Jan Wilhem Algren is a story teller of scent. Each carefully curated fragrance in the collection is a personal memory or an imagining of bygone eras. He founded Vilhelm Parfumerie which is named for his debonair grandfather Vilhelm in 2015. We have reviewed Sr. Editor Lauyrn Beer’s favorite “Lilac a Day”.

Composed by the famous perfumer Jerome Epinette of Robertet in 2015, it was one of the first in Mr. Algren’s “library of perfumes”; specifically Mr. Algren’s memory of playing chess with his grandfather on a beautiful summer day in Sweden. Morning Chess brings to mind classic fragrances— with its sharp green bite of galbanum, burst of bright bergamot and a touch of smoky leather. -Michelyn Camen, Editor-in-Chief
