, I love Greeks, their country and culture, and I spend almost every year my summer holidays in one of the countless Greek Islands. Ca va sans dire, I would love to win EGE, to remind me of my Greek summers! I am not familiar with Nishane’s perfumes, and since I have read a lot about them it would be such a treat to be the lucky winner! I live in Milan

  • It is a challenge to choose between the two but I am a bit more inclined towards Nanshe as it seems like a spricy herbal floral fragrance with notes that I enjoy such as iris, cardamom, and yuzu. My choice for this draw in Nanshe and my favorite from Nishane is Hacivat. I am in US.

  • The EGE/ΑΙΓΑΙΟ sounds beautiful! The notes are some of my favorites, and I love the evocation of a Greek vacation. I could use one right now! I don’t know the Nishane line, but I’ve love their bottles! I am in NYC.

  • To start, I would love to win EGE/ΑΙΓΑΙΟ because it is aquatic and with summer around the corner I feel like my nose will gravitate towards it more. As for Nishane, what a great house. I absolutely adore Fan Your Flames and I want to try every one of their offerings, but I have not done so (in due time). Kind regards from Illinois, USA.

  • I live in Romania, Europe.
I would like to win Ani because it seems perfect for the coming spring.
I have Muskane from Nishane and I really enjoy it. It makes me very interested in the brand and I am sorry in my country don’t have it in brick and mortar stores.

  • Very nice review. I haven’t tried anything of this house so far but I’d love to try Banshee. I’m located in Belgium EU.

NISHANE NANSHE was created by Cecile Zarokian in 2020, (who also composed ANI) in 2020. The notes are: bergamot, carrot seeds, cardamom, yuzu, water fruits & flowers, rose absolute, jasmine sambac absolute, ylang-ylang, orris, powdery notes, musk, patchouli, sandalwood I was intrigued by the notes especially rose absolute, jasmine Sambac, Patchouli and Sandalwood being my favourite notes in perfumery and that Cecile Zarokian composed this really steals the show for me. A beautiful description by Nicoleta. My favourite from Nishane is Fan your Flames. Thanks a million from the United Kingdom

I am attracted to Nanshe because of the notes rose, Patchouli, jasmine in particular. The fact that Cecile Zarokian composed this concoction just is a dream. My favourite Nishane is Sultan Vetiver. Thanks a lot from the UK

  • Live in the U.S.A. I’ve tried Ege and wasn’t blown away by it, but nanshe has had my attention for awhile. I’ve been looking to get into some more floral oriented fragrances recently. Personal favorite from this house would have to be hacivat.

  • Vanillander65 says:

I would love to win Nanshe because I want to summon a powdery cloud around me and achieve that wonderful level of zen.
My favorite Nishane perfume is Hundred Silent Ways.

Thank you for this amazing review and for the giveaway!

  • forrestanez says:

I really enjoyed the mythological background of these fragrances, as I am very interested in mythology. EGE/ΑΙΓΑΙΟ would be the one I would like to win. It sounds wonderful as I absolutely love licorice/anise in perfumes, I don’t think it is used enough! I have never had the pleasure of sampling any of their perfumes, although ANI & HACIVAT sound really great. I live in Hawaii USA.

  • Even if I am a man, I totally love powdery perfumes and Nanshe has the ability to summon a cloud of powder around the wearer! I really like this!
I am in the EU. Thanks for the draw!

  • Jos van Otterloo says:

Love this house and I am keen on trying EGE. The smell of the ocean and the idea of going on vacation really appeal to me. Living in the EU

  • I like how NANSHE is the scent of compassion, a scent to make the world a better place. I think we all need such a fragrance in these hard times.
    Thanks for the draw! Europe

  • I am a fan of Nishane fragrances, especially – Spice Bazaar, Ani and Zenne, I know and love also other spicy creations of Cecile Zarokian, so NANSHE sounds intriguing to me, I see my fav notes here in description: patchouli, dusty dry rose, slightly bitter carrot seeds, depth of cardamom, accompanied by bergamot and yuzu, with a beautiful counterbalance of juicy sweetness. Very nice!

I live in the EU and would like to win NANSHE,
    thank you for the opportunity!!

  • If I were to win, I would pick NANSHE because being a powdery, very soft and dreamy fragrance, it would suit my fiancee perfectly! She is very feminine, girlish in a good way and I already picture her wearing this and it would be a great addition the her personality. Thanks!

  • Interesting the association between Gods and perfums… a lot to discover.. I loved Ani from Nishane , an amazing vanilla gourmand created by the one and only Cècile Zarokian, who is back to this house with Nanshe… I don´t like so much the powdery fragrances but made by Ms. Zarokian is the one I choose is a won the draw. I live in Madrid, EU.

  • New York, I’m choosing Ege, some because of the scent profile but mostly bc of the moral alignment and colors evoked.

