I first came across EastWest Bottlers via our CaFleureBon Profiles in American Perfumers Series. Matt Moore, the co-founder, is a bestselling novelist and musician from Georgia who along with his ex-fraternity brothers started EastWest Bottlers, an authentic line of indie fragrances. His first memories of scent are those of his grandfather, a veteran of the Second World War. Matt fondly remembers “Giddy”, getting ready in front of his wooden armoire splashing on colognes such Old Spice. Splash colognes aren’t as popular as they were but they evoke classic fragrances from the past, like Polo and Aramis. Sebastian has reviewed Moonshine Reserve and now Sportsman, the newest in the collection.

EastWest Bottlers Sportsman was developed by perfumer Caroline de Boutiny from Galimard Parfumerie. Galimard is a historic perfumery in Grasse, France, and Mme Boutiny translates her technical skill with raw materials into an authentic American cologne. The scent is very masculine and feels like you are outdoors; pine and leather are central to the composition but Sportsman is not overpowering and is great for everyday use. -Michelyn Camen, Editor-in-Chief
