Editor Sebastian Jara has chosen to review the new release (from the Fresh Collection), Carner Barcelona Fig Man, which is a great example of perfume meeting art and great storytelling. Carner Barcelona is the Spanish house started by Creative Director Sara Carner who grew up “surrounded by figs and Mediterranean vegetation” (you can read her Creative Director article here). As its name implies this is a brand that is rooted in Spain and Spanish culture. Carner Barcelona Fig Man takes its name from Salvador Dali. Dali was born and buried in Figueres, Catalonia and while he might be best known for “The Persistence of Time”, Sara Carner was inspired by one of his illustrations in the 1969 Fruit Series “Fig Man” (homme figuier). Fragrance as both art and scent of place.