  • I’m intensely drawn to Nanshe as the notes seem very appealing to me. A powdery scent with rose, ylang and patchouli sounds like a recipe for happiness. I’ve heard some people talking about it and the sillage and strength seems satisfying indeed. I would love to wear it.
    Octav-Romania

  • I’d love to win NANSHE.

It has a plethora of my favourite notes and the description and insight into it just captivated me from start to finish.

My favourite from the house is musique oud.
    I’m from Ireland , EU.

  • On this myhological game I would choose Nanshe. To be the patron of dreams and prophecy who fight for social justice, but also protect widows, orphans and refugees. It seems to be a great inspiration, whatever country or time we are leaving.
Her fragrance is also very appealing a powder cloud of spicy, musky and earthy flower with oris and soft woods. But in same time have a fruity and juciness quality. The mix of all that seems to be really beautiful.
I never had the opportunity to test any Nishane and I live in the EU.

  • I want to feel like Jason Momoa so I’d love to win EGE. 😀 I’ve heard so much about Nishane and the great quality of the fragrances. Thank you for this opportunity! USA

  • I haven’t tried anything from Nishane, altough I always see their fragrances on the facebook groups I am a member of. They enjoy quite some praise If I think better of it. I might get myself a sample pack of their offerings, to see for myself.
From the two, I would go for Nanshe. Thank you! Europe

  • Everything I have tried from Cecile Zarokian I absolutely adore and I can bet that Nanshe is no exception to this rule!!
I would choose this one and I also liked the motto – Be the patron of dreams and prophecy.

    Thank you!!!

  • My current favorite of the house is Ani Because of the coziness!
I would love to win EGE/ΑΙΓΑΙΟ!
Honestly the thing that stood out to me the most was the special ability which was noted… I really need that right about now!
    NY USA

  • Love the inspiration for these two! I’d love to win EGE, because it sounds so beautifully summery. The yuzu, basil, and mint together especially (but all the notes appeal). Thank you from Oregon/USA.

  • I would love to win EGE since I live in Mediterranean climate, so everything that reminds me of the sea, it’s automatically a winner for me! From the house I love Hacivat, but the best offering, in my eyes, is Afrika Olifant,I find that perfume breathtaking!

    I live in Croatia, EU.

  • Usa. I would like Nanshe. I love powdery iris perfumes and this one sound different from the usual lipstick scents I wear. I haven’t had the pleasure of trying any Nishane perfumes but the house is only my sample list.

  • Blue for Greeks is not just a color, it’s a state of mind and a way of living. The sea defines our culture in general, from the food that we eat, and the liquor that we drink, to our architecture.
I would live to try Ege/Αιγαίο, thank you for this draw.Greetings from Athens-Greece.

  • I live in the EU and I’d like to win EGE/ΑΙΓΑΙΟ because Nicoleta’s description brought back memories of a beautiful vacation in Greece (and a former lover) and I’d love to relive those memories with each spray. My favourite from Nishane is Ani.

  • The references to Greek archetypes stretched my olfactory imagination and the references to the more earthy, palpable scents made each fragrance even more appealing and sniff-worthy. So, my decision to pick EGE as a preferable choice for a draw has not been an easy one. Based on the all-overall vibe, EGE simply seems lighter, more summery, and reminiscent of my Greek holidays, This winter, I am more than ever longing for blue roofs in Santorini, blue sky, and sea…so a little bit of Turkish & Greek summer in the blue flacon would offer an alternative path to be transported to Greece and/or Turkey.
I appreciate a creative approach to introducing both fragrances of the famous house. I have had the pleasure to try ANI, which I absolutely love.
    I reside in Slovenia.

  • Hello !
Nishane is definitely a house that I want to check out and that I haven’t got the opportunity yet,I think their online store was not running until recently.
I have just blind bought Hacivat, and it’s one of my best blind buys ever.I’m kind of addicted to the smell.
It’s so good,I can’t stop smelling it many times throughout the day.
For starters, some perfumes from the House that I need to get my nose in,are Munegu,Ani,Fan your Flames,Hundred Silent Ways,B-612,Ambra Calambria etc.
I have to admit ,good job from our dear neighbors ^_^,
and since I’m Greek,I choose Ege,without even thinking.

    Greetings from Athens,Greece
    Aris

  • I love to try EGE its will be my favorite , I like it teleport you to summer and let you feel it and war agains gods and Titanes love that. I am in EU Sweden.

  • Since the first time I heard about these two new perfumes I was very interested in them. EGE was always the one that seemed a bit nicer, but after Nicoleta’s review I am sure I need EGE in my life. I could almost cry after reading her description of the perfume and how it evokes summer vacations in Greece. I need that right now so much. I need to be drinking Ouzo by the see, while I prepare dinner on the balcony. I do not have a Nishane favorite yet. I’m from Illinois, US.

  • I live in the US and I am torn between these two fragrances that seem so different from one another. In the end, I am more drawn to Nanshe because I have long held a fascination for the Sumerian pantheon. I do not have a favorite Nishane perfume. Maybe Nanshe will be the one.

  • I’m in the US, Minnesota to be exact. I’d prefer Ege as I’m on the search for the perfect blue fragrance. My current favorite is fragrance du bois London oud. Curious to experience the salty notes in Ege. My favorite from the house of Nishane is no surprise, ANI. Loved the review by the way. I’m still a gamer myself. Cheers.

  • Of course I will try my luck for Nanshe, because I love powdery perfumes so much (my siggy is Narciso Poudree)! They transport me to another era with each spray and this particular paragraph makes me wonder if this would be my new favorite of the genre: “almost solemn and godly powdery realm. In the drydown, stuff gets even dreamier with facets of orris, musk, and soft woods”.

PS: So far, my favorite Nishane is Ani, followed by Hundred Silent Ways. So yas, everything with vanilla, powdery & floral notes touch my soul.

    EU, Romania

  • Motto: “Blue is the color of longing”
    Maybe , we shall see
I relate all fragrances to some sort of food, and Nicoleta take on EGE/AIГAIO reminded me, of me making and eating Basil Mint Cake with walnuts , and drinking lime juice
Nishane is a house I love . As a Pastry Chef, and a gourmand lover Passion Choco is a must have. I do also have plans of getting Wulong Cha bottle for the spring.
Appreciate the review, and the giveaway campaign‍
    USA

  • This was such an interesting read. Nishane has created my absolute favourite perfume, Ani, so I would be ecstatic to win this. My pick would be Nanshe, since I adore powdery notes in perfumes. I live in Denmark.

  • Lina Festila says:

“a Scent that reflects the kind, compassionate, welcoming and wise attributes..” I don not why the first thought will be to a pharmacy lab… So to read and smell about other’s way of seeing this…is a privilege and moment of humbleness. Lina Bucharest România and favor and like to try Nanshane

  • I sense a little bit of a DnD background in Nicoleta and I love it!
Great pixelart too by the way!

My favorite fragrance from Nishane is Ani. I have been wearing it a lot this colder season, but when Winter ends, I will need a fragrance more suitable for summer.

I would love to win EGE / ΑΙΓΑΙΟ, because I need this Mythological teleportation device to transport me to the Greek coast and bask in the Mediterranean sun!

I love summer fresh fragrances and Yuzu is one of my favorites notes. My addiction to licorice makes this an easy choice.

    Greetings from the UK

I live in Romania (the EU) and I would like to win a bottle of Nishane Nashane by Cécile Zarokian. First of all, I like very much the editor’s incursion style into the character of the fragrances by sketching this intellectual portrait of becoming. Being Romanian, I have been exposed to the works of Mircea Eliade and I find these analogies between the philosophy of religion and perfume (‘per fumum’ clearly states its ascendance as a religious practice meant to establish a connection with a divinity, with an ideal, through beauty I reckon). Sorry for this quibble. Now coming back to Nashane, I would like to win it, as I am intrigued by the listed note of carrot seeds. I am utterly fascinated by its olfactory profile (as a reference, I have smelled it as essential oil, never front-seated in a composition). Its oleaginous, evocative of a fattier iris, sweaty-animalic, clearly vegetable. I am a fan of the perfumer Cécile Zarokian and her work ethic and I would very much like to smell her interpretation of this material – which facets exploited, which toned down. And, if the reviewer says it has the ability to summon a powdery cloud, why resist?! Thanks for the opportunity!

  • Leslie Ryan says:

Oh my goodness, nishane always turns my head. 100 silent ways and vain and naive are my two go tos- I struggle to choose between these two new beauties. Nanshe is more up my alley, I imagine, so that’s my pick. I’m in Memphis TN,

  • kkarnes1986 says:

I’d love to win Nanshe because I love orris and a fragrance having both orris and carrot seeds sounds amazing. I haven’t smelled any Nishane fragrances before so I’d love for this one to be my introduction to the house. I live in Ohio USA.

  • Nishane is a house of wonders. My favourite one is Ani, but I also like several of their scents, e.g. Spice Bazaar, Hundred Silent Ways… I would like to win Nanshe. I live in Romania, EU.

  • I found out a lot of great niche brands on Cafleurebon , but not Nishane . I was introduced to this great house because of client of mine. I’m a Barber , and one day this guy came into my saloon with the BEST tea fragrance I’ve ever smelled Wulong Cha . Long story short bought a bottle the next day. Class in a bottle- that’s what Wulong Cha is.
Ege/Aiгaio will suit me better, I like long lasting marine fragrances , basil and Ouzo notes will both give it a nice twist , I’m sure.
    Thanks for the draw

Ah, the current aqua man isn’t the silly sidekick in the cartoon of the 80s. He’s downright badass and as such I would love to try The Nishane Ege as a perfect minty summer scent. From USA. Thank you.

  • While both sound amazing, I was sold on EGE when you mentioned ouzo. The slight anise note sounds enchanting. This one sounds like the ideal aromtic aquatic scent. I think Nishane Ani is a wonderful fragrance and I’m excited to try more. I live in Denmark, EU.

  • I never had the chance to try a Nishane perfume, I heard about this house but no sample to my nose, so far…
I would love to smell the EGE/ΑΙΓΑΙΟ variant, because the notes from this scent are more appropriate to my taste…I like a lot the Yuzu note in fragrances. Thanks for this review. Regards from EU

  • Nanshe sounds like an earthy, spicey, flowery, unisex fragrance. I liked learning about the meaning of Nanshe as the Sumerian goddess. I do enjoy many fragrances from Nishane, one of which is mentioned in this article – Unutumam. If lucky, I’d choose Nanshe. Thanks for the opportunity! Mich USA

  • I love mythology, so Nicoleta’s review of the two fragrances along with the role-playing scented game especially resonated with me. If I were so lucky to win, I’d select Nanshe because of her devotion to humanity. I enjoyed reading about her name, symbols, and abilities, and the powdery/floral notes sound wonderful. I need to explore Nishane more, but, so far, I really like Ambra Calabria. I am in the DFW area, USA.

  • The review of Ege/aigean evoques the perfect aegean feeling in summer. Oh, how I miss it right now! But the Nanshe sounds even more appealing with the powdery cloud. It’s a hard choice, but I would maybe prefer Nanshe.
Thanks for the draw, from EU.

  • Hashim Madani says:

I had the chance to sample all Nishane fragrances at the new Istanbul airport last year. They’re all high-quality and well-composed, but Hacivat is my absolute favorite. I was also impressed with ANI and Cecile’s style. Being a rose and patchouli lover, I’d love to win Nanshe. A little soothing zen is welcome right now. VA, USA.

  • I choose my character to be EGE/ΑΙΓΑΙΟ; there is nothing I would like more than teleporting myself to a relaxing Vacation in the mediterranean drinking a nice cup of Ouzo. The licorice and anise are the notes that draw my attention the most from this fragrance. I haven´t have the chance to test Nishane´s creations yet, but I am willing to!

    Greetings from Spain, EU.

  • i would like to win Nanshe; from EU. There is so much symbolism in Nishane perfumes, all are mystical! Ani is my favorite so far!

  • Andreea Florica says:

Carrot seeds… hmm, that does sound intriguing to my nose. I don’t think I’ve ever tried a fragrance that features carrot seeds.
NANSHE sounds lovely from the description. I would go with this one. Never tried anything from NISHANE either. Thanks for the review! I am in EU

  • Cezara Alexandra says:

I live in Romania. I would like to win Nishane Nanshe because it seems like something I would love!
I have a favourite Nishane perfume and that is Hundred Silent Ways. I love it so much I have no words.

  • I loved the article and all of the associations with Mythological characters. My favorite Nishane fragrance is Ani, such a beauty. I would love to win, Nanshe. The notes of carrot seed, flowers, and powder! I also love Cecile Karokian fragrances. Thank you for the chance to win. California, USA

  • Great review! I would love to win EGE/ΑΙΓΑΙΟ. I’ve been disliking aquatic fragrances for a long time and I only got to know it more recently. I would love to try this one and hoping ut can change my view. My current favorite nishane fragrance is fan your flames, such a warm scent! Thank you for the generosity. I live in France.

  • Would love to get my nose on Ege! Fresh, aquatic, with the Nishane power behind it! Sounds like it may play well in these Texas USA summers! Hacivat does!

  • ThatMulattoDude says:

Really enjoyed this write-up as I was a fan of mythology for some time in my youth. The story behind the name of Ege is excellent…in honor of the Turkey and Greece sharing scenery and culture. If I were to win, I would choose Ege. Appreciate the generosity of the giveaway from Nishane! Best from Virginia, USA.

  • What a cool structure, I would have never thought of describing a fragrance in term of videogaming characters!
My pick would be Nanshe: I do need a powder casting, dream controlling, zen inducing goddess in my life. The notes sound great and appealing too.
I have never tried Nishane, but I heard great things about this house.
    Writing from the EU.

  • Wow Nishane draw… To me this is one of the best perfume houses , that came in the last 6-7 years-HUGE FAN.Everything about Nishane is top notch-great presentation, nice bottles, quality ingredients, good longevity, sillage and projection-fantastic….10/10.
Unfortunately i don’t know both EGE/AIГAIO and Nanshe , so i can’t share my own thoughts , like I usually do.
I see Nicoleta is leaning more towards NANSHE, my pick is EGE/AIГAIO. I actually I’m a fan of well done green aquatics.
Oh’ I’m a strict teetotaller , but I know Ouzo is just mastic , that’s been trade marked in Greece , and not some super unique Greek liquor. It’s the same like Champagne, and Bourbon. You can make all 3 beverages, no matter where you live, you just can’t call them “Ouzo” , “Bourbon ” and “Champagne”
Bottles of Fan Your Flames and Pasion Choco are the two i own at the moment , both i love equally.
    Top opportunity-thank you.
    USA only..for now

  • Hi from Sweden! I would really love to win EGE/ΑΙΓΑΙΟ. It sounds lovely and brings to mind fond memories of living and dining in Lebanon – drinking arak (like ouzo) and having fresh mint with my breakfast.

So far, my favorite from Ani is Hacivat – but I’m eager to explore more!

  • I would love to win Ege. From the article and the note breakdown it seems to be the more masculine one out of the two (although both are unisex). I’m also a fan of fresh summer fragrances, and feel that this one would be amazing during the upcoming summer months. Shout out from NY, USA.

  • Brad Woolslayer says:

I would like to win EGE. I tend to enjoy aquatics, and this one seems to use some interesting notes. I live in Maryland USA.

  • It is hard to choose between the two perfumes reviewed by Nicoleta but I would go for EGE/ΑΙΓΑΙΟ. I guess it is because it’s somewhat different, from the listed notes. I am also into some travel, vacation, adventure right now and though I’m not sure if I like licorice, I’d still choose EGE/ΑΙΓΑΙΟ. Not familiar with Nishane brand. Thanks for the review and the draw. Writing from the USA.

  • My love of Greek/Roman/Norse mythology comes from my well-thumbed copy of Bullfinch. another fragrances sound lovely and reflective of their muses. I would choose EGE/AITAIO because of its nod to the Mediterranean and use of yuzu, mint and licorice. Also, Jason Momoa. I’ve never tried ant Nishane fragrances before. Commenting from MD, USA.

  • Nicoleta, what a fantastic set of reviews! I’d no idea that you had been such an avid gamer!

I would love to win EGE/ΑΙΓΑΙΟ – the notes are fascinating and you brought me immediately into your reminiscing with your recollection of that trip. I adore ouzo and anything with shades of anise really tickles my fancy.

I’ve only tried Afrika-Olifant from Nishane and that was in the nascience of my perfumed being.

    I’m in Massachusetts, USA.

  • The choice is so difficult! I have tried Nanshe and immediately added it to my to buy list (which is never ending) but Nicoleta makes EGE/ΑΙΓΑΙΟ sound equally wonderful! I would gladly add either to my extensive collection from the brand. My favorite is probably Munego. US

  • It was nice to learn more of the background of these fragrances and the mythology. Ive only tried two Nishane fragrances and really enjoy both. The two I’ve sampled are Ani and 100 Silent Ways but I can’t choose a favorite yet I need to try Ani again. If I should win I would choose Nanshe. It sounds great to me with the freshness of yuzu as well as florals and powderiness from orris and sandalwood and musk in the base. Just sounds like something I’d enjoy. Commenting from CT USA. Thanks for the generous draw.

  • Definitely like to win (EGE / ΑΙΓΑΙΟ).The yuzu, violet leaves, anise, basil, mint, and, olibanum make this very appealing and attention grabbing fragrance.

    Live in Louisiana USA

  • I haven’t tried any fragrance from Nishane yet. I would like to win Nanshe since I like rose and jasmine notes. I’m from Pennsylvania, USA.

  • Though I’d like to try both, I’m leaning towards Nanshe– something about it being inspired by the “goddess of dreams” gets me. Haven’t tried any Nishane before. (USA)

  • From these two new releases from Nishane, I’m drawn to Nanshe.
I’ve only tried one perfume from Nishane. It’s Ani gorgeous spicy vanilla, also composed by Zarokian. Nanshe is beautifully depicted by Nicoleta Tomsa, I can’t wait to try it out.
Many thanks for this draw. I live in France
I would love to win Nanshe.

  • Cristea Camelia says:

I would be very happy if I won Nanshe and this is because I am keen to find out how that state of calmness feels like.
I haven’t tried any of Nishane perfumes but I’ve heard a lot of good things about this brand.
Reading the review from EU. Thank you for the giveaway!

I was born in the sign of Cancer and water is my element, I love everything related to the sea. I love the color blue in all its forms and shades. Greece is one of my favorite holiday destinations. So no surprise that Ege literally bewitched me. I observe Nishane with respect and admiration, in their catalog excellent creations, my favorite is Hacivat.
    I live in EU.
    Thanks!

  • Ioana Vărzaru says:

Nishane Nanshe may be a dreamlike fragance and i would be so happy to win it!Thanks from UE

  • Amanda32828 says:

Hi there. I love your article and feel very identify with Nanshe, the notes and all the mythological details definitely draw me right to it. From this powerhouse I have only had the pleasure of smell Hundred Silent Ways and the complexity and the uniqueness of it really make me fall in love with it. Thank you for the opportunity to participate in the draw. I’m commenting from Orlando, Fl USA.

  • Nishane was such a wonderful surprise for me, as I had some misconception because the brand comes from Turkey and the country is wonderful, but famous for arabic like fragrances. Tuberoza from Nishane is the best tuberose scented fragrance I have ever smelled and owned and it is fantastic. I’m so sure that the rest of their fragrances are as fantastic as well and they are on my “have to have” list. I currently live in Romania.

I’d love to win EGE/ΑΙΓΑΙΟ – I rarely take to aquatics, but this one sounds like something special.

My favorite Nishane is Patchuli Kozha–no, Fan Your Flames–no, Spice Bazaar (it’s hard to choose).

I live in Nashville, TN, USA.

  • Bryant Worley says:

I live in Waldorf, Maryland, USA, and thevreason I would like to win Nanshe is because I love the note breakdown, along with the purpose of the fragrance: “It is aimed to bring fertility for more positive vibes and souls to make the world a better and fairer place to live. A world where the forgotten, the poor, the lonely, and disenfranchised are looked after.”

Unfortunately, I have not been privileged to try a Nishane, but of those I’ve heard of, besides the 2 highlighted fragrances, I salivate at the possibility of wearing Hacivat.Sultan Vetiver, Spice Bazaar,, Rosa Tuscan, Hundred Silent Ways, Fan Your Flames, Ambra Calabria, Wulong Cha, and Ani.

    Thanks for the giveaway!

  • wandering_nose says:

Nicoleta’s descriptions of both perfumes make them so real I can smell them with my soul. Very grateful for that. I am based in Ireland. I would love to win NANSHE – it seems to embody all I have been craving in a fragrance – a warm, powdery, cozy, serene and peaceful safety, sometimes a bit bold alluring, sometimes just quiet and calming. My favorites from Nishane so far are Ani and Fan your Flames

  • I live in the USA, and I would love to win NANSHE because it has notes of rose and jasmine, which I always fall for. And, of course, the inspiration of a creative, powerful, and generous woman is also very appealing. I haven’t tried enough NISHANE fragrances to have a favorite yet.

  • Danu Seith-Fyr says:

Nishane is a house full of wonders, I adore Ani and Fan Your Flames.
Wouldn’t I just love the freedom to travel right now, to visit all those precious places already known to me, inhabited by dear, sweet kindred folk and just share a glass of the local drink. Wouldn’t I just love to be able to travel to all those places as yet unvisited and sip Ouzo by a turquoise sea. Nicoleta took me straight there. I have to choose EGE/ΑΙΓΑΙΟ to dive into. I live in SW France Thanks to Mert and Muran for their generosity.

  • Casper Wichmann says:

I live in Denmark and we’re surrounded by ocean so Nishane Ege would be the obvious choice! It’s a wonderful fresh and vibrant scent, and Nishane did a fantastic job with it!

  • As a vain man compliments are really important to me. EGE/AIГAIO I’d love to know, and win. It’s well made, pleasing, long lasting and certainly compliment magnet green aquatic. “Mediterranean summer vacation” is just a dream right now, but hopefully in the summer it would become reality for all of us.
I now have two Nishane fragrances Pasion Choco and Fan Your Flames. I slightly prefer Fan Your Flames, but Pasion Choco gets me way more positive attention, literally every time I’m wearing it, i receive at least one, or two compliments.
    Overly exsiting giveaway, USA
    Regards

  • Amazing review as usual!!! Such great content and each story is a pleasure to read!! Would love EGE/ΑΙΓΑΙΟ, given the aquatic notes and the description seems right up my sleeve!

Currently wearing Hacivat but layered this with Ani because of Sebastian suggestion and this brings the perfume to the next level!!

Honestly once you start niche perfumery, impossible to come back! I live in the EU, Belgium.

  • Enjoyed this Read. I am a Fan of Role Playing games as well. Especially ones that take you on an Adventure. Both sound Nice but I’d go with EGE. I like how it’s connected to the Sea. So far my favorite Nishane that I’ve tried is Hacivat. Thank You for the Draw. Ca

  • dorseyhorsey says:

I would looove Nanshe because carrot seed and rose together sounds like a dream. I’m in the US!

  • I used to study Mesopotamian archaeology and absolutely LOVE the inspiration behind Nanshe (which, to be fair, I didn’t learn too much about compared to Inanna and Ninhursag). I am also weirdo who LOVES cardamom perfumes. I have not had the opportunity to sample any Nishane perfumes yet. I live in the USA; thanks for the draw!

  • Thank you for this wonderful review.
Nishane is one of best in making fragrances, as now i have Fan your Flames and Ani by Cecile Zarokian, it will great if i try her other creation Nanshe.
    Saluti da Milan, Italy.

  • Nicoleta knows how to motivate , and intrigue the readers 🙂
I’m watching the snow, hearing the wind blowing, and reading about forgotten Greek vacations? Come on… I want to roll up my sleeves on the outside, while on some Greek island , believe me.
EGE/AIГAIO please , minty aromatic aquatic reminiscent of Ouzo , you just can’t go wrong with.
Both Ani and Fan Your Flames i bought because of Sebastian recommendations. Overly strong fragrances, that easily fills up the room. Hubby adores Ani on me 🙂
    Thanks a lot

I would love to Win EGE / ΑΙΓΑΙΟ and I love ani and fan your flames ! They are wonderful and this house is really building a great name for it’s self ! I loved the explanation of the names and connections behind the fragrance. That means alot to me ! usa here

  • patrick_348 says:

I would choose EGE/ΑΙΓΑΙΟ. Just the mention of the association with ouzo got me excited. I read through that list of notes and it has so much that I love in it. Nicoleta’s description of preparing breakfast in a Mediterranean garden with an “almost metallic salty after storm smell of the sea” creates a mental scent-image that I would love to see realized in a fragrance. I have never tried a Nishane fragrance, but they have a great reputation. I am in the US, in North Carolina.

  • Thank you so much for the opportunity for these fragrances! I would love to win Nanshe because the reviews I’ve seen for it make it sound incredible, plus, my favorite Nishane fragrance is also composed by Cecile – Ani! I’m from Pennsylvania.

  • 1. I live in Miami, Florida.

    2. If I were to win the giveaway I would choose EGE because it has many interesting notes that I have yet to smell. I would expect a unique fragrance.

    3. The nishane fragrance that I enjoy the most is Fan Your Flames

  • I would love to draw EGE/ΑΙΓΑΙΟ !
I love the House sososso much!!! Nishane is like one of my fav niche house.
I owned ANI, Hacivat, Vain & Naive
I wish to try the first oceanic scent from the house!!! it’s shhould be so exciting!

    BTW ANI is my FAV!

    US Portland here!

  • I love Nishane very much! And enjoyed this article about new perfumes. Both Nanshe and Ege sound beautiful, but I would prefer Ege now, because need feel and remember sea in this cold weather.
Hope Turkey will stop conflicting with neighbors. Great idea
I would like to win Ege.

  • I love powdery fragrances, and altough I have not tried anything from Nishane, I know a few created by Cecile Zarokain and I am sure I would love Nanshe as well.

Hi, I live in NYC, I would love to try Nanshe. I love the concept behind the perfume with especially all that is going on in the world today. I own A hundred silent ways and absolutely love it.

  • I would love to win EGE/ΑΙΓΑΙΟ, it sound like a nice fresh vacation scent with some nice green notes, that I love. And my favorite from Nishane is Hacivat And I’m from Denmark

  • These are wonderful reviews of both fragrances, thank you. I love Ege the most. Thanks, from Colorado USA

  • IvanVelikov says:

I knew Nicoleta would slightly prefer the powdery rosy one , called Nanshe
Me ? EGE/AIГAIO because it’s fresh, minty and marine fragrance . Potent and loud i like a lot , one of the reasons I respect Nishane. What I would also like to experience right now is vacation in Greece, Nicoleta almost printed the idea in my mind.
There are two Nishane fragrances I’ll always keep in my possession – Hacivat and Pasion Choco. Hacivat i have in the new, big bottle. It’s more cost effective.
Thank you Nicoleta for the carefree review , and Nishane
    for the opportunity

  • I don’t have a fave from this house and I’d choose the EGE/ΑΙΓΑΙΟ for the draw. I’m partial to the anise note. US

  • there are years since my last vacantion, so the idea of Mediterranean summer vacation got me into daydreaming. My fav Nishane is Hundred Silent Ways because of the orange and the tuberose in it. I would love to win a EGE:X. I live in Romania

  • I’m from EU (Portugal). Although I love Cecile Zarokian’s creations, I’d love to win EGE, because of it’s relation to the sea, as my own country´s heritage and my personal close relation to the ocean, and also because I don’t know any creations by Ilias Ermenidis, and i´d love to.
My favorite fragrances by NISHANE are Sultan Vetiver and Hundred Silent Ways.

  • What a great review by Nicoleta. Ege sounds like the one I would like to win. That combination of aromatic herbs really piques my curiosity. To date, my favorite Nishane fragrances are Ani and Fan Your Flames. I’m in Oregon, US. Thanks so much for the chance!

  • redwheelbarrow says:

This is such a fun review. Now I think I’ll go home and give characters to my fragrances when I’m bored. Although I don’t really want the goddess of fertility anywhere around me I think that Nanshe sounds beautiful. I love the combo of cardamom and rose so I would choose this one. I’ve never tried Nishane before. Thank you for the review, from the US.

  • I live in MD., U.S.A. I hope to win the fragrance that’s called “Nanshe” for different reasons, e.g. I’ve heard good things about it, the list of notes for it seem interesting to me, I’m interested to see how the carrot seeds aspect of it smells, and other reasons too. I still haven’t tried anything yet from Nishane so I don’t know yet what would be my favorite from them.

  • macaroni023 says:

NISHANE by NISHANE is exactly my cup of tea, I would prefer this one. The way spicy citrus is balanced with gentle herbs and flowers and finally wrapped up in patchouli and wood notes is very pleasant. I absolutely need this one for the spring. Located in EU

  • What a beautiful article about these 2 fragrances from Nishane. I was immediately taken in by the description/breakdown of Nanshe. The perfumer’s notes hit me right in the heart, especially the last line “A world where the forgotten, the poor, the lonely, and disenfranchised are looked after.” Oh, my gosh, how touching!!

    I would definitely choose Nanshe.

    I live in PA.

  • Wonderful, Nicoleta, wonderful! I was reading your post and my mind just sang: Choose your destiny! (Scorpio was one of my favorite characters, along with Raiden).
Back to our perfumes, any Nishane creation is amazing, but I am convinced that EGE / ΑΙΓΑΙΟ and me can make something great together. And not because you put Momoa aside, but because it inspires freshness in me.
My most beloved perfume is Hacivat and I am proud to have it in my collection! Greetings from Romania (EU)

  • It’s very informative article! it was interesting to know about name Nanshe -Sumerian goddess of fertility. I like mythology too.
I have tested Nanshe and I like it woody=floral-powdery all beautiful nuances. I didn’t test EGE yet, but it is sound beautiful- I love aquatic perfumes and am sure that Nishane did it with its perfect style.
i would like to win EGE.

Ever though I consider myself a master of disaster, my profile is more compatible with NISHANE NANSHE. I love citrus scents!

  • I don’t have favorite Nishane fragrance, but I am really interested in Nanshe as it seems derive from a more nurturing perspective. Many thanks for a most descriptive review by Nicoleta and many thanks to Nishane for making this draw possible. I’m in the USA

  • Hey. I’m Ovidiu from Romania. I would like to try Ege. The mix of notes looks very interesting. Until now Fan Your Flames is my favourite Nishane fragrance.

  • I enjoyed this interesting article about 2 new perfumes from lovely Nishane. Nanshe seems to me beautiful and complex perfumes as usually creat Cecile Zarokyan.
About EGE – I have never drank ouzo- sometimes I love anis, sometimes -no. But anis in aquatic perfume- sounds very promising.
I love Hacivant very much and Ani too.
I would like to win EGE.
    US

  • Loved Nicoleta’s review!!! My favorite from Nishane (so far) is Ani. Would like to try Nanshe.
    From Bucharest, RO.

  • Love Nicoleta’s idea to choose an avatar like a role playing mythology game. It is a difficult choice as both sound amazing, but I’ll be Nanshe: social justice, compassion and creative fertility are what we need right now.
I have never tried anything from Nishane yet (yes I’m ashamed) and would love to try it. Marit UK/NL

  • I’ve never tried any of the Nishane fragrances, but Nanshe sounds amazing.
    I live in the UK.

Thank you for the great review Nicoleta.

I enjoyed very much your interpretation of the duality of the two fragrances. The idea to portray them as RPG characters with character attributes, is really such a brilliant idea.

I think I would like to win Nanshe as it sounds like a lot of my favourite heroes from the RPG game Defense of The Ancients (DOTA) that I used to enjoy playing.

    Cheers from WI, USA

  • Very nice review! I hope some day I will earn enough money to afford this brand. So far I have only heard wonderfull reviews about this house. Until then I would love to win Ege!!!

  • doveskylark says:

I love how Nicoleta made criteria for role-playing the two fragrances. I was intrigued by Nanshe and its ability to surround the wearer with a powdery cloud. I also am intrigued by the carrot sees, ylang ylang and orris butter. I haven’t tried anything from Nishane.
    I live in the USA.

  • Nicoleta.Tomsa says:

I am delighted to see Nishane is so loved in the community!
This was a really fun review to write, thank you for playing 😀

  • immortano26 says:

My favourite from Nishane is Fan Your Flames – it’s so different and fun to wear, but i hope that’ll change when i win EGE – because i’d extremely love to win it. it’s the pure freshness! The weather in Poland is awfull right now and i want to smell some spring, nature coming to life and sea…

  • Chaotic good, ouzo , chopped basil, Mediterranean vacation and half naked Jason Momoa ? Nicoleta reviews are getting better.
I really like Cecile Zarokian , but EGE / ΑΙΓΑΙΟ is my choice, it’s more versatile and pleasing to me.
Fan Your Flames is sensational, so glad i own it.I like my fragrance deep , rich and potent . That’s one of the reasons people like me like Nishane, it’s not just the quality ingredients they use.
In Scotland at the moment, but from 16th until 22nd I’ll be in France. If I’m qualified , I’d love to enter, if not , good luck to all participants.

I am from the USA and I would like to win EGE/ΑΙΓΑΙΟ. I love the sound of this spicy, herbal, aromatic, and aquatic masterpiece. My favorite Nishane that I have tried is Ani.
